When you make it into the jail, you all notice the zombie that Meridian shot. You hear other noises of zombies in the jail as well. The shambling gets closer to you, and you see off in the distance other zombies, once guards or prisoners heading in your direction from the halls.

Zhan |

Zhan hurriedly reloads his revolver, making sure it is ready for use. He then casts Divine Favour.
"Before things get hairy, is anyone injured? Once we get this mob dealt with, we'll have to make sure all the entrances are secure. After that, it should be relatively safe in here. Robert, if you mean to channel to destroy any of them, could you give me warning? I have an... unusual reaction... to the energy compared to most folks."

Meridian Anterian |

Meridian lets everyone into the cell and relocks the door.
"Anyone have an extra blade or mace? These things are not worthy of the powder it takes to blow them back to hell."

Kiwyn |

PIcking her way over the bodies of the newly returned to dead Kiwyn hurries into the cell with the girl, trying to comfort and reassure her as best she can. Finding a seat on the cell's ramshackle cot she regards the others.
"I have a staff you can use." She replies at Meridian's query. Reaching over her shoulder she pulls a quarterstaff from her enchanted quiver, holding it out to Meridian.
If someone has better, Kiwyn will just set it aside for herself just in case.

Sir Simon Ravencourt |

Simon holds out a short cudgel of pale wood dotted with metal nails. They seem to be made of silver, grey and black metal set in an alternating spiral pattern that wraps down the head. The notches and scrapes and the stained leather grip speaks of lots of previous use.
Inlaid into the wood above the studs, molten gold has been poured into engraved angelic script.
Masterwork light mace, silver, iron and adamantine studs, with built in weapon cord. Deals bludgeoning and piercing damage. Simon's swiss-army knife for dealing with Damage Reduction.

Meridian Anterian |

Meridian nods politely to Kiwyn, "Thank you kindly. I could smash them to death with the butt stock, but I don't like to do that if there is another option; she has taken care of me far too well for that." Meridian slips the muzzle of his weapon into a soft case and slings it across his back, then takes the quarterstaff from Kiwyn with a slight bow, his hand making an odd flourish.

Zhan |

Zhan follows his own advice by drawing his gleaming silversheen sword.

The zombies bust through the door and windows by the entrance of the jail. Their moaning has turned into feral hungry rage. The ones already in the jail shamble closer to your cell. You see 8 creatures heading in your direction from the shadows.

Meridian hands the staff back to Kiwyn with a smile, "A knife would be better. I will take you up on that knife Zhan. Thank you."

Kiwyn |

Kywin nods as she accepts the staff back and sets it aside. Suddenly the sound of crashing echoes through the jail. The little wizard clutches the girl protectively, mentally going over her prepared spells. "A fire spell and a minor acid. I really wish I had anticipated a more eventful day." She cursed her lack of forethought.
The first creature she gets a clear shot at Kywin summons up a small orb of acid and launches it at the thing.

Three zombies go down after meeting axe, arrow and whip. Another has his head completely removed in a misty explosion as Zhan scores a critical. One is splashed by the acid orb, but continues to come closer. The rest charge the cell, trying to claw their way in. There are still 4 left that converge on the bars at once. From the hallways you hear the splintering of wood as more break through. They too head towards the cells.

The bars hold steady in the walls and floor. They reach through but have insufficient reach due to the size of the cell.

Meridian steps forward with the dagger in one hand and the axe in the other. He swings the axe viciously at one of the attacking zombies.

Wordlessly, Meridian reverses the swing and hacks into another zombie.

The zombies that were approaching from the outside make their way to the cell you're in. The few remaining zombies at the cell are quickly dwindling. With two swings, Meridian drops two of the undead. Silent hews his axe into another nearby zombie, and finishes it with a smack from the edge of his shield. Kiwyns acid orb continues to eat away at the zombie she hit once. This time it eats through the flesh on his head, leaving his brain exposed. The zombie is still moving as the brain starts to dissolve. It too falls and stops moving, the acid continuing its carnivorous path across the head of the corpse. Robert let flies an arrow that lays into another zombie. It hits the zombie in the chest however, not fully damaging the creature enough to bring it down. It continues its assault on the cage.

As another wave of zombies rush the cell, it creaks a bit. The force of the rush splinters the wooden wall behind you. It appears the large number of undead is starting to bring down the cell. More undead poor in through the shattered entrance towards your location.
"They're going to kill us!" shouts the captive. "Cleric, can't you do something?"

"I thought you were alright with being killed?" Robert says lightly then takes a deep breath. "I apologize. This day has been trying. I may have to channel energy but that won't stop all of them, only the ones close to us. Do we attempt to run out when they're down? Zhan, that was your warning."

Sir Simon Ravencourt |

Wait... the walls of the prison cell are made of wood? What the hell kind of jail is this? Apparently this town really wants people to break out of jail.

Zhan |

"Do it! He levels his gun and fires two more quick shots into the faces of the approaching hoard.
Shot 1 w/Deadly Aim(broken gun): 1d20 + 8 - 2 - 1 - 2 ⇒ (1) + 8 - 2 - 1 - 2 = 41d8 + 9 ⇒ (5) + 9 = 14

Another round fizzles instead of firing. (Advanced firearms do not explode if the misfire when already broken, luckily)
Damn! Of all the gods forsaken luck. The second shot rings loudly, but is not as well placed as it could be due to the smoke and fire spouting from the chamber, obscuring his aim.
Anticipating the burst of positive light that sears him so painfully, and so ironically, when it hits, he concentrates on accepting the energy instead of resisting it.

Robert grabs his necklace with a hand, feeling the living coral and starts to channel the crushing waves of the sea against the undead.

Meridian steps forward to swing again when all the undead that are nearby suddenly fall as Robert's power washes over them. He turns instead to the rest of the group, "Nicely done Robert. Are we staying or going?"

"Lets wait and see if any more arrive. This is an ideal defensive position. We might even be able to lure more in here if I go out any use myself as bait."

Zhan |

With the reprieve granted by Robert's channeling, Zhan fixes his gun, prying the two misspent cartridges from the cylinder. Once completed, he reloads and then holsters the weapon, drawing forth his longsword instead.
"There's so many, and a sword seems to be just as effective, considering the bars between us and them. No point is wasting my ammunition."
When more arrive, he lays into them with the blade, using vertical strokes that fall between the bars.

For nearly an hour the undead assault your location. They break against the cell wave after wave, and each time you cut them down where they stand. After activity dwindles down, the undead stop attacking you. It seems that there are none left, and it could be safe to leave. There are quite a few bodies around the cell, and the door looks like it may be hard to open. More time passes by...

"Let me take a look. Help me push the door open and hold it until I come back. If I'm running, be ready to slam it behind me."
Pushing open the cell door with the others, shoving against the piles of corpses, Simon eventually managed to clear a pathway large enough to move through.
Then he cautiously approached the doorway leading into the small cell block...

Meridian Anterian |

As Simon leaves the safety of the cell, Meridian sets the axe on the ground in front of him and readies his musket. He levels it in the direction that Simon went, ready to cover his retreat if necessary.

Zhan |

Zhan leaves the cell as well, his pistol drawn in one had, his longsword in the other. He moves to the end of the hall, watching for Simon.

The rest of you wait in the cell, eager to hear word or shout from Simon. The silence weighs down on you as time goes by.

"I'm relieved that this part is over, but it seems that there is a great deal we will have to investigate. A whole town, wiped out. Who could be responsible for this?"
