GM Brunoreturns |

"The mistress and her goblins. Nobody else likes going in there, the place smells horrible and has sewage running through the whole thing.
I'm glad she never asked us to stand guard inside."

Celia Hillore |

Paëral shrugs to his companions. "It must be Natalya...but why would she be in league with Goblins?"
Celia raises her sword and comes down hard pommel first on the back to f the thug’s neck. The thug collapses under the blow unconscious. Celia looks up to Paeral, Does it matter what sort of unconscionable creatures this woman hangs out with? If she’s in there then our mission leads us to follow no? Celia nudges the collapses man with her foot. We’ll leave this one for the garbage collectors, let’s move on our quarry before they’ve more time to prepare! Celia’s excitement is palpable.
note: I know the the thug isn’t necessarily helpless I’m just doing this for flavor sake because I believe this current battle is over and it doesn’t matter much what happens to the thug.

GM Brunoreturns |

The thug collapses in a heap. The other thug screeches in surprise and involuntarily pulls against the restraining claw of Ulyi.

Backalley Barkot |

"Yeah, er, so ya weren't here yet when I sent in da rat, right? Jest be careful - dere ain't much of a floor inside da door - meanin' none."

![]() |

Ulyi looks to Squint. Squint shrugs.
The eidolon sighs and growls at the cowering thug.
"Run," Ulyi purrs. "Run quickly and run far. If I see you in Magnimar again, I will eat you."
Ulyi releases the thug and watches him scamper off.
"I hope he doesn't have friends," Ulyi mutters as she watches him go.

GM Brunoreturns |

Green quickly runs off into the streets, muttering thanks to any gods whose names he can remember.
One thug lies unconscious in the street, while three light crossbows, two morningstars, and one light wooden shield lie discarded on the street.
The door to the shed where they were stationed remains open, while the door to the boarding house is currently closed.

GM Brunoreturns |

Light filtering through the boarded up windows and open door reveal a floor littered with fresh garbage, discarded food, and other signs of recent occupation.
It appears the guards have been spending most of their time here in the shed for the past few days.
There is nothing else of interest.

GM Brunoreturns |

For expediency, I moved everyone to Slide 4. Paeral is currently situated in front of the shed, while others are milling about outside.

![]() |

Paëral moves on to the door, looking it over...if locked he'll attempt to pick it...
Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10
Disable Device: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (20) + 10 = 30

GM Brunoreturns |

The door is neither trapped nor locked.
Paeral opens the door and looks inside.
The entire floor of this chamber has collapsed into the pool of water five feet below. The earthen walls of this flooded subcellar ooze with foul rivulets, and the smell is abominable. Two oozing sewer pipes protrude through the east wall of this pit just above the level of the sewage. Part of the ceiling above the entrance has collapsed, revealing an attic crawlspace above; a rickety ladder leads up from the water into the crawlspace. A door stands in the far wall across the sludge pit. A wooden plank balanced between both doors makes a precarious bridge between the two doors.

Reillana Myerishil |

Reillana hisses at the smell as she peers over Paeral's shoulder, though her mask mitigates the worst of it. "Ugh, this is vile! Why would anyone choose to dwell here?"
Still, the group has a job to do so she murmurs the words of a spell to pick out magical auras and scans the room.
Cast Detect Magic. Looks like there's no way into the rest of the structure from the room we're looking at now?

![]() |

Squint frowns at the situation, then sighs and picks up one of the discarded morningstars.
"It smells like bilge and black water," Squint offers. He turns to Ulyi. "We might as---"
Ulyi interrupts him.

![]() |

"If you think that I am headed in that latrine, then I fear that you are more demented than I previously thought," Ulyi pronounces with finality. "I shall watch for trouble out here."

![]() |

Squint turns back to the rest of the group with a shrug.
"Ulyi can be pretty determined when their mind has been made up. Why don't I dismiss you so I can make use of my powers for---?"

![]() |

With a puff of chilled air, the eidolon disappears.
Squint turns to the rest of the party.
"I can summon various other creatures to aid us if we need."
He unhooks his sling from his belt and heaves a big sigh.
"Ready?"

Backalley Barkot |

Barkot picks up one of the discarded morningstars, swings it around a few times to test its balance, and hangs it on his belt with a shrug.
"Anybody want any o' dis stuff? Mebbe we should stick anyt'in' we ain't gonna use in da shed, so's we c'n grab it later. I know a guy who pays decent coin fer weapons an' armor dat ya might find jest layin' aroun' after a fight."
Moving to the front door - we should move our tokens to the door at the upper right, correct?
Barkot feels an uncomfortable sense of deja vu, as he sees -- and smells -- the floorless room for the second time, but the first time with his own eyes (and nose). "Yeah, pretty much like I saw it. Dat board held da rat. Ya t'ink it's gonna hold us?"

