GM Red |
Glorgrim finishes off the blue-robed skeleton with another powerful stone hammer, knocking it to the ground for good, and Yizzik's flurry of slashes turns the other skeleton into a pile of randomly but precisely cut bones and cloth.
COMBAT OVER
Lilly Hennett |
Lilly smiles as the two skeletons go down.
She picks up the skull of blue, which had hit her before.
In a shakespear'esque way, she holds the skull facing herself, and talks to it pointing her finger.
"Now you learned your lesson, stalking is rude...unless we're talking stalks for beans...no we're not..anyway, you learn your lesson, or the head nurse will get you, and she's a horrible person."
It then dawned on her, that her pet bird wasn't with her yet, and she abruptly drops the skull, which rolls 10 feet away, while it should have remained.
The raven sits perched on a loose stone above.
"Tickles, Tickles, come here."..the raven doesn't immediately move, but as she takes a tiny lump of something from a pocket, and places it on her shoulder, which causes the raven to fly down and gobble it down quickly, while she pets it.
"Good girl..."
Vingold Spiritheart |
"I hate undead. No fun to fight." Vingold casually kicks one of their skulls as he walks past them. He looks up at the blonde woman. "Why hello there!" He exclaims with a big smile.
Lilly Hennett |
Lilly turns her attention to Vingold, and smiles.
She looks past her shoulder briefly. "There, what an odd name?"
It then occurs to her the greeting is addressed to herself.
"Oh, how are you sir?
How did you end up in this place, did spooks tell you to come here too? :3"
Hinata Kyomi |
Hinata goes around 'reloading' her rock pouch while watching the strange girl seem to slip even further into the deep end. After she'd gotten enough to be battle ready again, she'd regroup with the others and give Lilly a cautionary bow from behind the party.
Lilly Hennett |
Lilly's eyes grow big and she's speechless for a moment..but then an enthusiastic cheerful outburst follows.
"WHOAA...CUTE!! A foxgirl!?!?"
I saw the pic in the profile.
Will: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14
She hesitates, and as much as she wants to hug, she manages to refrain herself, and bows slightly too.
"Can we be friends? I promise Tickles here won't bother you."
Yizzik Uhari |
"Is everyone alright?" Yizzik would ask his friends as the undead nightmares hit the ground, touching one of his own wounds for a moment before moving to join Vingold and the woman they had fought with. Amber eyes looked upon her as he gave a smile, bowing some as well like Hinata. "Hello, I'm Yizzik. Are you alright? Did you say...'spooks' called you down here?"
Vingold Spiritheart |
Vingold laughs as the woman goes a bit batty. "Oh no, spooks didn't tell me, but I wish he did. Oh I like her, we're going to have fun!" He looks at some of the other party members and frowns, then takes out his healing wand.
CLW (Yizzik): 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
CLW (Glorgrim): 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
How is everybody on damage?
Hinata Kyomi |
Hinata took a step back clearly startled by the loud outburst. "Kitsune." She corrected quietly to ensure Lilly hadn't mistaken her for another creature, at the request to be friends instead of responding Hinata simply looks to Vingold.
Lilly Hennett |
-11 on my part.
After Hinata would have responded, Lilly looks equally surprised by Yizzik. "And a scaly man? Cool...i've only met dwarves, elves, gnomes, humans, half-people..that's about it...i think.."
(Smiles)
"Yes, spooks....ghost people, like Callum here."
She points to her left..."He kept going on about wanting to visit this place."
Vingold Spiritheart |
Vingold chuckes and leans towards Hinata. "Oh come now, she's probably not even the oddest in our group." He gives their newcomer a tap on the head with the wand.
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9
Lilly Hennett |
Lilly feels her shoulder be less sore, and has the raven's beak between two fingers.
"He's not going to hit you, easy."
"Thank you very much."
..."Oh, please excuse me for not introducing the others, this is Tickles, my pet...sort of, she's not tame, but she listens most of the time.
