Part of the next book includes needing to level up your ship. You will need to agree on a tier 5 ship. You can either use the sunrise maiden and upgrade it or start from scratch and build a tier 5 ship.
Haath Chaar
|
If anyone hasn't upgraded or built a Starship before, we essentially get 135 Build Points to either recustomize the Sunrise Maiden or sell her for a new frame and build a new ship.
Every time we level, the ship also levels, and each time we can either upgrade what we have or completely reconfigure whatever we didn't like.
There's lots of options. Any preferences? I only ask for a gun that Hi-C can shoot ^_^
Handsome Gob
I haven't upgraded or built a starship before and am pretty indifferent to how we upgrade it. If there's already a pregenerated starship that's leveled up, I'm okay with that as well.
Handsome Gob
Alrighty, loot talk!! We've got a lotta items on the list. Who wants to take what? If more than one person wants the same item, then I propose a roll-off.
At present, Dreamz would like the d-suit. Anyone else want that? Does anyone want any other itemson the list?
Justin, I think you already took the frostbite zero rifle, right? I'm guessing you'll also take the staff of mystic healing and some of those spell gems? If so, please go ahead and set the quantity of the items you take to 0.
There's nothing specific I want for Handsome although I think that brown force field mod may be useful for Hi-C?
Anything that we don't want to keep around we can sell off, then distribute all the cash. After everyone has stated what they want or stated that they don't want anything, I can start selling off the excess inventory and get back to everyone with how many creds we each get.
Sound like a plan?
"Egg"
I'll let you guys keep my shares to help build while Egg will keep his weapons and armor.
My new guy Rover would take a sniper rifle, and any small arms people dont want.
Xavier "Rover" Florin
Tech lab, Science Lab, and medical bay would be nice. Also any armor upgrades or weapon upgrades
Handsome Gob
This is also a good time to bring up that changing characters is an option too. The built in society of like minded adventurers to replace you if you die or something else seems more interesting than chasing cultists helps a lot on that avenue.
Out of curiosity, would you allow respeccing existing characters? If yes, I might consider switching out some feats or other options. If not, no worries!
GM Friendly Sauce
You could convert the cargo holds into labs, maybe even sacrifice the rec suite too. Or get an entirely new frame.
DR34-M12
Based on our previous space battles maneuverability only goes so far. I wouldn't be opposed to more, bigger guns.
GM Friendly Sauce
Handsome probably wants that pistol, right?
I bet Rover wants it more haha. The operative when i played through practically squee'd at that pistol when we read the stats.

I'll have to go over the ship building stuff but that seems good. Wouldn't mind a second gun with the extra points. Though I'm not sure we want to fully skimp on sensors and thrusters.
Picking up Technomantic Dabbler For my level 5 feat since I don't have the BAB for damage reduction. Taking Mending and Token spell for the lv 0 and Comprehend Languages for the lv 1. Allows me to make computer checks for raw code and foreign programming languages without penalty.

--------------------
Special Abilities
--------------------
Combat Tracking(Ex): As a Move Action during combat, can designate a foe for exocortex to track. As long as target is in sight, attacks against the target treat your BAB as equal to your mechanic level. Designating another target causes you to lose the bonus on the previous target. Gain proficiency with heavy armor and longarms.
Memory Module(Ex): 1/day, as a reaction while not in combat, you can reroll a failed skill check to recall knowledge. In addition, you gain Skill Focus as a bonus feat.
Fast Retrieval(EX): Can use Computers skill for any skill check to recall knowledge whenever you have access to an infosphere or downloaded data set. In addition, Treat 1/2 Computers ranks as ranks for Culture for skill check with that skill. Considered trained.
Overload(EX):As a standard action, you can cause a short in an electronic device, including most ranged energy weapons, melee weapons with the powered special property, or a single armor upgrade. This makes the device nonfunctional for 1 round. Overload doesn’t cause a locked door, safe, or other device to open, but it prevents anyone from opening it for 1 round. You must be adjacent to the device to use this ability. If you have a drone, you can instead use this ability on an electronic device adjacent to your drone. If you have an exocortex with the wireless hack ability, you can instead use this ability on any electronic device within range of your exocortex’s wireless hack. If you use overload on an item or armor upgrade in someone’s possession, the owner can attempt a Reflex saving throw to negate the effect (DC = 10 + half your mechanic level + your Intelligence modifier). Overload doesn’t affect androids, cybernetics, drones, powered armor, robots, or creatures with the technological subtype (all of which have shielding against this sort of attack), or items larger than Medium. Once a device has been successfully overloaded, a residual static charge prevents that device from being overloaded again for 1 minute.
Overcharge (Ex): As a standard action, you can use your custom rig to overcharge and attack with a ranged energy weapon or a melee weapon with the powered special property (see page 181) that you’re holding. If you hit, you deal 1d6 additional damage of the same type the weapon normally deals. This attack uses three times as many charges from the battery or power cell as normal and can’t be used if the weapon doesn’t have enough charges. This trick has no effect on a weapon without a battery or power cell. You can instead use this ability as a move action on a touched powered weapon that is unattended or attended by an ally to grant the same effect to that weapon’s next attack before the beginning of your next turn.
Remote Hack (Ex) - 5th Level
You can use your custom rig to attempt Computers and Engineering skill checks at a range of 20 feet. At 7th level and every 2 levels thereafter, this range increases by 10 feet. A target of this ability (or a creature attending or observing your target) can attempt a Perception or Sense Motive check (DC = 10 + 1-1/2 × your mechanic level + your Intelligence modifier) to determine that you are the origin of this activity.
Wireless Hack (Ex) - 5th Level
Instead of combat tracking, your exocortex can access another computer system within 20 feet, allowing it to attempt a Computers check against that computer each round, using your skill bonus. This counts as a standard action for the purpose of the Computers skill. You must remain within 20 feet of the computer system for the entire time your exocortex is interacting with the computer. If the task requires multiple actions (or even rounds) to accomplish, you can spend your actions to work in concert with your exocortex, counting both your action and the exocortex’s effective standard action toward the total time required. If you don’t have the remote hack class feature, you must be adjacent to the computer to attempt your checks.

