Wren inspects the chambers to the south, which appear to have been the living quarters for the mi-go. Strange, fungal webbing drapes the walls of the octagonal chambers, lit by dim lights that slowly fade from one peculiar colour to another. A low hum, just at the limits of hearing, buzzes constantly in the background.

However, she does not find anything of note.

Where to, kiddos?

Bronin, always a man for action a few steps ahead of being a man of thinking, sees that Wren is moving to confront the big guy in the cave to the upper eastern section. That is dangerously close to the Mi-go's, but he moves forward to be the vanguard and protect.
We have women that need protecting. Let me go first and be in harms way. He then moves to see the opening of the cave and peers in.

As you head eastwards, the mi-go exit through what amounts the rear entrance of the cavern and out into the lake to escape you. You head over to a cave entrance.

Bones and the remains of rotten carcasses litter the floor of this
dark cavern. The smell of wet fur hangs heavy in the air.

Although Wren recalls seeing a horrible creature in here earlier, the cave seems empty.

.

Wren casts see invisibility, and spots a gigant gug in front of her, crouching in plain sight, trying very, very hard to be quiet. It does not appear to have noticed she cast a spell.

This towering menace has a horrible, vertically aligned mouth and arms that split at the elbows into twin clawed hands.

Knowledge Dungeoneering DC 25:

The creature before you is a gug. Gugs are inhuman monstrosities that dwell in the deep places of the world. Whether they were banished to the dark lands by ancient gods or the light-loving races they terrorized, or perhaps were brought to the deep realms by dark powers from some even more inhuman nightmare realm, is unknown, but gugs are loathed by other races for their carnal rites of slaughter.[/b][/i]

[spoiler=Dungeoneering DC 30]
This is likely the rare savant gug - gugs which have been blessed with powers by evil gods. They are capable of some spells to mold the rock around them, but do not have any particular attacks or weaknesses of note.

Bronin sees the Gug and the crazy long arms it has. It'll take some hard work to get inside it's reach, maybe some painful work.
WhiskeyJack is pumped and pushing on Bronin to get his hammer on the things face. With Whiskey and Adder there, they can hold the line as Bronin does something strategic.

I'll move into the cave and try to position myself to let us flank it. Whiskey, if you can keep that thing from getting to the girls. That thing will rend and our girls are delicate.

Former Lord Bronin moves along the baseline of the cave, ready to pounce if it moves toward the main group or ready to go toe to toe and let Adder flank it.

The group lays upon the gug, moving in sync as the continue to adapt working together as anew team. It is quite effective as within seconds the monstrosity is dead.

End of Combat

The horror collapses to the ground and you take a moment to inspect the room. Unfortunately there's not much to find here, mostly just the bones of a mixture of skum and humans.

Wow, I thought I'd seen some amazing sword work in my time - but Adder you take the marzipan! Or Iozina as my people call it.

I hope it's not insulting, but I have never met human, elf, or half-Orc with the skill and ferocity that you have shown? Who was your master? Or at least tell me where did you learn to fight like that?

There's some dwarven fighters He gives a head nod to WhiskeyJack that I have heard of fighting in pits and gladiator rings, but what you just did was so very un-Golorian.

He says this as he moves himself and ushers the rest to proceed in a western direction. Bronin fully expecting the others to follow his lead and for Adder to give him background on his martial prowess.
I made arrows and moved character.

Lena looks at the dwarf. You OK, Whiskeyjack? That hit was rather solid looking.
As Bronin walked out the door, she wondered aloud, Where's he going?

Whiskeyjack sank to the ground and pulled out his rather depleted wand. He began tapping himself, muttering thanks to Angradd as he did.

"I be feelin' better now, lass, bu' tha' were a big thumpin', no doubt. How abou' ye? Ye're wee brain be knittin' i'sself back t'gether again after th' mind suckers?"

Adder seems uncomfortable with the praise.

"Where? I been fighting since young age. Fight to survive, fight to eat, fight to stay warm or dry. You fight enough you learn to kill. Maybe one day I no longer need to kill."

The half-orc shrugs.

"But probably not."

Well, I have a slight ringing in the ear, and a strange desire for roast chicken. Mmm, chicken

Lena stares at potpie for a long second.
where was I. Oh yes, brain suckers. No real issues. After all those weeks with Eldon, and then the crazy bird elf, I kinda took it in stride.

Wren looks around the room, trying to figure out why the creature retreated to the west while others heal.

”You did well, my Dearies, especially you Mr. Adder. You listen to me and that is good,” Wren coos as she looks about.

Elena pulls the large chicken close to her as if it were a small child she were protecting and glares at Lena silently. She grabs ahold of Potpie and drags the chicken along by the crook of his neck.

She follows behind, tapping the wand to herself as they walk.

CLW (Elena): 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6

Stowing the wand she draws her kitchen knife (dagger) back out. "Where did you all learn to fight like that. You are all so amazing and I...I want to try and help out." She was afraid to admit how scared she was and that she really just ran away from home with little more than is on her.

To which Lord Bronin offers empathy and a reply.

That is a shame Adder. I give you the highest compliment when I say that you are amazing for having been street taught. See, with the Ascari people it is all about a village raising a child. I do not pretend to know or understand your plight - for my childhood was full of privilege, community, and structure. It is my goal to regain my throne and have you find those same values -and maybe rest- in my community.
To answer VestalLena's question
I learned to fight from my mother- leader of the Marascar and Aradel remnant and honed by competition with my older brother and others in the tribe.

Bronin slows as he sees that others are healing, not exactly realizing that the pool of blood around the monster did have some dwarven red mixed in.
It really wasn't his fault, it's just so hard to see Dwarven blood, with it always being thinned by the sheer amount of alcohol in their veins.
Sorry about that FlamingLena and Whiskeyjack. When you are ready, we will press onward toward more enemies.
He says this, but only paused for the briefest of a minute (10 rounds for the healing) and moves onward.

Adder nods along.

"I too know what it is to fight with brothers. I had to kill several of them when they came for me. Always difficult the youngest."
