I played some of Carrion Crown IRL, but never online. Would you consider the Moonlight Meditant, from the Dreamscarred Press Lords of the Wild playtest? The idea would be that the connection to Lorrimor, If still relevant, would be that he helped to get the Lycanthropy under control with incredibly experimental techniques.

Joseph Soltz |

I've been using them since 3.5e off and on, and honestly Soulknife is really a Psi-Lite class. They get power points, but nothing to really use them on. I can explain more in depth, but if you're uncomfortable with the addition of a vaguely psionic martial class, I can come up with something else, I'm sure.

Smaranda Zografu |

I was in a Carrion Crown game years ago and never got farther than the first in-game day, it's an AP that I would really like to play. This character was made for it, although I am quite flexible and can jump into a different role if needed. I just prefer to play something else than Witch/Oracle/Shaman, which I already play in my other games.

Joseph Soltz |

Wow, I'm surprised. I don't see many Lycanthropic character concepts in most groups, especially the table I play with. I thought I'd be at least a little special :(
Henric will be finished up in the morning, but he's essentially going to be (as far as party role is concerned) a moderately tanky, in-your-face, mobile bruiser who, as long as he isn't outright killed, can go all day long without issue. I haven't had a character take toughness since... Well, since last time I played Henric!

havoc xiii |

Sounds good havoc xiii; was the series good? Haven't caught that one yet
I liked it, of course there are only 4 episodes at the moment so it's mostly just background. My wife's character is mostly finished just needs more fluff and I'm still trying to figure out the best way I can make a whip into a deadly threat.

[b]Transcendent Werewolf (Ex) A Moonlight Meditant cannot become a werewolf or lycanthrope, and loses such templates if he possesses them when he takes his first moonlight meditant level. In addition, at 1st level, he gains the shapechanger subtype and a shifting feat he qualifies for as a bonus feat, which he can swap whenever he rests for at least 8 hours.
Moonsilver Blade (Su) The moonlight meditant gains the ability to wrap himself in a silvery projection of energy, taking a form similar to a werewolf. Shifting feats appear similarly when used, rather than truly transforming him. At first level, the moonlight meditant's mind blade takes the form of a primary bite or 2 primary claw attacks, chosen when he forms his mind blade. They deal damage as appropriate for the moonlight meditant's size, and may shift their location freely, though they still count as being on hands and head for the purposes of using other weapons. He may hold or otherwise use objects (like shield) in his hands while attacking, but may not use a hand to attack with both a weapon and a claw. Mind blades are treated as silver for the purposes of vulnerabilites and oercoming damage reduction, and do not benefit from amulets of mighty fists or similar effects. At sixth level, a moonlight meditant gains both the bite and claw attacks.
Savage Pursuit (Ex) During his turn, a moonlight meditant can move up to 5 feet as a free action without provoking attacks of opportunity before each attack he makes with his mind blade; after this movement he may make his attack against any target within reach from his new position. The moonlight meditant cannot make an attack in this fashion against opponents he cannot reach from his new position. At 4th level, he can move up to 10 feet, at 8th level he can move up to 15, and at 16 he may move up to 20ft. A moonlight meditant may use this ability in the same turn he takes a 5-foot step, and vice-versa.
Enhanced Mind Blade (Su) Starting at 3rd level, all of a moonlight meditant's natural attacks gain an enhancement bonus on attack and damage equal to his mind blade's maximum enhancement bonus. In addition, he treats his natural weapons as both magic and silver for vulnerabilities and overcoming damage reduction. In addition, the moonlight meditant's bite and claw mindblades gain their normal progression of abilities, and do not need a +1 minimum enhancement bonus before gaining weapon special abilities. When a moonlight meditant chooses how he enhances his mind blade, his bite and each of his claws can be given their own combination of weapon special abilities.
Allocated Enhancements: Frost (+1) on both claws
Moonsilver BodyAt 3rd level, a moonlight meditant gains damage reduction 1/silver. At 7th level and again at every four moonlight meditant levels thereafter, this damage reduction increases by 1. This ability replaces psychic strike.
Telekinetic Athleticism (Blade Skill)(Su) The soulknife gains the benefits of the Mental Leap and Speed of Thought psionic feats while she maintains her psionic focus, and may expend her psychic strike's charge to fuel the secondary abilities of these feats instead of using her psionic focus.
Longstride Shift (Ex) 1/2 level+ConMod/day, +5ft per shifting feat to movement speed.
I think that's Henrik's crunch done and dusted, though I may have missed something; by all means, check on it and make sure I didn't miss anything. I'll spend a little bit more of the gold, most likely, but I think that should give a pretty good idea of what's going on there. :)
I've got to head out for a while, but I should be able to get a backstory up relatively soon, I hope.

