There is a surprise round - order Breaca, Milo and Kalig.

The round 1 and subsequent order is: Breaca, Milo, Goblin 1, Goblin 2, Goblin 3, Kalig, Veryl, Horatio, Merwyn

Again, in case I confused there are three goblins in total

Combat is as simple as I can make it. You are all in range of melee combat unless you move away. You can hit any of the goblins. You can just roll and I'll randomly decide who you hit, or you can specify e.g. Goblin 1, the hurt orc etc. etc. (there is no orc btw, this is just an example!) If your chosen target dies, I'll switch it to the next available. This way you can post ahead of your alloted initiative order

As well as the dead dog, you now all notice three goblins in front of you. One is on top of the wagon, one is standing in front of you and one stands on a table full of sweet pastries. The remainder of the crowd has withdrawn, giving you all a wide berth.

Breaca doesn't hesitate, but draws her blade in one practiced, fluid motion. The blade arcs viciously through the air towards the nearest goblin...

Breaca swings her axe at the nearest goblin. It shrieks noisily as the blade just misses its neck.

Male Halfling Rogue 3

After loosing the arrow, Miro jumps down and draws his sword, running behind the one Breaca is attacking

+2 for charging and +2 for flanking

Miro lets an arrow fly. If the goblin wasn't shrieking so wildly, the arrow wouldn't have made such a mess of its skull as it entered through its mouth and exited through the top of its head. Its limp body falls to the floor like a grotesque children's toy.

Not that it mattered but I suppose the flank was for sneak attack in the surprise round?

Male Halfling Rogue 3

Yup

Kalig follows up with a mighty swing of her flail. She catches the second goblin a glancing blow - but it's enought to open up a nasty wound in its chest.

One to round one proper

First blood was not his to take on this day, but then again Veryl never cared for such things, he watched as his companions assaulted the invaders with great success, the black haired sell-sword saw this as proof that their odds for winning this battle were as good as he thought they'd be.

Seeing one of the goblins unrestrained or confronted by anyone, he rushed to it with great speed; the sounds of his boots pounding on the pavement drew the eyes of his would be target to him, but by then Veryl was already in front of him, his bastard sword raised high, and within moments he brought it down. The goblin thought it to be a simple vertical slash and hopped back, but mid-strike Veryl halted the advance and shifted the edge of the sword to a more horizontal level and spun quickly with his weapon; delivering a side attack to the goblin's back.

Just in case it was missed (or forgotten) Breaca's round was posted with her surprise round post. Rolled 15 attack. Milo killed the one she was attacking, so she will move into position against whichever is still alive and in reach.

My bad!

Breaca swings at the second goblin but like its now dead companion it manages to just evade the blade.

In moving into a position to flank the second goblin, Miro gets a little too close and the little creature swings a rusty dog-slicer in his general direction. It manages to nick his leg before Miro cleaves it skull with a tremendous blow.

Only one goblin remains and it looks stunned by the swift demise of its two comrades. But looks can be deceiving and it swings its tiny sword at Miro - the goblin-slayer - making a cut in his back.

Kalig swings forceably but misses before Veryl neatly parts the top of the goblin's body from its lower half.

Chaos has engulfed Sandpoint. As if from nowhere, goblins race everywhere, running amok and singing and slashing indiscriminately.

You have had no time to catch your breath and before you can discuss what to do next, a sudden bloom of fire grabs your attention.

You see that a group of goblins has found the cart full of fuel for the bonfire to the south of the festival grounds and have just set it on fire.

Four goblins with torches plus a female goblin with a whip advance on you.

Horatio laughs as the goblins swarm into view. "Well, I guess we know where that singing was coming from," he chuckles, sheathing his rapier. He swings his violin into place, settling it under his jaw - an almost comical image, standing proud with a fiddle as the goblins move in. In a flash, he remembers a tune from home, specifically from a tavern in which he met an Ulfen mercenary, who sang the songs of his people - and it's one of these songs he plays now, letting the bold music fill the air.

Inspire Courage ahoy! Everyone gets a +1 to attack and weapon damage rolls, and the same bonus to saving throws vs. fear and charm effects. Horatio will try to stay out of melee range for this round. And GM, the links work fine for me.

As Horatio starts to play his violin, a vivid cone of clashing colours springs forth from Merwyn’s hand. The obvious effect is for the four goblins standing close to each other to the floor, seemingly unconscious.

Breaca wades into the carnage, her blade flashing and she catches the goblin warchanter with a vicious blow to her abdomen.

