Depending on the success of the charm person...
Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10 meh.
Strength: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8 meh. The dice are not with me.
Rose Haddleton |
Rose mumbles something about she can't get any more wet, runs for the cliff and dives. It's a beautiful dive.
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 = 23
She attempts to keep everyone from sinking.
Strength: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 1 = 12
Regnel |
Regnel looks a bit hopeless as his friends jump off the cliff into the water below. "I'm not much of a swimmer, you see... and I'm carrying a surprising number of books with me..."
Ignoring the last (hopefully charmed) tough, Regnel rushes towards the rope, sheathing his longsword and attempting to pull his fellow Pathfinders up.
Strength: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20
He grunts as he pulls with all of his might.
DM Feral |
I don't think the charm person actually got used yet but I'm going to assume it does.
Will: 1d20 ⇒ 2
The scroll's magic takes hold and last remaining tough stops being hostile. "Huh? Sorry about all of that."
Gracefully diving into the water, Rose manages to grab hold of Avendar. With a heroic effort, Regnel begins hauling the daisy chain of people up the cliff.
Avendar and Selima are up.
Selima |
Selima calls Thirsty down and hands off the rope to the more able Regnel. She then turns her attention to her freshly charmed new friend. "Oh, I understand. You didn't mean to hurt anyone, it's just those bad fellows forced your hand, yes? Do be a dear and help those poor helpless old men back out of the drink. For me?"
Charisma check, if needed: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16
She then secures the slack to Thirsty's pack saddle and backs up before him, calling him to come so that he will aid in pulling the men up.
What about the ones who got loose? Are they able to swim to safety on their own?
Avendar |
I'm not sure what action Avendar can really take here, mechanically speaking
Avendar tries to hold onto the rope and the two,men all at once.
I suppose if continues to sink then he would use Dimensional Slide to move up 10'

DM Feral |
The ones that escaped the chains can safely tread water on their own. They're not in immediate danger.
Jaxal hauls Avendar and the chained prisoners up high enough to grab the ledge. A minute later the two that escaped the chains thanks to Selima's grease are hauled up as well.
The old men hack and cough as they struggle to work the water from their lungs. Yargos, the party's contact, is the first to recover. He nods in thanks but looks far from relieved.
"You must hurry", the older man gasps. "The codebook... It can restart the failed Taldan invasion... Undead... Young crimelord took it to sow chaos..."
"You have to stop them!"
Selima |
Feral, I never got an answer about purchases on discussion... do I have a wand with which to heal my tiger-baby-Thirsty?
"Do you know where they have taken the codebook, Master Yargos?" She asks as she strokes Thirsty's sleek fur in praise, and feeds him a chunk of meat from her hand.
Regnel |
Regnel takes a moment to catch his breath after helping to haul the men back up from the water. But as soon as Yargos Gill mentions restarting the "failed Taldan invasion", his ears perk up.
"Wait, how could an old book restart a failed invasion from several hundred years ago? Unless..."
Without waiting for the old man to answer, Regnel reaches into his pack and pulls out some of his old volumes of the Pathfinder Chronicles and begins paging through them.
Knowledge (History): 1d20 + 8 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 8 + 2 = 17 +2 circumstance bonus from the Pathfinder Chronicles
Avendar |
"Yes, my friend, where shall we find this man and the code book?"
-Posted with Wayfinder
Jaxal |
Jaxal retrieves his rapier and bow while waiting to hear an answer on the expected location of this codebook.
"Maybe your charmed friend can help us out?" he suggests to Selima.
Ready to go, he looks over the others. "And who are all of you that you drew such ire as to be in danger of being drowned?"
Rose Haddleton |
Rose pulls of a soggy boot, and dumps the water out of it. "Yes. What happened to upset these fine um, gentlemen?" She continues to straighten her clothing while waiting for an answer.
Selima |
Selima taps Thirsty with her wand to take care of his bruises and then nods to Jaxal's suggestion as she turns to her new "friend". "You did well with saving the old gents, but those bad men are thieves too, it seems. Do you know where they have taken this silly old book? I would be very pleased if you would tell us." She smiles up at the man and awaits his answer.
DM Feral |
Yargos shakes his head. "Nessian - head of the Warhounds. He's trying to make a name for himself. He thinks he can use the chaos from the invasion to loot the city..."
Just then a red light can be spotted, flashing in a distinctive pattern from the top of a distant building, deep in the city.
“That's him!” shouts a hoarse Yargos. “He’s signaling Black Echelon... the undead! Six flashes of red - I remember that signal… By the gods! That’s the granary! Nessian has sent those monsters to poison the granary! Go! I don’t know how, but you have to stop them - we’re the only ones who know what’s happening. I'll catch up.”
Jaxal |
Granary? Where is that again?
Know, local: 1d20 + 0 + 1d6 ⇒ (1) + 0 + (2) = 3
"Does anyone know where he means?"
Regnel |
Regnel closes his book when Gill cries out, and he stows it away, hoping to look up some more details on this ancient invasion once the immediate danger is dealt with.
"Wait, undead attacking the granary? On account of a signal flashing from a building? I'm officially confused."
Seeing the seriousness in Yargos' tone, though, Regnel realizes that the old man means what he says. He draws his sword and shield and rushes in the direction of the local granary.
Avendar |
Avendar frowns and follows suit. "Yes, the granary, very well. But where are these undead coming from? How will we stop them for good?"

