making a call. It is a pain to post all of this in spoiler. It's not that critical if Iodem sees this or not.
Magnhlidr Whitescale |
Now you tell us. :P
Surprise: Start unwrapping
Round 1: Finish unwrapping, draw hammer
Round 2: Draw shield, ready action to smack any goblins that come within reach.
Attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3 Ah nope.

We are in a "surprise round."
Only the little green dudes, and anyone that rolled higher than a dc 12 can act:
Shinoda didn't pass the DC and is unaware.
We're not sure where Iodem is right now.
Green dudes turn.
You see two of them stabbing out at people with their weapons.

This one stabs a lady, and she is injured pretty badly

working on it, almost done.

I have the map ready, and it is awesome and easy to put together and use! Need some emails to share with you all.
Brayden Green |
You only have a movement or standard for this surprise round zen, the goblins were standing next to people in melee, that is why they attacked.
We'll say that you move up to the closest one this round.
Magn you are up.
Magnhlidr Whitescale |
You should be able to provide just a link and those of us with a google account can access it. The link should be under the share menu.
Magnhildr begins untying the leather cord securing her hammer to her belt. She gets it about half-way untied in the time it takes Zen to get close to the goblins.
"C'mon. C'mon!"

Other green guy stabs at a nearby man
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16
He stabs him mercillesly

The man is now seriously wounded.
Kerdin is next.

Iodem was dancing with Shayliss
The screams bring him around.
however you want to rule me entering combat
He draws his longbow closing one eye and focusing over Zen's shoulder as he knocks an arrow and lets it fly.
Bugsby Featherfoot |
How do you want us to do this? Spoilered, unspoilered? Wait our turn? (takes FOREVER) Post our intended actions and let you determine if they work and if not can ask for new info or adjust as you see fit?(my preference)
Seeing the people in trouble, some of them badly hurt, Bugsby initially feels some excitement at watching a fight, but then ashamedly realizes that this are his people in trouble, and allows himself to fall more fully into the magic than he's allowed himself before. As always happens when reaching for his gift, the spark of life in every living thing becomes brighter to his eyes and he fights off the urge to become entranced by the glowing lights of life all around him. Moving close to the nearest goblin Attacking goblin at B7 while remaining as close to an ally as he can for protection, Bugsby reaching down toward the earth and grasps several of the strands of life floating before his eyes, bringing them up towards chest level. Instinctively he shapes them into a cohesive mass and then hurls that energy towards the nearby goblin. Casting Protoplasm
Brayden Green |
Iodem, we are still in the surprise round, so just stay in your same place.
You would have enough time to draw out your longbow. You will knock an arrow next turn.
Brayden Green |
Well, there are a few options. There is party turn, or there is order of importance, which is easy for fighters. Kill this dude, then this dude, then this dude.
I have heard of PbPs doing "party turn" and gathering actions as a spoiler, then making one post about what happened. Then it is "monster" turn. YOu take an average of the INIT rolls for the party and one for the monsters, with the gm adjusting where stuff doesn't work anymore, because of disappearing bad guys etc. The danger of that is that you are poo-pooing people with a wicked high INIT and making it so they could potentially never sneak damage.
Like, you wanted to bash this skeleton, well he isn't alive, so you bash that one instead.
I'm not a fan of turn by turn because of the waiting for people in different time zones, sleep schedules, all of that. So, whatever works for you. I know that I don't want to figure out all of your turns for all of you, lol. Especially all of you spellcasting people.
Ideas? suggestions? How is this going to be best for you all.
I also don't want to take over people's character and just do a "me vs me" thing. That doesn't sound fun for me, or for you all.
I wonder if party turn is the best solution, then you autobot anyone that doesn't make the "cutoff?" Or do they delay? I really don't want to have to keep track of all of your actions for every single turn. In the sense that you all give me a list for 10 possible rounds, and then I go through it all for every poster. That just seems dumb for me and you now I think about it. [/ooc]
What about if we just do a coin flip? Heads I win, tails you lose.
Kerdin |
Well, this is surprising. Woke up, took a cup of coffee, come to paizo site and find 32 post and action. I guess I need to change sleeping rhythm hee
retcon event
Thanking the small gnome for invitation and relaxing since at least he had come to know someone at least here. It has been quite boring and... well ya, lonely to be alone. Now feeling better and taking off to his sleeping place to change clothes.
forward...
Brooming his beard and taking a good look at his clothes which were not really so impressive but were enough at least for Kerdin. Smiling (giving a good look for himself and in reality would scare children) and giving a wink, Kerdin turned and picked up his waraxe. Never leave it laying around his Pop had said to him. Stepping down the stairs and coming to door, taking a deep breath of air and beginning to walk toward festival place.
current
Enjoying his time and drinking beer while watching around, the sudden appearance of goblins was mildly surprise but more like pleasant. Ay, finally some action having we har har Grapping his waraxe and looking for closest goblin to attack while trying to carefully evade other people and children to not hurt them.
Round 1:
Charge at the B2 goblin
Attack 1d20 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 5 + 2 = 17 Damage 1d10 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
Round 2:
If the goblin is still alive, continue to whack him the next round or if the goblin is dead, attack the B4 goblin-> move to B3 (provoking AoO I would say):
Attack 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17 Damage 1d10 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13
Brayden Green |
other green dude shifts towards the man that was just stabbed.
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22 and threatens
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13 and confirms
1d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
1d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
1d4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
The man falls into the pile of green men, unconscious, and bleeding profusely.

