Marsius
|
Marsius again stands off to the manor from a distance. Gazing up at the Lady's chambers, he says. I too may be able to help you get inside from above. But does anyone else find this mildly...unseemly. If there is evidence that the Lady is actually abusing her position to benefit her lover that would be one thing. But Sheila seems to not care about that, so much as she does the chance to force out a noblewoman on only implication. If there is no actual corruption, is she not allowed to love who she wishes?
Nevertheless, the nagaji offers his abilities to help gain entry.
if the gates or such aren't more than 35 feet away from the building, I can cast Levitate on one or two of you as well.
GM Tyranius
|
Lets say DC 20 Climb check. An uneven surface with some narrow handholds and footholds. The gate is within 35 feet of the balcony.
Kiboko
|
"Marsius, if you will levitate Kiboko, Kiboko will lower a knotted rope down for the rest. Kiboko will use magic to allow Mvumbu to climb the wall like a spider. Perhaps Brother Kramac and Ameila can create another distraction for us? Kiboko will not fabricate evidence. If this 'Lady' has done nothing ignoble, Kiboko will not cause her to suffer."
A titled city-dweller. Could there be anything less noble?!
The suggestion to make a distraction assumes that the balcony is out of sight of the front door.
Kiboko, now clad in simple leather armour, casts Spider Climb on Mvumbu (duration 60 minutes). He waits for Marsius to levitate him, then once at the balcony steps on to it. Kiboko calls Mvumbu up, and quietly ties off a knotted rope so the others can climb.
Kiboko has an ordinary hemp rope, so he knots it whilst making preparations. He also changes his Pack Flanking feat for Stealth Synergy again, and switches Mvumbu's animal focus to owl (+4 stealth). Kiboko's wayfinder remains in his pack.
Just before levitating, Kiboko casts Heightened Awareness from his wand.
stealth synergy, kiboko: 1d20 ⇒ 7
stealth synergy, Mvumbu, owl focus: 1d20 ⇒ 17
Stealth totals: Kiboko = 17 + 10 = 27; Mvumbu = 17 + 6 + 4 = 27
perception, HA: 1d20 + 11 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 11 + 2 = 28
Kelumur
|
Kelumur agrees with Kiboko, "That sounds like an excellent plan Kiboko. With regards to fabrication, it seems the majority do not feel the need to fault an innocence, and I will respect that. We shall only use the truth to our means."
Once Kiboko lowers the rope, he blends into the darkness and heads to the chambers, searching for any piece of evidence that could help with the Pathfinder's cause.
Take 10 on knotted rope for 10 vs DC 10!
stealth: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (7) + 15 = 22 Yikes! I've been rolling pretty bad on these.
Perception: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (17) + 10 = 27 +2 for hidden objects and +3 for traps
lol at the stealthing climbing hippo! It's fantastic!
Marsius
|
Thank you Marsius says as Kiboko and Kelumur agree to not unfairly slander the noblewoman.
He waits for an opportune moment, for the guards to move away, then as the first half-orc reaches the walls fingers a wire in his pocket while whispering.
GM Tyranius
|
Just Kelumur, Kiboko and Mvumbu stealthing in the courtyard while everyone else waits outside the gates then?
GM Roll: 1d20 ⇒ 12
Quiet as mice Kiboko, Kelumur and Mvumbu are able to get through the courtyard as they hide behind bushes. Once at the balcony, using a series of magic all three are able to reach the top with ease as they tie off a rope and signal for the others to join.
Anyone else joining needs stealth checks to get past the guards patrolling the courtyard.
Up on top of the balcony Kelumur finds that the window is locked.
Kelumur
|
I was going for strength in numbers lol!
Kelumur attempts to pry open the windows using his masterwork thieves tools. "The coast looks clear, hopefully we will not find much trouble inside." He whispers towards Kiboko.
disable device: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (19) + 17 = 36
Kramac
|
Kramac leans against a wall, petting Kuuma and eating an apple while he waits for the sneaks to complete their mission, or rush in if there are signs of trouble.
Kelumur
|
Assuming we infiltrate..
Kelumur threads subtly, careful not to create any noises that could make aware of their presence. He signals the duo to spread in search, but stick close, to find evidence of the affair.
stealth: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (14) + 15 = 29
Perception: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (17) + 10 = 27 +2 for hidden objects.
Kiboko
|
Kiboko likewise begins a quiet search, whilst Mvumbu watches for potential hostiles...
stealth synergy, kiboko: 1d20 ⇒ 8
stealth synergy, mvumbu: 1d20 ⇒ 4
With Mvumbu using Owl Focus, that's a Stealth result of 18 for both.
perception, kiboko, HA: 1d20 + 11 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 11 + 2 = 22
perception, mvumbu: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19
Kiboko is looking for traps, letters, documents and so forth. Mvumbu is looking and smelling for enemies.
