GM Fuskee |
Linux slices off a couple of the basilisk scales along with a lot of its skin. It seems to be pretty hurt, about halfway to dead.
Raphael Pendragon |
Against his better judgement Raphael whispers a prayer to Kurgess as he reloads his crossbow for another shot.
Aversion: 1d100 ⇒ 34
Ranged Attack: 1d20 + 2 - 4 ⇒ (10) + 2 - 4 = 8
"So much for Kurgess, maybe I'll try Desna next..." mutters Raphael as his bolt flies away.
GM Fuskee |
Bite: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (1) + 9 = 10
The basilisk goes to bite Linux again but is distracted with the pain of Linux's strike and doesn't hit him.
Turn 10/11:
Linux: Go
Raphael: Go
Basilisk: Waiting
Lucent: Stoned.
Eradan: Stoned.
I'm holding my breath everytime I roll these, lol.
Linux Bladerose |
Linux continues to engage the lizard with renewed vigor.
Avert gaze: 1d100 ⇒ 99
Fort save: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22
Avoiding the deadly glare of the basilisk, Linux slices at the scaly beast's hide...
Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21
Damage: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
...and lands a solid hit!
"We'll be done with you yet, by Kurgess!", he exclaims.
Raphael Pendragon |
"I see Kurgess's favor has already been taken." Raphael says. "Desna! Show me the same favor!
Aversion: 1d100 ⇒ 15
Ranged Attack: 1d20 + 2 - 4 ⇒ (14) + 2 - 4 = 12
"I'll need more favor than that..."
GM Fuskee |
One more strike like that from Linux and the beast will be finished!
Bite: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (13) + 8 = 21
Bite Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
The basilisk bites back, weak from the lack of blood, and scratches Linux with its teeth.
Turn 11/12:
Linux: Go
Raphael: Go
Basilisk: Waiting
Lucent: Stoned.
Eradan: Stoned.
Linux Bladerose |
Linux looks equally drained as the basilisk takes a bite out of him (2 hp remaining). He takes another swing at the beast, but this time finding a surge of strength...
Use swift action ability Surge of Strength
Averting gaze: 1d100 ⇒ 69
Fort Save: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
If permitted to use my re-roll from having an Official Pathfinder Player Character Folio...
Averting gaze: 1d100 ⇒ 29
Attack w/ Strength Surge: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16
Possible Damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
...otherwise I believe I am stoned...and not in a good way!
Also - sorry I forgot to check posts this week. Thanks for the reminder, Bates!
GM Fuskee |
You can totally use a reroll! I will say that I believe the rerolls can only be used on D20s but let's be honest, I don't really care seeing as how this fight is a little OP anyways, however...
Linux manages to avoid the basilisk's gaze again but doesn't quite hit the creature with his surge of strength, the sword deflected by the natural armor of the beast.
That damage would have killed him too, but he's got an AC of 18. It's up to Raphael now!
Raphael Pendragon |
Are the bars between Linux and the Basilisk still up? The reason I ask is that if they are Raphael will tell Linux to take a step back and heal himself, and Raphael will look away while that happens to avoid meeting the creature's gaze while its looking around freely. If the creature can just step through after Linux though, then Raphael will just keep praying for a crit as the Basilisk would chomp on him pretty easily once Linux goes down
GM Fuskee |
They are not up, you kind of had to get through the door to start fighting it, if they were up he'd still be Gaze attacking people instead of biting. Also, Linux is technically over one square to allow you a clear shot to the basilisk, remember? I was assuming you guys had coordinated some battle strategy to not take the cover penalty so we were saying that Linux took a 5 foot step at some point and was attacking from the side rather than in your way.
Lucent Ferelden |
If you look underneath the tokens, you'll see that there's a doorway between him and the basilisk. A page or so ago, Fuskee stated that all the cage doorways are open, save for the one to the hallway, which we opened by force. Lucent thinks, in a stony, out-of-character fashion.
Raphael Pendragon |
gotcha
Raphael tries looking to Nethys for guidance as he risks another shot at the Basilisk
Aversion: 1d100 ⇒ 54
Fort: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 1 = 15
Ranged Attack: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 1 = 12
Alas, Nethys doesn't look kindly on Raphael's god hopping.
