Hey guys, good to see you here. Now we've got a couple things to get done before the game starts:
- Get Characters fully done. Skills, stunts, phase aspects (make sure to do your crossover adventures)
- Brainstorm campaign issues (need one current and two upcoming issues)
- Every player will get to make 2 locations
- Every player will get to make 2 NPCs (often a face for the previous locations, though not necessarily). Give me one aspect to work with for these, I'll get the rest.
Grand Moff Vixen
Thanks for considering me! I'm new to Fate myself, but have been reading the book to become more familiar. I'll get an alias up sometime today and begin working to fully complete everything for Bellina.
Question: how will we be rolling the Fate dice? As far as I know the Paizo forums don't have a way to do this.
Ryuko
So how are we doing the crossovers? Posting them in here and seeing who wants to crossover? Or pming each other our starting sentences?
I would think just post them up and let someone suggest a way they got involved. So long as everyone gets a couple the group will know each other well.
Buceda Miswi
Alright.
I guess I'll kick off.
Hmm..
Early in her travels off planet Buceda spent all day in a starport's library; she stayed there for so long, that she found herself locked in when the library closed for the weekend. Several hours passed without anyone coming close enough to hear her cries for help, so Buceda went back to studying, occasionally pausing to yell "HELP!"
Phase aspect :Occasionally Insufferable Bookworm
Feel free to hop in anyone.
Jek Tarkin
I'll bite.
A starport's library is supposed to be a quiet place, so when Jek slipped in there with the all-too-willing Twi'lek lass, he thought his day was about to get much better. But after she knocked him out with gas, he came to only to discover he was locked in with a bookworm for company.
And that's when the security droids malfunctioned...
Phase aspect: Sucker for a pretty face
Mahorfeus
Hm. I think I've got one.
Early in his days as a crook, J'Ruuk's boss at the time told him to go to a local cantina (planet not necessarily relevant) to collect an overdue "protection fee" from the owner. As it would happen, the Whiphid obliviously ended up walking into the wrong cantina, and demanded the credits from the wrong Twi'lek. Blasters were drawn, drinks were spilled, and everybody walked away alive but unhappy.
Phase aspect: Which Way Is Where?

Phase aspect: Which Way Is Where?
I will play off of that.
During a planetary territory dispute, Bellina found herself with some downtime and chose to relax in the local cantina with a drink. As she let the cool Corellian Red slide down, a whiphid practically burst in looking for the owner. He spoke with him briefly, when blasters were suddenly were being pointed everywhere. She was quick with words to calm the situation, and in the end they walked away no worse for wear.
Phase aspect: Stressed with work.
GypsyMischief
I'll take Vixen's place in J'Ruuk's story. I've decided that my character will be known as Omi-Cron Rixiti, a strong Zabraki name given to her by an old street friend. Also, is it chill if the order has put her on a temporary leave of duty, or moreover a "Period of Independent Study and Contemplation"? This would explain her lack of official duties or a Padawan (Do knights have Padawans?) Also, also, are we traveling on Jek's ship? If so I feel like naming the vessel is his domain.
During Rixiti's travels she found a run-down cantina to duck into, slamming a few drinks before a furious Whipid burst through the front door, demanding to see the owner. Jumping into the confrontation with some liquid courage Rixiti used a gentle jedi mind trick to calm the livid bartender, paying her tab and escorting the Whipid into a different nearby bar for a few introductions. (That work with you, J'Ruuk?)
Aspect: Party! Party! Party! (Rixiti has a love for intoxicants, her time on the streets made her a party monster, she has a love affair with theatrics.)
Jek Tarkin
Next aspect:
When a case of mistaken identity sends Jek on a diplomatic mission as the Jedi-in-charge, he has to scramble to get out alive as well as avoid an inadvertent marriage to the Crown Princess of Vergon Prime and a civil war between Vergon Prime and Vergon Beta.
Aspect: I swear I thought I knew what I was doing!
Ryuko
I'd be fine with a "Period of Independent Study and Contemplation", though with the stories you're telling so far, are you sure you want to do a Jedi? I could see her being someone who had washed out of training or left the order. I don't mind if you stay a Jedi right now (maybe you're on that path) but just a thought.
