Roasted half-elf? Sounds like a delicacy...
Orion stands at the ready, hand by his knives waiting for anyone to move threateningly towards the group.

"Okay, what's going on here? Why are you making that statue breath fire? I thought you were taking us to meet friends?" Lauranna keeps her voice level and curious-sounding, while maintaining her grip on her bardiche.

The "fire speaker" appears to slither toward the doorway. He spares a menacing look a the kobolds; focusing on their leader. "You'll pay for this treachery." With that he focuses his attention on the party.

The Flame Speaker begins casting a spell and Lauranna charges forward.
Concentration: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11
The spell fizzles as the baridiche slices into him. Staggered, he takes a five foot step backward. Shilyn has to fire cautiously to avoid hitting her companion...causing her shot to fly wide of its target. Orion's daggers suffer the same fate.

Round 2:

Amnur is momentarily chagrined when diplomacy fails and violence descends, but then he remembers his love for fighting! Pushing aside the flash of irritation that he didn't start the fun, "Yahhhharrr!!" he bellows, and dives in with waraxe drawn.
Trying to maneuver into a flanking position he seems too distracted to land a blow.

Round 1:
Lore moves forward til she is closer to being in range with her firebolt... but seeing the man surrounded by her companions she holds her fire for now.

"Sorry, Shilyn! I know better than that. I trained with a woman named Lydia, who was crippled because she kept rushing in without leaving the rear support an opening. I should take her experiences to heart"

I was going to post earlier today, but I couldn't remember his melee weapons. Lolz.
On his turn:
He moves into a flanking position if possible.
Sword attacks: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10
Sword attacks: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23

Lauranna suggests it would be wise if the fire speaker surrendered. The Fire Speaker is not wise...pulling a dagger and slashing at her ankles. (1d20 - 2 ⇒ (2) - 2 = 0)
With a sigh, Lauranna attacks 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13 and connects 1d10 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11 before the cavalry arrives. While Shilyn has difficulty finding an opening for her weapon, Orion's second sword strike causes the Fire Speaker's eyes to roll back in his head as his body slumps lifelessly to the ground.

![]() |

Watching the speaker's body slump the rest of the way to the floor, Shilyn gives a small shrug. "Well, he brought it on himself," she says as she spins on her heels and walks back to retrieve her bow.

GM Beman |

No worries....the outcome was more or less inevitable.
The fire speaker carries the ceremonial jade katana that Amara Li seeks, wearing it on his hip attached to a thin belt. Shilyn notices a secret compartment in the jade katana. Inside the compartment is a tightly-rolled document, which both serves as a letter of credit and details a trade agreement between any holder of that agreement and a group called the Way of the Kirin. The terms are written in both Tien and Kelish, and promise the holder the full support of the Way of the Kirin, along with naval and war materiel worth 50,000 gp.
1d20 + 10 ⇒ (17) + 10 = 27
1d20 - 1 ⇒ (6) - 1 = 5
1d20 ⇒ 15
1d20 ⇒ 15
1d20 + 10 ⇒ (4) + 10 = 14
1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17
The kobolds thank you for ridding them of the fire speaker and provide an "honor guard escort" out of the ancient keep. Mostly they just want you gone so that they can go back to doing kobold things.
All that remains is to decide in which order you return to the faction heads.
Trade Prince Aaqir al'Hakam
Amara Li
Major Maldris

Shilyn's eyebrow raises as she reads the document found secreted within the jade sword. "Hrm.. you know. This is quite a boon. Here are my thoughts," she says as the kobolds begin leading the party out of the ruins.
"I say we give the trade agreements to Aaquir al'Hakam. All that is, except this one. We can then return the katana to Lady Li and thus fulfill our agreements there. This trade agreement however, should only find it's way to the Major so that it can be used appropriately to help the nation itself due to the military nature of this document. Treaties are always valuable."

As they walk along Amnurs furry brows drawn down as he seems to consider Shilyns suggestion, finally raising his head. "Does anyone have any food? I've decided I'm fargin' hungry! Oh, and that seems as good a plan as any Shi."

![]() |

Stopping long enough to pull two pieces of fruit from her pack, Shilyn tosses one to Amnur. "Here you go," she says with a grin. Taking a bite, she chews for a moment before speaking. "I wonder.. should we take one of the other trade agreements and put it back in the sword so that there's an agreement there should Lady Li expect one?"

![]() |

"I agree, Shi's plan sounds good to me, too. Sorry Amnur, I have no rations left... but if someone wants to hunt, I can whip us up a passable meal while we are still in the wilderness. Though it seems to me it was a very short trip here, are you sure your hunger couldn't wait just a wee bit more til we return to teh city?"

![]() |

Amnur smiles fruitily at Lore, his mouth full, and tries to respond, but all you get it a lot of mumbling. Swallowing, and nearly choking, he finally clears his air passage, "Yeah, if she's expecting the slip o' paper there, and it's gone... But of course she may not know and nothing'll ever happen with the agreement."

![]() |

With a shrug, Shilyn takes another bite of her fruit. "Nothing was happening with the agreement in these ruins either. At least if she does expect one, she'll get one. If not, nothing lost overall."

GM Beman |

You take the trade agreements to Trade Prince Aaqir al'Hakam and he accepts them with gratitude, and then asks to see the jade katana. You offer it to him for inspection; and he immediately opens the secret compartment and removes the trade agreement within.
"How...odd." he states while disguising a pained expression. He replaces the agreement in its compartment and returns the katana to you. "Ms. Li will be...pleased." His expression turns to a small smirk as he bows and makes his exit,
Amara Li is ecstatic when she sees the katana; showering you with praise as she removes the agreement within the katana. "How...odd." she says with a similar expression as the Trade Prince. She casts a suspicious glance his way before returning her attention to you; expressing her eternal gratitude and telling you that you are always welcome within her Lantern Lodge.
Major Maldris hears of your how you handled Maurit through his contacts in the Society and visits you to congratulate your good deed. “I know it was difficult,” he says. “The undead sometimes cling to life, but they always turn to evil. This was a hard lesson that I felt you had to learn, to better serve the common good. As Pathfinders, we should always serve the common good and always fight for freedom."
Shilyn offers the Major the final trade agreement; the confused expression on his face turns to barely disguised delight as he reads its contents. He spares a glance for the Trade Prince and Amara Li and nearly bursts into laughter. He returns the document to Shilyn. "Why don't you hold on to this...it may serve you well in the near future. But lets keep its existence to ourselves for a while...shall we?" The Major salutes you and wishes you luck.
