The wound was rough, but not so rough that Heto wasn't able to ignore it. He knew that sometimes ignore wounds worked out for the better sometimes not...

He spins in place and attacks again.

Attack 1: 1d20 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 3 + 1 = 9
Attack 2: 1d20 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 3 + 1 = 16
Damage 1: 1d8 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 2 + 1 = 4
Damage 2: 1d8 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 2 + 1 = 7

Genesis hasn't posted again so we will let the rest of the group handle this baddie round 2 is complete. Vladlena you are up again, FINISH HIM!

the "crazed Invertebrate" lashes at little Vladlena once again.

The attack bears down on the halfling it's pincers heading towards the halflings throat. The moment before impact there is a flicker of blue light and the centipede is deflected back.

Heto realizing that the battle needs to end before anyone gets seriously injured targets the wounded carapace driving his fist through the exoskeleton felling the last of the abnormally large insects.
combat over!

Norna examines the acolytes for injuries and, finding nothing to heal, assures the one that "You will make a full recovery with a day's rest."

She smiles at their thanks but insists, "Thank you for accompanying us into danger!"

"Now, let's see what is inside the sarcophagus!" Norna enthuses, her eyes glittering with anticipation.

snicker. I couldn't resist the description. "Crazed invertebrate". A little bit of comic book hypebole. Still I did burn it so it may be crazed with pain.

Lena moves into the inner crypt and sees burlee on the floor.

Oh burlee, you're going to need another bath now. Still let's see whats making that magic glow behind you.

note to self, practice flame bolts. Further note, kick eldon for making noise. Further further note, buy candy for burlee, then arrange another bath. So much for the life of adventure. I bet this doesn't get in one of eldon's stories. Or maybe it will. Might improve them. After all when they are at rock bottom, the only direction is up. What was I supposed to be doing again. Oh yeah the magical goodies

And so lena's thoughts rambled in her head.

hey she is chaotic

Burlee sighs, getting up, using his axe as a crutch before cracking his back. "Oi, Lassie, let meh swim in victree fer a liddle, woul'ya?" He looks around, surveying the damage. Noofa-Lumpa is fine, Reddy is fine, an Acolyte is shaken...nothing huge. It was rather wonderfully easy...a little too wonderfully easy.

He looks behind him at the sarcophagus. He has no idea what to expect, but we apparently need it opened for one reason or another. Something about clearing a name or something. Who knows? "'Ey, on'er you tall men. Get yer pansy arses o'er herre soo we cen open 'is thin'." He looks around him. "Ah coul' prolly open it mahself, bu' if a Boog-Mancerr is hidin' in there, Ah dun wanna be the onlay wone covered en boogs." He says this quietly, stepping up to the sarcophagus and getting ready to push it open.

Burlee has unlocked a new class! The Bug-Mancer, mancer of bugs!

"...and then I went up to him and said..."

Eldon looks around and sees everyone's moving on. "Hey! I was...!"

How rude of them, to not listen to the entire story!

Offended, Eldon follows into the room with the sarcophagus. Though he keeps his distance from Burlee, who managed to make himself dirty again.

Heto take a moment before moving, breathing deep and calming himself from the combat. Switching between mental states wasn't hard and could be done quickly, but Heto prefered the regimen, prefered the process of it all.

He walks towards the sarcophagus and takes a spot opposite Burlee ready to help.

There is still blood trickling down Heto's neck from the bite but there is work to be done he moves on paying it no mind. Besides, all the more excuse to keep quiet...

Heto and Burlee grab the large stone lid and attempt to lift it off, the weight seems to be more than anticipated and after a few grunts and groans they decide to shimmy it off the sarcophagus. Burlee motions to Heto to place it on the ground behind the stone casket and then just lets his end fall abruptly to floor catching Heto by surprise but who is able to narrowly crushing his fingers under the weight. Once opened the Sarcophagus begins to radiate significantly stronger auras as they are no longer hindered by the stone lid.
I'm lumping the entire lot together and raising the DC slightly in order to not make a ton of posts in regard to the loot

Spellcraft 15:
a dozen silver arrows, four sunrods, six flasks of holy water, 10 +1 arrows, five +1 ghost touch arrows, two +1 undead bane arrows, five potions of cure light wounds, two potions of lesser
restoration, a scroll of detect undead, two scrolls of hide from undead, a scroll of protection from evil, and a thin darkwood case decorated with an image of a scarab with a single eye glaring from its back(similar to that on the book with the lock back at the house)

The Darkwood Case:
The case once opened reveals a exquisite quality board with the entire alphabet inlaid in the wood. Near the bottom of the case there is a hand sized bronzed scarab that has a piece of glass in the center of its back. Upon closer inspection you can see that this scarab can be removed from the case without harming it.

DC knowledge religion 15:
The Darkwood case appears to be a spirit planchette, commonly used to speak with spirits on the ethereal plane. Depending on the quality of the planchette the user can ask more in depth questions with more complex answers. This appears to be a low quality device, it will be able to ask up to 3 yes no questions per day or one more difficult question.

If you are satisfied with your findings the Acolytes seem eager to get back and report to Father Grimburrow but per his orders can't leave you unattended. They have seen the loot, they don't stake a claim to it but insist you speak with the cleric officially acquiring the goods.

