Milo Flamecursed |
Hmm.. my first instinct was to nuke the entire top of the tower! But now I can't see where Guang and Glen have gotten to...
Can one use selective metamagic if you can't see the folks to avoid?
The flame still burning brightly in his hand, Milo starts to curse loudly, as he finds his view of their foe blocked by the magical fog.
The string of invectives is both inventive and, you suspect, anatomically impossibly.
He then starts to intone another arcane spell, glaring up at the roils of fog with malice.
He will attempt to dispel the fog cloud. CL check: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 18
Glen Fiddich |
GM, if it's cool with you, since several players' actions took into account Glen's movement, I'll forego the actions to activate and stow my wand of shield of faith. With your approval, I'll leave Glen in the fog-enshrouded space he currently occupies. Hopefully, that avoids the need for any other ret-cons.
Glen Fiddich |
This space is confusing for everyone, players and GM. Just trying to limit any additional confusion that Glen (and I) might cause. Not complaining, we're all trying our best.
Lurgh |
Waiting to see if the fog is still there. I too considered nuking the top of the tower with a fireball, but the creature could have moved after casting the fog cloud, so I couldn't be sure on targeting. I also thought about casting fly and going up, but the creature could just descend into the fog on its next turn and I'd never find it.
Lurgh |
If Lurgh can see the creature and fireball him without hitting allies, he does so.

Milo disperses of the magical fog just in time for Lurgh to send a ball of fire at the stalker, though it manages to shield itself using the stairs just enough to avoid the worst of it. Despite being heavily outnumbered, the undead stalker rushes at Glen and draws blood with its blade. Glen notices the wound oozes a bit of green, but doesn't seem to be affected by it.

A search through the detritus at the bottom of the shaft uncovers several things: the apparatus and equipment of both a torture chamber and alchemist’s lab (now completely corroded and useless), the iconography of a shrine to Norgorber, and the broken remains of a large, ornate hourglass lying next to a chair set with manacles and hinged to allow its occupant to be dunked beneath the water in one of the catch basins for the sea inlets.
Milo Flamecursed |
As the skeletal guardian falls, and explodes, Milo frowns for a moment, then starts back up the stairs, cursing the entire time at their steepness.
"Carked risers." He growls finally, upon reaching the top, panting heavily from the effort.
He looks at all the torture equipment with a frown. "Bleedin' guests gettin' nobbled for sure." He observes. "Tea with the pigs."

"This place has witnessed much evil, it's certain. Did the rest of you find anything interesting?
He looks over the items the gnome discovered. "You guys mind if I hang onto the bottle of neutralize poison? That was a close call with the death stalker."
Glen looks around for the low-profile Prophet. "Brother, you want this incense of meditation? Powerful stuff."

Exiting the dark stairwell, you find yourself entering a storeroom from what would have been a secret door. Dozens of barrels stand stacked against the far wall of this unoccupied storeroom, while many more are strewn about haphazardly on the floor. Something on the floor near the western door glints with silver. Oddly, Lurgh swears he can hear the faint sound of breathing coming from within one of the barrels, and Milo thinks he may have even heard a slight cough.
Glen Fiddich |
Following Milo's finger, Glen takes a position next to the barrel, and readies to strike, if the creature within tries to attack.

Glen immediately buries his blade into the shoulder of the human in front of him, who tries to retaliate with a dagger punch, but the wound throws off his aim. The Prophet and Lurgh both fend off surprise dagger strikes themselves, as a pair of attackers pop out of the barrels near them. Another one bursts through one in the corner to toss a blade at Milo, but he dodges it easily and it clanks off the wall. Suddenly, two more seem to appear out of thin air, trying to strike with their daggers but neither has any luck.

careful what you wish for =)
I apologize ahead of time for this... but Milo is kind of fueled by anger ... and someone tried to stab him!
Milo starts swearing, as one of the men hops out and tries to shank him... he is quite obviously furious, not even trying to get out of the way, as he stares up at the larger man and starts shouting at him in orcish.
cast defensively: 1d20 + 14 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 14 + 4 = 37
The fire from the flame in his hand bursts to life, small tendrils running up his arm, and suddenly, the curses in orc change... until he is shouting arcane phrases in draconic, as he holds up the silver rod in the other hand.
The flame continues to move up his arm, then spreads across his entire torso, until it looks like he's entirely on fire. Then, with one final shout, the flames flash outwards in a fiery conflagration, filling almost the entire room. Everyone is suddenly surrounded by a raging inferno!
Fire is everywhere... yet it seems to flow around the four other pathfinders and Agosa, barely licking at the edges of their clothing before swirling past.
Milo would have been nice, but the man tried to knife him!
Casting intensified fireball, using his selective metamagic rod to exclude 6 targets... aka: 5 pathfinders, plus our healer charge.
Put a 20' radius template on the map, the X marks the intersection he's centering it on
Once the flames clear, the Pathfinders will find themselves, surprisingly unharmed... though the same can not be said for the attackers... or the room.
Milo, the flame now just in his hand again, seemingly no worse for wear, spits on the ground and growls. "Prigs."

Glen Fiddich |
Glen turns to their contact, all trace of humor gone. "How fare you, Masur the Ill-Favored? Do you know these smugglers? They were prepared to ambush us. Why?"
Glen Fiddich |
"Brother Agosa, see if any of this gear is better than your own, and consider using what you can. The leather armor is enchanted, and that's a fine buckler and club. Anyone need the healing potion? If not, perhaps Agosa should carry it."
Glen looks over the remaining gear. "Gents, take what you can use. These smugglers won't need it anymore. I'd like to hang on to one of these potions of invisibility. We can stow the rest of the gear in our rucksacks. We might need it later."
He looks at the unconscious smuggler at Lurgh's feet. "Nicely done, Brother. What do we do with him now? We could bind and gag him securely with whatever we can scrounge in this storeroom. Should buy us enough time to get out of here."
He grins at Milo. "'Course, somewhat might have noticed Milo's well-timed blast. We probably need to get moving."
"Masur the Ill-Favored, where are those camels?"
