Spellbound - Juliana West |
Spellbound doesn't mince words. She just unloads an eldritch bolt at Python.
Eldritch bolt: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10 (DC 27)
AKA: Longbow |
Longbow will briefly appear 15' closer to the blue truck as he shoots Python again, before disappearing again.
Attack (with Power Attack and All-Out Attack): 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (3) + 15 = 18
Stealth: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (9) + 18 = 27
GM Shady |
Sorry everyone, have been out with work for the last couple of days. Back now.
Longbow's arrow zings by Python, as she dodges out of the way, having already deftly avoided the bolt from Spellbound.
Python looks at Eoten, and spins into a kind of scissor kick, punching at the same time.
Attack: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (2) + 17 = 19 DC 18
Frostorm is on the other side of the truck to Eoten and can't see Longbow.
Frostorm's pistol buzzes again as he focuses it on another hero - this time Gracie. A bolt of white light whistles from the gun.
Attack: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (12) + 10 = 22 Ranged affliction DC20, Dodge; Hindered & Vulnerable/Defenseless & Prone/Paralyzed
Eoten - Giant of Albion |
Toughness Roll: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (4) + 17 = 21
The giant brute absorbs Python's spinning attacks, then erupts into a deep chuckle;
"Har! Yon caress is pleasing, but you still deserve mín ire Hægtesse!"
(Hægtesse in Old English means fury/witch/pythoness - pretty damned apt eh? :)
I'll leave my actual actions until Eoten's slot comes up, but thought it prudent to resolve the toughness roll to keep things trucking - hope that's okay GM-Shady?
Good Knight Gracie |
Just to be clear, I'm rolling dodge to avoid the affliction?(notFort/will etc?
Dodge: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14
So I should be Defenseless and Paralyzed
GM Shady |
@Gracie: It is indeed Dodge; you would be defenceless and prone, not defenceless and paralysed, however.
The freeze ray scores a glancing blow on Gracie, a cold blast knocking her over. The broken cannon beneath her catches its full effect, breaking into a myriad smithereens.
New round.
Protector is still locked in place, hanging in the sky. His chanting is getting louder, the words "Devorado is coming" over and over again.
Beneath him, the remains of the main part of the DICE helicopter continue to burn. Nobody has walked away from the wreckage.
The blue truck's engine starts up, evidently with a view to escape. Both Frostorm and Python seem to be taken by surprise by this turn of events, Frostorm emitting a string of curse words starting with "what the ...?"
A reminder on initiative: (groups are enclosed by braces - {}): Protector, Bandit truck, { Lightning, Gracie, Challenger }, Python, { Eoten, Longbow, Spellbound }, Frostorm. So Lightning, Gracie and Challenger are up.
Lightning Blade |
"Well, it looks like you're stuck with me now!"
Lightning Blade continues attacking Frostrom, aiming his thrusts more carefully.
Attack: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (20) + 11 = 31
That's a crit, so DC 24, plus the multiattack bonus.
Good Knight Gracie |
Since the cannon shattered to pieces, is there enough of a hole in the top of the truck that Gracie could go inside?
If so, Gracie's action will be to stand (move) and climb inside the truck (move)
If she can't, Gracie will stand and then leap toward the helicopter wreckage
Good Knight Gracie |
If she can do that in one round, that's what she'd do. It's sort of a jump/fall/climb which would be Athletics. I can make a check to see how far she could get.
Athletics: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (4) + 18 = 22

My first assumption was that no one could possibly have survived--although it's possible (and maybe Gracie would be more hopeful than I am--trying to work out her balance of pragmatism and nobility). Plus, as long as the cannons were active they were capable of finishing any further mooks on our side--or us--off easily, so that was a priority--stopping people from getting hurt is also protecting people. My second choice, rather than the first, was to check out the wreckage, only because my Defense is 0 at the moment, and getting into the truck would give me cover. Plus I'm slowed down so I might not even be able to get over to the crash. If it's infeasible for me to get into the truck, I'd still however move toward the wreckage.
Still, you have a turn coming up if you're concerned...
GM Shady |
Hi - am at work so won't deal with this till I get home. @Eoten, the explosion was so forceful - firstly a glancing impact from a rocket, secondly a direct hit from a rocket, thirdly a subsequent and spectacular crash - that it's unlikely anyone survived. Gracie's position on the prioritisation is I think correct, as in it's your call but nobody would blame you for following through in the way you have to this point.