GM Tyranius
|
Kiboko, Kelumur and Mvumbu begin their search of the room as Kelumur quietly pries the window open. The room is quite expansive and luxurious as several curtains surround the bed facing the windowed balcony.
Sneaking around they find little. That is until Kelumur finds the topdrawer in Lady Kaddren’s jewelry box locked. Taking a good look neither Koboko nor Kelumur finds it to be trapped.
Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (9) + 8 = 17
Kelumur
|
Recalling that this is a home of a wizard, Kelumur looks to Kiboko with a little concern, "Do you believe there to be any magical elements? We must cover all angles..."
Assuming Kiboko detect magic and finds nothing...
Disable device: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (4) + 17 = 21
GM Tyranius
|
With the small suggestion from Kelumur, Kiboko does indeed detect magic. In fact a pulsing abjuration aura emanates 20 feet out from the jewelry box.
/Amelia Rose/
|
Amelia waits with Kramac, tension causing her shoulders to bunch and her face to harden. "I do hope that they are ok in there.. but they are the best suited to this. Even though I am an elf, I am told I tramp around like a dwarf is plate steel!"
Unfortunately, I don't have any way of dispelling anything just yet. But maybe I can identify the spell and see if its something that can be dealt with if someone wants to come get me! GM: Do we see any evidence that someone is home other than the guards in the courtyard??
GM Tyranius
|
Just the guards. So far. :)
Kiboko
|
"Your intuition is correct Kelemur. Kiboko senses magic. An abjuration centred on the jewelry box. It could be a trap intended to kill would-be thieves, or it could be an alarm of some sort. Kiboko does not know. Can you disarm it? Should Kiboko go for Amelia?"
Kiboko directs Kelemur's attention to the source of the emanation.
Kelumur
|
Kelumur takes some time to study the device.
Is this considered a magic-trap that could be disabled by a Rogue's disable device? If not..
Kelumur shakes his head, "I am unsure, it could help if one proficient in the arcane arts were here to look at it." Suggesting the need for Amelia to be present.
GM Tyranius
|
This is a weirdly worded trap and could go both ways. I will explain after. It is a magical trap so should be able to disable it as long as you have trapfinding ability.
Kelumur
|
Kelumur has trapfinding, so would attempt to disable it first before engaging Amelia.
If the earlier roll didn't resolve it, he will try one more time.
Disable Device: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (11) + 17 = 28
GM Tyranius
|
Ah sorry forgot you rolled earlier.
Kelumur studies the magic as closely as he can before inching forward. A bead of sweat runs down his face. magical traps are always far worse than normal traps. His steady hands work at wrapping around and bypassing the magic. That is until his hand slips. Click it is too late a light bell begins to ring all throughout. Time seems to come to a crawl as the alarm is quickly followed by a burst of flames. A massive explosion rocks the room as every window in the room blows out.
"KABOOOOOOOOOOMMM..................
Empowered Fireball Damage (Kiboko, Kelumur and Mvumbu): 6d6 ⇒ (1, 6, 4, 1, 4, 3) = 19 * 150% damage. = 28 damage
DC 14 reflex for half.
Amelia: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17
Kelumur: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (12) + 8 = 20
Rallas: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (2) + 10 = 12
Kiboko: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Kramac: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23
Marsius: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 1 = 13
Guard: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
With the sound of an explosion and the room smoking a guard bursts through the door to the south. "What is going on? Who are you?" He draws his blade.
Map is up. Folks outside are 30 feet away and then have 25 feet of rope to climb to get into the room, if you wish to.

Kiboko (51/51; Lifelink) (Mvumba 39/39)
Kiboko
|
Kiboko had Heightened Awareness up, which I would normally burn for the initiative bonus. This would put me above the guard in the initiative order (total bonus of +5). Is this OK?
reflex save vs fireball: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 18
Do I still have Resist Fire up? Duration was 60 minutes, and I cast it just before going into the alchemist's tower.
| Mvumbu |
reflex vs fireball: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (11) + 8 = 19
Mvumbu has Evasion and so takes no damage.
"Haaar, Haarrr!!!"
Kramac
|
Hearing the explosion, Kramac will look around and see if the guards in the courtyard have reacted at all. If they have, Kramac is going to run up to them and pose as a helpful citizen offering aid. Otherwise he will delay and wait for the situation to develop.
Good guard! I saw a fire from that room up above! Let me assist you in rescuing the people in the manor!
Bluff: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (11) + 8 = 19
/Amelia Rose/
|
Amelia ducks as the windows suddenly blow out in a great conflagration and showers the yard with broken glass and debris. "By the gods!!" she exclaims, grabbing hold of her close allies for support and in worry as she straightens. Kramac pulls away, yelling at the guards, and she follows him, calling out in an authoritative voice. "Call the Fire Brigade, and get the Watch here! Go! Move Now! We can help you!"
