Friedrich looks at the frozen coffer and watches his comrade, Aiyan, attempt to open it with little success.

While normally destroying the door would've made the most sense, they had had managed to get into the Pizzeria's reaar with little problems.

He leaned forward and approached Billy and spoke silently.

"Ser William, might you try your guile to coerce a knave to openth the chamber of frost? I can provide protection."

Billy nods considered the request, it would be best if we found someone alone, grabbing a chef or cook in the kitchen could help since there's plenty of people about at the front. Rolls perception 4d6 ⇒ (1, 3, 6, 4) = 14 2 hits hmm not looking good, must be my stomach interfering.

Billy slinks forward and takes a peek into the next room. There were two people on kitchen duty, both of which were wearing greasy and stained uniforms in too-bright colors. Though the kitchen appliances did most of the work, the two people on staff were keeping themselves busy cleaning* up. (*Cleaning is very subjective.) They didn't appear to notice Billy, but Billy certainly noticed what both of them had fastened to their belts.

Big ol' guns.

This was not your average pizza kitchen.

Aiyan stepped back from the freezer door, taking one look at the lock and knowing he didn't have the skills for it, but sneaking, maybe, he could manage. He tapped Billy on the shoulder and gave him a nod.

He drew his sword, taking the moment to enjoy the feeling of her sliding from the scabbard and repressing a shiver of pleasure. "Time to play," he told her with a whisper, then flicked the small switch on the grip to turn on the built in stunner.

Aiyan stepped through the door, moving as quietly as he could.

Patrizio Perc: 6d6 ⇒ (3, 5, 5, 4, 4, 1) = 22 2 Hits.

The two men in the kitchen seem to take little notice of the man sneaking up behind them. They're preoccupied with their own cleaning, hardly caring about potential murder in the room. Suddenly one of them picks up a large can.

"Yo, Patsy," the larger one says, "Catch!" He wings a can of tomato sauce (soy-mato tomato replacement, of course) at the man, who quickly glances up and ducks. The can rebounds off the wall, splattering fake tomato everywhere.

"Demetrio, for cryin' out... fragging idiot." Patsy grabs a nearby mop and turns to start cleaning when he spots it.

Aiyan. Creeping in as quietly as he can, but with a large and gleaming sword brandished in his hands. Patrizio's face nearly goes white as his eyes meet Aiyan's. "Drek! We've got company!"

Tied on perception. I'm going to say that Aiyan surprised the hell out of them, but Patsy's got enough forewarning to try and act. Demetrio, though- not so much. So after Aiyan and Patsy's actions, we're going into all-out combat.

Rolling your Ini so that I know who goes first, hope that's alright.
Aiyan Ini: 3d6 + 6 ⇒ (3, 3, 4) + 6 = 16 Aiyan up first. Aiyan gets two passes for the surprise round, then it's time for everyone to roll.
Patsy Ini: 1d6 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8

If Patsy does not explode before his turn, open this!:

The muscle-bound man creeping into the room did not bode well for Patsy. He was not cut out for this kind of work - it's why they kept him in the back room in the first place! He dives away, trying to take cover behind one of the biggest and angriest looking pieces of machinery: some kind of auto-slicer for soy-meat-substitute and industrial-frozen-prepackaged-foodstuffs. It was big, and it was pointy. He grabbed for his gun, sincerely hoping he'd remembered to load it.

He peered up from behind the counter and squeezed the trigger.
Patsy Atk: 7d6 ⇒ (4, 5, 5, 1, 5, 6, 2) = 28 4 Hits.
Aiyan Dodge: 6d6 ⇒ (4, 2, 2, 3, 1, 1) = 13 0 hits ;.; 4 net hits + 6P base = 10P damage.
Aiyan needs to make a Damage Resistance test against 10 physical damage. Body+Armor, each hit reduces the damage by one. I think you're wearing an armor jacket for 12 armor, which would reduce the effect to Stun Damage. Still going to hurt!