The goblin responds with a crack of her whip but perhaps because of the blade cutting into her, she misses Breaca by some margin. Unfortunately, as the whip recoils, it catches Miro as he attempts to flank the goblin.

Having successfuly flanked the warchanter, Miro cuts it down from behind.

For the moment, you have four unconscious goblins that Merwyn encourages you to use to tie them up.

Kalig looks in vain for an obvious source of water, but her actions at least encourage the locals to find whatever source they can and soon many hands are put to dousing the fire.

The sight of the goblins falling unconscious caused a smile to appear on Veryl's face I thought our odds were good...but not that good He quickly turned towards Merwyn, snatched the rope from her small, and hurried to the fallen green skinned raiders. After placing them close to each other, Veryl wraps the rope around them and ends the process with what he believes is a tight knot.

Any check I have to make for tying them up?

No, since they are unconscious. DC to break out is based on your CMB

Round 3:

Breaca crouches beside her fallen foe and scans the crowd for signs of more goblins. Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12

If she doesn't see any immediate threats, she will go to assist with tying up the unconscious goblins. If there are more still attacking, she will move to intercept them.

As you finish tying up the goblins, you witness carnage and mayhem all around you. A goblin leaps off a roof in an attempt to land on a victim but misses and breaks his neck. Another goblin throws a lit torch at a fleeing mother only to have it land on another goblin and set his armour on fire.

Here and there, the sounds of battle, clanging swords, calls of support by the town guard, and shrieking and singing goblins echo through the streets, but at the festival itself, most of the citizens have fled. One or two goblins remain behind to scavenge food, and many more lie dead (along with a few unfortunate citizens). It is obvious that the main fight has moved on, especially when the sound of a loud scream and a frantic barking comes from the north.

As you follow the sound, you see in front of the White Deer, a goblin commando mounted on a goblin dog that has bravely attacked a noble and his hunting dog.

The noble cowers behind a rain barrel where he calls for help, while his dog fights against the commando. As you arrive on the scene, you’re just in time to see the goblin commando kill the dog with his horsechopper. The dog crashes dying to the ground as the commando’s goblin kin (who were themselves cowering nearby as the dog was handled) throw up a cheer and emerge from hiding.

In front of you are two groups. One is the mounted goblin and one goblin on foot. The other is four goblins on foot. None are facing you and you could use your surprise round closing the gap to get into melee range, or fire from distance (under 30 feet). Let me know which group you’ll attack if you choose one or the other.

Initiative order:
Breaca: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
Miro: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13
Kalig: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7

Horatio: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11
Merwyn: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
Goblins 10

Pure chaos savaged the once jovial streets of Sandpoint, the sounds of screams, hurried foot steps and clanging metal filled the air replacing the laughter and music that had been prevalent prior to this brutal attack. The sight of people rushing to put out the fire that had latched on to one of the buildings was now thankfully out of sight, Veryl and his companions were now to the north, staring into the beady eyes of these child sized raiders. The tall warrior sighed, the exhale of air was filled with both relief and dejection; he was glad to be away from the burning building, but was not amused by the sight of these new enemies.

Looks like the one on the mount is their boss, make him afraid and... A small wicked smile appeared on Veryl's face as he tapped his sword against the pavement to grab the attention of the mounted goblin. Once he saw that he had captured the eyes of his target, Veryl points at the goblin with his left hand and then without warning his left hand moved back to his side, as his right swinged his bastard sword savagely at the air in front of him.

Surprise Round: Intimidate check to Demoralize: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25

He probably doesn't speak a word of common, but I am guessing he knows enough of violence to understand what that meant Veryl smiled once more but this time, he made sure to bare his teeth at the supposed goblin leader, while doing his best to radiate as much aggression as he could through his hazel eyes.

Thanks for the information, Merwyn

Kalig unslings and hurls her spear at the goblin dog still chewing savagely on the guard dog. She knows the creature is only doing its master's bidding, but bring the mount down, you bring down the rider too. If successful, it could add some weight to Veryl's snarled threats.

Merwyn "summons" a massive and savage-looking "hellhound", before showing it "consuming" a "goblin" in a single bite. It then turns towards the goblins (backing up Veryl's intimidate) and slowly approaches, licking its lips.