@Gracie - bear in mind you start off in a prone position, so need to expend an action to get up. I'll try and figure out how far you get later.

Yes, I noted in my action post she was taking two move actions (as opposed to a move and a standard). She's at -1 speed increment. I don't know how big the truck is to have a sense of what it would take.
I feel like you're trying to come up with reasons for not getting into the truck. If you don't want me to get into the truck, then just say so so I can come up with a better plan.
GM Shady |

Not at all, I apologise for the false impression if so. M&M is (more so than PFRPG) a game where I need to maintain access to the rulebooks just in case, so if anything I'm stalling till I get home, is all.
GM Shady |
@Gracie - the truck is about 60ft long (the size of a fuel tanker). I think you've attacked two of the guns, let's say the second gun is in the middle, so you are I think 30ft along it as a starting point. I think your movement is 30ft so if you're at -1 speed you won't make it to the end by the end of your turn. Let me know if you disagree with that ... I can apply the acrobatics roll next turn.
Good Knight Gracie |
Is dropping prone a free action? If I can do as you describe (stand, move across the truck), and then drop prone again (to be less vulnerable to ranged attacks) I will do that.
GM Shady |
Dropping prone is indeed a free action, so that is indeed what you do.
Looking back, think I had Python's move in the wrong place last time. At any rate, we have it now.
Python, having missed Eoten with her kick, swears briefly and tries the same thing again, spinning round in a martial arts-style kick at the giant.
Attack: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (7) + 17 = 24 DC 18
Eoten can check for toughness, then Eoten, Longbow and Spellbound are up.
Eoten - Giant of Albion |
Toughness Roll: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (7) + 17 = 24
Again the looming giant shrugs off Python's wheeling kick.
"Ho-Ho Hægtesse! Now it is mín turn..."
Eoten swings a ham fist at the elegant martial artist;
Unarmed Attack (Punch): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17 DC28
(Will attempt Fast grab as part of the attack)
Spellbound - Juliana West |
Frowning at her poor aim, Spellbound throws another eldritch bolt at Froststorm.
Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5 (DC 27)
GM Shady |
Longbow's shot also misses.
The comm crackles once more into life "November Kilo? November Kilo, over? Please acknowledge. Delta 20 November Wing incoming with reinforcements. What is your status?"
Frostorm, seemingly unaware of this development, shouts to Python "Busy right now, dear. Will be there in a second."
He fires his gun at Lightning Blade this time, in an attempt to fend off the speedster.
Attack: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (19) + 10 = 29 Ranged affliction DC20, Dodge; Hindered & Vulnerable/Defenseless & Prone/Paralyzed
GM Shady |
New round: (groups are enclosed by braces - {} - those in bold are up after this post): Protector, Bandit truck, { Lightning, Gracie, Challenger }, Python, { Eoten, Longbow, Spellbound }, DICE, Frostorm.
Protector suddenly falls to the ground, not prone but on his knees. His face raised, he continues to chant:
"Devorado Estrellar! She comes, she comes. To Doggerland!"
The truck engages its reverse gear and manages to reverse around 100 yards, still with Gracie on top of it.
Good Knight Gracie |
I'm gonna see what Challenger and Lightning do before I post my action. Also, is the truck moving toward or away from the helicopter wreckage?
GM Shady |
Assuming the blue (villain) truck is moving (reversing north) of the main battle, it has reversed from a position where it was effectively dividing the battle into two. Apart from yourself, everyone can now see (and has LoS on) everyone else. The white (DICE) truck is due south, with the cab on fire.
The helicopter fell about 500 yards due east of the battle, with Protector hanging about 100ft up in the air (I think, need to check my notes, which are not to hand) in front of the wreckage. So to your question, the truck is moving away from the west-east axis on which the wreckage sits, but the delta isn't materially that great.
GM Shady |
1d20 + 14 ⇒ (8) + 14 = 22
Challenger lands on top of the blue truck's cab, his punch breaking through the roof. The truck judders to a stop. Inside the cab are no drivers, just a solid mass of now partly broken, sparking circuitry and wires.
From the back of the cab, Gracie can now hear a loud sizzling whistle, emitting from inside.