Hi!
Sunny California here & Father of three. As a profession, I stare at brains; write stories about them. Right now I am stripping a skull.
Just MRI scans.
I started playing a little more than a year ago on a GM Nayr invite; it was my first RP game since i dabbled in my early twenties. I've had a lot of fun, and its one of those things... Get to work, set my coffee down, roll some dice. Check back in at my afternoon cup. :} I like to see others write, an get a chance to practice mine.
We are pretty relaxed here and on for the haul. GM Nayr occasionally steps back, but returns. This is just what we do now and this AP is looking for a solid.

Hi there!
36, video game developer, living in the Netherlands, no kids. I've been playing tabletop RPGs since D&D 2nd edition, play-by-post for only about 6 years. I have a fair bit of spare time now that crunch for the last project is over, so I play games, read and annoy my ant queens who are just trying to get on with their life and lay some eggs. I really enjoy the play-by-post format for the character building and storytelling opportunities, but live playing is also fun (I run a Rise of the Runelords campaign with my minions from work).

Aye! We're from the southern wetlands where the sea is queen and she rules us with tide and beasts from the deep! A land where there is no winter, serpents are ever present and possessed by an unholy horde of flowers.... yep folks we're from Florida! Just a couple of starving artists who love to paint, draw, write, fish and enjoying life.

MrApollinax |

Sounds idyllic, havoc! Welcome everyone, looking forward to taking on the Whispering Way at your virtual sides...Working Dad (father of one 3yo boy), 45 years old from Dunedin NZ, chilly Scots-founded outpost in the South Pacific. My roleplaying chops, such as they are, stem from 25 on-again-off-again years of running Rolemaster. Pretty new to PF and enjoying it immensely.

Joseph Soltz |

Hello! I'm 24, and actually a dishwasher/Prep cook for a delicatessen, recently got my hours more in line, and I'm looking to get back into RPGs. My schedule is still a bit weird for an IRL game, but PbP fits the bill perfectly!
I've been playing since I was 17, started with d20 Modern, technically, which quickly transferred to 3.5e,then Pathfinder. I was a huge fan of psionics and initiating, and Dreamscarred Press has done a fantastic job of porting both subsystems, in addition to Magic of Incarnum, into the Pathfinder ruleset.

Dura Fletcher |

wow, nice spread of folks. Living in Minnesota, winter means I have lots of time to be online. I'm an archaeologist, professor of anthropology, dad of 3 nearly grown kids, been gaming since 1982 in one form or another... it's how I relax. Somewhat new to PBP, really enjoying it though.
I've been reading through the posts for this carrion crown so far and I'm sad that Asenath is gone (she's hilarious!). Nice to meet y'all.
Btw, subiculumhammer...love the name! I thought of naming this character Dura Mater

Joseph Soltz |

I've also been reading through a little bit. I'd be sad if the reason I was cut was that I'm young and still work a bunch, but I'd also understand. Whoever gets in, though, they should fit well in your group, I think. You've got several good applications, that's for sure. I don't envy you the decision.

