Justin D'Rite aka Sluuth |
Round 3
Justin heals for 3d6 ⇒ (3, 1, 5) = 9
36/79 hp 3/6 LoH left
Justin starts with the one he has been hitting already. He swings as hard as he can.
Full attack In hands=greataxe +1; swift = LoH
hit/damage: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (6) + 13 = 191d12 + 14 ⇒ (10) + 14 = 24

bite/damage: 1d20 + 12 - 7 ⇒ (15) + 12 - 7 = 201d3 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9
Kilthan Hammerstone |
Jagdbach continues to defend Justin, per his orders, only connecting with a single claw.
Bite: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9 Miss!
Claw: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11 Miss!
Claw: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23 for 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
Kilthan snarls and says, "Lay down your weapons. I don't want to hurt you, but I will not let you kill any of my friends, least of all the paladin of the Inheritor...", planting his foot and attacking solidly to try to knock the remarkably resilient man down.
Waraxe (1st,PA): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24 for 1d10 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15
Klar (1st,PA): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24 for 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
Waraxe (2nd,PA): 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3 Miss
Klar (2nd,PA): 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13 Miss
If the guy falls, Kilthan will step in and attack the other with his iteratives, not that they're landing, but it matters for positioning.

Dryn continues to maintain her position by the cell door, not trusting the man inside to not get up, particularly after the revelation of the shapeshifter, while she takes a shot at the guard. "Are they all creepy shape-changing monsters?!"
Attack: 1d20 + 7 + 1 - 4 ⇒ (10) + 7 + 1 - 4 = 14
Damage: 1d8 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 5 + 1 = 11
Kilthan Hammerstone |
Kilthan shakes his head, "....or they've already been replaced with dopplegangers."
GM Blood |
Assuming Tobar continues to delay
The remaining guardsman grins at Kilthan's statement and takes a swing at him before stepping back and opening the door behind him. Beyond, much of the floor of this ruined chamber has given way, revealing a large stagnant pool of water below. Rusted spears and broken swords break the surface of this pool throughout the room. A framework of soggy timbers that might have once supported the floor still stands, stretching out across the void.
Attack with Longsword: 1d20 + 14 - 4 ⇒ (3) + 14 - 4 = 13
Damage: 1d8 + 13 ⇒ (8) + 13 = 21

Round 4
Aarakess continues to attempt to disable the guard:
Exil Eye Hex: -2 Saves for 9 rounds, DC19 Will reduces to 1 round (not sure if the -2 affects this save)
At the same time, Cieslx flies near the guard and breathes a cone of bright colored light at the man.
Euphoria - DC12 Fort negates <-- -2 from Hex should affect this
Anala Sahar |
(Fyi... Anala moved to A-5 (should have been B-5) in my last post. The movement was not counted and would have blocked out friend from departing, but I will roll with it.)
Round 4
Step up beside the doppel-Martel and the woman shuts the opened door. "No one said you could leave."
5-foot move to B-6, close the opened door.
Justin D'Rite aka Sluuth |
Round 4
Justin attempts to smite evil on the last opponent. He attacks with two swings of his axe and a bite.
attack/damage: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (14) + 13 = 271d12 + 14 ⇒ (4) + 14 = 18 +3 to hit/+7 damage if evil

Smite evil=swift then full attack--In hands=greataxe +1
"No door for you!"
Kilthan Hammerstone |
Kilthan says, "Jagdbach, down.", keeping his furry friend from rushing the last combattant, choosing instead to step forward and slam him into the wall with his Klar, hoping to knock him down and prevent him from escaping.
Seeing as the other one was hard to knock around, I'm hoping that the single attack is enough -- this time, because of the angle, if it's a successful slam, he's headed into a wall -- and since he can't do that, he should fall prone.
Klar: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (13) + 11 = 24 for 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
Crap. I think it's CMD 25. Sigh.

Hmmm, interesting. I thought that starting Cackle was a Standard action and maintaining it was a Move. It looks like it is just a Move, essentially you restart it each round. In that case, I will Cackle and use the Misfortune Hex, which was what I was planning on next round anyway.
Move: Cackle
Standard: Misfortune Hex - DC19 Will negates. If missed, must roll 2d20 and take the worse roll. Also, don't forget he is under and Evil Eye for -2 to saves.
Kilthan Hammerstone |
The forum ate my original post on this from 2 days ago. Hopefully, the dice are still nice to me today.
Kilthan snarls at the doppleganger, "You're a shifty one... I hate that.", and starts to swing his axe, then quickly punches out with his Klar as the beast starts to dodge. As his shield connects, he throws his weight behind it, knocking the beast into the corner. He grins as he watches it bounce back off the wall, saying, "..and things don't tend to work out well for things I hate."
Klar: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (18) + 11 = 29 for 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7

Kilthan you are probably right, but the AoO do it as well
Kilthan and Justin make sure it doesn't rise, its form shifts to a featureless grey doppelganger.
The woman, Ilya is crying in the corner of her cell, the unconscious man still lays there muttering quietly.
Combat Over!
Each doppelganger has:
mw studded leather armor, heavy steel shield, +1 longsword
Dryn'taka Devilschild |
Dryn reloads her crossbow, still not quite trusting the unconscious man, though she herself is beginning to doubt her suspicions. "Hope your okay, Justin! They looked to get you good."
As the sound of the crying woman becomes more audible now that the sound of battle has surpassed, she quietly whispers to Anala. "Oh, it almost makes me sad she's probably another one of these grey-skinned monsters planning to stab us in the back. Do you have any tricks to find out if she's telling the truth or not?"
GM Blood |
Tobar, here is what you find:
Chest 1 has a bag in it, When you pick it up, it feels rather heavy (about 15 pounds). It is empty however.
Chest 2 is empty
Chest 3 has A necklace with a blue gem, signet rings, and an embroidered sky blue cloak (matches Ilya's clothes, though these are in much better shape)
Chest 4 is empty
Chest 5 is empty
Justin D'Rite aka Sluuth |
"Empty chests? Is there some magic involved here? Maybe they hide secret compartments?" Justin prepares to hack up the empty ones with his axe to find secret chambers.
Justin adds: "I could use some healing. I prefer to save mine for combat."
Kilthan Hammerstone |
Kilthan says, "I didn't think to take speak with animals today... it's not usually my style... so I can't ask Jagdbach if they smell different." He shrugs, but then chuckles as the badger pushes against him, and says, " Well, I can ask, his grip on understanding common is very good -- I just can't be sure of his reply."
Aarakess Halcorn |
Aarakess sighs as the second doppleganger falls.
Those guys are incredibly tough. It was like they had some evil mojo in them.
Anyone who needs healing, I will use my healing hex on you --> 2d8+8 healing.
I already used it on Dryn, Justin's horse and Jagdbach.
Aarakess Halcorn |
Aarakess casts Detect Magic to try to determine whether there is anything about the bag that Tobar has.
Been real busy with RL recently, so I do no recall exactly where we got the bag.
Spellcraft(if necessary): 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (9) + 16 = 25
GM Blood |
The Bag is a Bag of Holding (Type 1)
"I'm Ilya Starmane, the daughter of one of the Magnimar's wealthiest families. My father is involved in some capacity in most of the trading between Magnimar and anywhere else. If you can free me and get me back to my father and warn him you can keep my necklace. It was a gift to me that protects me from getting sick. It was a gift from my mother after a dangerous disease was spreading many years ago out to the east somewhere. I would gladly give it to you for saving me!"
