Keldra C |
"Die you foul demons. Die at the hands of Keldra!" The half orc warrior woman screams as she stalks over and swings her greataxe at one of the creatures.
Attacking Blue Monster: 1d20 + 5 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 5 + 1 + 1 = 20
Damage to Blue: 1d12 + 6 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 6 + 1 = 16
Stolka Van Veld |
I was under the impression that the creatures were out of our reach? Also, I did ask Lem, who has bardic knowledge and can make all knowledge checks untrained, to make a knowledge check. I don't know if our wizard is trained in the appropriate knowledge.
Stolka scratches his head for a moment, seeing his magic stone have little effect. Then he shrugs, draws a cold iron javelin, and hurls it at the red-golden creature.
"Let's see how you like cold iron, little guhy."
[dice=cold iron javelin (inspire courage)]1d20+2+1[/dice]
[dice=cold iron piercing damage (inspire courage)]1d6+4+1[/dice]
"Hmm, a little to the left, maybe."
Celewen |
FOR NEXT ROUND
Assuming nothing drastic happens, Celewen plans to touch Akter to give him some luck. Since it lets you reroll d20's and he is making at least two attacks, I wanted to mention it in case he posts before me.
GM Fuzzfoot |
Ok, we are getting a little off track here. I am assuming Laeowynne is out for now - no word for a while. With so many, I think that's fine. It is true that these tiny creatures are on the side of a mountain. The mountain carving is not intended for climbing, but its sloped surface and easy handholds can be scaled with a successful DC 5 Climb check.
Climb Check: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15
Keldra hits the blue creature hard, and it does do some damage. The temple reverberates with the wrathful screeches of monkeys that seem to originate from nowhere in particular and leave the asuras shaken. The red creature fires again at Kyra.
Longbow Attack, shaken: 1d20 + 8 - 2 ⇒ (15) + 8 - 2 = 21
Damage: 1d4 - 1 - 2 ⇒ (1) - 1 - 2 = -2
Blue takes another approach and flicks a needle like tongue at Kendra, but misses by a mile.
Attack, shaken: 1d20 + 7 - 2 ⇒ (2) + 7 - 2 = 7
Stolka switches to javelins, but hits only mountain. Celewin reaches over to give Akter a boost.
Round 1: (Bold may act)
Kyra
Lem
Stolka
Celewen
Akter
Keldra
Asura: Red (7 dmg), Blue (17 dmg)
Inspire courage (+1/+1) is in effect.
Akter Phruse |
Akter five-foot-steps and repeats his routine, focusing first on the furthest target (Blue), then on the closest one (Red).
Attack 1 (Longbow): 1d20 + 7 + 1 - 2 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 7 + 1 - 2 + 1 = 19
Attack 1 (Longbow): 1d20 + 7 + 1 - 2 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 7 + 1 - 2 + 1 = 25
Damage: 1d8 + 2 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 2 + 1 + 1 = 6
Attack 2 (Longbow): 1d20 + 7 + 1 - 2 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 7 + 1 - 2 + 1 = 11
Attack 2 (Longbow): 1d20 + 7 + 1 - 2 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 7 + 1 - 2 + 1 = 24
Damage: 1d8 + 2 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 2 + 1 + 1 = 5
Point blank shot, precise shot, rapid shot, inspire courage, bit of luck
Kyra - Cleric |
Kyra loads her sling and throws a bullet at the red creature again.
Sling, IC, cover: 1d20 + 0 + 1 - 4 ⇒ (3) + 0 + 1 - 4 = 0
Sling damage, IC: 1d4 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 2 + 1 = 6
GM Fuzzfoot |
Kyra and Lem try to form a sling brigade, but they are having difficulties. Akter makes two excellent shots, resulting in the sum total of 1 damage.
Keldra's up.
Keldra C |
Keldra takes another swing at the monster with her greataxe. "You're a tough little demon but you will still fall to me and my axe!"
Attacking Blue Monster: 1d20 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 5 + 1 = 24
Damage to Blue: 1d12 + 6 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 6 + 1 = 11
GM Fuzzfoot |
Kendra drops the first of the two, despite how tough it is to damage.
Lem points out that these things are called Tripurasura, which are among the weakest asuras - manifestations not of divine mistakes but instead creations of the most powerful of asuras exhibiting their loathing of the gods by creating blasphemous mockeries of their creations.
The red one fires his bow at Lem for speaking up, but the arrow goes astray.
Attack: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10
Suddenly, what seems to be hundreds of monkeys come pouring in through various openings in the room. They overwhelm the remaining creature and take the weapons from both creatures before scattering to corners and continuing to screech and howl.
Round 2: (Bold may act)
Kyra
Lem
Stolka
Celewen
Akter
Keldra
Asura: Red (5 dmg), Blue (21 dmg, unconscious)
Inspire courage (+1/+1) is in effect.
Kyra - Cleric |
Kyra loads her sling and throws a bullet at the red creature again.
Sling, IC, cover: 1d20 + 0 + 1 - 4 ⇒ (13) + 0 + 1 - 4 = 10
Sling damage, IC: 1d4 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 2 + 1 = 6
Stolka Van Veld |
Stolka frowns as he sees Keldra bring down the other golden monster.
"Hohkay pretty lady, Stolka can't let you have all the fun."
He hauls himself up the side of the 'mountain' and strikes at the tripurasura.
[dice=Climb]1d20+4[/dice]
[dice=unarmed strike (inspire courage)]1d20+4+1[/dice]
[dice=bludgeoning damage (inspire courage)]1d6+4+1[/dice]
Akter Phruse |
Noticing his weapon wasn't making much effect, Akter stopped shooting and started paying attention to the surroundings. What a strange bunch of monkeys! Why would they take the weapons of the tripurasura?