Callum's, she looks into thin air again, ...with me since Fatush, but he was in room 1408, before the happy day."
Yizzik Uhari |
Yizzik watched with interest, tilting his head in an almost birdlike way as he looked off to the thin air she continued to gesture at. He looked on a bit confused, looking toward Vingold for answers for the odd behavior. He would agree between all of them, he was still the oddest of the group, but this certainly still stacked up pretty well to him.
only missing 3. I'm good
GM Red |
Lovely roleplaying, folks. Glad to see everyone is generally accepting of our new member. When you're ready, let me know what your actions are.
Glorgrim Farlond |
Glorgrim gives a short grunt and shakes his head, "Glorgrim." He looks the bone piles over for a moment, "More dwarves I reckon. Now," he turns to Lilly, "how exactly did you 'appen to find yerself in this place? And just wha' asylum did you wander out of, Briarstone?"
Lilly Hennett |
Lilly blinks, confused.
"Get in here? Through that door of course..."
(Points at an opened passage)
"I haven't heard of Briarstone.....is it dwarven?"
???
(O_O)
For some reason, the word Asylum triggers either a mental block, or is utterly unknown as a word to her.
"Err....no, i came from a house full of jailor doctors and nurses.
They were mean, forced me to take icky drinks and 'candies' for years.
It was called Fatush."
Fatush, better known as Fatush Asylum for the mentally challenged.
An Asylum alongside the Yondabakari river in Varisia, it is/was a public institution under a tight regime, until 2 years ago when an unexplained fire caused a wing of the institution to collapse, providing a number of patients with their freedom, both dead and alive.
Rebuilding efforts are still only halfway done.
Glorgrim Farlond |
Knowledge (local): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (16) + 8 = 24
Don't know if I'd call that local but... not any less so than knowing of an asylum in Ustalav I guess.
He nods, "So you are a loon. But a' least yer on our side it seems." He gives a slight shrug before moving further into the redoubt.
Any of the doors already open? Strange markings or locks, rather, anything of note?
GM Red |
The massive, bronze doors straight ahead appear to be locked. There is something painted in another language on them. It appears to have been written rather quickly and sloppily.
There are two sets of metal double doors to the west and east that do not appear to be locked. The hallway continues to the northwest and northeast.
Map updated - I won't be too obsessive about light this game. As for how Lilly got in... There is a secret entrance to the Redoubt, but I'd rather not reveal it just yet as the party should at least be near it to discover it. Besides that, I think Lilly probably wouldn't even remember how she got in. ;)
Lilly Hennett |
Nope, she must've pointed in a direction, and not recalling the exact location. Spending several years in forced confinement and on meds does stuff to the mind. :)
Lilly takes a look at the doors.
"Huh, the same metal the goblets and bells were made of.
..and here, it says.....um....., risky area keep out."
Yizzik Uhari |
Yizzik followed after the group, listening in but otherwise staying silent. He had never heard of an asylum before, but it sounded terrible by her description and need to escape. He did wonder if 'loon' had another meaning as well, his master having only ever describing it as a bird, which the human girl was certainly not. It wasn't until his new and old companion contradicted each other at the signs that he got really confused. "So...which is it..? Did one of the skeletons hit me on the head..?" he asked, worried that a blow to the head is what had made everything so weird.
Hinata Kyomi |
At the mention of an Asylum Hinata's ears pull back in fear, the party might be odd but dangerous was a different story. She put her trust in Vingold so she wouldn't say anything but she tried to keep at least some distances between her and the new girl.
Glorgrim Farlond |
Glorgrim looks at the writing and starts walking off to the right, I might not know what tha' says, but I recognize the script, druegar. I think we should save tha' door for last. He moves to the eastern door and gives it a shove.
Assuming there isn't a doorknob or the like, if there is, he turns that rather than just pushing on the door. And of course, if the doors open outward instead...
