Ed slaps his chest armor right over the belly, and rubs it really fast while muttering a prayer to Apsu. He inhales a few times with the last being a big breath.
Waiting for the perfect moment, He takes a quick step, and exhales forcefully, spewing forth a cone of flame.

Round 3
Since Davosh is AFK / Spotty posting till Monday.....
After a firey grocery shout hurled at the golem, Ed breathes a sigh of relief, but then gets a puzzled concerned look on his face. With an audible rumble / growl Ed feels the need to pick up his leg and shift his hips slightly. A steady puff of smoke billows out from the Oradin's pants. Getting a vision of an amalgamation of the spells obscuring mist and cloud kill, causes Davosh to cackle madly. The shock on the witches face when he realized that he almost forgot makes him cackle again to make up for it.
Edswitches his life link to Vojtek

Vojtek and Ali manage to hack and hammer the bone golem into oblivion! It crumples to the floor in a scattering of bone fragments everywhere!
Out of combat!

Kappi Matarito |

Good job everyone. The lad peers intently back through the doorway with his sword drawn. Nope, it looks like our backtrail is clear. The lad is sure everyone believes he was guarding the rear and he certainly did not run away from a terrifying monster.
The young rogue goes back and picks through the remains of the monster, wondering if its bones were made of some super strong material that they could sell or maybe even make into uber tough armor or weapons. He brings this up to the others even though he realizes they would probably need a legendary smith like Sandor of the UpTurned Cup to do it...
Kappi also checks out the misty/smokey area behind the chair.

Davosh dances with aplomb

Vojtek Wartooth |

Vojtek takes a knee in his exhaustion, but the combat was rather quick, and he soon recovers. With a reverent tone, he peppers the spell casters with questions about the power they wielded. He is exceptionally impressed, and makes his admiration tinged with a bit of fearful apprehension plain on his face.
After a bit of searching, he comes to his friend Edward and asks Apsu's blessing in restoring his cracked tooth. Vojtek opens his hand to display the bloody tooth, and with his finger he starts poking at it gently to clear away some of the snow and forest debris from his palm.

GM thunderspirit |

Kappi sees images in the misty smoky air — faces from his past, other faces he does not recognize — but cannot concentrate on them long enough to see them clearly.
OOC note: this appears to be what was turned into the map on the floor either late in writing or in editing; as such, there's no description of this part of the room at all, so mechanically it doesn't do anything. But hey, I thought Kappi might enjoy playing with some visions. :-)
Edward drops his life link to the Northman and does some cosmetic dentistry with his cure spells instead.

Davosh the Wanderer |

"We're not done here yet lads. I've got little magic left, but my Eye isn't tired. Kappi, once you've finished your searching of the room, would you be so kind as to pass judgement on that door?"

Davosh the Wanderer |

Davosh looks HARD at Ali. She can't exactly tell why, but as he does, she can feel some of her wounds knitting themselves back together Healing Hex: 2d8 + 6 ⇒ (7, 5) + 6 = 18

Kappi Matarito |

The Varisian lad quickly steps back as he traces Desna's wings in the air, to ward off evil. Davosh, take a look at this. I want nothing to do with it.
Giving the misty images a wide berth, the lad gives the room a quick final search. perception 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (15) + 12 = 27
Then he goes down to the down in the south west corner. He listens first perception 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (19) + 12 = 31. Then opens it for the group.

I could have sworn I typed a post on Sat or Sun...
Edward tends to his friends needs. Through life link and a cure spell for the Northman.
Vojtek your anger and combat prowress are impressive, but you may have to give it a week or so before you bite anything that viciously again.
After Ed is done resting and healing himself from the lifelink damage, he gets up and follows Kappi away from the others while he checks the room.
Are you ok Kappi? The last combat seemed to bother you a bit. Was there someway I could have helped you more? Ed asks in a whisper voice full of concern.

Kappi Matarito |

Are you ok Kappi? The last combat seemed to bother you a bit. Was there someway I could have helped you more? Ed asks in a whisper voice full of concern.
Kappi is honestly a little confused by Edward's questioning concern. The bone monster has been dead or destroyed for the past five minutes and the lad has pretty much already forgotten about it.
He gives Ed an odd look, I'm fine, Now.. He holds a finger up to his lips for silence as he is trying to listen at the door.

GM thunderspirit |

Kappi investigates the door; he hears no sound fromt he other side, but finds the door is locked tight.

Kappi Matarito |

The Varisian lad is actually kinda happy he gets to pull out his uncle's old kit. He lays out the tool roll and makes a selection or two and starts feeling it out.
Disable Device 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (19) + 17 = 36

GM thunderspirit |

Kappi easily unlocks the door, merrily twirling the successful lockpick around his fingers after hearing the satisfying *click* with a wide grin.
Beyond, a flight of steps leads to a cool, earthen chamber beneath the hut that by all rights should not exist. A grinding sound fills the air, emanating from a millstone in the center of the room that turns endlessly, powered by some unknown force. Several small bins sit along the north wall, next to a few bulging sacks in the northeast corner. A small wooden box wrapped in chains sits in the southwest corner.
The bins along the wall contain potatoes, turnips, onions, and rutabagas, while the sacks in the corner contain several pounds of bone meal and dried grains.

Davosh the Wanderer |

Davosh grabs the lad by the shoulder, casting a spell of magical detection before letting him enter.

Kappi Matarito |

Davosh grabs the lad by the shoulder, casting a spell of magical detection before letting him enter.
Kappi leaps back behind the door jam at Davosh's warning.
When Davosh gives the okay to go forward, the lad's esteem for the strange Witch goes up another peg. The Varisian lad is sure that Davosh just saved his life from some invisible spirit of horror. Thanks the lad says and enters the room confident the only dangers inside will be physical ones.
Kappi looks around, Perception 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (5) + 12 = 17
The lad grabs an onion and pockets it. Certain it will come in handy later when they are fixing dinner.

