Milo Bandersnatch |

Oh... I get it: the spiders have already moved, so I may as well aid with a Strength roll. I'll roll it here, just in case the +2 will help.
Strength Roll: 1d20 ⇒ 14

GM BrOp |

Giant Spiders: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23

![]() |

Um'bala backs away from the spider before him and throws a blast of electricity at the monstrous arachnid while he has a clear shot. The sight of such a enormous vermin attacking him causes the arc to go wide, doing little more than making the room smell of ozone.
Casting jolt at Red.
Attack, ranged touch: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
Damage, electricity: 1d3 ⇒ 2 + 1 force

Milo Bandersnatch |

The spiders are too close, so Milo opts to move and flank the purple one.
[ooc]Sorry, but since that's a 10' move, I don't get an attack, do I? I'll roll one just in case...]
Sword Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20
Sword Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 1

Standing Bear, Spirit Speaker |

Standing Bear moves forward one step and brings his weapon to bear on the red spider.
1d20 + 7 + 1 - 1 ⇒ (15) + 7 + 1 - 1 = 22
2d6 + 6 + 3 ⇒ (1, 5) + 6 + 3 = 15
"Seems it is always spiders." Bear gives a shrug as he feels the spirit fade after his blow.
-1 AC thanks to Loner

Quintus Valdemar |

Quintus will try to free Mach from the webbing.
Strength check: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (1) - 2 = -1 Welp that didn't work out so well.

GM BrOp |

Round 2
Um'bala's shot goes wide as he nearly trips over the webbing covering the stone floor. Miss
Milo has more luck, but only inflicts a superficial wound on the spider he and Petronicus are flanking. Pink spider takes 1 hp of damage.
Standing Bear brings down his earthbreaker on the spider, inflicting a grievous wound, but the creature skitters away, still clearly alive. SB hits and does 15 hp of damage to the red spider.
Quintus attempts to help Mach out of the sticky webbing, but the threads are too strong. Strength check fails.
Mach thankfully has more luck as he squirms out of the webbing. I forgot to mention that trying to free yourself with a Str check incurs a -4 penalty. Since I did forget it, I turned Mach's roll into an Escape Artist check, which succeeds! Mach still has a move action left in this round.
Petronicus tries to burst out of the webbing, but does not succeed. Obviously quite unhappy to be near so many spiders, he jumps back, cursing a blue streak. Strength check -4: 1d20 + 3 - 4 ⇒ (1) + 3 - 4 = 0, 5'-step.
The (red) spider launches itself at the Shoanti, inflicting a nasty bite on his upper thigh. Red spider attacks Standing Bear: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22, hit! Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 1, Crit confirmation on Standing Bear: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6, hit does not confirm. SB Fort save vs. poison: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9, failure, SB takes 1d2 ⇒ 1 points of Str damage, and must continue to save for the next 3 rounds until he successfully saves.
The (natural) spider skitters up to Petronicus but fails to cut through his boot leather. Natural spider attack on Petronicus: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12, Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 5, miss!
The (pink) spider bites at him as well, but he blocks its attack with the haft of his polearm. Pink spider attack on Petronicus: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6, Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 1
The (green) spider attacks Milo Green spider attacks Milo: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22, Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 1, hit! Crit confirmation: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17, Crit damage: 1d6 ⇒ 5, crit does not confirm. Milo Fort save vs. poison: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22, success!
The party is up!

Mach Star |

In that case, Mach will try to flank the Blue Spider for his Move Action in the previous round.
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (16) + 10 = 26
Round 2: Actions
Full-Round Action: Stab the Blue Spider!
Mach grimaces and starts stabbing at the spider relentlessly.
Attack 1 *Flanking?*: 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 4 + 2 = 26
Crit Confirm?: 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 4 + 2 = 11
Sneak Attack Damage: 1d6 + 1 + 2d6 ⇒ (6) + 1 + (6, 4) = 17
Attack 2 *Flanking?*: 1d20 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 3 + 2 = 15
Damage?: 1d4 + 1 + 2d6 ⇒ (3) + 1 + (6, 2) = 12

GM BrOp |

Round 2
With one wicked stab, Mach pierces the (blue) giant spider's skull, killing it instantly.
Mach, that leaves you with a move action for Round 2, since you killed it with your first blow.
Map has been updated.

![]() |

With the spider near Mach dead, Um'bala moves into the room, his hands still crackling with electricity. He lobs another bolt at one of the spiders on Milo,
Cast jolt again. Low level casters blow. :-(
Attack, Touch, in melee: 1d20 + 3 - 4 ⇒ (10) + 3 - 4 = 9
Damage: 1d3 ⇒ 1 electric, +1 force

GM BrOp |

Round 2 cont.
Um'bala targets the spider harassing Milo, but the creature is to quick and jumps aside at the last minute. Miss.
Petronicus, Standing Bear, Quintus, and Milo are up.

