Davosh pets Liska and holds the crystal in hand.

Ready.

By now Kappi is well used to Davosh's strange talk. The Varisians are a traveling folk, they don't have barns...

But none-the-less the lad nods in affirmation to the strange Wanderer.

Five-star Hound of Tindalos. Er, GM. Whatever. | RoW Encounter Map |

A two-story wooden hut dominates this clearing. The hovel stands on enormous chicken legs that restlessly scratch at the ground, but a gigantic manacle of iron, attached to a huge chain bolted to a spike in the earth, shackles the hut in place. An osseous fence surrounds the structure, and two corpses are impaled upon the sharpened bone pickets. A few ravens hop and flutter over the bodies, picking at the choicest bits of flesh.

The bodies impaled on the fence outside are those of a man with red hair, antlers, and hoofed goat legs; and a white-clad, pale-skinned woman with white hair, still crowned with the remains of a holly wreath.

DC 16 Kn (nature):
These are Baba Yaga's other two Riders — the Red Rider, her "Red Sun," and the White Rider, her "Bright Morning" — killed by Queen Elvanna and displayed in front of the Dancing Hut as tributes to her success.

A crystalline construct, which you recognize as an ice golem, stands silent vigil near the opening where the antilife effect once stood. No other entities can be seen.

Davosh:
Davosh's see invisibility is still up, and he can see two figures just east of the fence; one he recognizes as Radosek Pavril, whom the party chased away from the Pale Tower, and the other, wearing a silver circlet, is likely Nazhena Vasilliovna.

I suppose I should thank you for ridding me of this fey incursion, a woman's cold voice says, seemingly from nowhere, but we both know what you've cost me already.

    Round 1

As Edward enters the clearing mists start to form clouding, yet sharpening the sights set before him. The Hut looms large, the mists forming black paths leading him to the chain that binds. The chain is pulsing with a swirling red miasma. Everytime the hut pulls against the bond the earth contracts, and the chicken leg sizzles and swirls red. Edward feels the Mantle of the Black Rider pulling him, urging him to complete his task.

Help It! Set it FREEE enters his conscience. Is that the Hut Edward thinks? But then he knows it wasn't, It was a more familiar voice it was his God Apsu blessing his actions urging him to stop the evil Queen of Irrisen by setting free this Dancing Hut.

Understanding that his life link will stay with Vojtek and Kappi Edward acts with the urge and runs straight past the slow Golem and bounds up the bone fence up and over towards his goal. The goal of freeing the hutt.

It's technically a double move to get to the fence, but I'll use Edward's Acrobatics to say...

Edward races past the golem and leaps onto the fence, starting to climb, though he doesn't make any real progress yet.

He manages to get over the fence and moves to the back of the area, where a large, thick bluish-white chain of some unknown metal shackles both legs together and is connected to a sizable column of granite protruding a few feet out of the permafrost. Edward's presence seems to have agitated the Hut, as it shifts from one chicken leg to the other, almost pacing.

Ali's blade blazes forth, and while her sword doesn't seem to cut as deeply as she thought her strike would, the fire certainly does! The construct appears to be on its last legs!

It's not "super bad" yet, but it's got serious potential...

Davosh ends round 2 with a morningstar to Vojtek's head!

    Round 3
    Ali (blind)
    Edward
    baddies 1
    Kappi (blind)
    Vojtek
    baddies 2
    Davosh

Ali and Edward are up! Edward still needs to make his initial save vs. the confusion effect.

FYI: If you failed the Will save for confusion, you need to make the d100 check on the confusion chart at the beginning of your turn to see what your action is; at the end of your turn, you may make another DC 13 Will save to attempt to overcome the gibbering. Once you successfully save, you are immune for 24 hrs.

Also FYI: for those blinded by glitterdust, each round at the end of your turn you may attempt new saving throws to end the blindness effect.

Joe mentioned on Slack that he is pretty busy. I'll post for him.

Joe has ridiculous paladin saves, looks like he can auto save for the confusion effect

    Edward the Oradin!!!!

Grappled by the super gross gibbering monster, the Oradin casts Liberating Command and does his best to escape the disgusting clutches of said monster.

    Escape Artist 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (19) + 8 = 27

Edward could still roll a 1, so I'll still need a roll for the Will save...but it can just be a d20 with no modifier.

This does bring up an interesting question, though: even though it's an Immediate action, do you still need a concentration check when grappled?

  • Paladin: 1d20 ⇒ 12 I don't think you need the check but I say that because it would make immediate action spels ike Feather Fall weird.

Well...there's also the "two Immediate action" thing (Immediate to cast, Immediate to Escape Artist) since the rules say an Immediate is the same as a Swift and therefore you only get one or the other each turn.

Research suggests some variation. I'm going to say it does require a concentration check. However, I'm not going to screw Edward by going with the RAW, strict interpretation of the Immediate action thing. It does seem clear to me that the intent is to liberate someone else, but again, I'm not screwing a creative solution.

    BTW, Will save successful.

Of course, I don't see it on his Oracle spell list either, when I was looking up his concentration check modifier...

    Round the Third
Vojtek looks around slowly at Davosh incredulously. He touches his hand to a rapidly growing lump just below his hairline on his forehead and winces a bit. Vojtek avoids looking at The Eye, and with a wariness borne of his revenance for the ancestors, puts up his defenses... just in case. But in his confused state, the barbarian cannot let the assault go by unanswered. Vojtek winds up and delivers a quick kick to Davosh's snowcone (tundra speak for junk)

    Fighting Defensively: 1d20 + 11 - 4 ⇒ (14) + 11 - 4 = 21 for 1d3 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8 non-lethal damage.

Not yet. I'm waiting on Edward cos I don't want him to be shafted by the way things currently stand. He's got a few options and I want him to make the decision, not me.