Start of Round 1, everyone is acting. Post your attacks/spells whatever to me in spoiler format. Also post to me your overall intention of the combat:
etc etc and then I can move you into the best position possible. We'll try that out, I think it'll be much smoother than the current status quo free for all, and waiting on people, etc.)
If you already sent me your desired action, send me again so I don't have to look through all the criss cross of posts.
We will resolve round 1 @ 12pm MST, 3 hours from now, or sooner if all actions are banked and ready to go.

Protoplasm (Sp): At 1st level, you can create a ball of entropic protoplasm and hurl it at targets within 30 feet. This protoplasm acts as a tanglefoot bag that also inflicts 1 point of acid damage per round to a creature entangled by it. The protoplasm dissolves within 1d3 rounds. You may use this ability a number of times per day equal to 3 + your Charisma modifier.

She rushes forward to the man's side and says a silent prayer to Torag to protect the man's life as she places her hand on his back.
Sacred touch, automatically stabilizes the person she touches.

We have everyone but Shinoda. I believe that he is "watching" this combat to see how it is done, and plans on jumping in. I'll roll for him and get his turn off too.
Shinoda's turn.
He gets his longbow out, and notches an arrow at the closest green creature.1d20 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8 (firing into melee) In his haste to fire in the pandemonium, and with his care to not hit the surrounding he misses his target.
Iodem
Iodem very distraught at what he has just seen draws and knocks one arrow while calmly moving forward to the side of Bugsby. Iodem drops to knee to get more accuracy. His arrow flies deftly into the throat of the goblin, dropping it into a puddle of blood.
Also, I rule kneeling as a free action, and standing up as a move action, I will give this next standing up as a freebie cause you didn't know that, but in the future it will be ruled as such. Nice SHOT!
green dude#1
Moves at Kerdin and takes a stab, connecting with his stab.
1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20
green dude (purple one)
He stays where he is and attacks the lady rushing at him. poking in front of him, missing completely.
1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
Zen
Returns the favor with her staff, but landing true with her blow. The green thing gets "bonked" and screeches out.
Magnhildr, seeing a person viciously stabbed twice, and close to death runs forward and touches him, he somehow stops gushing blood, amazingly.
Bugsby
Seeing the people in trouble, some of them badly hurt, Bugsby initially feels some excitement at watching a fight, but then ashamedly realizes that this are his people in trouble, and allows himself to fall more fully into the magic than he's allowed himself before. Looking towards the battle-scarred dwarf, "I hope the other guys looked worse off than you Kerdin!" As always happens when reaching for his gift, the spark of life in every living thing becomes brighter to his eyes and he fights off the urge to become entranced by the glowing lights of life all around him.
Bugsby reaching down toward the earth and grasps several of the 'life strands' floating before his eyes, bringing them up towards chest level. Instinctively he shapes them into a cohesive mass and then hurls that energy towards the nearby goblin. The goblin looks fixed to the spot and struggles to move.
green dude - bleeds on the ground
Kerdin -
He swings at the green dude in front of him. Landing a might blow with his axe, lodging it deep in the collarbone and sending it collapsing in a splash of blood.
green dude (orange)
Stabs at the monk in front of it, connecting.