Petronicus Krupt |

Petronicus realizes that the webbing is not holding him as securely as he once thought. Panic still clear on his face, however, he drops his cumbersome polearm and draws his silver warhammer from its back sheathe. He swings as the nearest spider, but tries a bit too hard: his hammer arcs harmlessly over the creature's head. Power Attack w/ Combat Expertise the Pink spider: Warhammer: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12, Damage: 1d8 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14, miss.

Milo Bandersnatch |

I get that I saved, whew!, but I'm a bit unclear on the damage I took -- it's 1 HP, yes?
Milo takes another swing at Pinkie in an attempt to improve the score.
Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16
Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 6

GM BrOp |

I get that I saved, whew!, but I'm a bit unclear on the damage I took -- it's 1 HP, yes?
Milo takes another swing at Pinkie in an attempt to improve the score.
Yes, 1 hp. Once you make a save, you don't have to make any more against the poison. If you don't, you have to continue making saves every round until you succeed (max 4 rounds).
Milo stabs at the spider challenging him and lands a telling blow on the creature's chelicera.
Quintus, Standing Bear are up, with Mach still owed a move action.

Quintus Valdemar |

Quintus next to Krupt decides to try his luck with this spider web.
Strength check to break the web: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (16) - 2 = 14

GM BrOp |

With a mighty heave, Quintus rips off the webs entangling Petronicus.
That just leaves Standing Bear.

GM BrOp |

ROUND 2-3
Standing Bear moves to get a bit more room to swing his earthbreaker, but accidentally hits one of the columns, throwing off his attack.
Earthbreaker attack on red spider- Loner: 1d20 + 7 - 1 ⇒ (4) + 7 - 1 = 10, Damage: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (3, 2) + 6 = 11, miss. Continued Fort save vs. Poison: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23, success! Standing Bear takes no more Str damage from the poison.
The (red) spider tries to bite Standing Bear, but he sidesteps the clumsy bite.
Red spider attack on SB: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5, Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 3. Miss.
The (pink) spider bites at Milo, but to no avail.
Pink spider attack on Milo: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3, Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 1. Miss.
The (green) spider then jumps at Mach, landing a nasty bite on his arm.
Green spider attack on Mach: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20, hit! Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 6, Mach takes 6 hp of damage and must make a Fort save vs. poison: Fort save: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12, failure. Mach takes 1d2 ⇒ 2 points of Str damage and must continue saving every round until he succeeds.
The party is up!

Petronicus Krupt |

Petronicus continues hammering away at the (pink) spider in front of him, although he sees out of the corner of his vision that the tiefling has been bitten.
Hope that doesn't kill the hellspawn. I thought they're supposed to be tough?
With a single smash, he obliterates the arachnid.
Attack pink spider - CE - PA: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17, damage: 1d8 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14. The pink spider is dying.

Milo Bandersnatch |

Milo takes another swing at the Pink spider in hopes of finally killing the thing.
Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14
Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 3

GM BrOp |

Pink spider is out, so I'm going to apply this to the other one.
-Posted with Wayfinder

Quintus Valdemar |

Quintus glad that his allies are now free from the webbing shifts to the side and takes a shot at the red spider next to Standing Bear by firing a small frost ray at the creature.
Touch attack: 1d20 + 3 - 4 ⇒ (5) + 3 - 4 = 4
Cold Damage: 1d3 ⇒ 3
But his ray goes far too wide instead only hitting the wall.

GM BrOp |

I had typed a post, I guess it didn't come through, sorry about that, but it's exactly what I was going to do
Luckily, you get another action this round. Standing Bear, Mach, and Um'bala are up!

Mach Star |

Fortitude Save: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7 Uh oh.
Round 3: Actions
Full-Round Action: Stab the spider!
Oh, f+$+ me.
The burning of the spider's venom isn't doing Mach's body any favours, but it's not yet enough to stop him from stabbing at the damn spider that bit him.
Sneak Attack (Flanking, STR Damage): 1d20 + 4 + 2 - 2 ⇒ (19) + 4 + 2 - 2 = 23
Crit Confirm?: 1d20 + 4 + 2 - 2 ⇒ (9) + 4 + 2 - 2 = 13
Damage: 1d6 + 2d6 ⇒ (6) + (4, 4) = 14
Crit Damage?: 1d6 ⇒ 3
Sneak Attack (Off-Hand, Flanking, STR Damage): 1d20 + 3 + 2 - 2 ⇒ (10) + 3 + 2 - 2 = 13
Damage?: 1d4 + 2d6 ⇒ (3) + (2, 5) = 10