GM Red |
Glorgrim shoves the two metal doors, and they open easily with a bit of a creek. The pentagonal room is decorated with comfortable chairs and sofas around a fireplace. It seems like it wouldn't be a bad place to rest. A small bust of Delbera Axebringer sits in the northernmost corner.
Lilly Hennett |
Lilly looks over Glorgrim's shoulder into the room.
"Oh, what a pretty place, it seems so cozy too."
Appraise?: 1d20 ⇒ 4
Lilly isn't too knowledgeable about the market worth of a bust.
Glorgrim Farlond |
Appraise: 1d20 ⇒ 4
Glrogrim takes a look around the room, "I do agree, quite cozy. Remind me ta' stop by 'ere on the way out, I 'ave a feeling ol' Stinnison would pay a decent bit for it."
He then walks across the hall and tries the other door.

I've moved everyone's tokens into what I thought was a logical order
As Glorgrim begins to push open the two metal doors, two dark-skinned dwarves on the other side of the dining table immediately notice. Atop the stone dining table is a feast of wax fruit and fake roast meats.
The two duergar warriors close their eyes and concentrate, and begin to grow to twice their ordinary size.

Green Duergar
Lilly Hennett |
Lilly walks 2 squares NW, to see what or who is inside.
Seeing two strange dwarves, she looks at her two dwarven companions.
"Grey dwarves..big ones."
She looks back at the duergar, and the corner of her mouth not aimed at her new friends, turns slightly upwards.
"Greetings grey ones. Your time has come, and your heads will decorate these walls."
Intimidate: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (6) + 10 = 16
Unless 4 minutes have passed, my shield buff should still be up, i think.
GM Red |
1d4 ⇒ 4 minutes have passed since you finished off the last group of undead and moved into the Dining Room.
The red-armored duergar shudders as Lilly speaks in his language, and his eyes grow wide in fear.
"Ya do not belong 'ere. Leave now, or Boris 'ere will cut yer head from yer body..", he mumbles in fear, as he looks over at its companion
The red one is shaken for one round. Yizzik is up!
Yizzik Uhari |
Yizzik showed no fear of the large brutes, knowing these were the enemies they had come to fight in the dark caves. Moving to stand at the door, the lizardfolk would raise his shield and axe, preparing for the dark dwarves charge in order to counter strike in his one man phalanx.
Move near the doorway and ready action attack the first duergar that comes within threat range
Attack: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (9) + 10 = 191d8 + 12 ⇒ (6) + 12 = 18
GM Red |
Yizzik prepares for the duergar onslaught.
Vingold and Glorgrim are up
Glorgrim Farlond |
Knowledge (local): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12
"Aye, duergar, lass." Glorgrim looks at the two and snarls, "Rust an' corrosion... making themselves a' home 'ere like they own the place."
He begins to concentrate, the ground trembling beneath him as cracks form in the tiles of the floor. As he stamps his foot a trail of cracks and upturned earth rises leading from his foot to the one of the left.
5-foot step to see green through the door, attacking the green with an entangling infused kinetic blast, using move action to gather power to reduce the burn cost.
Kinetic Blast(entangling): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (19) + 8 = 27
bludgeoning: 3d6 + 9 ⇒ (3, 5, 1) + 9 = 18
Vingold Spiritheart |
Knowledge (local): 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 1 = 13
"Now hold on, let's all just calm down and talk about this." Glorgrim sends out a blast and Vingold frowns. "Well that's what you get for trying to get dwarves and duergar to get along. Still, more civil than the last family gathering." He says to the other duergar with a grin.
Hideous laughter, DC 16 will save or fall prone and take no actions for 5 rounds. He gets a save every round (as a full-round action) to end the effects.
GM Red |
The crack from Glorgrim's foot continues through the ground and ends up below the green-robed duergar, exploding beneath him. The resulting dust and rock fragments cover his feet body, slowing his movement and affecting his combat prowess.