Jek, you're too good at these. Awesome aspects and stories.
Sad to see you go Vixen. Good gaming!
I may invite Yoricks Requiem to join us in her place.
Buceda Miswi
I'll bite on Jek's story
During a routine diplomatic meeting as part of her padawan training, Buceda was a little surprised to spot an old friend, apparently impersonating a Jedi Knight.
In the inevitable fallout, Buceda found herself defending the unfortunate man as he made his escape, her lightsaber deflecting any rogue blaster fire away.
Phase Aspect: "I don't care if you don't want to be defended"
GypsyMischief
I'm down with Omi-Cron having left the order, I imagine it had a great deal to do with the death of her master, and her inability to fully put grief, hate, and the rest of her emotions behind her. Boom, aspect idea;
On a standard intelligence gathering mission to the supposedly desolate droid dominated planet M4-78, a Sith stronghold during the time of the old republic, Omi-Cron and Mowahn, her master, were ambushed and brutalized by a small company of Sith warriors. They were remarkably fierce and well trained. As the Jedi desperately attempted to make their escape Master Mowahn was cut down by a particularly horrifying black scaled Trandoshan. Omi-Cron saved herself, not letting her master's sacrifice be in vain.
Aspect: "The power of the dark side" (I'm not trying to go Sith on you, just seemed like a proper name, I can totally rename it, or scrap the idea, no biggie. I'm kind of running with the idea that Omi has a heart of gold but is just plain awful at controlling her emotions, leading her to walk the middle path of the force. )
Also second vote for the Pallid Sloth, haha. What about the Indignant Mongoose?
YoricksRequiem
Hey guys, late arrival but super excited to be here! I'll be working on my character a bit tonight and will be posting this evening to start interworking with some of you guys!
Every player will get to make 2 locations
What's the size/scope of these? Is it like, "My bedroom" or more like "Ancient Jedi temple on Yavin" or more like "Cloud City".
Also, idea for you guys: I'm in another Star Wars game here - an Edge of the Empire game - and (being a web developer), I created a plugin for Google Chrome where I've replaced people's avatars with more Star Wars appropriate ones. If anyone uses Google Chrome and wants to use this, please let me know and give me a picture of your character. I can obviously do any cropping or whatever to it. No pressure either way, but I know the Avatar system here is pretty limiting, especially for a game like this, and it's always better when you can accurately represent your character.
Ryuko
I'd love to get a Yoda picture. Seems appropriate for a GM lol. Also, how the heck do you guys do EOTE Dice on the boards? Seems like it would be awful, at least Fudge Dice are easy to convert.
The scope is generally somewhere between a building and a neighborhood. A bar you're likely to visit, the spaceport you frequent, the dangerous neighborhood, a quiet glade... any of these are ok, though I'll give a tad more direction now that I've got a bigger story idea in mind.
Speaking of which, I've got a bigger story idea in mind!
I'm imagining beginning the campaign with the ship approaching the Hutt controlled border world of Nar Shaddaa, having been reassigned to the planet's newly burgeoning Jedi Temple (which is currently more of a Jedi Office) and delivering a valuable hueristic phase scrambler (hooray for technobabble!). Your characters have been assigned to this mission in Hutt space, which is currently undeclared in the shadowy guerrilla conflict between the Jedi and New Sith, in order to represent the good the Jedi can do in Hutt space and hopefully open offers of an alliance, as the leaders of the Hutts seem to currently be close to declaring for the New Sith and bringing this shadow war abruptly into the light. The Hutt declaring support of the Sith would likely force them into a full scale war with the Republic, which the Jedi wish to avoid after the loss of life and destruction of the previous Sith War. In addition, public opinion of the Jedi is at an all time low, despite (perhaps in part because of) the fact that very few Senate seats are currently occupied by non-Jedi. The Jedi Masters worry that the escalation of the war could cause outright rebellion within the Republic, forcing them to fight a war on two fronts. Each of you has a different reason to be sent here, and each of you has a bit of an agenda of your own in addition to that of the Council (spreading goodwill about the Jedi as a whole, including the Agricultural, Artistic and Exploratory Corps).