GM Brunoreturns |

@Reillana The door you were looking in was the shed. Paeral had already moved on to the front door of the boarding house, but hadn't moved his token. No, there is no entry from the shed into the boarding house.
There are no magical auras

Celia Hillore |

"Anybody want any o' dis stuff? Mebbe we should stick anyt'in' we ain't gonna use in da shed, so's we c'n grab it later. I know a guy who pays decent coin fer weapons an' armor dat ya might find jest layin' aroun' after a fight."
Celia raises an eye at the half orc, then shrugs bending down and retrieving a morning star of her own, then hooking it on to her weapons belt. I'm not worried about the weapons...In this area the street whelps will make off with anything we stash as soon as we leave. Celia looks around at the open windows and the darkened alleys searching for the probing eyes she knows are watching. Keep what you want leave the rest. Otherwise it might invite curious eyes to investigate our doings further.
Celia saddles up next to Paëral and whispers, Nothing dangerous so far?*wink* nudging Paëral with a gentle playful elbow, while at looking suspiciously at the plank. Lead the way faithful elf, I'll be right behind you. Says Celia as she reaches in her pack for a light source.
Celia keeps her sword drawn while activating a sunrod and holding it in her other hand. Celia will allow one 5ft empty space between her and Paëral otherwise she follows directly behind him. When Paëral moves please move Celia accordingly (anyone can move my pawn thx) Celia will also follow Paëral across the plank if he determines it's safe.

Reillana Myerishil |

"Well if there's any magic it's deeper inside," Reillana remarks, eying the plank dubiously and carefully testing her weight on it with one foot.

GM Brunoreturns |

The plank seems sturdy enough. 8 inches wide. It will require a DC10 Acrobatics check to attempt crossing
There are multiple possible ways to attempt this unusual situation, so I am not prodding the party along. Probably many others that I can't think of. Once someone decides to enter, just describe what you are doing, please

Backalley Barkot |

After Celia's comment and before moving to the front door:
Barkot shrugs at Celia's dismissal of his idea. "So if dey're gone when we come back, dey're gone. Ain't gonna cost us nuthin to chuck 'em into da shed an' close da door."
Barkot picks up the crossbows and shield, tosses them into the shed, piles some of the refuse on top of them, shuts the door carefully, and heads over to the front of the house. As he passes the unconscious thug, he bends down and unhooks the quiver of crossbow bolts from the man's belt and clips it onto his own. He loads his crossbow with one of his newly-acquired bolts as he joins Paëral and the others at the door.
He holds out the rope he found earlier in the alley. "Mebbe we ought ta tie dis aroun’ each udder in case da board breaks?"

![]() |

There are no more morningstars, Celia. There were two: Squint claimed one as did Barkot.
Squint follows behind everyone. He defers at having a rope tied to his waist.
"I'll just drag you all down if and when I fall" he grimaces.

Backalley Barkot |

Better let de udders go first.
He hangs his buckler on his belt, so that it won't through off his balance, but makes no move to start across. Instead, he watches Paëral and Celia silently jockey for position to avoid going first. Once they're across - and assuming Reillana follows - he leans over to talk with Squint.
"I t'ink yer weird buddy had da right idea. Not lookin' forward ta swimming in da pond o' crap down dere." He sighs. "An' I jest had a bath, too."
Barkot gives the plank a skeptical look. "Ya wanna go first? I'm big enough I could bust up da board if I fall."

![]() |

After Paëral makes it across and draws his bow, he'll look for traps and foes...
Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20

Pouch: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (15) - 1 = 14
Previous Acrobatics checks will be allowed for crossing the plank. I will allow Paeral to open the opposite door and stand in that entrance (if he wants to, given other information the party already knows about the next room). One character may also stand in the doorway to the street. Otherwise, you are either standing on the plank, outside the building, or jump down in the pit.
The pit is 5 feet deep, and covered in a pool of sewage that will impede movement. The goblins don't seem to be impacted by the movement. Due to the angle, firing missile weapons from outside the building will be very difficult

Squint steps behind Barkot so as to see the room and calls upon his summoning powers.
Casting Summon Monster I. Because of my summoner talent, the casting time is a standard action and the monster lasts for 1 minute per level (1 minute).
POP! A celestial dolphin (named Celine) starts swimming through the sewage towards the goblin on the east wall (green), propelling its sleek silver body at the unprepared assailant!
