Filk wonders if he should feel guilty because he is quite happy that the mites are attacking Atrix instead of him. But only two mites left, and this thought helps him carry on attacking.

The team finally finishes off the mites, who have the normal stuff.

"Annoying buggers, but I guess that was the last of them."

With the last of the mites falling, Filk relaxes a bit. The mites weren't dangerous as such, but in great numbers they can do a lot of harm - as he can tell from his wounds.

Filk hands his wand of cure light wounds to FiJeet to get him back in shape.

After looking around at the usual loot, and destroying the slime... "Let's keep going."

The team moves forward to the door. Atrix opens the door, revealing a room full of cabinets. A man stands near the back of the room, and three creatures with bloated frames shudder with each heaving step, yet despite their shape, they move with surprising quickness.

“So, the heroes have arrived. Try not to make a mess when
you die—I have great plans for your remains.” says the man.

"The slimy things are dretch. Foul demons from the Abyss. Cold, acid, and fire have less effect on them, with poison and electricity being useless. Great. More s$** that is immune to my magic."

She casts daze on the man, but it does not seem to affect him.

The purple dretch hawks and spits at thew party, causing a large pool of sliminess to be created. As if the grease spell None of the party manages to fall in the gross, slimy stuff.

Then, blue points at Atrix, while green points at Filk, causing their sphincter to clench! Both go pale, as they realize that these creatures are their worst nightmare, and are frightened by them!

As Filk begins to crap himself... Fijeet casts unbreakable heart on him.

Atrix puts on a stiff upper lip, and though her bowels were about to open up, barely overcomes the fear. Filk, on the other hand, only stays around due to FiJeet's spell!

All of Filk's instincts tell him to flee from these demonic creatures. And if not for FiJeet's reassuring words, he would he running already. With the newfound courage, he settles for destroying the beasts as quickly as possible.

The man steps up, and his eyes glow in an eerie black and purple unlight. He points, and the eerie unlight reaches out and engulfs FiJeet, Atrix, and Filk.

"Bastard must be a cleric! That was a inflict light wounds, mass, spell!" She then tries to daze the supposed cleric, but fails to affect him.

She then slices into the first slimy creature she reaches, but its rubbery skin resists her blade. Her blade cuts in, but not deeply.

The maroon slimy thing attacks Atrix! It is only able to hit once.

The man again gets a look, and the eerie purple unlight is created, touching the same three again. All three take the full brunt of the profane assault. FiJeet is looking particularly not good after that.

Filk mumbles a litany of curses as he almost slips on the puddle of goo under him. But moving carefully, he manages the move away from the slippery stuff.

The horrifying creature is still there, far too close. Filk tries to smash some loose rocks into the dretch, but in his fear fails to hit it.

The man giggles as Atrix goes down, saying, "Yes, my pretties! Finish them off!"

It is at this exact time, that the slimy things disappear in a poof of smoke! "Oh!" he says, as if he had forgotten that he had summoned the creatures. He draws his rapier, as he moves up towards Filk, the table acting as cover for both of them.

Valerka moves up, and applies a healing wand to Atrix.

Filk grins as the demon creatures disappear, and the man is alone. Some debris on the table shudder slightly, before shooting towards the man.

"Getting a bit cheeky, are you?" he asks, as he steps back. "Well, you didn't think I was out of these, did you?" Once again, the foul energies surge out, hitting Atrix and Filk, as well as himself. While the two adventurers are hurt by it, he appears to be healed. Atrix, in particular, collapses once more.

Filk jumps on the table behind him, giving some space for Valerka to retreat. There he shoots a pebble towards the man, but the stone flies far above the target.

Fijeet starts to stumble forward..

and maneuvers around the ugly fat man.. "you lied to me! I was nice to you!"

Before going to punch him in the back.

The mad gnome moves up, but manages to miss the man.

The man then looks to the gnome, "And it was glorious playing you like you play your little drums!" he taunts. "Oh, I am so lonely! I almost remember.... Such a lovely deception!"

He then stabs at Atrix, missing, before stepping back.

Suddenly, with a hideous retching and tearing sound, the man’s face blooms out like a rotten flower and a pallid, five-jawed worm extrudes itself from the ragged hole in the neck where, only a moment before, a head sat.

Filk groans. He really didn't want any new developments into this fight. As bad as the fight was going, he would have preferred fighting the crazy man instead of this... thing.

Wearily he straightens up, and takes a copper coin from his pocket. He breathes deep, and concentrates on the coin, which starts levitating between his outstretched hands. He exhales, and the coin shoots forward, faster than eye can see. It only makes sound as it hits the walking worm.
