Jibril Carver |

Jibril shrugs. "Best to search the chamber."
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11
End of my run. I'll take 10 and re-search the chamber for 16.

Braydir Thornak |

Happy belated Khere! Looks like you finally stopped hacking the Perception checks Jibril. Way to downplay it and roll low to keep suspicion off ;)
Braydir surveys the area behind the slayer, eyes vigilant in the darkness for whatever will jump out at them next. Take 20 + 8 for 28

Malik Adraza |

"We have three doors left I believe? We know we will go through each of them in turn, so let us just go through the door in this room while we are already here yes?" Malik looks at the others for confirmation.

Jibril Carver |

Jibril scratches his head. "I don't think we've really taken a look at the area in the centre. If we can't get the remaining (northern) door open easily then we will have to go round it, down the stairs over there (to the west then north)."
"One other thing: I think that, as I was looking for you, there was an unopened door. While we are covering off unexplored areas, we might go back and check that? Anyway, first this platform ..."
Jibril takes a look at the central area: Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11
Now I'm just throwing 5's. I'll take 20 for 26.

Khere |

"If this is part of a trap, I think it is best we leave it be. It could summoned a horde of guardians. If it does then, it would be best if I stand just outside the door to buy you time to escape while I'll distract them," the aasimar paladin said as he stood guard at the door keeping an eye out for any threat that may dare rush the Silver Seekers!
Perception: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 1 = 20
Khere is standing outside the doorway and isn't in the room. Yeah he's a martyr.

Jibril Carver |

"No traps here. And we've disabled the room's trap. If there's something undead in here, we should deal with it."
Jibril opens the sarcophagus.

GM Redelia |

Braydir init: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 1 = 13
Khere init: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
Talon init: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
Jibril initiative: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23
Malik initiative: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
fake sarcophagus initiative: 1d20 ⇒ 19
You may read spoiler, just using to keep display clean
I have assumed that hearing Jibril's ideas, Khere went to help him. I didn't want to have Jibril too far from everyone when combat started.
As Jibril tries to open the sarcophagus, he realizes that it will not open, for it is not really a sarcophagus. And then he realizes that it is a construct, and is starting to animate.
Jibril, you're up first. Then the sarcophagus, then the rest of the party. If anyone wants to use an appropriate knowledge roll, you may roll it at any time, even if it's not your turn.

Braydir Thornak |

The dwarf cracks his knuckles. "Aye. Undead ye say? Let it be, oh let it be." The last half of his statement is an octave lower than the first, clearly intrigued by the concept of smashing some skeletal remains.
When the sarcophagus animates he takes a step backwards. "What foul wizardry this be? This is no undead, Gabriel, look out!" He steps forward and slams his giant hammer to the ground with unimpressive determination.
Attack Warhammer: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13
Damage Warhammer: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4

Talon Silverhawk |

Terribly sorry about my extended absence everyone. I cant believe its actually been a month. I was dealing with finals and all of my PBP's suffered. But I should be back from now on.
Talon shakes his head, coming out of a trance, notices the thing moving and attacks!
Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3

Khere |

Upon hearing his companions' surprise at the construct coming to life, Khere quickly runs next to Jibril and swings his flail at the animated sarcophagus.
Flail Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10
Flail Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
Its cool Talon. Things happen. I hope your finals went well. And welcome back!

Jibril Carver |

Sorry - am travelling on a business trip for this week (back tomorrow) so my own posting is a little sporadic, temporarily.
Jibril steps back into position, sizes up the construct carefully and then slices at it with both scimitars ...
This is where the die rolls will be telling ... (+1 studied target)
Attack: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
Attack: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9
... missing both times (pah)

GM Redelia |

Even with the benefit of flanking, Jibril is unable to hit the sarcophagus. The sarcophagus stands up. Khere and Talon are unable to hit the sarcophagus. Braydir hits it, but doesn't seem to do any damage.
Malik is up for round 1, and Jibril may post for round 2.

Malik Adraza |

"Hopefully a bit of magic will affect this thing!" Malik draws his wand and launches a magic missile at the sarcophagus.
Damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

Jibril Carver |

Jibril frowns. I had one job ... He makes a more concerted effort in his next attack, the scimitars curving in from left and right.
Attack/damage rolls continue to get +1 for Studied Target
Attack: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
Attack: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 1 = 20
Damage: 1d6 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 3 + 1 = 6
Crit Check: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 1 = 15
If crit is also a hit
Crit Damage: 1d6 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 3 + 1 = 10

GM Redelia |

Jibril's second scimitar attack swings down hard onto the sarcophagus. It takes damage, but less than expected.
The sarcophagus tries to bite Jibril.
attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20
damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
grab: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (15) + 9 = 24
Jibril is bitten and takes 8 damage. He is also held in the sarcophagus's mouth, and so grappled.
round 2:
Jibril
sarcophagus
Braydir
Malik
Talon
Khere
Round 3:
Jibril(grappled)
sarcophagus (-15 hp)
Braydir
Malik
Talon
Khere
bold may post

Malik Adraza |

Malik yelps in surprise as the sarcophagus attemps to eat their new companion. He launches another magic missile at it as it seems to be the only thing that works properly against it.
Damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

Jibril Carver |

"Mmmph." Jibril winces in pain. "Someone get me free from this thing!"
I'm waiting to see whether there's any intervention that will free me before trying to break the grapple.