Aiyan didn't hesitate. Even as the man was calling out a warning to his buddy, he was advancing fast, closing the small distance between himself and his target in a few steps. "Catch!" He snarled, unable to contain the sadistic grin.

He flipped the sword in his hands, blade up, and slashed at the guy from the groin, intent on disemboweling him from the balls up.

Blades: 14d6 + 2 ⇒ (5, 2, 1, 5, 2, 1, 2, 3, 1, 6, 3, 2, 5, 6) + 2 = 46 = 5 hits. Physical DR 9, Stun DR 9... can I get both? *grins*

If I splat the guy, this...

Spoiler:

Aiyan let go the sword, still embedded in the now dead guy and in one motion, reached into his pouch and threw a shuriken at the other guy.

I'll see if I can come up with a balanced way to use both. But for now I've gotta say no - if only because something dealing 18 damage total before additions is on par with some missiles. (To be fair, missiles are all physical damage... but still!) Also, the +2 for specialization in a skill just means 2 more d6s. The only time anything is additive is on Initiative.
Aiyan's two lost dice: 2d6 ⇒ (3, 1) = 4 Nope.

Patsy has just enough time to see Aiyan coming and start to duck backward. He almost makes it, but the razor-sharp steel of Aiyan's blade cuts straight through his meager armor.

Patsy Dodge: 7d6 ⇒ (3, 5, 2, 1, 5, 3, 6) = 25 3 Hits. 5-3=2 Net hits, Total 11P DV.
Patsy Absorb: 12d6 ⇒ (5, 3, 1, 2, 3, 4, 2, 5, 2, 2, 3, 1) = 33 2 Hits. Ouch. 9 Damage Total. Going to spend a point of the baddie's edge pool to help absorb.Edge: 4d6 ⇒ (6, 5, 2, 3) = 16 2 Hits. One Explodes. Explode!: 1d6 ⇒ 6 EXPLODE! Explode: 1d6 ⇒ 2 3 additional hits, dropping the damage to 6P.

By some miracle of luck, Patsy curves away in agony just enough to avoid having his liver severing in two. He hobbles his way behind cover, gasping for breath and clutching his large open wound.

He's alive enough to take his action! Because of his wounds, the last two dice he had no longer apply. So he's only got 3 net hits, making his total damage 9P. Aiyan will need to still roll to absorb the damage.

Second Pass

Aiyan charges the man, shrugging off the bullet. Patsy's eyes go wide with terror.

Patsy Absorb: 10d6 ⇒ (3, 5, 2, 6, 1, 6, 5, 5, 6, 4) = 43 6 hits. Good, but not good enough to save him! At 12P damage, Patsy is one very dead mobster.

Demetrio looks up at Aiyan, blood splattering across the man's once-pristine armor as Patsy's head explodes with a showering fountain of blood worthy of the best action trids. "Drek! Patsy- Oh, drek!

He didn't know if they were already coming or if they were waiting, he hadn't taken his eyes off of the second guy.

Yelling and the sound of hustled movement explodes from the front of the restaurant. A female voice calls out from the front. "Lock and load! It's probably that burned out druggie! Put the drekhead down hard!" Behind her, a faint alarm sound starts to blare.

Things are definitely happening out front - you keep your eyes on the double doors leading from the kitchen to the restaurant proper, but no one comes through just yet.

Billy hearing the commotion in front gets himself into a good firing position and waits for the first drek to come into view, hopefully the guys will have the cooks dealt with soon.

A pair of blades, one the honed blade of Shinigami, the other the greatsword of the Round, slice into the man and send another spray of blood across the once almost-clean kitchen. It was hard to tell where the usual squalor ended and the bloodshed truly began. Demetrio's deathly gurgles rattle through the room.

"Dipsy?" calls a cautious voice from the front. After a second or two, he starts shouting. "Dipsy's down! Someone get these fraggin' idiots!"