GM Fuskee |
The Basilisk also worships Nethys, whispering a prayer in Basilisk as he looks upon the god-hopper and uses his Gaze attack!
I rolled a hit on Linux so instead he's going to Gaze and see if he can buy Linux another round to attack, lol.
Linux Bladerose |
In an effort borne of sheer desperation, Linux attempts to finish the beast...
Aversion: 1d100 ⇒ 87
Fort save: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21
Attack of Desperation: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21
Damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12
...and scores a solid blow!
"Fear not, Raphael! Victory and salvation is within our grasp! Kurgess be praised!"
Raphael Pendragon |
The Basilisk gazes directly at Raphael....
Aversion: 1d100 ⇒ 64
and Raphael is not quick enough to look away. He feels a tingling sensation in his bones...
Fort: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 1 = 20
But manages to shake off the monster's evil eye.
Readying his crossbow for another shot, Raphael risks another look in the Basilisk's general direction....
Aversion: 1d100 ⇒ 31
And is able to fire off a shot without looking directly at the creature. Raphael searches his memory and asks Erastil to guide his bolt as he fires...
Ranged Attack: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Unfortunately Erastil decides to guide Raphael's bolt directly into the floor.
GM Fuskee |
Raphael doesn't need to waste the bolt, because Linux finally finishes off the beast, his sword stabbing right into the creature's neck and cutting a vital artery.
Combat over! Don't forget to drench the rest of the guys in blood and heal up, then we can move on.
Linux Bladerose |
Linux slumps forward, leaning on his blade protruding from the basilisk's neck. With a show of effort, he composes himself and withdraws his blade.
"I believe we shall need to bleed out this creature to save our comrades from the affliction of its gaze." he declares as he begins to drag the carcass towards the group. Once there, he opens a greater wound in order to more easily gather blood. He beckons to Raphael for assistance as he turns to the closest of the petrified companions and begins to wipe the basilisk blood on the statue's head. He continues to apply the gore to his fellow Pathfinders until they are all flesh once again.
Lucent Ferelden |
As the basilisk blood is absorbed into the statue-that-is-Lucent, his flesh and clothing softens and finally regains its natural form. He blinks hard and stretches, giving his neck a crack.
"Ugh... So stiff... like I slept on a rock." He looks around as he gets his senses back, and sees Linux looking half-dead. "Linux, did you slaughter that beast on your own? My memory is foggy, but I think you saved our lives! Let me aid you while you rest a moment."
Lucent flicks his Wand of Cure Light Wounds out of his wrist sheath and fixes Linux up while he recounts the glorious battle.
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
I know Linux was at 2/13 HP, but I don't know about anyone else, so just shout if you need heals.
Eradan Dúnadan |
Eradan stretches as though he woke up from a long nap. "That beast really did a number on me there, I feel as stiff as a plank!" Eradan looks around his group, seeing them all looking a bit beaten up or stiff, but generally okay. "Let us carry on then!"
GM Fuskee |
Raphael peeks around the corner and sees a long hallway with a few gaps where they lead to other corridors. The tunnels all meet to a central room where three wooden tables and a number of chairs are stacked, out of the way, along with a shipping crate about two feet square.
Raphael can also see from his area that to the east, a portion of the stone wall stands ajar a few inches.
Lucent Ferelden |
"I'll take the lead. Hopefully won't set off more traps..."
Lucent takes his time and quietly moves up to the central room, while listening for voices or footsteps. If he hears nothing, he signals for the rest of the group to follow. He then inspects the tables and shipping crate, checking to see if it is labeled and can be opened.
Stealth Check: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17
Perception Check: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11
Linux Bladerose |
Before leaving the basilisk's lair, Linux takes a quick look around for anything of importance or value that he may have been guarding.
Perception check: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (9) + 8 = 17
When finished there, he also looks around the room further down the hall with his companions.
2nd Perception check: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (13) + 8 = 21
Once both areas have been searched, Linux prepares to back-up Lucent in case he finds another challenging adversary ahead.