Another option is simply upgrading the Maiden. This build doesn't have armor, and it has only 1/3 the Hull Points, but it's faster, more maneuverable and has two guns:

What do you think, Friendly Sauce? Yay? Nay?
If no one else wants the thermal capacitor justin will take it. air conditioning AND ignore 5 points of fire/cold? Hell yes
All yours as far as I'm concerned!
Handsome probably wants that pistol, right?
Nah, I'll pass. Handsome isn't particularly good with guns or combat in general. And the pistol has a really short range. Handsome likes to remain a bit further away from the baddies, preferably with Hi-C in between.
But perhaps our new operative would go for it?
As for the ship, I'm really okay either way. Don't have any particular preferences but we may want at least a second weapon. In character, as captain, Handsome might like the bigger frame to over compensate for his small size. "That's right biatches!! Mine is bigger than yours!!

I'm alright with some light reskinning like if a class option or feat isnt working out for you. If its more than that like a class change I'd prefer you just roll a new character.
ALSO!
I still need Chronicle info from DR34-M12, Justin, and Egg.

Question for the group:
Hi-C has Coordinated Shot. Since everyone else is ranged-focused, I thought it would be a useful party buff, but it doesn't seem to come into effect much. With an Operative, we'll now have access to Debilitating Trick, and Handsome uses Clever Feint and Get'em.
Do you want me to keep Coordinated Shot for the extra occasional +1? Or should I retrain it into something else?
DR34-M12
Starfinder is stingy with it's bonuses so every little bit helps. However I agree that it doesn't actually come in to play very often. Something like Step Up may be more useful to you. Close Combat combined with your shield would give you a good AC even when standing in the open.

Part of the problem is most mooks who Hi-C stands next to don’t survive long enough for that +1 to come into effect haha

Haha! Yes, this! I think Hi-C just ends up lopping heads off left and right very quickly!
I agree with Dreamz in that if you see some other feat that seems more useful or interesting, then switch it out and see!
Handsome Gob
Oh and hey Friendly Sauce, remember how I had previously asked if you can make the chronicle sheets higher resolution?
Redelia on these forums has actually put together a guide on how to put together chronicles. Maybe this will be helpful?
Link
GM Friendly Sauce
I'll take a look at that, but it looks like the instructions are primarily for windows and I am a gentlemanly Mac user haha.
I Have you and Hi-C's Chronicles done and I think i was able to get a higher resolution on them this time. I'll get posted tonight and if they are still too grainy or blurry I'll bring my work laptop home and just make them on that using Redelia's guide.
Handsome Gob
Gotcha. If it's a lot of effort, then no worries. No need to go out of your way. Thank you tho!
Xavier "Rover" Florin
I'll take the Liquidator Pistol and a Shirren Tactical Eye Rifle[if its a sniper rifle]
Handsome Gob
Just PMed you what they are looking like now.
Looks good to me!! Thank you!

GM Friendly Sauce wrote:Just PMed you what they are looking like now.Looks good to me!! Thank you!
Perfect, I'll be PMing everyone else's as I get their info since that method seemed to work just fine.
EDIT:
Handsome, Hi-C, and DR34-M12 have all been PMed their chronicles.
DR34-M12
Looking the ships over and I'm leaning more towards the upgraded Maiden. Having the extra gun is very nice. Not having armor seems fine, to have a decent change in our AC status costs way too many BP right now. The only thing that gives me pause is the lower HP.

Yah, not planning to make any major class changes. I'm thinking to adjust feats that would make Handsome a bit less of a not-very-competent skill monkey and a bit more effective in combat, especially now that we have an operative with additional skills. Of course CHA-based skills will still be Handsome's priority.
I'll look to finalize my level 5 build this weekend.
I'll take the Liquidator Pistol and a Shirren Tactical Eye Rifle[if its a sniper rifle]
Go for it! As always, please decrease the quantity on the loot sheet to reflect that you've taken the items. Otherwise, it'll later get counted in the items to get sold off.

As long as everyone has a 5th level build by Sunday night we should be good. I'll have the first post for book 3 up by then or Monday morning depending on what my wife has planned for the first fathers day.
