Male Goblin Fighter (Archer) 1

As the beetles burst forth Pork shouts a war cry and lets loose an arrow.

Common: "Slay them all!"

The Point Blank Shot feat gives Pork a +1 to attack at this range
Basic Ranged Attack with Longbow: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (3) + 9 = 12
Damage if hits: 1d6 ⇒ 6

Male Goblin Fighter (Archer) 1

I forgot to mention: that attack was against the red scorpion

Pork's arrow and Rois' blade are deflected by the animal's shells. Argor's spell hits the creatures dead on, but they seem unaffected.

I was waiting for Kynrael not realizing he was in full defense.

The beetle in G2 attacks Kynrael with a bite attack.

The beetle in G3, sensing the threat from Rois lets out a burst of light.

Kynrael and Rois, I need a Fortitude save vs a dazzle effect. DC13. You will be dazzled for 1d3 rounds if failed.

Updated Map

Male Goblin Fighter (Archer) 1

Cursing under his breath, Pork aims carefully and shoots another arrow at the red scorpion.

Blast it Argor! You should have known that these vermin were too feeble minded to be affected by such a spell!

Argor takes a step back to compose himself, and to put a little distance between himself and these creatures. He again mutters a short incantation, and a beam of blue light streaks forth from his extended finger, directly towards the Red Scorpion.

Taking a 5' step back to F4.
Ranged Touch Attack: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7

Male Aasimar (Angelkin) Oracle 1

Fortitude Save: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4

Kynrael is caught off guard by the beetle's burst of light. Squinting and gritting teeth, he attempts to deliver a crushing blow to the beetle directly in front of him.

Attack: 1d20 + 5 - 1 ⇒ (1) + 5 - 1 = 5
Damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6

Ugh... haha

Argor's spell goes wide, and Kynrael, disoriented from the blast of light, misses his target as well.

Pork's arrow sinks deep into the armor of the red scorpion. It hisses menacingly.

Kynrael don't forget to roll 1d3 to determine how long you are dazzled for.

Male Aasimar (Angelkin) Oracle 1

Dazzled: 1d3 ⇒ 1

Male Human Rogue (Scout) 1

Fortitude Save - 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13

Phew!

Rois shields his eyes from the burst of light. Stepping away from the beetle, he brings his blades to bear once again against the scorpion.

Rois will take a 5-Foot Step to I2 and make a full attack action against the red scorpion. I believe the scorpion should still be flat-footed, since it hasn't yet acted in initiative, so sneak attack should apply.

First Attack (Short Sword) vs. Flat-Footed - 1d20 + 4 - 2 ⇒ (10) + 4 - 2 = 12
If it hits, it deals 1d6 + 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (6) + (1) + 3 = 10 points of damage.

Second Attack (Short Sword) vs. Flat-Footed - 1d20 + 4 - 2 ⇒ (12) + 4 - 2 = 14
If it hits, it deals 1d6 + 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (1) + (4) + 1 = 6 points of damage.

Unfortunately both attacks bounce off of the scorpions carapace.

The Blue scorpion turns and attempts to sting Kynrael.

1d20 + 2 - 1 ⇒ (15) + 2 - 1 = 16

And the Red scorpion turns toward Rois and attempts to sting as well.

1d20 + 2 - 1 ⇒ (6) + 2 - 1 = 7

The red scorpions misses completely, and the blue's tail bounces harmlessly off of Kynrael's armor.

Male Human Rogue (Scout) 1

Three missed sneak attacks. Ouch.

Focus, Argor! These are nothing more than overgrown pests! Do not let them get the better of you!

Argor steadies his hand and again another blue beam flies through the air towards the red scorpion.

5 foot step to F5.
Ranged Touch Attack 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 1 = 19

Male Aasimar (Angelkin) Oracle 1

Kynrael attempts to shake off the last vestiges of the light burst and raises his hammer above his head once more, swinging towards the beetle in a wide arc.

Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19
Damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8

The Beetle in H2 is dead. The red scorpion looks like it has seen better days, but is still moving.

The beetle in I2 attempts to bite Rois.

Bite 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18

Dmg 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5

Round 2. Argor and Kynrael have already gone.

Male Goblin Fighter (Archer) 1

Seeing the battle shift in their favor, Pork tries to finish off the wounded red scorpion.

