Eh, I'm not worried. After Rita everyone around here's is freaking out. We haven't had more than a few drops of rain. I figure we'll get some fairly rough wind and rain, but nothing incredibly terrible. Not like people are expecting. Monday gas stations were selling out of gas, the store I work at sold out of generators, gas cans, cases of water, and D batteries in a matter of hours. Wal-Mart was barren. People were going crazy. I only let you guys know because it doesn't take more than a light breeze to knock out power down here, so there is a decent likelihood of me losing electricity for a day or two.

Also, a thought: are there any additional rules you guys would like to utilize for this AP? The Player's Guide has that Pathfinder Society fame and prestige system. Also, there are Hero Points, and I own the critical hits and fumbles decks. Thoughts?

Phillip0614 |

I'm up for the fame and prestige system as well..the rest of it I'm neutral towards. I haven't ever seen the crit and fumbles deck so I can't make an informed decision there, and we are using hero points in the Jade Regent game but I haven't actually used one yet, so I can't make any legitimate claims to knowledge there, either.

Nirthuus |

Now that I've had a chance to read up on it, I like the fame and prestige system. I wasn't sure how it would work for a non-PFS game, but it looks good.
I'm neutral about the hero points. We haven't used them in Wellard's Jade Regent game. I keep forgetting about it, so it's like it isn't even there.
I think the critical and fumble decks are better for a table-top game where most of the fun is having the players draw their own cards and read them aloud.

DM Hector |

Btw, Wellard, does Basil worship Iomedae of Abadar? Your background and personality say Iomedae.
As far as the Hero Points go, in Wellard's game you have to remember that we built our characters with 25 points. Therefor, our ability scores are high, thus allowing us to defeat monsters without too much trouble. Hence why, imho, we haven't used them yet. Haven't really needed them.

Sorry for taking so long to get the link for this info to you, Hector! The campaign page on my profile never said that there was a new post on the discussion page. Here you go:

Also, have you decided if you're going to open recruitment to replace Andavar or if we're gonna stick with the four of us?

Phillip0614 |

So...Reign of Winter should be starting in the next three weeks or so, right at our doorstep! I wanted to go ahead and ask again which of the people in this game were wanting to play that adventure path so I could figure out if any extra recruiting needs to be done.
So...if any of you were wanting to play in the RoW game I'll run, please let me know. Thank you!

Phillip0614 |

So...got a request for my favorite PbP group.
I had a seizure for the first time in my life yesterday morning and have ultimately discovered that it was a result of two nodules and a lesion in my right brain. There was a lot of swelling and edema around the area and I'm currently in the hospital taking steroids to reduce the swelling. I have a biopsy scheduled Friday to determine if it is malignant before we decide what route to take with treatment.
If any of you are praying people, please send a message Heaven-ward for me, please.

DM Hector |

Sorry guys for the delay. Prepping for a move and been sick for the last week. Had me knocked on my bum. I'll get a response up when I get home from work this evening.
I'm really sorry to hear that Phil. I'll send a few words to the big man upstairs for ya.

Medical status update for you guys: After consulting with an oncologist in Warner Robins, Georgia this morning, I have learned that I have either a grade 2 or grade 3 astrocytoma. It IS cancerous. It is NOT the really bad kind. The oncologist I spoke to told me I have already begun the process of scheduling an appointment at MD Anderson in Houston, Texas with a very experienced neurosurgeon there. I'll find out tomorrow morning when exactly my consultation appointment is but it's almost definitely going to be either next Tuesday or next Thursday and my surgery will likely follow within a couple days of that.
For at least a few days following the surgery, it's probably a safe assumption that I'll be incommunicado with everybody..which I hate, because I love you guys!

Phillip0614 |

Medical Update: I'm at MD Anderson in Houston going through new patient stuff today. Very busy schedule until early afternoon meeting with different specialists and getting the actual surgery scheduled for tomorrow. I should be able to post again tonight, but after that I'm not sure when I'll be able to post again.
They're telling me to expect a local recover of 7-10 days, but it's really all gonna depend on me, so expect me to be incommunicado for around a week or so, beginning tomorrow. Sorry for having to do this to you guys! As soon as I'm able to, I'll let you all know what's going on. My wife has told me she'll sign on for me tomorrow after the surgery is over to let you know how it went.

Phillip0614 |

Phillip is feeling fine... well, as fine as one can feel after an all-day brain operation. They think they removed over 95% percent of his tumor. We'll know for sure after he has a post-op MRI.
He's awake, talking, walking, about to get to eat something... Just letting everyone know he's okay like he asked me to do!

Phillip0614 |

Hey gang! Just wanted to let everyone know that I'm back home, recovering from the surgery. Got some very good news from the neurooncologist. The mass that they found in my brain is a grade 2 astrocytoma, the lower grade it could've been. The neurosurgeon was able to remove (according to him) 95-98% of the tumor with the surgery, which my wife has already told you.
At present, because the tumor is grade 2 and the nature of grade 2 astrocytomas is that they are very slow-growing, I do not require any follow-up treatment in the form of radiation or chemotherapy. Moving forward, the treatment plan seems to be that I'm going to have to have an MRI done roughly every quarter to check and see if the tumor has started growing again. When it does, it is at that point that I'll need to seek out radiation/chemo or whatever. But for right now, I am hunky-dory!

I'm back everyone. With that, I know this campaigns been moving pretty slowly anyway, ad with Nirthuus not having posted in quite a while, I need to know if you guys are wanting to continue this campaign. Cool if you do, but you really won't be hurting my feelings if you don't.
