Heh, Bronwenir is quite happy to be wrong in this case.

In case anyone is wondering what a splanch is, it's either: 1) an organ that elves have that dwarves may or may not; 2) an organ elves and dwarves have that Bronwenir doesn't know the common word for; or 3) something Bronwenir recalls incorrectly from his cursory studies of anatomy.

General rules reminder post:

Stable: A character who was dying but who has stopped losing hit points each round and still has negative hit points is stable. The character is no longer dying, but is still unconscious. If the character has become stable because of aid from another character (such as a Heal check or magical healing), then the character no longer loses hit points. The character can make a DC 10 Constitution check each hour to become conscious and disabled (even though his hit points are still negative). The character takes a penalty on this roll equal to his negative hit point total.

If a character has become stable on his own and hasn't had help, he is still at risk of losing hit points. Each hour he can make a Constitution check to become stable (as a character that has received aid), but each failed check causes him to lose 1 hit point.

So you can just treat him and he wont be in any danger of dying, if you don't want to waste healing consumables on him at the moment.

You guys have 3 months of in game down time. You can spend it however you wish. Let me know if you are doing any crafting or anything. You are also more than welcome to take advantage of retraining if you what to mix up you PC.

As for the next adventure, I have a side quest, which is set in the city and is pretty fun, that I can run or we can just continue along the main storyline.

I'm good either way.

Side quest sounds fine to me.

Is anyone in charge of tallying the loot?

Woot - Level 4! the money mentioned - 100pp and the retainer of 200 gp - is that party or each?

Side Quest - I quite agree.

Can we retrain hit points? If not then the only thing a fighter type can likely do is to train a few languages.

Can Justified also work and make some money?

I'll level in a moment. I like to level. :)

Jusitifed levels and takes another level of Fighter (Lore Warden).

Taking half +1 for hit points he gains a total of 8 hit points.

His BAB increases by 1 and his Fort Save increases by 1. With a 4 BAB that means his power attack with a 2 handed weapon increases to +6.

His 4th level ability score increase is in Dex, raising it to 16. This increases his AC (Much needed), his CMD, and his dex based skills, and also increases his number of attacks of opportunity per round with combat reflexes. And due to the feat Fury's Fall the dex increase also increases his CMB with his trip attack. Yeah Dex increase. :)

He gains a bonus Fighter feat and takes Improved Disarm.

He also gains 6 skill points, two of which must be Int based.

I'm happy side-questing, I think. As for down-time activities, I'll need to think on it a bit, but it will likely involve Graythan putting out feelers for news/leads regarding Vanthus and a little bounty hunting in the city.

The money is per PC. I'll pick up the side quest 2 months later, so you that's an extra 1400gp total to play with.

I'm fine with you guys taking advantage of the downtime activities listed in the complete campaign source book (PRD), with the exception of gaining xp. Just note, we will be leaving the city soon, never to return, so don't plan on making any long term investments

I don't know if anyone is keeping tabs on loot, but if someone wants to track that in the future in a google Doc or something, that would be great.

Loot total from thIS adventure:

Art objects:
- Silk hangings (200gp)
- Books (200gp)

- wooden crown fitted with seven moonstones (700GP)

Magic items:
- +1 studded leather
- +1 leather armour

I didn't add consumables, and I am sure most of this has been added to loot lists, but here it is.

3 months of down time... alright, Bron's average Perform (dance) result is 15, which earns 1d10 sp/day. Assuming performing 5 days per week, we've got 13 weeks of 5 days per week = 65 days.

I suppose the silver bars would be face-value, but that would be up to the GM. Everything else is accounted for under "SALE VALUE".

The only two items that would really benefit Graythan are the headband of inspired wisdom and the cloak of resistance, but I think they'd put to better use going elsewhere in the group (the headband for Savarend in particular). So, no dibs for Graythan at this point.

And that's an excellent and extremely helpful summary, Sav. Thanks so much for crunching those numbers together!

Savarend, did you count the art objects at full price? Seems like you did not.

Justified will claim the belt of giant strength as part of his share if no one objects. He would love the boots also, but that would exceed his share value. Could he take both and in turn pay some of his reward money into the pot?

Justified - That is what changed with the revised list. Commodities and art objects at full price. I clarified my previous post. Thanks.

I am updated to 4th-level. I picked up Ghostglyph for my next Forgemaster glyph, so we can take care of any incorporeal targets.

1. I will spend 1,000gp and 1 day to upgrade my masterwork warhammer to a +1 warhammer.

2. I will spend 1,500gp and 1.5 days to upgrade my +1 breastplate armor into +2 breastplate armor.

(I will update my CS when these are approved)

3. GM, how much would it cost to rent space at a blacksmith to do some mundane work?

4. If anyone has magic weapons and armor, I can upgrade them at half-cost.

/me tackles Savarend with a sudden hug

With a personal share of 3,781.4 and the headband having a sell price of 2,000 - that means I can take the headband and a cut of 1,781.4, yes?

If so, I will do so!

Liberty's Edge

M Human Lore Warden (Fighter 7): HP 70/70 AC: 19/13/16 F: +6 R: +5 W: +2 (3 vs fear), Per: +7 Init:+3)

I see that now Savarend. I had hoped that making those items full price would have made a larger difference in the totals. :)

My masterwork Glaive-guisarme needs to be magic for sure. My chain shirt is already magic, but could be +2…

Justified will spend a lot of his time retrying hit points.

