Erashava reads the inscriptions, but it doesn't ring any bells.
I can't make any of those checks.

Rosie reads the names. Then she pokes the names. Then she punches the names. Then she kicks the names. Then she shouts "WIFFLE!"
I can't make those checks.

Fuzzzy smiles. "Ah, yes! Quite right, Bobby! Aspirants! To the Shrine of the Failed!"
He suddenly turns and starts to leave. He does not explain why.

“Shrine of the Failed, hey? Think we’ll find something in the stone rooms? hey, wait up old man.”

GM Nowruz |

Again, Fuzzy and Ruslo are leading you forward and have the insight that the Starstone might be involved. You decide to visit the Shrine of the Failed.
Erected centuries ago by an unknown organization, the Shrine of the Failed is a dour complex that pays homage to those who failed in their attempts to overcome the Test of the Starstone.
* * * * * * *
E1. Antechamber
This monumental chamber stretches eighty feet from end to end, with a ceiling suspended thirty feet from the floor by great pillars.
Seven arched passages lead to humble rooms, each of which contains a polished stone altar dedicated to one of the failed aspirants who attempted the Test of the Starstone.
The columns here provide cover to creatures hiding behind them.
E2a–E2g. Altars of Failed Supplicants
Each of these chambers contains a small stone altar to one of the failed aspirants. Each altar stands upon a raised dais and bears a small brass nameplate identifying the aspirant and the would-be-god’s areas of interest.
* * * * * * *
As you enter the Antechamber you notice that it is quite empty. Three acolytes that are walking by are talking with great urgency.
"Oh dear, I had already heard about Sir Reinhart when I was in the Wounded Wisp, but as I entered the Shrine earlier today I saw Sir Reinhart, a Mendevian crusader, preparing himself. I tell you ... he is intent on becoming a god, and wants to attempt the Test of the Starstone."
The other acolyte looks flabbergasted "Oh dear, I can already imagine the story being told tomorrow 'As the valiant — and utterly doomed—knight prepared to charge his steed across the chasm outside Starstone Cathedral, the inevitable happened ...'"
You do not know what will happen but this occurrence has obviously led to you having almost unrestricted access to the Shrine of the Failed. The city guard and what few caretakers the shrine has have left to watch Sir Reinhart’s potentially ill-fated attempt.

Erashava and Filuvius saunter (and slosh) into the Shrine of the Failed. She wanders from alter to altar, reading the names, hoping that one of them will jump out at her.
Perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20
She starts at A, and will go around the room one at a time cuonter-clockise from there.

GM Nowruz |

I assume you will look where the known names are as it otherwise will take too long to take 20.
Adowyn starts searching and it takes some time but after a while he finds the plate with the name Doulgonlir Caskmail and through great observation also discovers a secret door hidden by an illusion against the room’s west wall, though you can’t see any means to unseal the door.

Erashava inspects the nameplates for the Doglgonlir, Hollis, and Karina, curious if there's a hidden switch or extra clue somewhere near there.
Perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4

Filuvius |

Filuvius caresses the name plates, thrilled that it's found another secret!

![]() |

Fuzzzy wanders around until the others find the right names.
"Bobby, what's that spell again? You know the one..."

![]() |

"Ah, yes! DETECT MAGIC!" He snaps his fingers and then aims his hand around the shrine and the nearby walls, looking for anything magical.

![]() |

Rosie looks at the nameplates. "They're over here!"
Perception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18
If she doesn't find anything weird:
She pokes the names. Then she punches the names. Then she kicks the names. Then she shouts: "WIFFLE!"
If that still doesn't work:
Rosie walks up to the secret door. She pokes it. Then she pushes it. Then she punches it. Then she kicks it. Then she shouts, "WIFFLE!"

![]() |

"Sounds like Sir Reinhart is going to have an interesting day."
"Well, well, what do we have here? That's right Rosie. Wiffle."

GM Nowruz |

"Ah, yes! DETECT MAGIC!" He snaps his fingers and then aims his hand around the shrine and the nearby walls, looking for anything magical.
Fuzzy notices that there are many magical auras in these halls. When he focuses he also notices the magical aura of the illusion that is covering the secret door.

Adowyn takes the chalk and quickly writes wiffle on it.
"It was wiffle wasn´t it?"
Rosie's going to be so sad you beat her to writing wiffle. Haha.

Rosie sees the chalkboard. She reaches for the chalk, but Adowyn gets there first! She gives Adowyn a big sad look...
"Can I write it?" she squeaks, with big, sad, puppy dog eyes. "Pleeeeeeeese?"
Then Rosie snatches away the chalk and quickly writes 'WIFFLE' on the chalk board.
Thank you for waiting! Today was my second last day of kindergarten! I do not want miss the secret password, but I was at school!

Fuzzzy points at all of the magical things in the room. "Oh, look at that!"
"And that!"
"And that!"
"Why am I looking, Bobby?"

![]() |

"Ah, yes!" He points at the illusion covered secret door. "Look at THAT!"

![]() |

"Yes, but what is a wiffle?"

![]() |

Erashava raises an eyebrow. "Is it not a local colloquialism?"

GM Nowruz |

E3. Cavern
The cavern beyond the secret door is made of stone. Although the cavern has the aesthetic of a natural cave.
You recognize the walls are not natural; rather, someone cleared this area using the stone shape spells.
This cavern is dark but there is some illumination coming from further ahead.

Filuvius |

As the secret door opens, Filuvius' mouth hole forms into a big, unnaturally wide smile. It's tentacles all quiver excitedly.

Erashava gives the water monster an amused smile. She holds out her right palm and hisses a few words in a strange language, causing the sigil on her palm to glow with red light. A moment later her belt begins to shine with a glorious light, and the red glowing sigil on her palm winks out.
Casting light on my belt.
Erashava and Filuvius lead the way into the tunnel.

E4. Repository
Several desks are arranged along the northern and eastern edges of this small stone alcove. Whereas the stonework leading to this chamber is rough, the walls in the alcove are polished. A single gem rests among the neatly filed papers on the desk, emitting a soft magical luminescence that brightens the small room.

![]() |

Rosie grabs Filuvius' hand and gives it a big shake. Then she runs off into the secret room. She looks around at the desks and glowing stone. She picks up the glowing stone in her hands and stares at it greedily! "This is so neat!"
She takes the stone and runs off to show it to Filuvius. "Look at this!"

![]() |

Fuzzzy laughs happily and claps his hands in surprise. "Oh, look! A tunnel! Tunnels are meant to be walked down!"
He heads right into the tunnel.

"What a lovely cavern! It was made by magic, you know." He nods his head and his hat flops around.

![]() |

"Ah, yes! Of course. DANCING LIGHTS!!" A quartet of glowing little orbs of light spring into being in front of Fuzzzy.
"Go on, now. Get a move on."
He nods his head at the dark cave and off his lights fly, dancing around and lighting the way.
"Wait for me!" Fuzzzy calls. He follows his lights off into the tunnels.
Fuzzzy looks at all the papers in the office.

Erashava steps past Rosie and enters the study. She begins looking through the papers.

Ruslo activates his wayfinder to provide additional illumination.

“One day you should really learn the Common tongue.” Ruslo replies to the elf with a wink and a smile.