If any of the goblins try to attack it, then it'll dodge and bark loudly (using the ghost sounds).
I assume if they tried to attack the silent image, it would count as an interaction, so they'd get a DC 19 will save to disbelieve, but if they don't spend an action to interact with it or anything, then they get no save

Taking in the scene quickly, Horatio closes the gap to the cowering noble. He positions himself on the other side of the rain barrel, fiddle and bow still in hand, facing the goblins. "Are you wounded?" he calls back over his shoulder, before beginning to play the same tune as before.

Move action to position near the noble, free action to speak, standard action to begin inspire courage. Same bonuses as before. Retroactively add +1 to Kalig's attack and damage rolls, since she moves after Horatio.

Veryl's post had my non-crunchy brain working overtime to rationalise, however I am now at peace with myself.

Miro attacks the goblin at the edge of the group of four (Goblin #4) - ending its life.

Veryl manages to attract the mounted goblin and it appears that his efforts to intimidate the creature were successful as it stares at Veryl with fear apparent in its eyes.

Horatio asks the noble if he's OK. "I think so, more shaken than actually hurt at this stage." Hortation then resumes playing his violin.

Kalig's spear hits the dog on the shoulder. It buckles under the wound and unseats its rider.

Merwyn produces a savage looking hellhound. Two of the goblins from the larger group notice it immediately (Goblins #1 and #2) and appear transfixed by the sight.

Breaca uses the time to rush forward into melee range.

Round One proper...

Female Gnome Sorcerer

Merwyn maintains the hellhound and advances it towards the goblins as a swift action, and uses ghost sound to produce a deafening bark to attract the attention of the others.

Disarray and fear ravaged the ranks of the assailants of Sandpoint; their leader was unmounted and stripped of any morale he might of had, their troops were distracted and they had even lost one of their numbers. The defenders were many steps closer to victory, but now came the hard part, keeping the advantage they had been able to swipe away from their enemies. Veryl quickly surveyed the battlefield before him; he made note of the movements of his allies and the positions of his enemies. The situation before him reminded the former guard of something Inigo taught him 'Gaining advantage in battle gives you leverage and resources that will allow you options that you couldn't even consider before, but don't be a fool, not all of these paths lead to victory! If you aren't careful you may not only lose the lead you had worked hard to acquire, you may lose the entire battle' As much as Veryl hated the man, he had to admit that he had both educated and trained him well.

The leader is on his back, I take him out now and I'll have them running scared but someone's already in his range Veryl recalled Breaca making her way to the downed goblin rider and the goblin commando Two goblins distracted by whatever Merwyn conjured, they could be easy targets Just then the bastard sword wielder remembered where Miro was, the halfling was the one who struck down the first goblin in this fight.

Going at four combatants with his injuries? Must really like living Thought Veryl sarcastically, normally he'd let someone act out their own foolish decisions and watch as these irrational choices left them with dire consequences, but this was different...having someone fall while they had the advantage could destroy their morale This isn't even the morale of a unit who've fought together before...we are talking about the morale of uncoordinated individuals Veryl knew that despite how well he thought he knew these people under calm and peaceful conditions, that they would be as unpredictable under pressure as a wounded wild animal; whether they would choose to cower away or lash out wildly was something he couldn't guess...and couldn't afford, not when they could win this battle.

Veryl rushed forward, and thanks to his long strides he was soon standing between the third goblin and Miro, he didn't look back at the rogue and was content with leaving him with the view of his cloak "There are easier ways to satisfy that death-wish" Mocked Veryl, as his eyes focused on the goblin in front of him, not caring if Miro understood what he meant or not.

Standing before the goblin, Veryl was a literal wall between him and Miro, a finely dressed one but a wall nonetheless. The goblin tried to run at this new target, but Veryl raised his foot, planted it in the goblin's face and pushed it back to where it was "If you want to lick at it some more all ya have to do is ask" The words that escaped Veryl's mouth were rougher, and not as refined as those he had been utilizing prior to facing this enemy. The double edged bastard sword shifted so its broad side faced the goblin's face and then it ran through the air to meet it. Seeing the goblin step away from the obvious attack, Veryl went at its feet with a low slash, which was also avoided but by utilizing the momentum of the failed swing the tall man raised his sword high, stepped forward and delivered a massive diagonal slash at the goblin.

Horatio swings his bow into the same hand as his violin - the left - clutching them tightly, knuckles white with stress. Damnit, he isn't cut out for this! His father's rapier sits against his thigh, the string of his shortbow tugs on his shoulder, and a braided leather whip hangs at his waist, and here he is with a fiddle of all things? He mutters a curse under his breath.

