Mort ruthlessly kills another dog. Might that moniker "murder-hobo's" that you overheard when the common folk talk about Pathfinders be true?

"Oh, he's awake. I guess we can all feel less bad about ending his life now. It's still sad he will die hungry," Linria frowns as she taps Blaze with a glowing palm. Guidance

I guess the dog was awakened by Ash's telekinetic stone, but probably still prone when Gitano got to him. I didn't factor in that to my attack roll. Also forgot to move my icon up to Dewey on the map. I'm still trying to get the hang of the pacing of posts. (Not sure if you saw the post prior to your last one.)
"If Dewey tries to rise, then I'll finish him off before he can get up." Gitano mutters a brief prayer to Erastil on the poor creature's behalf, before making another thrust with his bloodied rapier.

Gitano moves forward and punctures the dog's skin. Blood trickles down the flank of the hound. Unsteadily it tries to rise and Gitano tries to hit it again. This time the dog is able to dodge the attack. It looks at its comrades and takes of, tail between it's legs.
Out of combat, no idea how I missed that earlier post of yours Gitano
Gitano kneels down and investigates the two collars of the slain hounds. They are both made of quality leather and have a rampaging bull on the outside.
The northern wing of the tower seems to have escaped the worst effects of the collapse, but rubble still litters the floor and everything is covered in a thick layer of stone dust. Thick cobwebs cloak the ceiling and hang down the walls like gossamer tapestries. Difficult terrain

When Dewey runs away, Blaze smiles.
"At least one pup was wise enough to value its life.
Shall we explore the ruins?"
From outside, Blaze can see into the structure, (huzzah darkvision!)
"Cobwebs, big ones....whatever spider made those must be or have been, quite big."
Blaze waits for Mort to take point again, as he wanted to earlier.

Mort wipes the blood off his blade on the fur of one of the downed dogs and sheathes it with a click and looks over to Gitano "Find anything useful on them besides ribs?" He takes out his waterskin and takes a drink before looking around the area for anything unusual as well as any footprints he can make out in the dirt and dust.
"Lets take a quick look around out here before we rush inside to those cobwebs, maybe we can get an idea of what could be in there, other than spiders." Survival(Track): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12

He sighs a bit as he adjusts the straps yet again in hopes to make it more comfortable The sacrifices we make to not be dead, there's got to be a better material for these things!
If Blaze wants to head in first then Mort will be right behind him looking for anything suspicious as they go, otherwise he'll take point doing the same. Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22

"I do have a light, Mr. Mort," she picks up a dog's collar and casts light on it, then tosses it to Mort. "Here. This might suit you, it goes well with that big sword. Hehe..." "Is there any reason to not just burn those godsawful cobwebs and just be done with them? You know there's just thousands of little spiders in there that will do their best to feast on us, so let's stop them up front,"Ash grumbles as he walks with the group.
At least there's no spiders in the library! Zarta will hear about this!

Before heading into the tower, Gitano looks over its exterior, trying to spot any movement near arrow slits or among the battlements above, and fixing its general size and condition in his memory.
Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
As he picks his way through the rubble in the dim light, Gitano sticks close to the slayer, "Mort, you're the light of my life."
"Ash, I like the way you think. Would we be able to contain the blaze?" Mort tightens his grip on his rapier and buckler, ready to skewer any horror that leaps out of the darkness.
"Lyn, anything you can tell us about spiders?"
| GMG |
Gitano inspects the tower's exterior. It has no windows or openings beside the opening made by the collapse. The tower stands 80 feet tall and its exterior walls are amazingly smooth, which would make climbing them a chore. The remains of the eastern wall should be easier to climb.
Mort waits for Lyn's light and moves into the dark tower, taking a good look around. He scans from left to right and is about to start with the 15 foot high ceiling when he catches a glimpse of something big moving over the ceiling.... a gigantic spider! It fixes the fighter into its eyes and shoots a web at him.
From outside the others suddenly see Mort engulfed in a mass of webbing!

Blaze cuts through the spider's tough carapace and cleaves the beast almost in two!
You investigate the room and find a small cocoon hanging in the webs. It holds the remains of an unfortunate dog that fell into the spider’s clutches. The desiccated carcass is still wearing its leather collar, which is studded with lapis lazuli stones and has a silver tag reading “Kita.”.
You find the tower’s west wing mostly choked with rubble, but a door in the eastern wall is still accessible. The door leads to a stone spiral staircase that runs through the center of the tower. Unfortunately, the stairway is also blocked with fallen rubble.
If you want to explore the tower’s upper levels, you will have to go back outside and attempt to climb the tower’s exterior walls.

"Ew...at least it looks like that's the only spider," Corona grimaces as Blaze finishes the creature off. "And no way to go up from in here...so we'll have to climb? Um, I don't know how well I'll be able to do that with all my gear, New Friends..."
Gitano Frallino

"Fate favors you, Blaze. Well done!"
Gitano takes a look at the unfortunate dog's collar. "The semiprecious blue stones and silver tag suggest this animal was someone's beloved pet. 'Kita,' hmm. Does that name or the design of the collar indicate anything?"

Gitano give his rucksack a sheepish shake. "Anybody bring some rope and a grappling hook? If we took a moment or two to tie some knots in it, Corona and I might have a chance to scale the outside walls to the next floor. Or maybe one of you could climb up and drop one end of a rope down to the rest of us."
Mort Gloomhollow

Mort watches as the spider finally heads to the floor but doesn't get the chance to do any of his own hack and slash before Blaze tries out his axe on it. "Good deal! Where'd that javelin get to.." He goes and collects up his weapon then stows it and gets to cleaning off any remaining webbing.
"Time to do some climbing huh? Awesome! I can put this new chest piece to the test, its supposed to flex nicely for climbing." He pulls out a length of heavy rope and a grappling hook and starts getting it rigged up. "I'm a pretty decent climber so I'll head up first and get the rope in position for anyone else."
Mort will take his time climbing up, taking 10 for an 18. Secure the rope and stand watch while everyone else makes the climb.

"Mort, you're a gentleman and a scholar! Can you tie some knots in the rope to make the climb a little easier? Happy to give you a hand with that."
Gitano offers to stand watch below, while the rest of the team climbs up.
"If an unfortunate accident should befall me during the climb, there's a healing draught in my pack. I'd be grateful if one of you could force it down my unconscious gullet."
After the last man or woman ascends, Gitano musters the courage to grab the rope and heave himself up. "Desna, don't fail me now."