Attack vs AC: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (10) + 9 = 19
Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 2

Male Human Rogue (Scout) 1

Rois winces as the beetle's mandibles pierce his armor. He steps to the side, trying to move away from his attacker, and towards Kynrael.

5-Foot Step to H3. Rois will make a full-attack action against the blue scorpion.

+2 Flank, +1 Masterwork, +3 Strength, -2 TWF penalty

First Attack (Short Sword) vs. AC - 1d20 + 2 + 1 + 3 - 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 + 1 + 3 - 2 = 21
If it hits, the attack will deal 1d6 + 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (5) + (3) + 3 = 11 points of piercing damage.

Second Attack (Short Sword) vs. AC - 1d20 + 2 + 1 + 3 - 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 + 1 + 3 - 2 = 7
If it hits, the attack will deal 1d6 + 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (1) + (2) + 1 = 4 points of piercing damage.

The red scorpion staggers as Pork's arrow strikes it, but does not fall. However, Rois' first sword brings it down.

The blue scorpion continues its assault on Kynrael

Left Claw 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5

Right Claw 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16

The first claw misses, and Kynrael brings his shield up and deflects the second.

Male Human Rogue (Scout) 1

I was attacking the blue scorpion, actually. I didn't have flanking against the red this round.

Oops. I must have skimmed over that part. The Red beetle still stands.

The attack hit the blue beetle, but it is still standing.

I believe it is Kynrael's turn.

Got a little mixed up

The beetle takes a 5 foot step to I2 and attacks Rois.

Bite 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20

dmg 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5

Male Goblin Fighter (Archer) 1

With no clear shot at the red scorpion, Pork scampers to a new position and shoots at the blue scorpion.

Male Human Rogue (Scout) 1

Rois nearly falls, but manages to keep his feet. Desperately, he presses another attack against the blue scorpion.

Another full attack, both against the blue scorpion. If the first attack hits and manages to drop that enemy, Rois's second attack will go against the red scorpion. If that's the case, let me know, and I'll reroll.

+2 Flank, +1 Masterwork, +3 Strength, -2 TWF penalty

First Attack (Short Sword) vs. AC - 1d20 + 3 + 1 + 2 - 2 ⇒ (19) + 3 + 1 + 2 - 2 = 23

Critical threat! Roll to confirm - 1d20 + 3 + 1 + 2 - 2 ⇒ (9) + 3 + 1 + 2 - 2 = 13
If confirmed, an additional 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8 points of piercing damage.

Second Attack (Short Sword) vs. AC - 1d20 + 3 + 1 + 2 - 2 ⇒ (11) + 3 + 1 + 2 - 2 = 15
If it hits, it deals 1d6 + 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (1) + (6) + 1 = 8 points of piercing damage.

After his attacks, Rois takes a 5-Foot Step back to G4.

Argor sees the dire situation Rois is in, and makes a quick gesture with his hand, controlling an unseen force to attempt to distract or wound the blue scorpion.

Telekinetic Fist on blue scorpion. Ranged Touch 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

Assuming/Hoping that at least the Blue Scorpion has fallen; I'll just eat the AoO if not.

Kynrael notices Rois' condition, and surges forward to assist. A few whispered incantations later, he extends a hand and places it on Rois' chest. Kynrael's eyes and halo flare a bright gold momentarily, as Iomedae's mercy surges through his body and into his wounded friend.

Kynrael is moving to F4 and casting cure light wounds on Rois.

Healing: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

Rois' last ditch efforts are succesful, his first blow drops the blue scorpion to the ground, and his second takes out the red.

Argor, I assume you will have redirected your attack at the beetle, not that it matters.

The beetle once again takes a bite at Rois.

1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21

1d4 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3

I seem to be having good luck with the dice and this beetle. Not that I get any joy out of it.

Male Human Rogue (Scout) 1

Thanks for the heal! Saved me from dropping.

I want to make sure I know exactly where Kynrael and the beetle are before I declare my next action. If I could 5-Foot Step into a flank, I might go for it, but if not, I'm likely to use a Withdraw action.

Male Goblin Fighter (Archer) 1

Looks as though Kynrael decided to get comfy with Pork in square F4

Male Aasimar (Angelkin) Oracle 1

Whoops. I meant F3, clearly (yeah, smooth recovery)! Was hoping for a not-crap roll on the cure, but the dice don't seem to be agreeing with me much as of yet, hah.

