Spiders are above Selfi, just out of reach, so I will count her roll as a readied action unless she posts otherwise prior to spider's acting.
One of the spiders (red) is struck by arrow and a bolt of force.

One of the spiders (red) spits a web at the barbarian elf.
Ranged touch (web), range: 1d20 + 5 - 2 ⇒ (20) + 5 - 2 = 23
Selfi is entangled and suffers -2 penalty on all attack rolls, a-4 penalty on Dexterity, and can only move at half speed (no running or charging). Escape can be made with a successful Escape Artist or Strength check (DC 12) as a full round action. Web has 2 HP.
The other spider (blue) does the same to Flaith.
Ranged touch (web), range: 1d20 + 5 - 2 ⇒ (14) + 5 - 2 = 17
Flaith is entangled and suffers -2 penalty on all attack rolls, a-4 penalty on Dexterity, and can only move at half speed (no running or charging). Escape can be made with a successful Escape Artist or Strength check (DC 12) as a full round action. Web has 2 HP.
As Flaith goes after the spiders, I will ignore her previously posted readied action for this round and she take any action she wishes.

COMBAT OVER
The central orb of web is a newly laid egg sack. The eggs would be worthless in Daggermark, but the webbing holding the sack is covered in fresh adhesive.
A successful Heal or Survival (DC 15) check is required to collect a silk gland from a spider corpse. One such check may only be attempted once per corpse.

![]() |

know nature: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14
Selfi takes 10 to climb the tree (16), and another 10 (15) to harvest the silk.

GM Valen |

The skillful elf collects the adhesive and spider silk glands.
Party has earned 2 Trade Points.
Using Ulisha’s map, the party is able to get out of the forest as easily as it got in and is free to head to Daggermark with the spidery goods in order to find a buyer. After all, only a city with a thriving trade in poison has buyers for the adhesive.
The party may choose to seek out Johannes Vox, the buyer referenced in Ulisha's journal, or possibly another buyer. If you seek out another buyer, please make a Diplomacy roll to gather information or a Knowledge (local) check.

GM Valen |

Following the rule of two...
With the information provided in Ulisha's journal and Lync's knowledge of the area, the shop of Johannes Vox is not hard to find. Once it becomes evident to the owner why you have approached him, he ushers you to a back room to conduct business.
"You all are from out-of-town, ain't ya?" Vox remarks. "Friends of the half-orc, Ulisha, I understand."
The man gives a devilish smirk, then directs you to place your "catch" on a small table as he pulls out a pair of spectacles with which to better examine it.
"It appears that you've done some hunting on your way to our fair village." Vox notes. "By my reckoning," he says as he examines the party's freshly acquired offerings, "these came out of some of the crawlies in the Shroudwood. Fairly typical specimens of the kind. I can offer you two hundred gold pieces in coin and throw in a couple of flasks of alchemist’s fire and a trio of potions of cure light wounds. Them could be useful to ya, especially if you plan to stay in town for a while."

sense motive: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17
Someone else may need to make the sense motive, to realize what I am setting up for, but I can not main the bluff attempt, unless I roll really high.
"Not really that common. These were the only ones we could find, and we spent a better part of two days looking for them. I think we got the last of it right here on your table. They may be worth more than what you're offering"
bluff aid: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 1 = 11

GM Valen |

The paladin's words convince the merchant that he should sweeten the deal.
"Look, what I offered before, them's all the goods I can spare at the moment." Vox says sincerely. "However, let try to convince ya that this here's a good trade. Your half-orc friends' been blathering about some important blade or sword or something she found. Moonsilver, Sliverhex, or somesuch. Kept going on about its history to any who would listen.”
The merchant leans in conspiratorially. “Well I have it from the horse’s mouth, so to speak, that she won’t be needin’ that sword where she’s headed.” The merchant draws a hand across his neck, making an unpleasant sound. “The Vessels Between will have that one soon enough. They're headin' there soon and will grab that sword once they’re through. But, I happen to know where they're gonna' find her little camp.”

![]() |

"Where would that be friend. We at least need to make it a fair fight" Zordlon inquires, matching the tone of the merchant's voice.

GM Valen |

“A fair trade’s a fair trade." notes Vox. Upon receiving the spider glands and adhesive, he provides the party with the promised goods. In addition, the merchant gladly draws a map for the party to follow. With the information in hand, the merchant makes it clear that if the party is to save Ulisha, that it must depart quickly to arrive before her assailants do.
End Quest the Fifth.

