Petian Runehouse |

Alright, I am sneaking around the back according to plan. Once Tulle yells, I will do my standard attack at the nearest goblin.
Stealth: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15
Initiative: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19
Attack: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (2) - 1 = 1
Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 2

Tulle opens the combat by yelling and advancing toward the goblins.
Goblin Initiative: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15
Axlem, Adokul and Petian act before the goblins. Axlem crashes right into the middle of the goblin group, drawing well their attention, but unfortunately his attacks go astray, the agile goblins scattering and moving too chaotically around him for any of his blows to strike home.
Encouraged by Axlem's assault, Adokul and Petian move out of cover, approaching the goblin group from the sides. Petian's attack against his chosen goblin fails when the goblin jumps around wildly, encouraging its comrades to attack Axlem. Adokul, however, slips close to one of the goblins and skillfully snaps its neck, removing one of the enemies from the fray. Five goblins remain in sight.
At this point, the goblins take their turn. Three of them attack Axlem, while one goes at Tomak and one goes at Tulle.
Goblin vs Axlem: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9
Goblin vs Axlem: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 2 = 21 Hit and possible critical
Goblin vs Axlem: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
Goblin vs Tomak: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9
Goblin vs Tulle: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
Critical vs Axlem?: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9 Nope.
Damage vs Axlem: 1d4 ⇒ 1
Four of the five remaining goblins miss their respective targets, but one of the goblins manages to injure Axlem with its short sword, almost but not quite drawing a critical hit. It turns out that the goblin's attack leaves just a very slight cut on Axlem, a scrape really.
After that, Tomak and Tulle attack, but unfortunately the goblins are slippery devils, and though they don't have any heavy armor on them, they are agile and dexterous enough to avoid the humans' blades. Both of them miss.
Axlem, Adokul and Petian may take new actions before the goblins go again.

Adokul the Monk |
Adokul flurries at one of the goblins.
Flurry attack 1 to hit: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18
Flurry attack 2 to hit: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20
Flurry attack 1 damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
Flurry attack 2 damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6

Adokul the Monk |
Dead goblins will not tell us of the fate of the driver.
Adokul turn to Axlem.
Axlem, I know that these creatures have attacked and injured you, but do you think you could tell them to surrender. We have removed several from the fight already. Speaking to these creatures may give us an idea of the fate of the driver.

Tulle Falk |

Tulle blocks the attack from the goblin who swung at him with his shield. He steps to the side and brings down his hammer.
Warhammer Strike: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10
If it hits: Damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
Hearing the monk ask about keeping one of the Goblins alive, Tulle shouts above the sounds of battle.
Monk, grab one and maybe we can break its legs or interrogate it or something!

Axlem |

to the goblins: surrender and we will spare you!
I want to RAGE, which is a free action, correct? This gives a +2 to both my attack and damage rolls. (And a -2 to my AC)
attack: 1d20 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 5 + 2 = 12
damage: 1d10 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 4 + 2 = 11

![]() |

Correct, activating rage is a free action so it doesn't take any time.
I feel sorry for Adokul for trying to read the grapple rules.
Three goblins remain when it comes to their turn.
Adokul didn't specify if he was attacking anyone in specific's goblins so I'm going to assume he helped out Axlem who was being mobbed by three goblins. That leaves one attacking Axlem, one attacking Tulle and one attacking Tomak.
Goblin vs Axlem: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22
Goblin vs Tomak: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18
Goblin vs Tulle: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 2 = 21
Wow, bad luck here, all hit and two of them are possible criticals.
Critical vs Axlem?: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18 Critical!
Critical vs Tulle?: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
Damage vs Axlem: 2d4 ⇒ (2, 1) = 3
Damage vs Tulle: 1d4 ⇒ 4
With luck, Axlem takes less damage than Tulle despite the critical the goblin struck. Both of the warriors incur small gashes from the goblins' short swords, and the goblins cackle in glee as they score successful hits!
Tulle already went earlier, so his attack in that post goes after the goblins, now. Everyone else may post their actions.

Adokul the Monk |
Ok, here goes. I am going to attempt a Combat Maneuver called Grapple :) I make n attack roll, add my CMB and provoke an attack of oportunity. If the attack hits I take the damage and that damage also is subtracted from the result of my roll. I think that is right
Adokul reaches out and grabs the closest goblin in an attempt to hold it down and subdue it enough for questioning.
Grapple: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (14) + 14 = 28
My plan is to move from grapple to pin to tie-up. This will require 2 more checks in the next 2 rounds. If I succeed in this round I get a +5 circumstance bonus to those.

Adokul the Monk |
You could MAYBE do an aid another, but the grapple is already complicated and aiding is just going to complicate it more :( I'll just roll for the pin and the tie up now and hope that it all works out with Samy's rolls
No Axlem, I have this one held fairly tight. Just be ready with your axe should he escape from my grip
Pin: 1d20 + 14 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 14 + 5 = 33
Tie Up: 1d20 + 14 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 14 + 5 = 28

Petian may post his action retroactively. I'm going to assume he misses, and amend if he hits. Axlem and Tomak both miss this round. Adokul's grapple attempt provokes an attack of opportunity from the goblin...
Goblin AoO vs Adokul: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 = 15 Hit
Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 3
Adokul is hit by the goblin's short sword, but his grapple attempt is good enough to succeed even with that sting to his flesh. Adokul and the goblin are now grappling.
Goblins' turn. Two of them attack Axlem and Tomak, and the one that was previously attacking Tulle (and is now grappled by Adokul) tries to escape the grapple.
Escape Grapple: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (7) + 0 = 7
Goblin vs Axlem: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
Goblin vs Tulle: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
All of them are failures, and none of the goblins achieve anything of purpose this round. Before you all get to act, however, one more combatant emerges from one of the tents. It's considerably bigger than the goblins, at some seven feet tall larger than pretty much all of you.
This dark-furred creature raises a spiked morningstar, its tiny, milk-white eyes glittering with the thrill of the coming kill.
The large creature lets out a ferocious howl and attacks the closest one of you, which happens to be (1d5, in alphabetical order):
1d5 ⇒ 5 Tulle
Morningstar vs Tulle: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10
However, it misses, perhaps not yet fully acclimated to the battle. Maybe it had been in the middle of something.
Everyone may now act. Petian twice, including his retroactive thing from last round.

