Not sure how much control I have over the cable, but Richard is not trying to pull the robot all the way to him, but rather prevent it from getting to melee with the others until they can finish off the other robot.

Maruf snarls as the robots fall, then draws in a deep guttural snort that somehow seems to puff him up, make him more powerful. All leveled! Perception went up to +8.

"Right, right, Alpha. You're much more solid than those puny things. Speaking of which," he says as he grabs his spear off the ground. "I need something to hit. Let's check out those doors over there." He moves to open the doors to the west in the room.

"I think I'm getting the hang of this thing." Richard smiles as he reels in the grapnel to his new weapon and reseats the spike into the barrel with a click.

Before the Cobbler can kick open the next door, he steps past him and holds up a hand. "Before we move on, I'd like to take a closer look at the symbols on this wall. For all we know, this room could hold a clue to what's going on down here."

Could I retry Linguistics now that we have more time and have leveled up?

"Shoes. There's an idea!" Richard pauses in his note-taking to consider the Cobbler's unintentional suggestion. "Do you have any ideas for something that could work with that Kharax? Maybe something to help me get around a little quicker, increase traction, put a spring in the step. I'd be willing to invest a good amount of silverdisks to aid any research. And I think I've made some contacts within town, so I could boost your reputation with a few good words if you like."

Trying to keep items close to the campaign theme. Maybe daredevil boots or a Dexterity item?

Sorry, spent last week trying to catch up with posts and real life.

After defeating the two robots, everyone in the party suddenly feels more powerful, skilled, experienced. Heading through the western doors, you find the north door opens to a corridor leading to the main entry chamber. The southern door opens to large chamber. An immense machine looms to the south of this room, its upper portion obscured by tangles of hanging cables and cords. The device looks something like an enormous oven, its front open with a rotating belt of green leathery material connecting to a wide metal table. Metal desks with flashing lights sit to the east, while a second rotating belt of leather moves through an opening in the east wall. Two dead orcs lie at the base of this second belt.

As you enter, you all notice a robot made of what appears to be burnished brass, this construct resembles a suit of armor with a glowing glass orb for an eye. It moves to engage you!

Richard fires the grapnel gun, hitting the robot and embedding the grapnel! The robot's hard exterior seems to negate most of the damage!

Maruf tosses a bottle of lightning, hitting the robot and short circuiting it for a moment!

@GM: the grapnel gun spike is adamantine, right? Or is this a different kind of DR? Also, can I disengage the grapnel spike somehow while a spiked enemy is still up?

Richard drops his grapnel gun and grabs a small glowing bottle from his haversack. Aiming the end at the robot, he pulls a small trigger, opening the end and releasing an arc of electricity across the room.

Heh, yesterday we took a "guided" "daylong" tour of Rome. We left at sunrise, drove 3+ hrs to Rome, was given a map, and told we had four hours. After walking through the Vatican Museum/Sistine Chapel in an hour and a half, we basically had to forced march across the city to make it back to the rendezvous point. We did the Coliseum in 7 minutes, saw the Pantheon as we breezed by, and saw little else. It sucked.

Yeah, tours like that are hit-and-miss.

In NZ we went on a few LOTR tours (of course) and most of them were great but one was a bust. Three of them were really in depth and helped you recreate scenes from the movies and take pictures with props and stuff but the last one we did had a guide who didn't even know much about the movies and just parked on the side of the road and said, "Ok, see those hills over there? That's where they filmed most of the Rohan scenes but it's private property and we can't go over there. Oh, and here is the woods where they filmed Boromir's death scene but I can't remember which tree it was so sorry about that." It was pretty lame compared to the others where we actually stood in the place where Bilbo got Sting from Gandalf (and got to use props to recreate it!) or where the hobbits had their Shortcut to Mushrooms/"get off the road!" moment in Fellowship.

Since we are now entering the final battle of Book 1, I might as well break the news: some time ago I discussed it with the GM and decided that after we finish Book 1 Maruf will be setting up permanent shop in Torch and not continuing with the rest of the AP. This has been a great group but I am just swamped this semester/year and need to cut back on a few games and frankly the technology is just a bit overwhelming. I already don't really like keeping track of too many magic item abilities and I honestly haven't been keeping up with what all the tech does and don't have much interest in adding that whole aspect to an already overwhelming/complicated game system. As I am about to finish book 2 with my own group, I can tell that that is going to hamper my enjoyment of the AP so I decided that this just isn't the AP for me and my time would be better devoted elsewhere. (I will also be putting the axe to my own game once we finish book 2.)

Thanks for all the good times everyone! I'll be around for a little while longer while we finish this final fight and then I'll RP Maruf's desire to stay in Torch while you tramp about Numeria. Always stop back to Maruf's Cobbling for all of your alchemical needs in the future!

I'm not too surprised to hear you are bowing out. You've had a lot going on in PBP lately and I've noticed your posts, while always excellent, seem to have been coming less often. I hope you can find a balance and not burn out.

Now, how is everyone else doing? I love this game - the technology, the weirdness, and the background of region - but I sense we might have been loosing steam.

No, I'm not really burning out and I'll still be around. But whereas I could easily update all my games once a day before (and often more than once a day), this semester I am struggling to do so. So rather than letting all my games slow to a crawl I've been trying to cut back the number of games I am in and running for the past few months. Of course, I still want to keep up on running the new scenarios as they come out so that I don't fall behind and have a big backlog to run some day in the future. Hopefully soon I'll be down to a more manageable number though and my posts will return to my once per day average.

Don't know, it'll probably be later than anticipated due to John Compton having to cover the Campaign Coordinator job on top of his own duties


We'll all miss EF and the Cobbler. I'm know it's been obvious that I have been dealing with RL pressures as well, but I'm still in it for the long haul. Anybody know someone we can tap as a replacement?

I'd say we can just continue on and disperse chronicles whenever it is eventually sanctioned.

Any word on a replacement player?

Also, just a bump to remind the GM that we have a few unidentified tech items. I'd like to clean up the loot list and get a more accurate count of gold we can spend on upgrades.

I'm interested in boots of dexterity +2. Cost is 2000gp if Kharax crafts them, but assuming the treasure is split evenly that doesn't leave me much for anything else.

On a separate note, Richard picked up a level in gunslinger - is able to salvage a battered firearm from somewhere or do I need to spend the full cost?

Ok, PC creation consists of a 25 pt buy, three traits (one campaign trait), and there is a list of always available feat and a collapsed feat tree. You have 6000 gp to purchase equipment.

Do you mean the Cyber-Soldier Fighter Archtype? You could get a cybernetic arm for 4750gp (or half price for a timeworn version), but that wouldn't leave you much gold for other things, unless Tektite would give you some sort of deal?

Anyway, I think that would be pretty cool, and a nice fit in the group.

A note: you might want to create Lewden as a normal Messageboard Alias rather then a Pathfinder Society Chararacter. He won't ever be PFS legal, and you're basically burning a PFS registered number that you probably won't use because of that.

You can change the name of the PFS alias to a placeholder since you haven't posted 10 times with it so you can create a new alias with the name Lewden.