GM Valen |

Beginning Quest the Final
Remaining in Daggermark, the party, if it chooses, may try and learn more about the city.
Party may again attempt to uncover the prior spoilers regarding the city.
Likewise, the party may be able to learn some information about the Vessels Between.
If the result of your check was 20+, then you also know the information under the following spoiler.
If the result of your check was 25+, then you further know the information under the following spoiler.
Following the map provided by the merchant, you come across the hill marked on the map as containing Ulisha’s hiding place. The hill ahead is not much to look at. It gently slopes away from the river. A shallow cave is near its top, smoke from a campfire curling upward in the gentle breeze. The grass wafts slowly along a gently curving path up the southern face of the hill, ending in a few switchbacks as the hill grows steep near the top.

"Cities." Selfi says with disdain. "Look at how they poison the land and its people." she adds remarkably without irony given the that poison is what Daggermerk is best known for.
Selfi has no interest in staying in town.

Lync mentions to his friends what little he knows about the Vessels Between, the cheapest assassins in Daggermark...
"'Cheapest assassins in Daggermark....'" Selfi says to herself. "You mean that they take unfair advantage of the rules of this world, put all their effort and training into one or two abilities they see as key to killing, and allow any others to atrophy like dead leaves. That they use sneak attacks and range to heap wounds upon their foes. Yes, that does sound 'cheap.'" Selfi says grimly. "It is good that none of us are so. Let us not tarry then. They are no doubt off being cheap somewhere."

That is the reason, I decided to go ahead and re apply the mage armor once we spot the smoke on the hill.

GM Valen |

Long answer- The quests are designed to be played separately, so I assume that the party gets at least a day of rest in between each quest.
Short answer- No. You may assume that a day has passed.
As you approach, an armed half-orc presenting as female appears from behind a rocky outcropping. Grasped within her hand is a razor-sharp sickle, its silvery sheen glistens in the sunlight. You recognize this individual immediately as the curious and capable half-orc explorer named, Ulisha.
"How did you find me? And what are you doing here?" she asks rather warily.

![]() |

Ulisha! May pain be your companion! We have been following your clue since the day you disappeared and give us this letter!
Yevgheni asks his comrades to give Ulisha the partial letter they got from her.
We've heard that you were abducted by bandits!? Is that not the case?

GM Valen |

Ulisha surveys the remnants of the journal. "I'm glad you found use for it. As for tales of my abduction..." she pauses with a smirk. "those have obviously been exaggerated. I'm here by my own choice, well mostly. Word is that one of the so-called 'nobles' in Gralton has put a price on my head. Still, they can't be offering too much as you are all the first people that I have seen out here in some time. This must be a better hiding spot than I thought."
"So, you've obviously devoted some time and effort to hunting me down. Find the treasures I mentioned, did you?"

![]() |

"Yes, we did find the treasures traveling great distances to do so for months now and often crossing the local law to do so. This price, do you suppose it might cover our travel expenses?" asks the elf barbarian.

GM Valen |

"Travel expenses? Maybe." Ulisha grins. "But just barely. And not nearly as much as you have on you already, if you do have all those treasures that were mentioned in my notebook. No, I suspect that there is more to your visit here than collection of some stiff noble's bounty."
Despite her jovial attitude, Ulisha nevertheless takes a long look around, as if trying to determine if the party was followed. Finally, she remarks, "But then, if you already gathered the treasures mentioned in my book, why have you come? Guilt over not paying me a finder's fee?"

![]() |

"Well dear, apparently, your boasting about success has rubbed someone the wrong way. They have sent assassins from daggermark after you." Zordlon takes one more look around, "It appears we have beat them here."

![]() |

"Or perhaps it is all the grave-robbing and the price upon your head?" Selfi asks earnestly.

![]() |

Lync nods at Flaith and readies his bow...and looks for a good place to from which to both observe the assassins approach while concealing himself as he does so..
Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (9) + 8 = 17
Stealth: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (20) + 10 = 30

GM Valen |

"Assassins from Daggermark, eh?" Ulisha grunts, ignoring the elf's comments regarding the robbing of graves. "An ambush is an excellent idea. Sounds like you are already putting some sort of plan into place."
The half-orc ponders for a moment, then adds, "If it is me that they are after, then I should remain in the cave out of sight. If it comes to blows, I can offer inspiration to bolster your courage, at least as long as you remain within earshot. The mouth of the cave should sufficiently amplify my voice to allow you to hear me anywhere upon the hill."
Map of Ulisha's hideout is now revealed on Maps (Q6-Silverhex).
Please place your PC's token into "starting position" for the ambush and then roll me Initiative, along with any skill checks for preparation (Disguise, Stealth, etc.). Let me know if a PC is taking 10 on a check. I will take Lync's last two check results for his Perception and Stealth.