Selima |
Selima takes her charmed friend by the hand and pulls him along as she trots after the group. "Come, Thirsty. We are needed elsewhere. You too, dear boy. Ah... what was your name again?"
I get to keep him for an hour, so may as well make the most of it. Feral, if you don't feel like naming an anonymous tough, we shall call him George.
DM Feral |
"Right, I'm coming!" George says. "Are you sure we should be doing this? Nessian's going to be really upset."
It takes roughly twenty minutes of sprinting through Absalom's busy streets but the party reaches Absalom's primary granary as quickly as possible. Those in the open mutter in surprise about the strange fog bank that seems to have filled the city's streets and alley ways.
When the party arrives at the massive granary, they find the three guards posted to protect the food depot are already dead. The front doors are ajar.
Entering the front room, the party finds it to be empty. A trail of blood is visible leading from the entrance to the eastern doors.
The map is up. Which way?
Avendar |
to the eastern doors!
"This must be the way!" Avendar shouts and runs after the trail of blood, rapier held ready.

Rose Haddleton |
Rose follows Avendar into the room at a more sedate pace her rapier at the ready. Why didn't I pick up a blunt weapon. You never know when you might need one of those. She's regretting not picking up different types of weapons just in case undead meant skeletons.
Selima |
"Right, I'm coming!" George says. "Are you sure we should be doing this? Nessian's going to be really upset."
Since they have a bit of a jog before they arrive, she presses George for more information. "Will he? I know next to nothing about the man, perhaps you can tell me about him? What is his ultimate goal?"
Charisma check: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24
Selima and her little troupe of tough and tiger follow the rest of the group on the blood trail.
Selima Perception: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 1 = 20
Thirsty Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26
I'll find an image for George. We're only 30 mins into his charm so far, I think?
Dang! That should have been a combat post. *pouts*
"You will protect me, won't you dear George?" She asks softly, touching his shoulder in a friendly way.
Charisma check: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19
DM Feral |
"I guess I can help for a little bit", George offers.
Moving ahead, Avendar finds this chamber of the granary to be flooded with grain pouring from hatches in the ceiling. The blood trail is almost instantly lost amid the rapidly shifting texture of the floor.
A skeletal figure can be seen standing at the top of a short curved ramp can be seen struggling to open an ancient long rusted chest.
Initiative: 6d20 ⇒ (20, 17, 1, 12, 19, 4) = 73
Everyone but Rose is up.
Jaxal |
"Skeletons, eh?"
Jaxal moves 15' toward the skeleton as he mixes a few chemical components, and drinks the concoction. Suddenly, he hands transform into fists of stone.
Regnel |
Regnel calls upon the spirit that dwells in his ancient sword to strengthen his blade and moves towards the skeletal figure.
Move action to move 20', standard action to spend 1 Transmutaton Mental Focus to activate the Legacy Weapon ability to transform my sword into a +1 longsword for 1 minute.
Avendar |
Avendar stretches out his arm and a ray of positive energy leaps from his fingers towards the skeleton.

Selima |
No input from George on what Nessian is up to?
Selima moves forward, directing her friend to proceed before her. She aims an acid splash at the creature and then gives Thirsty the command to attack. He lopes forward, but cannot yet reach the skeleton so he stands his ground, ready to bite if it comes close.
Ranged Touch Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5 Acid Damage: 1d3 ⇒ 3
Thirsty Held attack Bite: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19 Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Thirsty does have Attack 2 so he will move on unnatural foes as well. His bite does piercing, slashing and bludgeoning damage.
DM Feral |
Oh, sorry.
"He's not a nice guy. He's got this flail his loves to beat the boys with when we're not performing up to his standards. I don't know exactly what he's planning. He just said we're going to rob Absalom blind but we needed to take out those old scholars first."
***
Suddenly two skeletons burst from the piled up grain to attack. Thirsty is quick to latch onto one and shakes it to pieces. The other closes on George with its bony claws.
Claw: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 = 15
Damage: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
Claw: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9
Damage: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
George cries out in pain and collapses when one of the claws rakes across his face. Two more skeletons appear in the entryway to the next silo over.
Rose is up.
Rose Haddleton |
Rose moves forward and pulls a flask of Holy Water out of her bag. "Here someone can throw this or I'll wait until I can see to throw it."
Move 20 feet, and second move to pull out the holy water. I'll willing let someone grab it out of my hand and throw it. Otherwise my plan is to throw it on my next turn (assuming the skeletons are still alive).
Avendar |
Avendar moves away from the incoming skeletons and sends another ray of positive energy at the one on top of the stairs.
ranged touch attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15 for positive energy: 1d6 ⇒ 5
Selima |
"Oh no! Poor George. He was quite nice under the spell." She looks back to Rose and says, "That's sweet of you dear, but I have my own." Taking a step around poor George's prone form, Selima pulls out her own flask of Holy Water and hurls it at the nasty skele.
Ranged Touch, Holy Water: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14 Holy Water Damage: 2d4 ⇒ (3, 3) = 6
Thirsty |
Thirsty will continue to attack, defaulting to whichever is still moving closest to his mistress. If the one Selima attacked is down, he'll head for green.

Jaxal |
Jaxal continues slogging his way through the grain, finally reaching the bottom of the stairs. (Double move)
Rose Haddleton |
Rose moves further into the room and sees only one skeleton left, and he's right next to the tiger. I'll keep a hold of this Holy Water just in case more of them pop out of the grain.
With the penalties I'd get from throwing into melee, I'll hold on to the flask this turn.