Lightning Blade |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
Dodge: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (15) + 15 = 30
Frostorm's attack barely glances off Lightning Blade's shoulder, leaving a patch of ice on his jacket.
"Hey, this suit is dry-clean only!"
He retaliates, sacrificing some accuracy for a more debilitating series of blows. Power attack, -3.
Attack: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10
Unfortunately, the damage to his outfit seems to be affecting his concentration.
Good Knight Gracie |
Since the truck has stopped, no one is coming out, and it's away from everyone else, Gracie nods thanks to Challenger and leaps 60 ft. back toward the fray (lowering from her normal range of 120 ft..
Her aim, if possible, is to move toward cover if she can find it, as the icy effect is still making it hard for her to move or defend herself well. (Leap is weirdly listed as a free action though I'm interpreting this as two move actions--get off the truck, find cover
How long do the afflictions last?
As she moves, she speaks into the comm that has recrackled to life. "Uh, November Wind? This is Gracie, Golf Hotel One. If you can hear me... November Kilo's down. The copter's down."
GM Shady |
@Gracie: The affliction is recoverable for now (in the sense you are no longer prone) but is cumulative so if you take a second hit it may freeze you. It (the cumulative vulnerability, not the effect) will last through the term of the combat. If you somehow manage to get frozen it can be overcome by damage.
As Gracie moves away from the truck, she can hear a loud pinging noise now starting from within the rear area.
"Roger, Gracie, acknowledge update. We have reinforcements and are coming in hot. Are there survivors from November Kilo? And what is status of Asset Zero? We will decloak in 20 seconds for information pulse, currently we believe we are five clicks away from you and closing, November Foxtrot over."
Frostorm, looking back, calls to Python: "The truck's blown, and the jammer's going to go. We'd better get out of here."
Python nods, "Tell me the plan, then! In the meantime, let's try something different"
The battle's no longer divided into two areas. She nimbly moves away from Eoten and over to Lightning Blade and tries out one of her rolling kicks, again ...
Attack: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (4) + 17 = 21
... but fails to connect.
Eoten - Giant of Albion |
Presuming Eoten, Longbow & Spellbound are up? If so...
As Python breaks away from the nullifying bout, Eoten glowers bellowing his frustration;
"Hægtesse! Hildlata! Face me!"
Hildata = coward in combat
He rumbles after the lithe martial artist, bringing both fist down hard on his Eastern foe;
"Fee! Fie! Fall!"
Unarmed All Out Attack: 1d20 + 7 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 7 + 5 = 28 DC28
-5 penalty on active defences until next round
AKA: Longbow |
Longbow will continue his trend of firing (this time at Frostorm) and then disappearing from view.
Attack Roll (With Power Attack and All-Out Attack): 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (14) + 15 = 29
Stealth Roll: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (1) + 18 = 19
GM Shady |
Frostorm is now dazed and -2 to future throws.
Frostorm takes the arrow from Longbow, knocking him slightly off balance.
He sighs, shrugs and drops his gun, looking around at the surrounding carnage.
"Alright, you got me. I surrender."
The pinging from the inside of the blue truck switches to a low drone for a couple of seconds, then there's an audible CRAKKK.
Protector falls forward, unconscious.
You're out of initiative.
Lightning Blade |
Lightning Blade flashes a cocky grin at Frostorm.
"Don't feel bad, it takes a lot to keep up with Lightning Bl-"
His taunting is interrupted when he notices Protector has fallen unconscious.
"Huh...well, that was easy!"
Good Knight Gracie |
Gracie answers the person on the comms. "November Foxtrot, the wreckage is pretty bad, I don't think anyone made it. As for-" she pauses, having trouble calling a person an "asset" but understands they also don't want to call him by name, "-as for our primary concern, he just passed out. Advice for securing him? Over."
Gracie rejoins the others and helps restrain the surrendering supers.
Can she knock out (with her Say Good Night! attack - i.e., a knockout punch) Frostorm?
Eoten - Giant of Albion |
Eoten stands o'er the fallen Python, then eyes Frostorm with a rumbling laugh;
"Har! Yielding is most shrewd Ísmann!"
The massive brute gestures to the woman at his feet and the unconscious Protector;
"We should shackle these wretches, lest they rise anew."