The sound of multiple guns being loaded and cocked trickles into the kitchen from the front room. One of the two double doors is pushed open slightly - just a crack. As it swiftly closes, into the kitchen tumbles a small, metallic cylinder...

Which may or may not totally be a grenade. If you're in the kitchen, you may want to think about moving. Quickly.

It took Aiyan a half second to react to the tell-tale metallic tink-tink sound that a grenade made on a hard surface. For a quarter second his mind did that blank 'oh-you-didn't' thing and then he was yelling "Drek!" It was the only word that came to mind, it would have been cooler to yell 'Grenade!' or 'Get Oouuuut!!' like they did in the Tri-D's, but 'drek' sufficed nicely enough, and it seemed appropriate.

He unceremoniously jerked his blade out of the dead guy and ran for the doors they had come through, trusting that his comrades would either be beside or very close behind him in his exit. For the few seconds it took to cover the distance, it felt like his ass was already on fire, but then he was crashing through the doors and heading for the other side of the small entrance room.

Billy had probably milliseconds to consider what to do, so when he saw Friedrich run towards him and cannister rolling along the floor he did what any man of charm would do, duck, covered and grabbed a nearby clean frying pan to covered his face with it.

After a moment that seemed like it was in slow motion, the grenade that had slid so softly across the floor of the kitchen exploded in a brilliant flash of light. The sound resonated off the stainless steel walls of the pizzeria's kitchen, echoing through the ears of all nearby like a freight train with a cranky ork at its helm. Bits and pieces of metal bounced out and around, embedding themselves into everything that wasn't a solid hunk of steel - and sometimes even that. Even the trio of runners, taking cover near their ingress of the kitchen, had an astounding amount of backblast from the explosion.

A quick glance around the wall reveals a kitchen in even more disarray than before. Now it really was impossible to tell where the marinara ended and the blood began. Flecks of shrapnel and death had covered the room, and the two mafioso bodies on the floor looked even more dead than they previously had.

The moment of silence is quickly shattered by the sound of gunfire, as the fragments of the door that once blocked the front of the restaurant is riddled with holes. From somewhere beyond, you hear the sound of a young girl crying and general fear from what you imagine were the patrons.

The door to the front hangs limp from its hinges. Beyond, you see the trashy fluorescent lights of the pizzeria. Several tables have been overturned, and a trio of armed defenders have taken up residence behind them. The middle one - a man who matches the brief description of Vic you received - stands in the middle, yelling. To either side stand the security from the front and a well-suited, businesslike man.

Aiyan took a moment. He needed a few seconds to try to shake the ringing from his ears, double check that he hadn't been perforated by the damn grenade and generally gather what remained of his wits. A cursory look around told him that they were probably going to die, but he took some comfort when he heard the sound of the crying girl, over the high pitched tone in his ears, the yelling and the gunfire, it told him that they had, at least, been on the right track.

He spotted the guy who had to be Vic standing behind some shitty wooden tables and decided, on the spot, that no matter what happened, that guy had to die. There was no rationale behind it, no real reasoning. He just had. to. die. Aiyan pulled out a grenade. "Share and share alike, you drek-eatin', hoop dockin' mother frackers!" He snarled, then jerked the pin, leaned around the corner and lobbed the grenade directly at Vic and co.

Putting his wits to use, Billy tries to look for an exit. The back storeroom they'd taken shelter in provided little in the way of cover aside from a few cheap boxes and rickety shelving. There was still the icebox, but that was locked up tight - and, of course, the door they came in. The only other option was a full-frontal charge into a group of gun toting mafiosos.

Meanwhile, and with remarkable accuracy, Aiyan's grenade lands exactly where he'd hoped - directly in front of Vic. The Italian goon audibly gasped, clearly not expecting such a response in a room he shared with noncombatants.

"These drekheads are all buzzed out of their minds! Kill these punks!" Vic lifted his weapon and opened fire at the wall again before running off to the far left side of the restaurant floor. Behind him, a number of bystanders fled out the door before the inevitable boom. The bullet ricocheted off a support beam in the wall, bouncing harmlessly back into the kitchen.