Amelia takes off towards the house, looking over her shoulder to make sure the guards are not following and Kramac isn't in trouble.
Intimidate: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 1 = 21
YES! lol! The mouse found her roar! Anyways, I am not going to move my token just yet, based upon the result of the guards and my intimidate check. She is heading towards the house, but will stop her movements if the guard doesn't follow her order.
Kelumur
|
Evasion, Reflex: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (14) + 10 = 24
Kelumur deftly dodges from the fireball, and turns around to meet the guard. "See what you can find! I will deal with the door." He tells Kiboko as he rushes to the door past the guard.
Double move to the door. Am going to jam locks!
Rallas Linnderil
|
You heard what the lady said! Move it, man...time is wasting! Rallas yells at the guard, hoping to sway the man into getting the help.
aid intimidate: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23
Marsius
|
Marisus reacts as surprised as the outer guards as the balcony-adjoined room suddenly illuminates in a flash of fire and light. Stunned at first, as he sees the elves suggest a fire brigade the Nagaji holds out a hand as cool liquid spills from his claw onto the ground.
If there is a fire, perhaps I can help as well. he says as he readies to shift towards the building if the guards follow Amelia.
Casting create water to try and aid Amelia and Rallas' scheme. Marsius will also move as needed to act accordingly.
GM Tyranius
|
@Kiboko- An hour would have definitely passed since then. These mini assignments are supposed to take the course of the simulated day and that was 4 assignments ago. With planning and getting to each locations several hours have passed.
A single guard rounds the corner and his jaw goes slack. He is a younger guard, unsure at first he rushes over to unlock the gate. Amelia begins to bark orders and the young guard hesitantly rushes down the street to gather up the fire brigade. Though he feels more sure of himself as Marsius begins to magically summon small bits of water to quench the flames. "I'll go get you help!"
Back upstairs the guard is shocked as Kelumur rushes past to secure the doors. Only Kiboko seems injured by the massive blast, though he seemed to avoid the worst of the heat.

Timeline makes sense, thanks. Only Longstrider is still running (6 hour duration).
Kiboko grabs the jewelry box and stuffs it into Mvumbu's saddlebags: "Kwenda mvumbu, kupata kramaki!"
Kiboko faces off against the guard, lance at the ready: "Stay out of this. A noble's riches aren't worth your blood and guts."
I think that's two move actions for Kiboko, during one of which he is also drawing his lance as a free action. Mvumbu has only taken one move action but has to wait for Kiboko to load the saddlebag.
/Amelia Rose/
|
Well, that takes care of one guard, for now at least!
Just RP'ing in response to the GM's update.. Post above describes the action sequence
Amelia huffs, hiding a very satisfied grin as the young guard turns tail and runs, giving them time to rescue her friends. "Lets get them out! Hopefully they aren't too well done!" she tries to quip as she runs towards the manor.
GM Tyranius
|
Kiboko successfully grabs the singed and cracked jewelry box as the guard is unsure who to take off after. He rushes around the corner to Kelumur, blade drawn, not wanting to let the thieves further inside th house. "Big mistake!"

Assuming that Kelemur would like to delay for a flank...
Kiboko urges Mvumbu to go back the way she came in switching her animal focus to Stag for +5 landspeed, and moves to aid Kelemur.
"અમે જે માટે આવ્યા તે છે. તેમને બહાર કઠણ અને વિઝાર્ડ અહીં નહીં પહેલાં ચાલો જાઓ!"
Let the Bekyar's cursed tongue be useful for something.
Kiboko moves through the bedroom and flanks with Kelemur, then attemps to trip the guard.
trip vs guard, hooked lance, flank: 1d20 + 9 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 9 + 1 + 2 = 19
| Mvumbu |
"Haaarrr? Haaarrr!!"
Mvumbu moves off to find Kiboko's friend, Brother Kramac. She spider climbs down the outside of the building and rejoins the party.
Double move, landspeed 45', climb speed 20'
Kelumur
|
"हम कोई जोखिम नहीं ले सकते!" Kelumur replies, as he seems focus and intent on covering all possible angles.
Full round action to jam the lock, it is a DC 10 Disable Device, so Kelumur will auto pass.
Marsius
|
The nagaji moves as quietly as he can towards the dangling rope. Shield stowed, he looks up just in time to sees the hippopotamus descend.
Mvumbu. Where are the others?
Marsius looks up and tries to whisper loudly. Perhaps leaving quickly would be best!
Delaying for now. In his armor, Marsius should not be the first up the rope. If he sees a fellow Pathfinder being grabbed or impeded, he will cast liberating Command on them if appropriate (get a +8 bonus on an immediate action free Escape Artist check)
/Amelia Rose/
|
Amelia watches with amusement as she sees the hippo spider climb down the wall of the building, then takes up a post below the rope. She prepares a spell, but does not cast it just yet, maintaining the arcane power for the right time.
