I think he's still here...
Level 4 | HP: 23/43 | AC: 25, T: 16, FF: 21 | Fort: +6, Ref: +7, Will: +5 | CMB: +4, CMD: 16 | Init: +9, Perception: +8 | Stamina Pool: 5/5
I am. My apologies. Whole family was hit by a bad stomach flu on Sunday, and we're only now picking ourselves back up. I'll try and get the character update and post up asap.
Female Human Incanter/Warpriest Gestalt 6 | HP:59/50 | AC: 24/ T: 12 / FF: 22 | Fort: +7, Ref: +5, Will: +10 | CMB: +8, CMD: 19 | Init: +1, Perception: +9 |
Just to check - were my updates for this level OK? If so, I'll update my profile and we can start posting while Hakon gets himself out of the hole. Or bathroom. Whatever.
Yeah, you're fine. I think we're still waiting on Eindrid to pick a feat, though. XD;
Human Cavalier 4 / Bard 4 | HP: 30/48, SP: 1/8, P: 2/4 | AC: 22 / T: 16 / FF: 17 | Fort: +9, Ref: +11, Will: +6 | M. Touch: +6, R. Touch: +6 | CMB: +4/+9, CMD: 20 | Init: +7, Perception: +6, Sing: +15 |
Oh, teamwork feat? (We don't get any special other feats that I can think of). Let's say Shield Wall.
You mentioned needing a Tactician feat, so... XD Does that qualify, and is it what you want?
Human Cavalier 4 / Bard 4 | HP: 30/48, SP: 1/8, P: 2/4 | AC: 22 / T: 16 / FF: 17 | Fort: +9, Ref: +11, Will: +6 | M. Touch: +6, R. Touch: +6 | CMB: +4/+9, CMD: 20 | Init: +7, Perception: +6, Sing: +15 |
Yeah, sounds good. Sorry to hold us up, didn't realize, let's go!
Level 4 | HP: 23/43 | AC: 25, T: 16, FF: 21 | Fort: +6, Ref: +7, Will: +5 | CMB: +4, CMD: 16 | Init: +9, Perception: +8 | Stamina Pool: 5/5

Hmm. I'm seriously not sure what to do here. Any advice? Eindrid's sword has enough significance to him that he'd rather not see it destroyed, but it's unlikely that any other weapons would do damage.
Level 4 | HP: 23/43 | AC: 25, T: 16, FF: 21 | Fort: +6, Ref: +7, Will: +5 | CMB: +4, CMD: 16 | Init: +9, Perception: +8 | Stamina Pool: 5/5
Same with Hakon's hand-ax. A family heirloom. And if magic was useless and our weapons break... perhaps we run deeper into the complex?
Ah, for a bludgeoning weapon!
Female Human Incanter/Warpriest Gestalt 6 | HP:59/50 | AC: 24/ T: 12 / FF: 22 | Fort: +7, Ref: +5, Will: +10 | CMB: +8, CMD: 19 | Init: +1, Perception: +9 |
Well, I guess we have a choice - punch it and hope it doesn't freeze our hands off, or run away.
I'm all for punching. I mean...Vikings.
Human Cavalier 4 / Bard 4 | HP: 30/48, SP: 1/8, P: 2/4 | AC: 22 / T: 16 / FF: 17 | Fort: +9, Ref: +11, Will: +6 | M. Touch: +6, R. Touch: +6 | CMB: +4/+9, CMD: 20 | Init: +7, Perception: +6, Sing: +15 |
I guess I'll sit back and bless you while we're at it.

But assumedly attunable to +1
Level 4 | HP: 23/43 | AC: 25, T: 16, FF: 21 | Fort: +6, Ref: +7, Will: +5 | CMB: +4, CMD: 16 | Init: +9, Perception: +8 | Stamina Pool: 5/5

You can attune the sword to +1 by low-magic items rules
Level 4 | HP: 23/43 | AC: 25, T: 16, FF: 21 | Fort: +6, Ref: +7, Will: +5 | CMB: +4, CMD: 16 | Init: +9, Perception: +8 | Stamina Pool: 5/5
Oh, no, my apologies. My question mark was a brief query as to the state of the game.
Level 4 | HP: 23/43 | AC: 25, T: 16, FF: 21 | Fort: +6, Ref: +7, Will: +5 | CMB: +4, CMD: 16 | Init: +9, Perception: +8 | Stamina Pool: 5/5
Is this game dying a very, very slow death? Should we just call it a day and move on?
Human Cavalier 4 / Bard 4 | HP: 30/48, SP: 1/8, P: 2/4 | AC: 22 / T: 16 / FF: 17 | Fort: +9, Ref: +11, Will: +6 | M. Touch: +6, R. Touch: +6 | CMB: +4/+9, CMD: 20 | Init: +7, Perception: +6, Sing: +15 |
Did this campaign officially switch to present tense?