Burlee 1, Genesis 2, Heto 3: 1d3 ⇒ 21d3 ⇒ 3

"I would think that front-line persons would be the best for the potions of restoration, so I suggest - after considerations and calculations too complicated to communicate with concision - that Genesis and Heto each take one. I, as the most religiously-oriented, will hold the spirit communicator for now."

I edited the arrows in the loot kit but forgot to change them in the post. All the arrows being the 12 silver, 5 ghost touch or the 2 undead bane should instead read bolts as they currently fit the parties needs better.

After a few minutes of dividing up the assorted loot the party is escorted out of the tomb by the two acolytes. There is a somber feeling as you walk down the Black Path back towards the temple. If the professor's journey entries were correct what lies up at the harrowstone?

The dreary feeling seems to pass as you walk through the threshold of the temple doors. The fresh smell of incense fill the air as the cleric is deep in prayer kneeling at the shrine of Pharasma just behind the pulpit in the front of the sanctuary. The acolytes motion you to be quiet and take a seat within the now completely vacant pews. A few minutes of silence pass finally broken by the groans of the old man as he stands back up. Ah I see you have returned! Did you fi....What Happened to you all? The cleric takes notice to the black bile that covers most of the party. The acolytes explain in detail how the party was attacked and how you all protected them from sure death. They also explain that the crypt was empty of bodies like you all assumed. They also inform Father Grimburrow that the lock was already cut before you all entered the crypt and the contents of the sarcophagus.

Father Grimburrow looks at the party with troubled eyes considering his words before he speaks. I find it unsettling that such tools resided in the Restlands without my knowledge. I haven't use for these items so by all means keep them as payment for protecting the lads. The strange stories of the harrowstone might also be more than just old wives tales, while I can't condone any actions trespassing on the prison grounds if you were to find yourself there all the same may Lady Pharasma guide your steps.

Burlee looks at the scarab, almost drooling, at first. "Ah got noo idear wut 'at is, boot Ah did sey som'ing aboot boogs." Burlee nods triumphantly, not really remembering what he said, but remembers it was loosely about bugs. After all the loot was gifted, he realized he received nothing but a flask and a potion, items that are worth nothing and normally taste nasty.

The scarab looks pretty, and worth quite a bit of coin, but Burlee is unsettled by it. He feels like he knows something about it, but it's covered by a fog inside of his brain. He stares at it, the lines deepening in his brow as he tries to recourse and remember something, anything about the item. Suddenly, he realizes he's hungry and turns to begin his waddling back. "Bah, yooseless itims. Non'er'em cen feed meh."

Arriving at the Temple, he sat in the seat he sat last time, looking at random items sprawled across the area. He picks some up and looks at it, not really caring what it's about, like a child who just wants to fill in his boredom. He sighs, and his tummy growls.

He watches the children beg Grandpa Grimburrow for presents. He figured he'd join. He went next to Eldon, looking at him for a moment before getting on his knees. He was shorter than Eldon, then, but it was all for effect. He swept his less-curly beard, still rather soaked in bile, over his shoulder, and said with the highest voice her could muster "Oh, yis Faddah. Shoo oos tha wey!" He held his hands to his face and blinked at the old man to flourish his adorability (Is that even a word?). He cracked his signature smile, showing off his corn-kernel colored teeth.

Father Grimburrow staggers back as Burlee smiles his toothy grin, looking down at the dwarf he starts nervously rubbing the back of his neck and turns to Eldon. Well No, We've had other daily matters to attend too, if you are in a hurry like i said you could talk to the councilmen but you might be able to talk to Alendru Ghoroven over at the Unfurling Scroll, He done went and converted the old school-house some years back and i think he lets some folk go and look through his collection from time to time. But like i said when one of the boys is available ill get them to look through the archives.

The party leaves the temple of Pharasma and heads south along the road. You pass several fields and a couple more lavish houses then the one's seen in town. You approach a grey stone bridge that is encapsulated by wooden covering that spans the length of the bridge. The wooden top creaks and moans as you pass through the bridge off in the distance you see the lumbering statue of Warden Hawkren overlooking the river.

Silver Crusade

Male Human Fighter/ Level 1

Genesis couldn't help but feel rather uneasy. He hadn't really conversed in awhile but it was simply because he was out of his element. There was a difference between hunting for something and being hunted themselves. He had this feeling since the false crypt that he should be more cautious from now on. It might have been rather simple at first but he had a sense of foreboding cloak him. He couldnt tell his companions, lest he cause them unnecessary distress.

Eldon-you notice up by the posting poles on the other side of the river a black and white blur sprinting south down the road disappearing into the darkness of the night.

"Uhm... fellow companions... there was something there... It was really fast, and I feel like it was watching us from close to the posting poles." Eldon swallows, and anxiously looks at the other members of the party.

Speak with animals:

"FeFe! You're mother, Jominda, misses you very much! Please come back, we just want to help you!"

(Cat speech is surprisingly information-dense.)

Norna- you try to hush the party while you wait for a response but hear only the huffing and puffing of the waddling dwarf as he pushes across the bridge. Whatever seemed to rush into the darkness seems to have either ignored what you had to say or didn't hear you at all.

Lena - "It's a gnome thing; you wouldn't understand." :-P My mistake, though: only Eldon actually saw it.

i assume through his frightful description the cunning gnome figured out what he thought he saw and reacted.

Eldon stares at Norna while the party continues their way to the mansion. "Aha... thank you for your.... unique insight in this matter..."

I'm so glad I got the mansion's key.