Male Goblin Fighter (Archer) 1

I think I can move to I1 and shoot the beetle without provoking AoO, I am doing this now just to speed things up for when the DM gets back.

With only one monster remaining, Pork passes by Kynrael and tries to conclude the battle with a final arrow.

Move to I1
Attack vs AC: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (14) + 9 = 23

Male Goblin Fighter (Archer) 1

I forgot that Point Blank Shot adds a +1 to my damage so that should be 3 damage from the arrow, not 2.

I got back last night, but was too tired to post after the 6 hour drive.

Porks arrow lodges into the beetle, but it does not fall.

The beetle staggers, but continues to fight on.

Let me know if I'm wrong, but I believe both Rois and Kynrael can act before the beetles next turn.

Male Aasimar (Angelkin) Oracle 1

Kynrael brings his hammer around once more, stepping forward and attempting to smash the beetle's head against the ground.

5-ft step to G3, and...

Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23
Damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12

The beetle makes a disturbing splat sound as ichor spews from its head. It falls dead to the ground.

That is the end of that encounter. You gain 1,000xp or 250each.

Male Human Rogue (Scout) 1

Rois coughs and spits up some blood. "Not what I expected to come out of the door..." He sits against the fountain, and setting aside his swords, begins to gently run his fingers over his injuries. "Damn things near chewed me up. Thanks for crackin' their shells, and for the spell, Kynrael. Saved my skin."

Argor watches as Rois gets comfortable, raising an eyebrow as he does so. "I wouldn't get too comfortable, because whatever it was that released those things is still down there, and should be dealt with quickly before they can prepare themselves."

He then turns towards the entrance of the tunnel and watches/listens closely for any movement.

The halo-crown above Kynrael's head begins to waver and dissipate. He does not react in any way to what Rois says. As his breathing calms on the heels of the brief scrap that just took place, he turns to look at his wounded friend.

"Looks like that one took a liking to you, yeah?" Kynrael pokes the smashed beetle with the tip of his hammer. "Let's see if I can't do something about those nasty bites." Kynrael approaches Rois again, chanting lowly as he attempts to once more call upon Iomedae's favor.

Casting cure light wounds on Rois again: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6

What manner of fiend keeps beasts such as these for pets? Kynrael's eyes linger on the dead scorpions a moment. His gaze roams to Pork soon, however, as he says, "Fine display of marksmanship, Pork. I can see the Marshal's appraisal of your prowess was not misinformed."

Male Goblin Fighter (Archer) 1

With the fight over, Pork triumphantly drives his heel into the head of one the beetles. However, the carapace is too thick for him to crush and after a brief struggle resigns to simply denting it. Hearing Kynrael's praise, Pork folds his arms and says "Yes well, goblin bow shooters are unrivalled and I am certainly the greatest one in these parts." Something on the ground catches his eye and he notices that he is standing over the arrow that failed to hit its mark. With sidelong glances at his companions, Pork tries to pick up the arrow with no one noticing and inspects it for damage.

Rois spits. "Catchin' wind is all." He springs to his feet, then turns to Kynrael. "You have my thanks again. Now let's get down in there."

Argor:
You hear movement in the room below, but no talking. Due to a slight turn in the staircase, you see nothing.

Do you proceed down the stairs? If so, what order?

Argor will wait for Kynrael and Rois to lead the way, and probably put 5 or 10 feet between himself and them, but would not go last. He will fall no further back than Pork, so if Pork follows right behind, he will do the same to prevent himself being the last in line.

Male Human Rogue (Scout) 1

Rois grabs a handful of dried grass from amongst the ruin stone. With flint and steel, he sets the grass tips afire, and uses them to light his lantern. "Can't speak of the manner of the creatures below, or what traps they may have laid. Keep your eyes wide."

With that, he steps through the darkened doorway, and steps carefully, pausing frequently to look for any irregularities in the walls and floor.

Rois has a bullseye lantern, which casts light in a 60 foot cone in front of him. He keeps it pointed low, at the steps in front of him. I figure he is moving at the front of the party, though not further than 20 feet. At this point, sneaking up on the enemy is probably impossible, so he's in front mostly to spot traps and/or ambushes. All the same, he tries to keep his footfalls quiet.

Perception - 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26 with an additional +1 to spot traps.