Of the two thugs still standing near the grenade, the nicer of the two lifted an arm towards the rather rude intruders. "Ruining a perfectly good dinner," he grumbled. With a wave of his hand, a burst of brilliant blue energy engulfed his lower arm - before rapidly shooting off towards Aiyan. Before the impact even strikes the swordsman, the mage was off and away - bound for the far end of the restaurant and taking cover behind the same counter the security woman once sat at. The bolt slams into Aiyan's chest, burning him from the inside out.

The same security guard who was now leveling her rather large pistol at the runners. She unleashed a bullet, then ran as far from the grenade as her legs could take her, sheltering near where Vic had taken cover. After a split second, the pizzeria fills with another flash of light and a hail of shrapnel. Several of the occupants that hadn't yet fled the restaurant scream in either fear or surprise. It's difficult to tell which of the voices belong to the gangsters.

All except one. Vic's. "Drek! Fragging drekhead burnout madmen! Kill them, dammit!"

Friedrich can't quite reach the baddies since they moved. He can run up into the front part of the restaurant, but without a sprint, you won't be able to make it into melee. Unfortunately, sprinting is a complex action - you won't be able to attack the same round anyway!

Assuming that Billy doesn't change these actions as a result of his...

Aiyan's shuriken flies true, but Vic turns just enough at the last second to meet the blade in his shoulder. A heavy armored plate just beneath his vest catches it and it sticks in tight.

No damage inflicted.

Vic stands and dives for more cover, the table he'd been hiding behind shredded nearly entirely by the fragmentation grenade. He slides into cover, then peeks out the side and unleashes a hail of bullets at the charging Friedrich! Fortunately, the brave knight of the round sees the attack coming and jukes left - the bullets harmlessly miss him.

Not to be outdone by a ruffian like Vic, Friedrich sets his eyes upon the largest target - the cybered security guard. He charges at the woman with his blade held high! Despite her best efforts to fend away the man's blade with her cyberarm, the knight finds his mark. He slashes straight through her armor and leaves a nasty wound across her midsection.

Freddy inflicts some nasty damage. Security Gal looks like she's hurting bad.

She snarls at Friedrich, flexing her cyberarm and leaning back for a heavy pistol whip to the knight's jaw. Luckily for the knight, his helmet absorbed most of the impact.

No damage inflicted.

"To hell with these fools," spat the mage behind the counter. He reached down and pressed something.

Immediately, the mechanical sound of something unseen deploying filled the room. All eyes turned towards the counter to see a rather large looking gun turret drop from a ceiling tile. It spun and took aim at the nearest target - Friedrich. The knight has no time to move as the turret opens fire with a burst of gunfire.

Friedrich must resist 10P damage with Body+Armor.

With another flamboyantly excessive wave of his hands, the mage sent another bolt of blue flame towards Aiyan! It phases straight through his cover as though it isn't there, and once more Aiyan's body is wracked with agonizing pain.

"Ruin my dinner, will you...?"

Aiyan must resist FIVE hits with only his Willpower. Damage is physical, unresisted hits are equal to the damage.

Billy still owes us a Round 2 Pass 2 Action.

Recognizing that the arrows did little to penetrate his armor, Friedrich turned and issued a command against his enemies.

"THOU TURNEST TO SUCH CRAVEN MEASURES TO HARM ME, BUT BEHOLD, A TRUE KNIGHT OF THE ROUND COWERS NOT AGAINST SUCH ACTION! FOR A TRUE KNIGHT'S ARMOR SHINES NOT FROM AN ERRANTS CARE, BUT FROM THE CONFLICTS HE HAS QUELLED!!!" Looking to see that the cybered security guard had taken a heaping amount of damage, he looked upon and offered his condolences. "Thou are the fairest of gender, however, thou hast taken arms against a knight, cast thyself among the lot of jackals and heretics. I shall end your suffering."