My main attack rolls in this fight: 3,2,5,3.
Kinda faintly ridiculous.
Human Cavalier 4 / Bard 4 | HP: 30/48, SP: 1/8, P: 2/4 | AC: 22 / T: 16 / FF: 17 | Fort: +9, Ref: +11, Will: +6 | M. Touch: +6, R. Touch: +6 | CMB: +4/+9, CMD: 20 | Init: +7, Perception: +6, Sing: +15 |
Ugh, my bad, I derailed this by too much OOC discussion.
@GM, should we skip to huddling down for the night, or would you prefer we get there in-character?

Ah, 'twas a comment! And it wasn't showing the comments here having updated. o_O *Blames the system*
I believe you're up, Eindrid. o wo/ Nudge me here when you post, just in case I forget I'm only waiting on you.

Does someone drop to the ground in paralysis?
No. The rules for Paralysis say "The creature is rooted to the spot, frozen and helpless." There is nothing that automatically makes them fall, just freeze in place... although they could be tipped over pretty easily. XD
Human Cavalier 4 / Bard 4 | HP: 30/48, SP: 1/8, P: 2/4 | AC: 22 / T: 16 / FF: 17 | Fort: +9, Ref: +11, Will: +6 | M. Touch: +6, R. Touch: +6 | CMB: +4/+9, CMD: 20 | Init: +7, Perception: +6, Sing: +15 |
Hmm, so there's nobody for me to easily push past...
Yeah, that can happen when allies teleport forward. o wo/
...Incidentally, be careful with that sort of thing. This is a Frog God Games adventure, and they don't really do easy mode. XD Except for that one intro module, anyway, but that doesn't count.
Female Human Incanter/Warpriest Gestalt 6 | HP:59/50 | AC: 24/ T: 12 / FF: 22 | Fort: +7, Ref: +5, Will: +10 | CMB: +8, CMD: 19 | Init: +1, Perception: +9 |
Yeah, normally I wouldn't but I figured it was important to stop the spell, and that the one in the door would go down relatively fast. I wasn't expecting
...of course, if I'd known it was a freakin' Ghoul spellcaster I'd have run for the nearest hill...or at least used the Hand of the Apprentice to hurl spears at it.
I don't go out of my way to tell you what you're facing, but you're always welcome to make knowledge checks and try to identify them. ^^
Human Cavalier 4 / Bard 4 | HP: 30/48, SP: 1/8, P: 2/4 | AC: 22 / T: 16 / FF: 17 | Fort: +9, Ref: +11, Will: +6 | M. Touch: +6, R. Touch: +6 | CMB: +4/+9, CMD: 20 | Init: +7, Perception: +6, Sing: +15 |
That's some nasty paralysis!
Frog God Games is amused by the idea of "easy mode". o wo~ Even at Level 3.
Fortunately, there are three of you as well, so I get to have him attack multiple targets instead of focus on just one. XD It miiiight be a little dumb of him... but hey. Undead. They're not so good at the whole brain thing.
Human Cavalier 4 / Bard 4 | HP: 30/48, SP: 1/8, P: 2/4 | AC: 22 / T: 16 / FF: 17 | Fort: +9, Ref: +11, Will: +6 | M. Touch: +6, R. Touch: +6 | CMB: +4/+9, CMD: 20 | Init: +7, Perception: +6, Sing: +15 |
Yeah... Paralyzed is a nasty status because of things like Coup de Graces, but also you usually need to hit like CR 7 to hit a ghoul with that high a DC.
Still. Things will get interesting at higher levels. I personally get some cool stuff at 4, but level 6 is when we'll be fighting on very different terms.
EDIT: Honestly, though, my experience with Frog God is entirely through Rednal Gestalt games at low levels. (And with three characters of very different base game power levels; Eindrid is probably in the middle, or at least will be once bard starts paying dividends). It'll be interesting to see where some of these go.
I believe one of the taglines is "Third edition rules, First edition feel". As in "Have a backup character sheet, because death is a very real possibility if you don't know when to pull back". XD
...This is most apparent in Rappan Athuk. It's known as the Dungeon of Graves for a reason. The Northlands Saga isn't meant to be a character-murdering nightmare of a dungeon, though. XD While challenging, I fully expect the three of you will be able to handle it as we continue forward.
Human Cavalier 4 / Bard 4 | HP: 30/48, SP: 1/8, P: 2/4 | AC: 22 / T: 16 / FF: 17 | Fort: +9, Ref: +11, Will: +6 | M. Touch: +6, R. Touch: +6 | CMB: +4/+9, CMD: 20 | Init: +7, Perception: +6, Sing: +15 |
I'm mostly looking forward to the effects Norse culture has on traditional alignments and economy. Also being able to kill things via kenning. But for now: stabbings!
>Implying the Northlands has an economy
Snkahahahahahaha.

