If we sell everything (assuming a) we get full price for the non-magical stuff, as art objects, aside from the incense b) nothing for the spellwells and c) we keep the golem amulet and the unguents of timelessness) I end up with 116140 gp.

2 Cloaks of resistance +5 (Abo, Spug), 3 lucky horseshoes (Abo, Spug, Grergof), 3 cracked pale green Ioun stones (Abo, Spug, Grergof) is 82400gp. That should help. Anybody else got stuff to buy? Some sort of to-hit booster for Atua (and/or maybe an adamantine weapon)?

The spellwells are not sellable as spell wells, but if you rip off the chairs you got skymetal at hand, which is rather expensive.

Don't know if skymetals are light, or heavy, so lets say 15 lbs per chair.

Ok, as mentioned, I can handle the air breathing - I plan on memorizing 2 life bubbles - and those should last us 6 hrs apiece. I will also have a water breathing as backup..

Movement though - Grergof has his ring of free action. I can prepare free swim (3ed level) or free action (4th level) which allow unhindered movement underwater but I have nothing to give people swim speeds... What do you have Spugnoir? Do we need to add some formulae to your book? We have money.

@Foxy - What is the effect of a fly speed, combined with a freedom of movement type effect, when underwater?

Flying says nothing about the environment it works in, so there is no reason for me to assume you can't fly underwater. Which would reduce the speed to a quarter of your out of water speed. The reduction is eliminated by the freedom of movement.

No healing, the 56 on the second one was Atua's lava bolt but that wasn't actually targeted on it... so Foxy moved it to the one you just finished off.

They seem difficult ish to hit (25 < AC < 36), and at least somewhat resistant...

The whole phrase is copied out of the spell description. It's the last two sentences from the core rule book. Page 248.

And if you think about it, it would ruin the whole thing if it worked. A binding is specifically tying a creature to a place that it can't get away by any means. And then you'd allow a 700gp dismissal scroll that you can UMD with take 20 and the creature is gone?

Ok, I see where we are getting crossed up. I was referring to Planar Binding (and Lesser and Greater), the wizard spells to bind an outsider to service. Such a spell is not dispellable as it's duration is instantaneous. However it offers no special protection against dismissal, banishment, and so forth. You are referring to the Binding spell, which is a generalized trap a creature spell (and does specifically protect against such spells as Dismissal).

If Xin used Binding to physically trap the demon here (presumably the hedged prison variant), what is compelling it to be a guardian to keep thieves out of Xin's Abysium vault (and not try to eat him when he comes to get some for a project)?

I have no clue, but the planar ally spell reads: Once the requested service is completed, the creature need only to inform you to be instantly sent back whence it came. The creature might later seek revenge. If you assign some open-ended task that the creature cannot complete through its own actions, the spell remains in effect for a maximum of 1 day per caster level, ... so it's definitely not that.

You can also add additional spells on top of that binding, so maybe Wish? For not getting eaten being the mightiest wizard alive at that time with proper contigencies against almost all attempts at his life is enough for any sane creature to not even try it.

A)Is there some item, that we do not have, which would greatly enhance our ability to defeat Xin?
If the answer to A) is yes, then
B) Is that item on this island?
If the answer to B) is a yest, then
C) Is that item in this palace?
If the answer to C) is a yes, then
D) Is that item in the flooded portion of the palace?
If the answer to D) is a no,
E) Is that item up these stairs?

The above will consume between 1 and 5 of my questions, depending on what replies Ardan receives

F) Is there some information, that we do not have, which would greatly enhance our ability to defeat Xin?
If the answer to F) is yes, then
G) Is that information available on this island?
If the answer to G) is a yes, then
H) Is that item information available in this palace?
If the answer to H) is a yes, then
J) Is that information available in the flooded portion of the palace?
If the answer to I) is a no,
I) Is that information available up these stairs?

This sequence will also consume between 1 and 5 questions

J) If we destroy the construct will that permanently defeat Xin?
If the answer to J) is a no, then
K) Will destroying the construct temporally defeat Xin?

This sequence will consume 1 or 2 questions.

L) Is Fighting the construct the wisest course of action?
M) If we defeat Xin will the construct army no longer be a threat to Magnimar?
N) Is there a greater danger to Magnimar than the Construct Army?

That will consume up to 15 questions? We have a minimum of 1 more, and possibly many more if a bunch of follow up questions are mooted by there not being such an item or piece of information...

Does anybody have anything else they want to ask?

Please don't ask totally open questions like: N) Is there a greater danger to Magnimar than the Construct Army?

This question has no limit about time or the kind of threat. So the answer would be yes. As there can always be an eathquake or something.