Trying to keep up the farce and knowing stealth was thrown out the window already, she hollers up at the blown out window. "Is everyone all right in there? Is anyone hurt and need help??"
Trying to keep up the ruse as "helpful passersby" while trying to see if anyone is hurt. Readied action to cast Glitterdust on any guards moving in on the group outside.
Kramac
|
Kramac stands back and also plays the part of helpful bystander, all the while wondering to himself if he should go up and help. Not so much help Kiboko and Kelumur. More help the guard, that he is pretty sure Kelumur is murder hoboing while he stands around, after what Kramac saw at the caravan.
GM Tyranius
|
Kramac is unsure what to do as Kelumur jams the lock up, trapping the guard in the smoldering room.
Amelia helps keep watch for anymore guards. A spell right on the tip of her tongue. Marsius moves to the rope, whispering that they need to hurry up and leave.
With the jewelry box in Mvumba's saddlebags, she climbs down the wall to join Marsius as she licks his face.
Kiboko attempts to trip the guard using the hook on his lance but fails to get a good hold.

Rallas waits below with the others as he holds the rope taut.
The guard stabs his rapier back at Kelumur once again.
Rapier vs Kelumur AC 23: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21
This time he strike, though not deep enough to puncture through the orcs armor.
Dropping his rapier to the ground he holds his hands up. "Not worth it. Take what you want and leave." The man says.
Kelumur
|
"Nothing personal." The half-orc mutters before moving past the guard heading straight for the window exit.
Will non-violently double move to the windows from here on and continue non-violently escaping..
/Amelia Rose/
|
LOL @ Kelumur
Amelia heaves a great sigh of relief as she sees Kelumur appear in the remains of the window above. "Hurry! We've stalled the guards, but not for long! Where's Kiboko??"
Kiboko
|
"Leave the city. This place is corrupt and full of evil. Go into the wild, where people truly live freely!"
With this advice for the unfortunate guard, Kiboko follows Kelemur outside and rejoins the party. Speed is 40' so should be able to get out and down the rope in one round.
"Time to go. Scatter and meet back where we started!"
GM Tyranius
|
The group leaves the burning manor just as the barred door begins to get battered by the remaining guards. Scattering the Pathfinders are all able to regroup a safe distance away back near the Lodge. Given a few moments to catch your breath Kiboko pulls the box from Mvumu's satchel and opens it.
Inside he uncovers Lady Kaddren's stash of Toth’s erotic poems. With solid evidence now all that is left is to confront Lady Kaddren and use it to blackmail her out of the competition.
Kiboko
|
"If the two of them are involved in an affair, it could imply Lady Kaddren might be showing Toth political favoritism—an illicit act that would also break her family’s long-standing efforts to keep nobility and business separate. Such evidence might stand to ruin her if it fell into the hands of her rivals."
"So the 'noblewoman' breaks her own rules. This is clear evidence of her corruption. Kaddren may wish to choose love over business. And Kiboko would think that noble. Perhaps some of you might convince her of that? Kiboko, Mvumbu and Kelemur should avoid Kaddren though, lest we be recognised as thieves by her guards." Kiboko addresses his fellows.
Assume lifelink triggers and Kiboko heals 10hp at Marsius' expense? Will wear breastplate again as well.
Marsius
|
Marsius pores over the notes, his scales skin luckily being incapable of blushing.
It certainly does seem that they are quite...involved with each other. the Nagano says. But I am not sure these show any sign their personal connection is affecting their business sides.
Still, he continues, spending several seconds seemingly struggling with his pack before drawing out a wand and touching it to several blocked marks on his skin. The mere appearance of impropriety could be damaging to both of them. And we're she to win the Key, more eyes would be on her, looking for excuses. Perhaps she could see keeping a lower profile would be best for now.
CLW: 1d8 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 1 + 2 = 11
And yes, lifelink'll've healed Kiboko 10
/Amelia Rose/
|
Amelia hurries to her friends as soon as they appear at the rendezvous point. "Are you ok? Do you need any treatment? What happened up there?!!?"
Amelia has a wand of CLW or a potion for whomever needs it.
Looking over the papers, Amelia has another crisis of conscience. "These notes show a relationship.. but they don't prove favoritism.. Has she outwardly shown any preference for Toth in her dealings?"
Not sure if it will work, but K. Local?: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (14) + 9 = 23. Unless there is clear evidence of favoritism, this is really not going to sit well with Amelia. She would have been much more comfortable with finding evidence of favoritism rather than the relationship..

Marsius would generally agree here: if no actual signs of favoritism being done, not sure if they're doing anything really untoward. Had note to this effect in first attempted post that got eaten by forum issues, then reposted via phone during Big Game and forgot to include that