Human Cavalier 4 / Bard 4 | HP: 30/48, SP: 1/8, P: 2/4 | AC: 22 / T: 16 / FF: 17 | Fort: +9, Ref: +11, Will: +6 | M. Touch: +6, R. Touch: +6 | CMB: +4/+9, CMD: 20 | Init: +7, Perception: +6, Sing: +15 |
Well, magic items are easier to come by than masterwork ones... that's an economic effect, if a curious one.
Also, the fact that my profession is either "folk musician," "historian," "poetry reciter," "police officer," "lawyer," "notary," or "senator," because in the simpler Old Norse legal system these are all effectively the exact same job.
Although Hakon is better at using shields, which is probably the biggest criterion for entering actual politics.
EDIT: And it is weird to have to remind myself this is Frog Gods' Norse Mythology, and not Earth Norse Mythology, where as a warpriest of Odin, Eydis's main tasks would probably involve sailing around to kidnap prisoner/slaves, ritualistically strangling these helpless folks to death in sacrifice to Odin, casting rune-stones to determine which swamps it was most appropriate to throw the bodies into, then having as many babies as possible in order to strangle them in sacrifice to Odin also.
(historical Norse mythology TL;DR: they're all CN, except when they're CE)
Well, the strangling thing hasn't completely gone away. If you guys had taken a different route to the Tor, you might have come across a berserker who tied himself to a tree in an imitation of Odin, hoping to gain wisdom... XD
Odin's NG in the Northlands, but on a nine-point-scale, he's probably in the lower right corner of the alignment. He's a patron of good rulership, but his virtues tend to be gained by madness and sacrifice. So, naturally, Yidhra likes him...
Human Cavalier 4 / Bard 4 | HP: 30/48, SP: 1/8, P: 2/4 | AC: 22 / T: 16 / FF: 17 | Fort: +9, Ref: +11, Will: +6 | M. Touch: +6, R. Touch: +6 | CMB: +4/+9, CMD: 20 | Init: +7, Perception: +6, Sing: +15 |
Yeah, but it seems like there's less of a "kill your babies" attitude in this setting, which is probably very good.
Female Human Incanter/Warpriest Gestalt 6 | HP:59/50 | AC: 24/ T: 12 / FF: 22 | Fort: +7, Ref: +5, Will: +10 | CMB: +8, CMD: 19 | Init: +1, Perception: +9 |
Yidhra has a boyfriend? Existence as we know it may be screwed...
I don't like him THAT much. o wo
Female Human Incanter/Warpriest Gestalt 6 | HP:59/50 | AC: 24/ T: 12 / FF: 22 | Fort: +7, Ref: +5, Will: +10 | CMB: +8, CMD: 19 | Init: +1, Perception: +9 |
I feel I should point out the great restraint I'm showing by not replying "Negative, he's a meat popsicle," to Hakon. I also expect you all to get that reference.
Level 4 | HP: 23/43 | AC: 25, T: 16, FF: 21 | Fort: +6, Ref: +7, Will: +5 | CMB: +4, CMD: 16 | Init: +9, Perception: +8 | Stamina Pool: 5/5
He should have flashed his multi-pass before trying to cross that threshold, obvs.
And well done on the restraint!
Human Cavalier 4 / Bard 4 | HP: 30/48, SP: 1/8, P: 2/4 | AC: 22 / T: 16 / FF: 17 | Fort: +9, Ref: +11, Will: +6 | M. Touch: +6, R. Touch: +6 | CMB: +4/+9, CMD: 20 | Init: +7, Perception: +6, Sing: +15 |
Human Cavalier 4 / Bard 4 | HP: 30/48, SP: 1/8, P: 2/4 | AC: 22 / T: 16 / FF: 17 | Fort: +9, Ref: +11, Will: +6 | M. Touch: +6, R. Touch: +6 | CMB: +4/+9, CMD: 20 | Init: +7, Perception: +6, Sing: +15 |
Wait, oh! I assumed all the crew got scattered across the island. Should check it again. Does that mean we're only looking for a way off the island?
Pretty much, yeah. XD Plus, y'know, maybe treasure or something. And the people who DID get off the boat before you...
Human Cavalier 4 / Bard 4 | HP: 30/48, SP: 1/8, P: 2/4 | AC: 22 / T: 16 / FF: 17 | Fort: +9, Ref: +11, Will: +6 | M. Touch: +6, R. Touch: +6 | CMB: +4/+9, CMD: 20 | Init: +7, Perception: +6, Sing: +15 |
Okay. So we're looking for those folks. I guess we should assume that the longboat's not waiting around somewhere? Because, like, as soon as we run out of food, we're dead, and there's not exactly farms here.