Bugsby Featherfoot |
Bugsby watches in wonder as the energies he released cover and hinder the little green man-thing, "Well how about that!" His elation is heightened when two of the little fiends fall, and then tempered as his friends are struck by viscous blows. "The one with the goo should be severely hindered, finish it off! What are these things!?
An entangled creature takes a –2 penalty on attack rolls and a –4 penalty to Dexterity and must make a DC 15 Reflex save or be glued to the floor, unable to move.

- Mage Armor (Use intelligently, on companions it'll actually boost the AC of, or on himself if being engaged in melee)
- Daze
- Acid Splash if no opportunities to BC or B/D (battlefield control or buff/debuff)
Looking for another target, Bugsby decides the gooey one should be quickly dispatched by his friends and turns his attention to the other one. Having already performed this 'trick' while entertaining a crowd, Bugsby is much less distracted as he moves to get a clear shot (where-ever that might be, cough cough, GM) at the targeted green man-ling. While moving there he snatches a handful of glowing energy from the air, and rubbing it briskly between his hands, lastly bringing his hands before his face, palms together, and then opening the hands while simultaneously moving them to press against his face. The necessary motions completed, with a mumbled directive he tosses the energy at the face of the wicked little thing. Casting Daze

If you wish to say things like "thus one is mine!" Or " there is something in the corner" just say that out loud, in non spoiler fashion, i don't want your conversation during battle to be cut off.
I also don't want a pow wow before everything either. The one or two sentences as a free are fine, and should be used whenever all appropriate.

Brayden Green |
Shinoda:
1d20 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Shinoda pulls his bow back and fires at the green guy again. The green guy sees it coming and dances out of the way.
Iodem
Still kneeling, Iodem continues the motion from letting the arrow fly; bringing his hand back around to the quiver. In a fluid manner he draws another arrow using the index finger of his bow hand to guide as he knocks and draws the bow back. He sees the green guy go down and turns slightly to the left never losing focus and letting loose.
His arrow connects, and the green creature in front of Zen drops to the floor.
Zen dives to the other side of the guy, and as he does, the green creature swings, and misses 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16.
Magnhildr steps up and draws her shield and gets her weapon ready.
Bugsby
Looking for another target, Bugsby decides the gooey one should be quickly dispatched by his friends and turns his attention to the other one. Having already performed this 'trick' while entertaining a crowd, Bugsby is much less distracted as he moves to get a clear shot at the targeted green man-ling. While moving there he snatches a handful of glowing energy from the air, and rubbing it briskly between his hands, lastly bringing his hands before his face, palms together, and then opening the hands while simultaneously moving them to press against his face. The necessary motions completed, with a mumbled directive he tosses the energy at the face of the wicked little thing
green dude
As he does so, the green things eyes go big, and it says - in common - "OOOOH. SHINY!" (I had to throw that in there.) And has a dazed look on its face, and just stares straight ahead.
Kerdin
Grinning and satisfaction spreading to his face Well damn, this is more like it. I hav´ be thinking that might be good time to pulverize some goblin noting to Goblin front of him while taking fast 5 ft step to flank with Zen and viciously slashes with his Waraxe towards goblin