Green is entangled for what will likely be the whole battle unless he breaks out of it
Red's will save: 1d20 + 2 + 2 - 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 + 2 - 2 = 7
"Ah..hahaha! Look at 'at hat... and that beard! Ya call 'at a dwarven beard? AHHAHA!"
Still shaken from Lilly's intimidating words, the red armored duergar doesn't know how else to react, and he falls prone in manic laughter as he points at Vingold and laughs hysterically.
Red's will save: 1d20 + 2 + 2 - 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 + 2 - 2 = 22
The green one shakes his head as the affected duergar dusts himself off and realizes he had been under a spell.
Red is still prone and shaken, but no longer under the spell
Hinata is up!
Hinata Kyomi |
Hinata moves behind the group so she can easily throw past them. "This place is crowded." She remarks as she throws a bomb at the green enemy.
To Hit: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (5) + 10 = 15

Yeah, I got the damage, just forgot to flavor it :)
Covered in shards of stone, the large green duergar can't quite evade Hinata's bomb and it explodes on him, scattering the room in gray flesh and blood.

Lilly Hennett |
Lilly's eyes shine with curiosity...vials that go boom?!
Tickles flaps her wings in surprise.
Lilly steps to the side, peek-a-booing red with a smirk too cheerful, she talks to him some more.
"Your play-pal's dead, guess who's next in line? :3 "
Intimidate: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (12) + 10 = 22
Yizzik Uhari |
Noting his ally's strong control over their adversaries movements, Yizzik would abandon his defensive position to rush in. One duergar down, Yizzik moved in fast, axe raised high as he aimed to strike down the enemy. He didn't put too much force behind his blade though, hoping only to incapacitate for questioning. "It might know something, bring it down, but try not to kill!" he cried as he swung at the one still conscious.
Attack: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (7) + 12 = 191d8 + 8 ⇒ (5) + 8 = 13
Vingold Spiritheart |
Vingold makes sure he is close enough and tries to trip the duergar!
Trip: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10
"Man, maybe I should stick to comedy."
GM Red |
Still lying on the ground, the red-robed duergar shudders at the blonde human as her words demoralize him.
Shaken, 1 round
Yizzik's hit easily lands, slicing up the duergar's side and coating the axe in blood.
Vingold doesn't realize the duergar is already prone and tries to trip him anyway. He watches the whip sail through the air above.
Glorgrim is up
Glorgrim Farlond |
Going to hold action until he tried to stand up, can't get a clear shot with the table in the way.
GM Red |
The red duergar places one giant leg on the ground in front of him, and puts his hand on it as he attempts to shift his weight onto its feet.
Yizzik gets an AoO, and Glorgrim can go after that unless Yizzik finishes him
Yizzik Uhari |
Attack: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (19) + 12 = 311d8 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 11
Swinging again at the rising dark dwarf, Yizzik tried his best to take him down. They'd never be able to question it if it still had fight left in it. His weapon wasn't meant for brining creatures in alive though, so he just hoped he wouldn't chop too deep.
GM Red |
Yizzik cuts the duegar across the shoulder as he rises to his feet. Now standing tall, the duergar takes out his warhammer and swings it at Yizzik. He's still far too frightened by Lilly to be able to properly land a hit, and his hammer smashes into the stone wall next to Yizzik, spraying shards of rock everywhere.
Attack, shaken: 1d20 + 8 - 2 ⇒ (18) + 8 - 2 = 242d6 + 4 ⇒ (4, 6) + 4 = 14
Glorgrim, I understand that was a delay action, so you can act now that the duergar's initiative count is up.
Hinata Kyomi |
Hinata will likely throw a rock no matter what so just going to leave this here
To hit: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (14) + 8 = 22
Damage: 1d4 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 + 1 = 5
Glorgrim Farlond |
Glorgrim shoots a shard of the stone covering his body at the duergar as it stands up.
Kinetic Blast: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17
piercing: 3d6 + 9 ⇒ (1, 2, 1) + 9 = 13
Gotta love the penalty for firing into melee.
