Fort save: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14
grrr..stunned and I am at 20/28hp ATM..
Climbing up out of the pit, An is overwhelmed bu the sudden loud noise coming from the darkness. Stunned, he drops his weapon and covers his ears, trying to block out the noise.

Ooooo, what a shot!
Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 19
If Kath can determine where his enemies are using his keen senses, and perhaps the screams of pain from his comrades, he will go to the darkness and strike at a foe.

Holman attempts once more to stab at his opponent with his daggers.

GM Aarvid |

Holman stabs in the dark but fails to connect with anything or anyone.
Kath moves up and is able to hear a foe near Jacen, and stabs at the small creature blindly and takes it down.
Nguyen is stunned by the sound as he stands outside the darkness.
Morvius is likewise stunned.

August will pick up his weapon and attack the one that just struck him!
OK, now I'll use that attack.

GM Aarvid |

August picks up his weapon, provoking a pair of attacks that miss him completely.
shortsword: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7 damage : 1d4 ⇒ 4
sword: 1d20 ⇒ 7 damage : 1d3 - 1 ⇒ (2) - 1 = 1
And he brings his weapon down on his opponent with a mighty hit.

Jacen once again whips around with the blade hissing in its sinister arc taking a moment to activate arcane strike.

GM Aarvid |

@Kath - not sure if you would still have an idea of locations since you cannot see them and they moved some. Your allies are making more noise than the stealthy creatures. You can roll perception again to find a square. You could also fall into the pit ;-P

Once again, Holman attempts to stab his opponent.

Sorry I cannot move my token on the map
An takes a few steps back, and suddenly can see again. Quickly looking around, he circles the darkness to the far side where he can hear the sounds of battle. He takes a deep breath and re-enters the unnatural darkness, wielding his shortsword rather than the nodachi, for fear of the large weapon harming one of his friends.
Ok, so An will circle around and enter back into the darkness between Kath and Jacen, if possible

GM Aarvid |

Holman swings a pair of daggers in the dark again, but does not connect with his hidden foe.
Kath moves around in the dark trying to pinpoint a target but is not quite able to pinpoint the location of an enemy.
(Base DC20 + 20 to pinpoint, -20 for combat, + stealth)
Nguyen An circles around and cannot see Jacen or Kath but moves into the darkness near them.
Morvius picks up his glaive and swings at the small creature near August but misses due to the dwarf blocking part of his view.

Crap, I forgot to look at the map. I could use Cleave!
August takes a swing at the one he injured previously!
Attack: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (5) + 8 = 13 for Damage: 1d10 + 9 ⇒ (8) + 9 = 17
Ooof, doubt that hit. If it does I'll post the Cleave attack.

GM Aarvid |

August misses with a mighty swing, slamming into the ground as the humanoid moves out if the way.

GM Aarvid |

Jacen retaliates in the direction of his attacker.

speaking of negated crits...now that is funny . I guess that is just 1 pt
The small creatures stab at August, with one jabbing with precision, but not enough strength to push the dagger home for the certain kill.
Jacen dagger : 1d20 ⇒ 10 misses with its blade
16-Holman
13-Kath

8-Morvius

![]() |

I think it's one point of non-lethal damage. That is funny, though.

![]() |

Listening to the scuffle around him, An attempts to pinpoint where the enemy is and takes a tentative stab in that direction.
Attack-Melee: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25
Damage: 1d6 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8
Ah darn...will probably miss in the dark...figures we get all these good rolls now...I swear all my characters from now on will have blind fighting or dark vision...lol

![]() |

That is highly amusing. It's definitely non-lethal but I'm left wondering if it's one point or two.
Kath is just going to withdraw back towards the entrance.
Less then 50% to perceive, then 50% miss to concealment, plus a hit roll. The odds are not ever in Kath's favor.

![]() |

Should be one since I think the negative is doubled also, so its 2-2=0 for the damage.

GM Aarvid |

Kath withdraws from the darkness.
Nguyen An steps into the vacant space Perc : 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9 but cannot hear where the foes are located.
Holman and Morvius

![]() |

Sorry for the delay in posting - I had an absolutely crazy weekend, between lack of internet, lack of sleep, and excess of work, and am only now getting back to this stuff...
Again, Holman stabs with his daggers.
Attack (Dagger, TWF, Piranha Strike): 1d20 + 8 - 2 - 1 ⇒ (14) + 8 - 2 - 1 = 19

![]() |

Kath is just going to ready himself, if an enemy comes out of the darkness or if he is attacked he will attack back.
Attack: 1d20 + 7 - 1 ⇒ (9) + 7 - 1 = 15

GM Aarvid |

2d20 ⇒ (16, 3) = 19
The two smaller creatures stab uselessly at August and Jacen.
Kath readies an attack....
1d20 ⇒ 8
1d100 ⇒ 2
Nguyen An swings in the dark but does not connect with anything.
Holman and Morvius are up...

![]() |

Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (9) + 8 = 17
Holman advances and swings at a different...something...but his daggers can't seem to find a new target.
Not an action: 5' step, as indicated on map
Full-round action: Attack target (TWF)

GM Aarvid |

Holman swings in the dark to no avail.
Morvius chops the last of the small creatures by August and takes it down.

![]() |

This should look familiar...
Kath is just going to ready himself, if an enemy comes out of the darkness or if he is attacked he will attack back.
Attack: 1d20 + 7 - 1 ⇒ (7) + 7 - 1 = 13
Damage: 1d6 + 2 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 + 3 + 2 = 13
Miss: 1d100 ⇒ 8

![]() |

August will step 5' to the southwest and attack the enemy to his east!
Attack: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (18) + 8 = 26 for Damage: 1d10 + 9 ⇒ (5) + 9 = 14
He then cleaves to the southern critter!
Attack: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10 for Damage: 1d10 + 9 ⇒ (2) + 9 = 11
AC is now 18, HP still at 12.

GM Aarvid |

August chops down the second derro, but slams into the wall above the last smaller humanoid. Seeing all its allies and Derro masters down, the last mite drops its rusty dagger and raises its hands in surrender.
Out of combat
Eventually the darkness wears off and the fountain room returns to normal light again. You see five Cassomirite human slaves shackled together, huddled in the hallway.
One woman cries out...
"Oh thank you! Thank you so much for saving us from these vile creatures. You saved our lives!"

![]() |

Holman smiles broadly, "Yes, well, that's just what we do, ma'am. So, now that that's out of the way, let's just confirm: are you the engineers we've heard so much about?"

GM Aarvid |

She turns to Holman
"We are an engineer, a city planner, and masons; we were all kidnapped in the last week; and we were led to believe someone named Dalirio was going to turn us into skeletons. . " she shudders at the last part and looks faint.

![]() |

"Well, I think we can safely say that won't happen tonight. However, we were just about to find our way into Dalirio's sanctuary when you happened upon us, so let's just get you out of here, shall we?" He proceeds to work on the shackles, freeing the captives.
Disable Device (Take 10, Masterwork Tools): 10 + 10 + 2 = 22

GM Aarvid |

Holman is able to quickly unlock the crude shackles and free the captives.
They all look relieved, some sobbing.
" Oh thank you all. We just want to see our families again. Now we have that chance. Just be careful if you go further. This cult is ruthless. "
Unless there are other questions, the grateful engineers head to the surface with a look of disbelief they are still alive.

![]() |

August needs a lot more than that. He has his own wand though so we'll use the charges on that one instead.
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
So five charges off of August's wand.
Thanks Morv! Its been a rough couple of fights, but we won again, right An?