GM thunderspirit |

Something within the box also radiates faint necromancy.

Davosh the Wanderer |

Davosh absentmindedly says to Kappi, "There's something to do with death magic in the box, can you check it before I open it?" Meanwhile he tries to identify the millstone Spellcraft: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (10) + 14 = 24

DEATH MAGIC
The lad's blood run's cold for a moment. Then he realizes Davosh is calling him up to the big times. He takes in a deep breath and holds it for a moment before letting it out. Then he bounces on the balls of feet and rolls his neck.
He walks over to the death box and examines it.
Perception/trap spotting 1d20 + 12 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 12 + 3 = 30

Vojtek Wartooth |

Vojtek begins to eat an onion as though it were an apple. On the tundra at the edge of the ice, onions are a staple as they are a hardy plant. The tang and burn of the onion remind him of home and he munches it thoughtfully while Kappi prepares for his inspection of the box.
The mention of death magic is concerning, but Vojtek is confident in his allies' abilities to deal with it.

GM thunderspirit |

Kappi sees no evidence of a trap on the chained box, but thinks he might be able to pick the lock on the chains.

Davosh the Wanderer |

"Excellent! We can become plump! I mean after we lock down this mobile hen house."

The lad has somewhat learned to accept Davosh's strange inspections, though he is a little nervous at hearing about these pyschopomps.
But at the Witch's order, he dutifully puts on the magic vest like it is a foul tasting medicine.

Kappi Matarito |

The young rogue goes back into the big room where the map is. He starts searching under all the chairs, asking Vojtek's help to move them. Then he starts going over the walls, looking for a secret door to another room.
Kappi tells the others he thinks we are missing something.
Perception 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (9) + 12 = 21

GM thunderspirit |

Returning to the map room, Kappi begins an exhaustive search, confident that something is awry. His companions join the search and discuss at length what they've found in the Hut.
Suddenly a croaky, high-pitched and angry voice coming from seemingly nowhere interrupts the party's conversation. You! By what rights to you go traipsing about my home! Shoo! Shoo, all of you! What kind of manners were you raised with, to gallivant about someplace that doesn't belong to you?!?

The voice is hesitant, but eventually it comes around to letting you know its name is Zorka as she becomes visible. She appears to be a hunched, old crone with a long bird's beak, donkey ears, horns, and stringy black hair. She wears a peasant’s dress with a red shawl tied tightly around her wizened head, but these articles do not serve to disguise her clawed hands or the scaly bird talons that are her feet.
Zorka is a kikimora, a fey creature also called a "house spirit." They are mischievous, but generally benign. She has resided inside the Hut for centuries, feigning to clean and maintain order, and is well versed in it.
Now you tell Zorka what the Black Rider gave you for my Hut. And you! she says, shouting at Vojtek, who has grabbed a sweetmeat off the table. Put that down! That belongs to Zorka. And that belongs to Zorka too! This last is aimed at Kappi, who has taken a moment to sit on a chair near the fire.

The Varisian lad leaps to his feet when Zorka snaps at him.
He comes closer to Zorka with his eyes downcast. He kneels before her and takes out the several pieces of sweetmeats he had already swiped from the table. He places them at her feet. Kappi does so in a reverent manner like placing an offering at the temple, or maybe a scared child giving back something he stole...
Kikimora were not uncommon among his Varisian people. While Kappi had never seen one before, the Old Woman of his caravan spoke of them sometimes.

I will work under the assumption that Vojtek also agrees, for reasons that will shortly become apparent.
The dying man nods gravely and replies with little more than a rough whisper. I thank you for your willingness to undertake that which I can no longer do.
He reaches into the wound out of which the ice spear protrudes and holds out his hand, soaked with blood. With his other hand he opens a small pouch, retrieving two items: a loop of coarse white hair, and a piece of a mask like those typically worn by plague doctors.
Black Midnight utters a groan of agony as he draws breath to speak again. The Hut has many keys — objects attuned to it — that can take it almost anywhere. I have managed to secure these two, but Elvanna stole their power to prevent anyone from using the Hut to find her mother. Once they are reactivated, placing the keys in the Hut's cauldron will retrace Baba Yaga's path.
As he says this last sentence, he drops the two items into his bloody palm. They immediately pulse and begin to glow, even as the man holding them breathes his last. As he expires, the robes and equipment he wears melt away like ice in a flame, leaving behind the body of an old man dressed in a simple black tunic; a translucent mist arises from the body and passes through each of you and you feel a surge of energy interlaced with a sense of duty.
The duty comes from a geas-like effect imposed upon you by Black Midnight to carry out that which you have promised to do; you are marked as favored servants of Baba Yaga, which is beneficial in the eyes of her allies...but not so much in they eyes of her foes.
The energy comes in the form of a permanent +2 increase to one ability score of your choice. Huzzah!
Lastly, this scene is worth a total of 2200 xp, meaning each player receives 440. Huzzah, again!
Zorka it's a pleasure to meet you. Ed opens while giving Davosh a questioning glance. The witch is much more versed on how to deal with spirits.
With the mention of the gifts, it sparks a memory in the oradin, he snaps his fingers and proceeds to rummage though his pack. Finding what he needs he pulls out the two items wrapped up in a cloth. Come everyone as Ed heads to the cauldron. He stops after a step kicking himself for being so rude. Zorka, I apologize will you please join us at the cauldron?
As everyone gathers around, he hands the loop of hair, and dr's mask to Davosh. You should have the honor of completing the task. Baba Yaga is the queen of witches after all.