Braydir Thornak |

"Hold on Gabriel, I'm coming in an extremely pathethic and halfhearted fashion!
Braydir attempts to whack the creature into letting the slayer go, but in trying to avoid hitting Jibril in the process he misses entirely. He grumbles a curse under his breath.
Attack?: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5

Khere |

Khere prays to Anubis as he attacks again yelling in Celestial swinging his flail at the animated construct.
Flail Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19
Flail Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10
Yes!!!! It's flailing time! Okay there's your MC Hammer reference there. ;P

GM Redelia |

Talon attacks the sarcophagus.
attack: 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 4 + 2 = 24
damage: 1d8 + 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (3) + (4) + 2 = 9
Talon's sword hits the sarcophagus, damaging it slightly.
Round 3:
Jibril(grappled)
sarcophagus (-27 hp)
Braydir
Malik
Talon
Khere
OK, Jibril, what do you do about the thing trying to eat you?

GM Redelia |

Yes, you can sneak attack a construct. I also added the sneak attack to the normal damage and applied hardness to the sum, rather than hardness to each piece. The sneak attack is the source of the +1d6 in the damage. If I missed any of your abilities, please let me know.

Jibril Carver |

Jibril attempts to break the grapple, standard action
Jibril strains to escape the sarcophagus' maw.
Break Grapple Attempt: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21
If successful, he takes a 5' step back from the sarcophagus.

GM Redelia |

Jibril yanks himself out of the sarcophagus's mouth. It then turns to Khere and bites at him.
bite: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19
bite damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
grab: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (12) + 9 = 21
Khere takes 7 damage and is now in the sarcophagus's mouth.
Jibril, have you filled your new companions in on your unique healing needs?
Round 3:
Braydir
Malik
Talon
Khere(grappled)
Round 4:
Jibril
sarcophagus (-27 hp)
Bold may post.

Khere |

Can I attack it even though it's grappling me? I'm not trying to break free just seeing if I can attack while being grappled.

Jibril Carver |

@Khere: you may attack as long as it's one handed and it will be at -2 (btw holding a shield doesn't matter as regards this as grapple checks will be against your CMD not your AC). See this flowchart (yes it requires a flowchart). If using a spell you'll need a concentration check.

GM Redelia |

Jibril Carver |

Jibril winces and shrugs, tasting the sweetness of the blood welling in his mouth and hating himself for the pleasantness of it.
He twirls both scimitars and launches back in on the construct.
Attack 1: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 1 = 13
Attack 2: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 1 = 14
If one or both hits ... (though I have a sinking feeling they don't)
Damage 1: 1d6 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 3 + 1 = 6
Damage 2: 1d6 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 3 + 1 = 10

Khere |

Just got off work y'all. I'll post as soon as I get back to my house.

Jibril Carver |

Jibril re-shoulders his scimitars and looks about him; he's still sore from the wounds inflicted by the sarcophagus. "Gentlemen, my apologies."
He bows, briefly, painfully. "I was a little too eager in my explorations."
He peers at the remains of the construct. It was somehow linked to the trap system.
He looks a little more closely, trying to figure out if the solution can be found in the remains of the broken creation.
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25 Back on my roll ...

GM Redelia |

Jibril, if the trap had been triggered, the doors to the north would have opened, the other doors would have sealed shut, electricity would have arced over the platform, and the sarcophagus would have animated.
By the way, you guys missed the worst fun of the sarcophagus. If anyone had stayed grappled, it can swallow whole.
Khere, don't forget about the damage from the sarcophagus. It's not reflected in your quick stats.

Jibril Carver |

I assume the northern door is still sealed shut then?
Jibril sits down. "That battle was, uh, painful."
"For what it's worth, the trap we disabled was linked to this construct, and in turn to the doors. When we're ready, I suggest we double back to the area we missed, before moving on through that door there."
He points to the door on the western side of the room.
"Oh, and before anyone tries to heal me, I ought to mention my condition. I'm somewhat allergic to the healing energy of the gods. It triggers an adverse reaction in me."

Khere |

Okay. And thank you gm for pointing that out!
Straightening his neck some, the aasimar was both annoyed and glad. "At least I was able to get its attention away from you Jibril," the tall silver furred paladin said with a smile.

Malik Adraza |

Malik pats Jibril on the shoulder "Could have happened to any of us, the creature wasn't too difficult for us to handle, so no apologies needed." He looks about the chamber again. "Two doors left? Let's go through the one near here and then grab the other on our way out of the tomb."

Khere |

Khere was a bit puzzled by the tengu's attack.
"Um I think it's dead Talon. Although I guess that's one way to get rid of one's frustrations."
The paladin raised his hand, waving away Jibril's apology, "Not your fault. Could have happened to anyone of us. These things are common in many tombs and ruins to prevent tomb robbers from desecrating the remains of those resting in peace."
Do I need to use the UMD skill in order to use the cure light wounds wand? I know Paladins get that spell but it won't be for awhile until they can use spells. This part of the rules covering that skill have always confused me.