Billy takes a quick peek in through the ballistic-proofed windows to see what's unfolding in the middle of the restaurant. He immediately notes the magic-wielding fellow behind the counter, with a rather nasty looking sentry gun just above his head. Elsewhere the fellow they'd identified as Vic was looking a lot less healthy. Blood seeped out of several rips in his clothing, and he was panting for breath. Beside him the security woman had engaged Friedrich in a melee - and was apparently losing.

Vic and the mage are probably the softest targets. The mage has cover and looks a lot better in terms of HP damage, though. Billy still has an action for this pass.

Aiyan, immediately reacting to the pain wracking his body, ducks down behind the industrial washer and makes good use of his medkit.

Aiyan regains 2 Physical damage.

Friedrich wastes no time in charging the new greatest threat in the room - the sentry gun. He leaps up upon the counter and swings his mighty blade in an overhead arc. His blade cleaves through a hunk of metal like it is mere paper. The gun sparks and hangs precariously from the ceiling tiles, but swivels to face Friedrich regardless.

Gun is damaged, but not out.

Meanwhile, the medkit was already starting to kick in for Aiyan. With a sudden rush of adrenaline, he unloaded a fistful of death at the mage. He ducked around one of the blades, a wicked smile of his face, when the second of the shuriken caught him in the chest. He staggered backward, a crimson pool growing on his shirt.

1 good hit on the mage!

Lucy looked at Friedrich as he turned and ran. "Aw, hell no, bakebrain! I ain't done with you!" She lowered her weapon at Friendrich's back and opened fire with a hail of bullets. Fortunately, the knight's grand armor shrugged off the bullets like the feeble weapons of peasantry. The woman growls in frustration.

Bullet holes and shrapnel had rifled everything with holes. Even the ballistic glass looked as though it had seen better days, though it still managed to hold together. In the far corner of the room lay a man sheltering a crying young girl. He was bloodied, but still looked like he was breathing. The ten year old girl beside him rocked him, tears in her eyes. Another body lay three quarters of the way to the front door, his body filled to the gills with shrapnel from fractured cover or explosives.

"The girl you kidnapped, you dumb drek." Aiyan said loudly, as he walked towards the man, sword brandished and held low, the blade at a 45 degree angle to his legs. He remembered his promise to the Johnson to keep his name out of it, and hoped his colleagues would catch on. "Mr. Alonso said you picked up a fine young thing, an' he wants her for his self, see. Lucy remained silent, her gaze shifting from Vic to her assailants and back again with barely contained fury. It was obvious that losing her losing a fight was not a common problem she had to face, and she was certainly not taking it well.

The two gangsters look on dumbfounded as Billy puts the full charm to work. Vic stammers for a moment, then slowly opens his mouth and speaks. "Of course, of course. You just let Mr. Alonso know that ol' Vincenzo Fratelli only meant well and would never offend a fellow businessman by sticking his hands in his affairs! Crossed signals, nothing more, am I right?" Lucy sighs, shaking her head quietly.

"Frag this stuff. I'm out. This place is gonna start to smell bad soon enough, and I ain't paid to clean. That guy's dead." She gives Billy a nod, then points at her gun. "Don't freak, alright?" With a quick kick, she sends the gun airborne and snaps it up with her cyberarm before stowing it away in her belt. "If Vic says you're good, then we're good. But I work for the Fratellis first and foremost, capiche? So you come busting in one of our joints again, I'm gonna have to rip your arm out." Still shaking her head in disapproval of the whole situation, Lucy heads out the door and into the chilly Berlin night, her wounds already stinging from the nippy air.

Vic watches her until she's gone, then pulls a keycard from deep within his shirt. "This'll open the maglock to the freezer. She's in there with my dope cousin. He's been keeping an eye on her, she's probably fine. And, uh, don't go rattling around in there if ya don't mind. Got lots of product in there."
