The Flaxseed Pathfinder Lodge

Back from GenCon! Had a blast but so exhausted. I should be back to normal posting now.

Alice and Milloy detect neither magic nor traps in this dragonless hall.

The double doors at the end of the hall lead to a room in which a blue mosaic dominates the floor. The ceiling rises to several domes twenty-five feet above. A large marble statue of a robed man with hair braided in a loop and worn like a necklace looks down on the chamber serenely from the east.

DC 10 KN (religion):
This is a temple to Irori.

DC 15 KN (religion):
The mosaic on the floor is one of Irori's symbols known as the Master's Rebus.

DC 20 Perception:
There is a trap door beneath one of the prayer rugs.

Milloy will suggest to the capable rogue that she inspect the trap door and determine if it would be safe to open.

Harsk breaks his long silence, "Aye, Milloy - this is a temple of Irori. An' that mosaic there on the floor? That's a symbol of Irori known as the Master's Rebus."

Harsk waits for the all clear from Alice before heading down the trap door.


The Flaxseed Pathfinder Lodge

Alice gives the all-clear and the party moves down the trap door, finding that the tunnel beneath moves to the east. The party emerges from another trap door leading back up to the main floor.

The dusty chamber above has walls painted with fading frescoes of monks engaged in acts of acrobatic prowess. At the room's eastern corner is a high-backed stone chair. On the chair sits a mummified figure clad in white robes with a braid of black hair circling its neck like an adornment.

As you enter the room the mummified figure simply looks up with dead eyes and holds up his right hand, signalling you to halt. After you have stopped, the mummy stands and whispers, "I, Kanjougas, know not your convictions. I must know whether you possess the aptitude to close the Dark Window."

He looks to be entering a fighting stance.

Harsk takes hold of his holy symbol and calls out, "Torag! Protect your servant Kurth in our struggle!" With that, Kurth is surrounded by an aura, allowing him to share his damage taken with the dwarf.

Cast shield other on Kurth. Harsk will take half of Kurth's damage.

Alice's arrows fail to pierce the tough hide of the Iroran monk. Harsk protects Kurth to prepare for battle and Maffei fires a shadowy missile at the mummy.

The mummy moves up to Kurth and delivers an expert kick.

Also, Kurth - I forgot that you get a +1 deflection bonus to AC and +1 to saves from shield other (not that the AC bonus did you any good). But yeah - 18 points damage to each of us from that hit.

Alice puts another arrow in the mummy and Kurth lands a good blow. Milloy hits the monk with his ball of fire but the wizard's rays of fire only scorch the walls. Harsk hits the mummy but finds that he did not hurt it at all.

Milloy uses his Flaming Sphere: 3d6 ⇒ (6, 4, 4) = 14 again, though the fire looks to be losing its staying power. This is round 4 of 5. Milloy then steps back again and elects to cast Magic Missile!: 3d4 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (1, 4, 3) + 3 + 2 = 13 Yes, I'm casting it, not using the wand.

The mummy leaps out of the way of Milloy's fire but is not able to resist the magic missiles, which take him down! As he falls he whispers, "You are worthy...."

Milloy snickers at the fighter's comment and proceeds to examine the black key. Once he finishes he'll hand it to Alice. Might come in useful. Milloy will then cast Detect Magic and take a look around the room that the mummy was guarding.

"Wait, is he dead? I don't understand. Who are you?" Alice studies the chair the mummy was sitting on. She'll also hang on to the key.

Milloy detects no magic in the room beyond what the monk mummy had on him.

Harsk gathers up the other items. "Ya got one o' these belts of strength already, Kurth? If not, take this. Otherwise, I'll carry this in my pack."

The dwarf blinks a little at Alice's question, "Oh dearie - I'm Harsk. That there's Kurth and Milloy's the one with the pointy ears. I think the dead one said his name was Kanga-something." The dwarf taps the dead body to add emphasis. He then Offers up a quick prayer.

"Heal us, Torag!"

Milloy will suggest the party finish exploring this area of the building and move on toward the southern passage, allowing Alice to lead the way.


The Flaxseed Pathfinder Lodge

The party moves along to a pair of double doors at the end of the southern corridor, finding narrow pillars painted blue and gold supporting the ceiling in this shrine. At its west end is a large statue in a mother-of-pearl-lined niche. The figure sits in the lotus position, hands clasped and eyes closed in prayer.

DC 18 KN (religion):
This is one of Irori's serenity halls.

DC 16 Spellcraft with Detect Magic:
A lawful creature who sits and meditates before the statue for 3 minutes gains the effects of a bless spell for 6 hours.

Harsk stands back up and stretches. "Well then, that felt good. What say we check out what is behind this door here?" Harsk moves to one of the doors on the southern wall.

Harsk leads the way into a quiet, open-air courtyard that has been lovingly tended. Small purple berries grow on the nine plants in the middle of the area. A small brass bowl sits near one of the bushes, a few bright berries within it.
