Ernest grows back his tinyized miniature shovel and casts Spiked Pit (DC 21 Reflex to move to nearest edge square of the way, 20 feet deep at CL 5) at the casty-bad. If she's flying obviously, then he'd instead target the other gnoll.

Eadie steps back and takes two quick swings at Chau. However, the gnoll matron dodges both blows of the hammer with a smile and licks her fangs.
"Hah! It will take better than that, girl. Chau has killed hundreds of slaves like you. You will feel the bite of my blade!
Her grin stops suddenly when August slashes down hard on the hyena, dropping the beast lifeless to the stone floor.
"And you will pay for that, dwarf!
Ernest creates a pit behind the caster.

Eadie makes her index finger perform a tight spiral around her right temple to emphasise the point.

Eadie spits a couple of broken teeth and the blood that’s pooling in her mouth into the back of her great helm’s visor. But she doesn’t shut up.
“Fancy bumping into you here, Lore. Can I have some healing please?”
@GM Aarvid, I have just read the Bull Rush description in the PRD. I assume Chau has the feat Improved Bull Rush (or similar), otherwise she would have provoked twice from Eadie? (each time she made an attempt)

unless he has the feat 'bullrush strike', bullrush IS his combat action, it's a standard action, not part of another attack, so he has to choose whether to do a bull rush or an attack for damage. bull rush info but essentially it says a bull rush does no damage, just pushes target backwards.

GM Aarvid |

Yes, Chau has Imp. Shield Bash and Shield slam as well as bashing shield and some other doo-dads. Lore I could not find that anything happens to you, so I think you are just bumped. The push was not strong enough to move you.
Benefit: Any opponents hit by your shield bash are also hit with a free bull rush attack, substituting your attack roll for the combat maneuver check (see Combat). This bull rush does not provoke an attack of opportunity. Opponents who cannot move back due to a wall or other surface are knocked prone after moving the maximum possible distance. You may choose to move with your target if you are able to take a 5-foot step or to spend an action to move this turn.
So I am not sure if Eadie would be knocked prone. Lore is not quite a wall. August maybe :)
And as full disclosure, Chau did not take the second smash attack since Eadie was out of range - that is why I did the strikethrough

![]() |

Opponents who cannot move back due to a wall or other surface are knocked prone after moving the maximum possible distance.
So, Eadie ends up in Lore’s square at the end of the 10’ bull rush? Eadie can enter an ally’s square, but can’t remain there. (Gets spat out by Lore's square, maybe? ;) ) Tricky … open to GM’s interpretation I’d say. (As is everything)

GM Aarvid |

Correct. Eadie gets spat out (back to last valid space) since she cannot end in Lore's square. Map updated.

Eadie calls, “Oh, Ernest! Are you there? Chau here is keen for a practical demonstration of the benefits of studying.”

Unsure of Dwarven placement; I suppose I'll guesstimate. One square north would be optimum for my purposes.
Ernest moves 30 farther in, erring towards the south-er side of the room (positioning himself preferably in a spit that won't destroy the map if she fires another Bolt.
He'll drop another Pit (of the unspiked variety, DC 20) under her. Maybe with her square as the southwest corner of the 10x10.

What rule is that? I'd assume you could do two spells, since you could cast a quickened, then a regular spell, I think?

What rule is that? I'd assume you could do two spells, since you could cast a quickened, then a regular spell, I think?
Quickened explicitly allows itself past the 1-per-round (which is why it's suuuuuuuuper.) Looking up citation now...
http://paizo.com/pathfinderRPG/prd/combat.html#cast-a-quickened-spell-swift -action
Cast a Quickened Spell
You can cast a quickened spell (see the Quicken Spell feat), or any spell whose casting time is designated as a free or swift action, as a swift action. Only one such spell can be cast in any round, and such spells don't count toward your normal limit of one spell per round. Casting a spell as a swift action doesn't incur an attack of opportunity.
This is the only time this limitation is mentioned, I believe. EDIT: Ha ha, I guess it IS mentioned more than once!

Found it in the Magic section:
A spell with a casting time of 1 swift action doesn't count against your normal limit of one spell per round. However, you may cast such a spell only once per round. Casting a spell with a casting time of 1 swift action doesn't provoke attacks of opportunity.

Ernest interjects with a Feather Fall as an Immediate Action to prevent Captain Helpless from becoming Mortal Kombat Uppercutted-off-the-stage-into-spikes-Fatality'd. "Ah! Sorry! I'd dismiss it, but I can't!"
Iggy still takes 2d6 (possibly 8 from his first two rolled Fall damage dice, should our DM choose to simply use that or rule that it is only paired with the standard falling damage and negate it) and begins Dying again from his new damage. That's the only damage he'll be getting from that, though, since I think he has to be climbing to take any further damage.

GM Aarvid |

ok, responding in no particular order:
@August - your position was updated on the map by me.
Which actually saved him from the secondary attacks Chau had planned to take on him.
@Johendar - ok, the arrows still hit the images despite cover.
Originally I had thought you were shooting Chau and that would have caused at least one to miss.
@Ignatius - I did not realize you were going negative at that point and figured you were going to move before your turn.
But you were the only target in Full Attack range so you got the Chau-love.
Blame Eadie...she made Chau mad(der). :(
@Ernest - I thought you could cast one swift or immediate per round, on top of your standard spell per round.
I always needed that reference to the swift spells do not provoke.
I get burned by that too often.
@Iggy and Ernest- pit take falling damage as normal, plus 2d6 points of piercing damage from the spikes. But since Iggy did not "fall" onto the spikes, but came into contact, I would see only 1d6
Any creature or object coming into contact with the spikes along the walls, such as a creature trying to climb out, or rope or other typical aids to climbing, takes 1d6 points of piercing damage each round they are in contact with the walls.