Well done. I need perception checks from everyone. Also, I mowed the backyard weed patch, and have wicked bad allergies now, so I'm out for tonight.
So yeah, perception rolls.
Magnhlidr Whitescale |
Perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
Magnhildr kneels down to heal the man she had stabilized. turning Shield of Faith to CLW 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
"Mend the wounds
Patch the skin
So that you may rise again."
As she stands she pulls her hammer free.
"I doubt that there was only four of them causing this ruckus. Keep your eyes open and smack anything green, short, and laughing like a maniac."
Zen Al'Shear |
Perception 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27
I believe you may be correct. We may yet have need of that wicked looking hammer yet Magnhlidr. Keep it close by.
Looking around Is everyone okay. Did anyone else get hit or was it just me?
Now I get the good rolls
Brayden Green |
A) didn't mean to put "he" for zen. That is a typo.
B) I apparently left out (my internet reset and had to restart half of it over again) the funny part about Zen missing the 2nd attack, and thinking That metal staff can't be done soon enough.
Bugsby Featherfoot |
Breathing heavily despite his lack of direct danger, Bugsby looks around, blinking as if to clear his eyes as he relunctantly let's go of the magic, the glowing lights fading and the world returning to its normal colors. "I'm fine, but I could have sworn I saw both you and Kerdin take hits... look at the teeth on these things!" Bugsby moves up next to a fallen green thing, unabashedly pulling its lips back, its eyelids, examining its claws and primitive garb. "What are these things?
you haven't called them goblins yet, and I can only assume its because they aren't common knowledge to us?
Standing he tries to yell above the fear of the crowd, "People! We may be under attack! Someone open the Cathedral! We can probably fit the most people in there. Sanctuary!"
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10 I forgot the temp +2 bonus to diplo... but I can't imagine that'll matter too much with that roll
Turning his attention back to the group, he heeds Magnhildr's advice and uses all his senses to scan for more screaming green devils. Sparing a look at the group he was lucky enough to be surrounded by this evening, he can't contain a small chuckle, "I bet they weren't expecting us." aaaaand queue scene, great take people! That'll make an amazing trailer! Oh wait, wrong media type. ;-)
Iodem Toby |
Iodem steps over the fallen placing his left hand around the embedded arrow and extracting the it from the throat. I'm not sure what these were or why the expected to live once assaulting a crowd. Either they are stupid or on orders.
Bugsby Featherfoot |
Seeing Iodem retrieve an arrow, "Oh does that need fixing? I occasionally help Jarvis, one of the apprentice fletchers, and can mend those things right up if needed." meta - I have **Mending** prepared as a spell which I believe can fix 'broken' arrows.
Bugsby nods, "They didn't seem overly bright, did they? But to their credit," the gnome gestures at the frightened crowd, "If we hadn't been here, the damage these four could've caused may well have increased exponentially." He looks to the direction the dead dog, and now-dead small green humanoids came from, "Plus we don't know what other damage they did on the way here. Perhaps we should investigate?" Bugsby starts to both look and feel worried at the thought of what those things were up to, or what their fellows, if any, could be up to at this very moment!
Brayden Green |
If any of you have any reason to know they are goblins, you can bring that up. My take on first level characters is that you basically just squashed a spider, or killed a rat, and that pinged you.
A knowledge nature, or knowledge local would reveal the matter though
Your perception rolls are good enough for you to notice (and smell) fire. There is one about a block away at "The White Deer" and another towards the middle of town.
Sheriff Hemlock halts you and says "Nice work! Can I count on you to help the town out? Initial reports are reporting about 30 goblins running around. We are patrolling the streets, and combating what we find, and escorting people into their homes, into safety, buy we need every hand that can lend one."
You have two options. Investigate the source of the fires, or help patrol the streets.
We are technically still in turn, as things are happening now. Every 4 sentences from here on out cumulative by the group count as a round.
Brayden Green |
Here is a map. The "WHite Deer" is #3 at the top of the map. YOu are in the open square next to the cathedral.
Bugsby Featherfoot |
I vote fire investigation, fire was pretty terrifying back in those days, left unchecked could burn down an entire city. Plus I'm will to bet there'll be more 'green-men' there to play with. :).
Bugsby nods vigorously, purple hair whipping back and forth violently, "You can count on us!" Assuming the group is ok with this rather than have all of us pledge our allegiance... to the flag... of Sandpoint and waste time/rounds in the process.