GM BrOp |

Mach takes another: 1d2 ⇒ 1 point of Str damage
With a mighty blow, Standing Bear brings down his earthbreaker on the spider, smashing its head into a twitching mass. Across the room, Mach does the same with the spider before him, slicing at the creature and severing its legs out from under it.
Combat Over
Petronicus throws down his silver warhammer and rushes over to Mach, grabbing his arm and putting his lips to the wound where the spider bit him. He sucks hard a few times, spitting out the tiefling's blood on the ground. Heal check: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 1 = 14
Petronicus seems to have helped! Mach gets a +4 competence bonus on his next Fort save versus the ongoing poison damage.

Mach Star |

Fortitude Save (Heal!): 1d20 + 1 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 1 + 4 = 22
Mach looks at Petronicus incredulously as the Chelaxian starts sucking the spider venom out of his wound.
"...aren't you supposed to buy me dinner, first?"
Still, it definitely seems to have helped.

Petronicus Krupt |

Petronicus glares at Mach as he continues spitting out the remains of the blood still in his mouth. He collects himself moments later, and wipes his face with his sleeve.
"How unsurprising that you'd shoot off a smart comment, tiefling. The least you could do would be to say thank you."
Mach no longer suffers from the poison, although he has taken 3 points of Str damage.

Milo Bandersnatch |

As the Standing Bear kills the last giant spider Milo is moving in his direction, but when the shaman steps back from the blow he pauses. Relieved that the things are all dead and everyone bitten seems to be recovered or recovering from poison he cleans and sheathes his blade.
Hearing Mach's comment he smirks, but does not speak.

Petronicus Krupt |

Petronicus makes a noncommittal grunt at Mach's answer and continues cleaning off the cobwebs that cover most of his body.
"This stuff is damned sticky," he mutters, pulling out a dagger to scrape off the webs that won't come easily.
He then looks around the room. "Maybe these spiders had a nest of some kind. Maybe they collected some loot that might be useful."

Milo Bandersnatch |

Milo joins in searching the area, but moves to the opposite side of the room, "Quite so..."
Perception: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (9) + 11 = 20

GM BrOp |

After some careful searching, you do indeed find some discarded equipment probably left by the mites. Most looks like trash, but there is one small marble statuette of a devil or demon of some kind that is wrapped in a soft cloth sack that could probably fetch something in the Bazaar of Sails.

![]() |

Taking 10 on an Appraise nets me a 20, which is also my Knowledge (planes) to identify the fiend.
"Now that's a nice piece," the mage says as the statuette is withdrawn from the sack. "Definitely worth a pretty copper. Let me just make sure it doesn't have any residual magic auras..." He opens his arcane sight, and glances at it to see its impression upon the mystical forces all around them.
Anything pop up on a detect magic?

![]() |

Ah, one of those! Got it.
"No maker's mark on it," Um'bala says as he examines the statuette. "Maybe the artist didn't want anyone to know they were making such lascivious artwork? It's, erm, very well formed. And anatomically accurate."

Petronicus Krupt |

Petronicus walks over to Um'bala holding the statue, giving it a once-over.
"Bah, nasty demons, those. I don't know why anyone would find them attractive. You'll have a hell of a night with them and then wake up without a pecker and a soul. Don't know which is worse. That, and they can take on any form they want. You can go to sleep with a stunning seductress and wake up with a fat, old, balding guy with wrinkly bits."

Petronicus Krupt |

Sense Motive: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Petronicus' eyes grow wide at Mach's comment, and he quickly looks back and forth between the statue and the tiefling to see if there's any family resemblance. When he can't figure out if Mach was serious or not, he huffs and stalks off to pick up the weapons he dropped on the floor.
"It's time we were moving on," he states from across the room, obviously quite annoyed.

GM BrOp |

Just as a reminder, the corridor to the north looks like to goes back to the entrance to the level. The only directions you haven't tried yet are a corridor leading out of this room to the south, and the closed stone doors back in the torture chamber.

Milo Bandersnatch |

Just as a reminder, the corridor to the north looks like to goes back to the entrance to the level. The only directions you haven't tried yet are a corridor leading out of this room to the south, and the closed stone doors back in the torture chamber.
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 18
Milo hears Mach's words and the Chelaxian's reaction and sighs. "So, we should head to that cooridor to the south, no?"
He moves back to the place he has held in the exploration and as he does so passes the fighter saying in a low voice as he does so, "That was a joke, Petro. Mach was making a joke."