"Here, be a sport and hold these," he says to the noble, flashing a grin as he drops the contents of his left hand into his lap. "There's a town that needs saving!" With that, he draws his shortbow, aiming an arrow at one of the transfixed goblins and letting it fly.

Miro has a brief flash of satisfaction as another goblin falls to him, then as he turns to the rest of the battle his injured leg gives out on him. He drops to a knee, gritting his teeth before standing up again and seeing a goblin come at him. How much longer can I do this... And he half raises his sword, then gets cast in darkness as the shadow of Veryl falls over him, berating his recklessness while cutting him off from the chaos of battle. He allows himself to fall back to his knee, catching his breath and letting his head stop spinning as his body tries to get blood everywhere it needs to be "Ha...but it doesn't get much more glorious than this does it?" He watches the man ruthlessly battle the creatures He's better at this than I am, much better. I'm mostly getting lucky and catching them off guard.

The spear whistles in from her right, sinking into the flesh of the riding hound as Breaca's feet sped over the cobblestones towards it. Well this gets a bit easier then, is all she has time to think before she is upon the enemy. She leaps, and her hand grabs for Kalig's spear, twisting it in the beast's body and leaving a gaping wound as she sailed past, landing in a crouch with the thrown commando and the (hopefully) dead dog between her and the still standing goblin. She flashes her teeth at it.

"I would run, were I you."

And with that jabs her knife at the commando in a lightning quick thrust.

1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 191d4 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8

A lot of that was narrative for both this and past round. Round 1's action was to attack the former rider. He goes before Breaca, so I did not include any bonus for him being prone under the assumption that he will probably rise. However...

If he does try to rise, this will hopefully provoke an AoO

Kalig arms herself whilst moving to flank a goblin, and just misses the swish of his blade for her troubles. Merwyn continues to manipulate the hellhound and Breaca stabs the goblin commando in the chest. He's clearly hurt and looks incapable of reacting to your onslaught.

Round Two

"You can ask our hiding bard to sing about it later" Another goblin fell before the feet of Veryl, and he took a moment to glance about, trying to form a picture of what was going on around him; it seems that they were still faring well, and here he was with more options then he had before, but this time Veryl elected to wait in his spot and bide his time These goblins could get reinforcements, and it is best if I stay put and be ready for them The tall warrior caught the sight of the goblin with an arrow wound that was just ahead of him Of course that doesn't mean I should just stand here and do nothing Veryl kicked the corpse of the goblin that was at his feet, causing it to skid till it was in front of the disarmed goblin.

When the goblin looked at where the corpse of his friend came from, he was greeted by the sight of Veryl swinging at the air with a quick and mighty slash from his bastard sword, causing a howl of air to whisper in the ears of those who were close enough to hear.

Merwyn guards the prisoners and picks up the warchanter's ceremonial whip-weapon, which she brandishes in front of the four captured goblins. (Swift action to control the Hellhound)

"Which one of you is second in command?" Merwyn pays attention to the manner that they speak.

Like, if they all seem to look to one of them before answering, or if they hesitate or wait for one of the goblins to speak, to try to figure out their relationship to each other.

Male Human (Chelaxian) Bard 3
Quick stats:
AC 14, T12, FF12; HP 21/21; F +2, R +5, W +3 (+4 vs. bardic performance, sonic, language-dependant); CMD 14; Init +2; Perc +6; SM +5; Bardic performance 18/18 rounds remaining; Spells 1st-level 2/4 remaining

Hiding? Horatio's pride stings a little at that comment. Who did Veryl think had fired that arrow, anyway? Setting his mouth in a hard line, he fires a second arrow at the same goblin, aiming for its bulbous head.

Attack: 1d20 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 2 + 1 = 21
Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

Init +2 | AC 15 / T 12 / FF 13 | HPs 10/28 | Saves F +5 / R +5 / W +3

Seeing that the commando appears incapacitated, at least for the present, Breaca moves to flank the remaining goblin with Kalig. She seeks an opening and strikes.

1d20 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 5 + 2 = 131d4 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6

Miro continues to avoid the action, his wounds still hurting him. Veryl intimidates the remaining goblins by kicking one of their fallen comrades.

Horatio fires an arrow and manages to end the life of the goblin he'd previously hit Goblin #2. It collapses softly where it stands, like a limp rag-doll.

None of the goblins show any signs of offering resistance but the goblin-dog now barks menacingly and looks to be coming to terms with its terrible wound - and wants some payback.

Kalig, over to you
