Sorry! Can't do non-lethal with a crossbow!

GMG |

After Timon and Hadid do their best not to kill the animal Illirio loads his crossbow, takes aim and fires a miraculous shot through the mouth of the leopard. You see the bolt traveling trough the body, coming out at the point of the tail. The leopard jumps up straight in the air, lands on all fours and slowly topples....
It is unconscious, out of combat!

![]() |

Timmon feels his kick connect, but against the cat's leg, not the soft abdomen. His fist uselessly skims the cat's head. The leopard is now inside the area where he could ward it away with his staff and judging from the way it mauled Heveel, this could be a fatal mistake.
Suddenly Hadid is at his side, Belina is plying her bow, and Illirio laces a quarrel between him and Hadid.
The cat goes down.
Timmon holds it down with the butt of his staff and leans down to examine it.
Timmon straightens and faces the others. He places his palms together, fingers up in front of his chest and bows to them. "Thank you."
He glances down at the leopard. "Heveel, the cat still lives."
Nice shot, Illirio!
Timmon may choose non-lethal damage from time to time for random reasons, like trying to please Heveel. Don't feel the need to follow his lead in any way shape or form. Especially if it would mean a penalty on your attack roll.

![]() |

If it meant a penalty I probably wouldn't have done lol. Having EWP(Whip) lets me use my Scorpion Whip as a regular, meaning NL at no penalty. Basically I get all the upsides of Scorp and regular, but no downsides of the regular like low natural armor preventing all damage :P
Watching the arrow effortlessly sail through the cat's now-unconscious body, Hadid slowly begins coiling his whip and hooking it to his belt.
"Well then. I suppose that's one way to do it!"

![]() |

Illirio looks at his crossbow as if seeing it for the first time, or realizing that it was capable of such miraculous shots. Then he looks at his friends and grins.
"I did that on purpose. No, I swear I did. A moving target and everything. Completely deliberate, that was."
He puts up the crossbow and walks over. "Now what do we do with it? A shame to have had to stop such a magnificent animal. Should we heal it and leave it behind us? Kill it and take its beautiful skin?"

![]() |

"I have no issue with someone healing its wounds. It was instinct, not like it had a vendetta against us specifically. As long as we try to keep it unconscious till we leave, I doubt it would be thankful after nearing death and decide not to attack again."

![]() |

Heveel sighs heavily, exhaling what looks like steam. He comes closer from his companions and tries his best to smile.
"I thank you for not searching to kill the beast."
Saying this, he begins to tie bonds around the leopard's paws and heals it, using a healer's kit.

"Of course. I may try to introduce my enemies to my god and all, but I at least reserve that for the ones that need it. Plus, I doubt an animal would appreciate her power anyways."

Our heroes have eaten their breakfast and are now contemplating what to do with their bound captive leopard. They know they have to move onwards...

'I'll take the lead.'
Pill tightens her leathers then heads up hill towards the monastery.

![]() |

Timmon shrugs at the cat. "Yours to judge, Heveel."
"May I have a few moments?"
Timmon returns to his tent to sort his goods. He separates a few heavy and awkward items that he will leave behind. Then he rolls his bedroll and blanket. His tent quickly follows. He packs it all and is soon ready to climb to the monastery.
Ready! Still willing to shift T's place in the marching order if anyone wishes.

![]() |

Illirion tightens the straps on his pack then swings it over one shoulder. He hangs his crossbow from his belt, picks up his walking stick, and nods to the others as he falls in behind Pill.

![]() |

Heveel weakens the bonds for when the leopard comes back to conscience, he'll make it to snap out of them.
He pets the feline one last time, muttering some apologizing words, and follows his friends.

Any healing you want to do before leaving? I don't mind if you adjust for that.
After traveling for 1 hour from the base camp, the mountain route takes the PCs through a narrow valley thatends in a high rock wall. A large crack, forty feet up the wall, looks large enough to allow an adult human through. Several small cracks and holes dot the entire surface of the rock wall. A rock overhang, ten feet above the gash, acts as a natural roof, sheltering the immediate area from the elements.
Note that you have a -4 penalty to perception due to distance to the base of the wall

So saying, Illirio draws his crossbow and moves forward.

Illirio moves up behind Timmon, and relaxes a fraction as nothing leaps out of them, lowering his crossbow but not unstringing it.
"How do you want to tackle this climb? If there's danger here, splitting up could be a risk move."

![]() |

Timmon makes a small smile. "I can make the climb with a rope. I will lower it down once I'm up there. If there's danger I will climb back down. I have no fear that any thing would follow me when faced with a marksman of your caliber."

GMG |

Timmon, I assume you are taking 10 on these rolls for a 16. Are you climbing where you are now or under the hole in the side so you have a shorter way to climb?

![]() |

I guess I was waiting for consensus among the group. If we're plunging ahead, then Timmon will move directly under the hole before he begins climbing. To get down to light load for the climb, he'll shed his pack and carry his rope slung bandolier-like. Take 10 works for me if it works for you.

Illirio remembers some things about the cave fisher and shares the information with the party
a DC 25 Escape Artist check. A filament is AC 14 (touch 12), has 5 hit points, and has DR 15/slashing. An application of liquid with high alcohol content (or a dose of universal solvent) dissolves the adhesive and releases the creature caught by the filament. A cave fisher
can have only one filament active at a time. The cave fisher uses the filament to drag creatures up to it's size (medium) towards it.
A cave fisher is classified as a vermin and immune to mind-affecting effects. It's weakest save is will.