GM Fuskee |
Linux looks around the barred area and figures it to be just a jail of some sort. More than likely to be used as the basilisk's pen. Searching around reveals no hidden doors and no items of use.
Go ahead and move yourselves on the map also.
The shipping crate appears unarmed as Lucent pulls off the lid and reveals that it is full of wooden dolls of a glaring woman with no mouth...
What is this?!: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
...and that is all anyone knows about them but you can tell they're worth some gold.
The tables are normal tables and if you inspect the jammed door you can see that it's a secret passageway that connects to a narrow hallway to some metal stairs. The stairs go up to the street level but over the years the street has been re-cobbled and is paved over the exit.
The above roll was a Knowledge, I'm just going to go ahead and do certain knowledges and perceptions as we go along to speed things up a bit but don't let that stop you from actively rolling yourself. I'll try to add stuff if I can.
GM Fuskee |
Linux listens and hears nothing so he peeks his head inside and finds out that these are both storage rooms. Spare furniture and food fill the shelves of the little storage areas.
If you took your time to look around you would find nothing extra however....
Randomness: 1d20 ⇒ 10
Randomnessagain: 1d4 ⇒ 4
A party member brings up the details of the original mission and reminds everyone that they still need to sabotage the Lissalan's safe house and make it look like it was the Aspis Consortium. However, when Eradan takes a look at the storage rooms, he realizes that these are all things that could easily be replaced and wouldn't really hinder the Lissalans that much if they decided to sabotage them this way...
Nothing else important to see or do in those rooms. Pick another!
Lucent Ferelden |
Lucent continues searching for something to sabotage. He stops outside a door and has a listen before going in.
Perception to listen: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18
Assuming he hears nothing, he takes a look inside and pokes around.
Perception to search the room: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10
GM Fuskee |
You don't hear anything immediately, as the door leads to a hallway, but as you move down the hallway you hear short muffled screams. Nothing immediate happens and you can take time to gather the others and prepare, but when you do go up to the door you can see that it's cracked open...
This room appears at first glance to be an operating theater, as it contains cots draped in clean sheets and tables neatly stacked with surgical implements and dressings, but mixed among the surgical implements are whips, scourges, and other tools of torture.
On the cots, three humans lie face down, not moving at all except for the short muffled screams you heard earlier as two non-humans move between them, taking their time to peel away their skin...
Religion: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14
...and it's in the shape of the Sihedron rune which is the symbol of the Lissalans.
The human-like creatures continue to walk between the cots and seem to be too busy flaying skin to notice you.
Linux Bladerose |
Linux nods in agreement with Lucent and prepares for the fight. With a grin spreading across his face, he moves in front of Lucent and into the room to swing his sword at the closest of the Lissalans.
Initiative: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19
GM Fuskee |
Go ahead and roll initiative, you other two, I'll update the map tomorrow.
GM Fuskee |
Lissalan Initiative: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10
Lissalan Initiative: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
Snake Initiative: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11
Stupid Ben: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14
Linux moves in to attack (works out that he's first up) and as the Lissalans notice him enter the room they shout out, "GET OUT! Can you not see that we are busy!" Linux moves in and gets an attack while the rest of the group follows in after. The shouting from the Lissalans rustles a pet snake from its sleep and it slithers out to help its angered owners.
You guys didn't surprise them or anything with stealth so it's not like they can't act but lucky for you all my dice rolls are awful so feel free to go at it. Everyone gets to take their turn!
Turn 1:
Linux - Already moved, gets an attack.
Lucent
Raphael
Eradan
Snake
Lissalan 1
Lissalan 2
Linux Bladerose |
Linux steps up the the closest of the Lissalans and prepares to engage.
"Are you too busy to die?", he taunts.
Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25
Confirm crit: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19
Base damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11
Crit damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
Linux looks at the bloodied Lissalan with a smirk of triumph. "Who's next to feel the wrath of Kurgess?", he threatens the remaining enemies.
Linux Bladerose |
"You may need a blade to chop up that scaly, Lucent!", Linux chides. "Snakes don't make very good archery targets, my friend!"
"Come friends! Join the melee!", the over-confidant warpriest urges.