Joseph Soltz |

Such was the case when he and a few friends spied a curious professor, wandering down the road from Ravengro's direction (though they'd never been, nor did they specifically know of it). Seeming a bit eccentric, they followed him, off the road, and into the small (compared to the shudderwood) forest directly south of Tamrivena.
What he was looking for, they hadn't the time to find out, as with a crack of a branch nearby, they were set upon by a pair of abnormally large wolves, and though the boys were older, and bodily able, they were untrained, and with Lorrimor on the less physical end of expertise, there were few survivors. Namely, Henric and Lorrimor, though Henric had taken a nasty bite to the arm.
Lorrimor quickly identified the shapechanging corpses as not wolves, but lycanthropes. He had never before encountered quite such a young case of curse infliction, however, and wondered whether there was an alternative to euthanasia. Over the course of the next year or so, Lorrimor nearly adopted the rambunctious youth, developing methods of suppression with the poor boy, gradually finding that, while difficult, it was far from impossible to control if caught early enough.
I don't like doubleposting, but here we go. There's still a chunk of time missing, namely between the end and Lorrimor's funeral, and why Henric missed it.
Edit : I didn't want the spoiler to be missed, and I know edits aren't always seen. I've been really busy the past few days, between moving furniture and work. Working salary in a restaurant is a mixed blessing to be sure.

MrApollinax |

Joseph I don't think being young and working a lot should be an issue in itself. I work odd hours - and Vrilli and I live in a rather different time zone (different cities though), so the posting can be a bit irregular and sometimes the timing is at odds with everyone else. The problems we had earlier were inconsistency or just plain old silence. Like your concept BTW!

Joseph Soltz |

I didn't figure it was quite that literal, but I should be able to post pretty regularly, if selected. I have plenty of free time as far as short bursts are concerned, just not really time to sit down and write, which is why that background took so long to actually pop up (and even then, I wrote that on my phone).
I'm glad you like my concept! I brought him to an IRL carrion crown game that lasted only a few sessions, unfortunately, but I really, really liked my concept for him, and the overall role he played in the party.

Vrilli |

Hi All. Welcome I'm a 44 year old married father of two. I am employed as a clinical psychologist. I am lucky enough to live in a place that Mick Jagger once stated was the A***hole of the world (Invercargill, New Zealand).
FRP History: Started playing a Tunnels and Trolls (a D&D derivative) adventure run by my father in 1986. Since then I have played quite a bit of Rolemaster (often run by Mr Apollinax) and dabbled with various other systems.
Joseph: I don't think that age in itself is an issue and most of us old sods probably work decent hours (and some of us have to travel too). I think that sometimes younger folk have other more imporant priorities (e.g., relationships and career). In my own case most of those other matters are stable. I like your character concept also. BTW, age wise, the most useless and unreliable role players I know are middle aged married professional men with kids!
Dura Fletcher : Hehe! 'Tough mother' is a great character name!

SubiculumHammer |

Re Subiculum: Latin for "support", Curiously, the subiculum is part of the hippocampal formation in the brain, and the word 'hippocampus' originated from the Greek κάμπος kampos, "sea monster" or "sea horse"). Occult dusty tombs (and my particularly dusty dissertation) have revealed that the κάμπος kampos use a magical power called "BINDING," whereby features of experience are captured to form a cohesive image of the past, an image that can be stored and retrieved for decades.
But why hammer? Cuz it sounds bad ass.
Re anthropology: As it happens, my twin is an anthropologist at heart and perhaps training, although life took him into a different profession. Among all the great truths he has turned me on to, the most relevant might be that anthropologists are generally pretty fun and interesting people to have about. [Although by professional necessity, I plug my ears whenever he chides me for failing to recruit experimental samples that adequately represent the breadth of human diversity. :) ]

Joseph Soltz |

I never meant to insinuate that those of you older than I didn't have lives or work, I was just a tad discouraged, is all. Working sixty plus hours a week is taxing on the brain, as I'm sure y'all know, and sometimes I misinterpret things. It's also good to know that you like my concept, too! I'm liking my odds so far! :)
Edit: On the topic of my concept, by the nature of Henric's "gifts," he's actually pretty good at taking down (comparably powerful) lycanthropes, which is really appealing to me, thematically.

Joseph Soltz |

Actually, it varies now. I just made salary, so I work my schedule, plus whenever I'm needed. For a while, I s working almost eighty hours a week, but that's the extent of it. If only it was bringing me down a career path I wanted to close, it would feel worth it, but I can't complain too much! It keeps a roof over my head and food on the table! :)