Holding my action for now.
Celewen |
The chatty Halfling is likewise confused by the monkeys. He will delay to see what happens next. If no one gets hurt and we are still doing OK, he may do nothing
Celewen gets an idea and starts trying to mimic the behaviors of the porters from when we last saw a swarm of monkeys
Keldra C |
Keldra replies to Stolka, "If you insist Master Van Veld, go ahead now. I'm almost done with this one." With that, Keldra will raise her greataxe and strike to put a final end to the tripurasura.
Keldra will perform a Coup de Grace on the unconscious tripurasura.
Coup de Grace damage: 1d12 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7
Coup de Grace damage: 1d12 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15
Coup de Grace damage: 1d12 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17
GM Fuzzfoot |
The remaining asura takes Stolka's punch, but clearly some of it get's through.
It flicks its tongue back at him.
Tongue attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21
Damage: 1d4 - 1 ⇒ (4) - 1 = 3
Stolka - please make a fort save vs poison (DC 12)
Blue Fort vs death: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15
Keldra finishes off the blue one. It won't be recovering.
Round 3: (Bold may act)
Kyra
Lem
Stolka (3 dmg, poison)
Celewen
Akter
Keldra
Asura: Red (10 dmg), Blue (45 dmg, dead)
Inspire courage (+1/+1) is in effect.
Celewen |
Celewen rushes over and touches the Sappling of Death for luck.
Bit of Luck (Sp): You can touch a willing creature as a standard action, giving it a bit of luck. For the next round, any time the target rolls a d20, he may roll twice and take the more favorable result. You can use this ability 5 times per day. [Paizo Inc. - Core Rulebook, p.45]

"Hohkay little guhy, that's about enough of that."

Keldra C |
Keldra shouts to the monkeys of the temple, "Thank you for your help, little brothers and sisters. We will avenge you and your gods!"
She grins to Celewen, "Thank you for your blessing, my friend." then climbs around the mountain to take a swing at the last monster.
Climbing: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 1 = 17
Climbing: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 1 = 19
Bit of Luck
As she closes in on the tripurasura and brings her greataxe up to swing at it she growls. "In the name of these gods here and all things good, I and my allies will see you down and dead."
Power Attack on Red: 1d20 + 5 + 1 - 1 ⇒ (2) + 5 + 1 - 1 = 7
Power Attack on Red: 1d20 + 5 + 1 - 1 ⇒ (8) + 5 + 1 - 1 = 13
Bit of Luck
Damage to Red: 1d12 + 6 + 1 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 6 + 1 + 3 = 18
GM Fuzzfoot |
"Ack!" The powerful axe comes crashing down, just missing the little monster. It reacts by casting levitation, and trying to rise out of reach.
AoO for Stolka and Keldra.
Stolka Van Veld |
Did it cast defensively? Is the AoO for it casting a spell or it moving?
[dice=bludgeoning damage (inspire courage, wooden fist)]1d6+4+1+1[/dice]
Stolka Van Veld |
Keldra don't forget that bit of luck applies to all d20 rolls for one round, so you get to roll twice and take the better on your AoO attack roll as well.
GM Fuzzfoot |
Either would work.
Kendra cut the little metal man in half. It may eventually recover, but he is out of commission for your purposes.
A large statue of a monkey-faced man sits on a pedestal at the north end of this small shrine. The statue’s arms and legs are missing, and deep scratches have been gouged into its face. Pieces of broken stone, rotting plant matter, and other assorted rubbish lie in heaps on the floor of this room. The smell of rot is particularly strong here.
Celewen |
perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13
After the battle, the little man flits about the room discovering little treasures here and there, almost as if by magical radar. "Ewww, monkey belt. Ahhhh holy text. Ohhhh travel journal." He pauses in his excited little search. "TRAVEL JOURNAL!" He sits down immediatly and begins reading it out loud, glancing at the sour elf to make sure he is paying attention. :)
It takes a little bit of coaxing to get him to put the book away and accompany the party further on. (Or are we done?)
Keldra C |
As she cleans her axe blade with one eye on the divided metal man, Keldra says to Celewen, "Remember, we are all in this together sharing risks and rewards."
Keldra will take a second look at the rooms C3 and C5.
Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18
Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16
GM Fuzzfoot |
You are fairly satisfied that you have found all there is to find, at least without further excavation. You decide to cal this one a win, and pack up.
The rest of the hunting expedition passes without incident, and the you make your way back to Absalom
without any difficulty. Though Ambrus Valsin is excited to inspect the items you bring back from the lost temple, he is especially thrilled that you recovered the journal recounting Khiben-Sald’s travels. He immediately refers the log to the Society’s Vudran historians for analysis, hoping to glean information about other lost sites the Maharaja may have built or visited during his travels.
Baron Rudyahm is grateful for your help and to his son-in-law Falroun Matsanda for organizing the
expedition. Finally satisfied that he avenged the friends lost on his last expedition, he retires from hunting to write his memoirs. Falroun is also overjoyed with the Pathfinders for helping him bond with his father-in-law.
Falroun arranges to have your hunting trophies stuffed and mounted and delivered to you as a gift at the adventure’s conclusion.
Finally, because you nonviolently resolved the encounter with the monkeys in area A1 and defeated the asuras in area C4, you earn the god Ragdya’s favor and receive the Ragdya’s Blessing boon on your Chronicle sheets, which I should get out to you shortly. Thank you, everyone, for a great game!