Retraining hit points takes 3 days and requires you to spend time at a martial academy, monk monastery, or with some kind of master of combat who is at least one level higher than you. At the end of the training period, increase your hit points by 1. You can retrain hit points only if your maximum hit point total is less than the maximum possible hit point total for your character. Retraining costs gp equal to 10 × your level × the number of days required to retrain.

So in three days Justified can retrain and gain a hit point at the cost of 160 gold. If he has a the gold he could do this 12 times and max out his hit points. Note that I think he may need to do this since the rogue has more hit points than he does at the moment. :)

M Human Lore Warden (Fighter 7): HP 70/70 AC: 19/13/16 F: +6 R: +5 W: +2 (3 vs fear), Per: +7 Init:+3)

Sigh, never enough gold. So by my math Justified gets 2400+3,781.4, or 6182.4 gold. He had 799.35 gold on hand, bringing his total to 6980.75 gold.

From that he spends 2000 to buy the Belt of giant's strength +2 and provides 1000 gold for weapon enchantment. He also trains with a trainer to improve his health and stamina at a pricy 40 gp a day for 36 days at a cost 1440 gold. This leaves him 2540.75 which is short of the sale price of those boots. The boots are not on his need list anyway. Better for him to pay half of 3000 to upgrade is armor to +2 if Savarend has the time, ability, and inclination to do that as well as his weapon.

Justified, it looks like you don't have a belt of strength currently, you should take the one available so you can get it at effectively half price. Whoops, Got ninja'd by the fighter!

I'm thinking about getting Saravend to add Spell-storing to my magic scarf (the typing of which suddenly makes me think of the 4th doctor), but I think improving AC might be better. This character is a front-liner with relatively low HP, so more protection would be better.

I'd like the +1 cloak of resistance, but nothing really other than that.

Yea, Moira, the books would be better for you than Justified, BUT I don't think you just take them at this point. You buy them from the party at their sale price (half their value). Just like I'll take the bracers but count them as 2000 of my total gold. Otherwise the gold numbers will not work out.

Glad Justified did the math. 6182.4 plus Moira had 859 for a total of 7041.4

Moira takes the boots of striding and springing (2750), +1 rapier (1160), +1 studded leather (587). Total of 4497. Gold remaining is 2544.4 gp.

It should be half the upgrade cost from +1 to +2. So 1500 gold for the armor and 3000 gold for the weapon.

*Shrug* 1gp per day? That seems reasonable. More if you don;t have your own tools.

I'm catching up on a couple of other games, but I'll kick off the next adventure in the next few days. It doesn't immediately jump into combat, but we will need to have our equipment settled before the first fight. So no, rush, but no need to doddle.

Yeah, I want Bron's upper torso to be bare. I guess there are actual stats for an armored Kilt out there but I don't have it in my Herolab file.

That's fine.

Moira - I must have missed some info. Upgrading your equipment from +1 to +2 would cost 2,000gp for the rapier and 1,000gp for the studded leather armor.

This is what Savarend does:

1. He goes shopping and buys iron ingots.

iron (1sp, 1lb)

2. He finds a smithy and starts crafting.

Base modifier (+9), masterwork tool (+2), Take 10 --- Total check +21

Total check (21) X Item DC (20) = 420sp in one week

3. He is going to fashion them into simple locks.

420sp X 12 weeks = 5040sp (Rounding it to 500gp for simplicity)

500gp / cost of simple lock (20gp) = 25 simple locks

Sell to merchant at half cost, total of 250gp.

250gp - 25sp (materials) = 247.5gp profit

4. He pays the smithy for their facilities, and pockets 157.5 gold pieces.

If Savared has the time (I'm not sure how many days it would take to enchant all our stuff and if that'd cut into your simple-lock making), bumping Graythan's crossbow up from +1 to +1 keen would be, well, keen! =P

3,611.7
-750 gp (pick up a wand of cure light wounds for the group!)

As for Greythan's 2 months of down-time, he would take one or two simple, local jobs to find people, burgeoning bounty-hunter that he is. The rest of his time (and the bulk of it), would be split between putting feelers out for Vanthus as well as working the few feeble leads he has on his father's whereabouts.

EDIT: Justified is right as far as the cost of the +2 enhancement for weapons. For some reason, I'd gotten in my head the cost was 6,000 rather than the difference (which is likely what happened with Sav's calculations too I'd bet).

As such, I'll settle for just picking up a wand of cure light wounds for the group. I'll horde my remaining coin for later. =)

Sorry to be late on this. But after double checking my math this is how Justified spends his time/gold.

His take of the loot was 5181.4 gold (including reward and retainer). He had 799.35 gold on hand so he started the down time with 5980.75 gold.

He contributes 2000 to the party for taking the belt of strength (paying half the purchase price) and so has 3980.75 gold.

He checks into a monastery and enters a 36 day program of healthy eating and exercise. This costs him 40 gold per day for a total of 1440 gold. After which he has 2540.75 gold.

He has Savarend enchant his masterwork weapon, costing 1000 gold and further enchant his +2 armor to +2, costing 1500. This leaves him 40.75 to live on.

He spends the remainder of the second month (about 26 days) working as a guard here and there trying to at least make room and board. This should keep him plugged into the city's rumor mill. He is also always available to help any of the party with any projects they might need him for.
