GM Elberion |
Verathis, does that include -4 for firing into melee?
Grel Veldgott |
FYI, i'm in cabo saturday to sunday. I'll do my best to maintain 1/day but please bot me if i'm unresponsive for longer than that.
GM Elberion |
Hopefully Johnny will post soon, if not I will bot.
Johnny Sniper |
Johnny will move into a better position and shoot hit: 5 - 4 + 1d20 ⇒ 5 - 4 + (7) = 8 firing into melee dmg: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
GM Elberion |
If I could hand out free feats, I'd totally give Johnny Precise Shot!
GM Elberion |
Creepy little guy now, then everyone again (unless he TPKs you in one round... seems unlikely but you never know :D)
The creature tries to slip inside Harada's reach
acrobatics: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11
but stumbles clumsily and exposes itself to Grel and Harada's blows.
Grel and Harada both get attacks of opportunity.
GM Elberion |
The creature dances around every blow, before leaping gracefully into the air over Verathis' icy ray.
For a split second, at the apex of its leap, it seems to sit in the air...
In that moment, Harada's hammer hits the creature to so hard into the wall behind it that it bounces back into The Hammer's weapon a second time.
A bundle of kitchen knives clatter to the floor as a bundle of rags and goop and teeth falls beside them.
Enemy is very dead, end of combat. I just realised that the kitchen door is open, so I have revealed that on the map.
Within, scratches and dark stains cover nearly every surface in this spacious living room. To the east, paintings and other once fine objects give fuel to a fire roaring in the hearth. Bent, broken, and bloody cutlery juts at odd angles from the table in the center of the room. Books lie scattered in heaps next to broken shelves, and shards of shattered dishes spill forth from their cabinets. An open door to the west looks into the filthy kitchen, and stairs to the southwest lead up to the next floor. Tiny bloody footprints cover the stairs, heading in both directions.
Carson Stevenson |
Do the stairs go up or down?
Carson winches as the creature impacts the wall.
Glad he is on my side!
Turning around he looks around the stairwell to see if anything is coming.
Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12
Grel Veldgott |
yes! You manage that cold iron well, Harada.
Grel follows into the other areas of the house.
perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23
GM Elberion |
Carson does not sense anything heading their way.
can we have perception checks whenever characters are 'looking' or 'searching', just to save pbp time in case they're needed. Like now: Verathis and Ink, perception please.
GrelWhere are you checking out? The stairwell with Grel, the kitchen with Ink, or some other feature of the room? Let's not waste a 23
Verathis Adrazek |
perception: 1d20 ⇒ 20
knowledge(planes): 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (2) + 10 = 12
heal: 1d20 ⇒ 12
Verathis roots around in the corps, if there is enough to call it that, looking for traces of demonic coruption but alert for any other anomoly.
I also cast detect magic and see what auras are kicking around.
GM Elberion |
Okay, so the book contradicts itself, which got me all confused, so... the kitchen door is described as being opened but must be closed because it is trapped. So, I'm going to resolve this by having Grel's more-than-good-enough perception spot the trap.
Grel spots a trap in the doorway to the kitchen: a clumsy construction with a kitchen cleaver, fishing wire and a counter-weight.
Also, the kitchen is gross: The smell of rotting food and stagnan water rises from the filth in this small kitchen, mixing sickeningly with the strong, coppery scent of fresh blood. Broken jugs, upturned trays, and scraps of food litter the room. In the sink, a large bowl filled with chewed and spat-out food floats in thick, bloody water in the sink. An open door to the south reveals a ransacked pantry.
And Spirit Sense reveals nothing.
GM Elberion |
Verathis finds a few drops of Demon's Bile in the homonculus-goop and a trace of transmutation magic consistent with crafting a minor construct.
Grel Veldgott |
Grel looks over the door and through the cracks. Careful, friends. A crude trap sits on the other side of the door. Anyone with the skill to disarm it?
Carson Stevenson |
"Grel, you should be able to do it. If nothing else just smash it."
Carson then moves quietly down/up the stairs looking for traps and clues.
For the landing
Stealth: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27
TrapFinding: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12
Percepiton for clues: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16
For the stairs
Stealth: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11
TrapFinding: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16
Percepiton for clues: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12
GM Elberion |
As I've already declared the door open, let's say you can bypass the trap now you know it's there.
Moving cautiously up the stairs, Carson finds no traps or clues beyond blood-stained footprints of the wee monster. upstairs map and description coming soon
GM Elberion |
Bloody stains dot the upstairs carpet and you can see simple corridors and three doors see map, slide 2 is upstairs.
The door to the NW is open, the other two are closed.
All is quiet and still.
Johnny Sniper |
Since all is quiet, Jhonny will be quiet back. stealth: 3 + 1d20 ⇒ 3 + (1) = 4 as he travels along with the group.
Verathis Adrazek |
"Anything of note in here?"asks Verathis as he steps into the room past Grel.
Knowledge(Arcana): 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (10) + 12 = 22
Is the food thing in the sink ritualistic, or just gross. also I keep concentrating on detect magic.
GM Elberion |
Ink finds that the pantry has been stripped bare, while Verathis is confronted by an absolutely foul slurry in the sink.
Verathis, DC12 fort save to avoid being sickened by the stench.
Verathis, no magical auras.
GM Elberion |
I thought Harada was on the landing upstairs?
GM Elberion |
Harada's shout echoes through the silent house.
GM Elberion |
Harada sees a storeroom and adjecent washroom:
The shelves in this storeroom have been ripped off the wall and lie in a heap on the floor, along with their now-wrecked former contents—bloody linens, a broken broom, and other ruined household supplies. Past the storeroom is a tidy washroom that appears oddly untouched by the surrounding messy chaos.
As he steps over the threshold, a small creak in the floorboard triggers the mirror to fall from the bathroom wall, revealing a nasty, scrawled message written in blood in a childlike hand: “You know nothing! You ruined everything! Your friends hate you! I HATE YOU!”
The sound of the smashing mirror also echoes through the house.
GM Elberion |
Johnny Sniper |
Johnny is upstairs since everyone else is, as he'd rather not split the party. perception: 6 + 1d20 ⇒ 6 + (12) = 18
Verathis Adrazek |
Verathis steps into the room. He reads the message and contemplates it for a second. Then he sighs and comments "I really hope that's the demon bile talking and those kids aren't in the hands of someone this angry and self loathing. Ugh.
Perception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 = 15
GM Elberion |
Botting for speed
Grel joins the rest of the group upstairs.
Two doors left: north or south?
Carson Stevenson |
Carson goes and check out the message as Harada heads down the hall.
"Someone has lost it."
He check out the rest of the room for clues.
Clue Gathering: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6
Even if they wrote "Clue Here" in blood I missed it.
GM Elberion |
Harada prods the door and it swings open easily to reveal a familiar carnage. Inside this large bedroom is full of upturned furniture and decorations knocked from the shelves and walls. Every painting has been smashed from its frame and torn to pieces. Sitting on the otherwise-undisturbed master bed is a single journal.