Tulle Falk |

Yikes!
Tulle explaims as he dodges out of the way of the beast.
Knowledge (Local): 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 1 = 11
Not sure what it is, but its big!
As Tulle shouts to the others, he raises his warhammer high above head in an attempt to "whack-a-mole" the goblin (not the large beast) that just struck at him.
Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8
Damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
These damn beasts are wiry. Keep formation and stay aware.

Adokul the Monk |
Samy, can I be cheeky with the knowledge check? Can I make a history check to see if I can identify it from stories I have heard from the past? I will wait before I open the spoiler. FAIL
history: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7

Petian Runehouse |

Sorry lost track of the round.
Retroactive Attack
Attack: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (2) - 1 = 1
Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 2
After attempting another slice with his Daggar, Petian turns around to see the big creature emerge from the tent.
Knowlegde: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
I'll let you handle that Tulle
Petian then takes another slice at the goblin.
Attack: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (15) - 1 = 14
Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 3

Adokul the Monk |
All good Samy. Like I say, I knew I was being cheeky.
So we have 2 goblins and this big, unknown creature left, plus the one under me. Since I have rolled all 3 and have lost track of the rounds do I have it grappled, pinned or tied at this point? If mine is tied I would like to get up and help out.

![]() |

The goblins' bad luck seems to have been infectious, as Tulle, Petian, Tomak and Axlem all miss their respective attacks.
Goblins' turn. Two of them attack Axlem and Tomak, and the one that was previously attacking Tulle (and is now grappled by Adokul) tries to escape the grapple.
Escape Grapple: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (19) + 0 = 19 Escaped grapple!
Goblin vs Axlem: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10
Goblin vs Tulle: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
The larger creature also attacks again.
Morningstar vs Tulle: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17 Hit!
Damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
The goblin that Adokul was grappling is now free again, and if Adokul wishes to resume trying to tie it down, he will have to start the grappling from square one again. The other two goblins that weren't grappled attack with their short swords but miss Axlem and Tulle. The larger creature, however, hits Tulle with its morningstar, but Tulle is lucky -- the blow could have knocked him unconscious in a worst case scenario, but instead he takes only 4hp damage and should remain standing.
Everyone's turn.

Adokul the Monk |
That is frustrating. Lets start again but this time lets skip the complicated mechanic and I'll just no-lethal punch him into unconsciousness?
Non-lethal unarmed strike to hit: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18
Non-lethal unarmed strike damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8

![]() |

Adokul gives one of the goblins a powerful knockout blow that leaves it flat on its back, unmoving, with little imaginary birds and stars circling its head. Axlem goes for something considerably more lethal, delivering a killing blow to another of the goblins. Petian damages but does not incapacitate one, and Tulle unfortunately misses.
One goblin and the large creature remain. Tomak to go.

![]() |

Nice! As Tomak's swing is a natural 20 (the dice itself, rather than the result, indicates 20), it's a possible critical, causing even more damage than he rolled. It's not necessary to check whether it is, however, since even the damage he did is well enough to slay the goblin. The third goblin hits the ground, dead, and only the large creature remains. Noticing its minions all down, it bellows and swings at Tomak this time.
Morningstar vs Tomak: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12
It's a miss. Everyone's turn. Dogpile on the big guy.

Petian Runehouse |

Not sure if I have disadvantage because of how close the monster is too me, but I am going to attempt this anyway.
Petian looks at the big creature, and then looks to his dagger.
Yeah, this is not going to cut it. After saying this he sheaths his daggar and pulls out his light crossbow and fires a bolt at the creature.
Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14
damage: 1d8 ⇒ 4

Adokul the Monk |
Since we have only 1 monster here right now I wanna try a Stunning Fist. If I succeed he will drop his morningstar and anything lse held,
can’t take actions, loses any Dexterity bonus to AC, and takes a –2 penalty to AC. As far as I understand it the blow will also deal normal damage and to avoid the stun the monster makes a fort save (DC 13)Lets hope this works.
Unarmed Strike: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21
Unarmed Strike Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9

![]() |

Petian's crossbow bolt unfortunately goes astray, missing the creature that is surprisingly nimble for its large size. However, the next three attacks undergo a lucky streak, and the devastating one-two-three blows by Tulle, Adokul and Axlem carve deep gashes into the creature's face, neck and chest, throwing it crashing onto its back. It lays on the ground, unmoving.
There are no moving enemy combatants left. Combat is over. There is one campfire, three tents and seven corpses in the area.

![]() |

I don't believe anybody has successfully rolled to identify the creature. It required points in the Knowledge (local) skill as well as a roll of 12 or over. Regardless, it is dead.
Approaching the tent, Axlem sees a tied up and gagged person inside. It is the driver of the coach. His legs have been taken off under the knees and crudely bandaged. He seems to be conscious, struggling in his bonds and trying to cry out through the gag.