I'm going to spoil these reasons for your characters being sent. Each of them will be split between what the character is expected to know and what would be a bigger spoiler. If any of these don't seem right for your character, or you have a better idea, or you just wanna talk about it, feel free. It's your character and if the directions I'm dropping don't seem to suit your fancy then we can change them. I don't mind anyone reading any or all of these as long as you can keep in character and out of character knowledge separate.
Ryuko
I'm honestly drawing a blank right now on J'Ruuk. Perhaps you guys can help me out a bit in a PM or here?
Not really a Behind the Scenes for you Yorick, unless you have a suggestion.
Buceda Miswi
Also, I'll bite on Omi-crons' thing
Buceda traveled many places in her early padawan days, but few stuck with her more than a space-station orbiting M4-78.
She was there only in an observatory capacity, but she still found herself counseling the young survivor of a dreadful attack, one Omi'Crom...
Phase Aspect: Resist temptation, vengeance is hollow.
NT-2B
I'd love to get a Yoda picture. Seems appropriate for a GM lol.
Sure! I'll wait for the others to chime in before putting it together.
Also, how the heck do you guys do EOTE Dice on the boards? Seems like it would be awful, at least Fudge Dice are easy to convert.
There's a conversion in the EOTE book for when you don't have the custom dice, just using normal polyhedral dice. It kind of sucks to have to consult a chart for everything you roll, but it's working for us. I dig the system for the most part.

No, yeah, I mean, it's totally understandable that those who have stock in the Jedi wouldn't share their Master Plans with a droid. And it's not like he'd ask, but rather just be excited about being tasked with assisting younger Jedi.
Also, I've started to fill out my alias. I will need to do Crossovers with people still, so hopefully you guys aren't out of ideas for them. :P

Well there could still be things going on behind the scenes for you that you just didn't know about, as there are for all three others, but if you can't think of anything I won't be too bothered. And I'm glad you're enjoying it, I do love the ideas behind the boosts and penalties thing. Succeeding while getting negatives or failing but with advantages is really cool. Its just the rest of it was a little too crunchy for my tastes these days. I don't have the patience to learn rules heavy systems lately.
J'Ruuk
Hm. Maybe J'Ruuk can be on board "officially" as an informant? I could use one of my NPCs on a Hutt (one of his old bosses that he didn't manage to piss off somehow) that is a small-time crimelord, which by Hutt standards, makes him a bit of a failure. Unofficially, he could be hired muscle, since I don't think the jedi would outright pay for that kind of thing.
GypsyMischief
Ooh, how juicy, I really like what's coming together here. I'll be rewording some aspects and building an alias when I can get to a computer. How many aspects are we putting together total? 5? I'm considering taking Empathy as my top-tier skill.
Also, I like J'ruuk's underworld connection in his backstory, let's get our hands dirty
Ryuko
Also, thinking of taking Will as my top-tier skill. Or maybe Education.
Thoughts?
I think Education might be stepping on NT-2B's toes a bit. Seems like that'll be his nom de plume. Will seems more appropriate Maybe take a Force Absorption stunt, which would let you Defend against energy based attacks (like Force Lightning or blasters) with Will. We see Yoda use this against Dooku and Darth Vader use it against Han in Cloud City. Of course this would leave you vulnerable to physical projectiles, like those fired by bowcasters or other kinetic weapons.
Alternatively, you could take Saber Deflection, which would let you use Fight to defend against both blasters and kinetic weapons, but would leave you vulnerable to fire or lightning. Or of course, you could take both.

Seems Fight might be the more obvious one to me, though Empathy is fine if that's what you'd prefer. 5 aspects total, including High Concept and Trouble.
I've got two options for J'Ruuk's story, feel free to choose between them.
Figured I'd let J'Ruuk name his friend.
J'Ruuk
Hm. I think I feel better about Option Two. I like the idea of J'Ruuk's employer being a "good" guy, rather than someone plotting to screw everyone over. I'm sure there are already plenty of Hutts that would like to do that already.
As far as the name goes, I think "Rumba the Hutt" (actual surname not withstanding) should be fine.
Ryuko
I hate to say it, but I'd be very surprised if an altruistic Hutt has ever existed.
Altruism is fine as long as it doesn't interfere with one's bottom line.
In other news, reading The Wookiepedia page on the Hutts is an exercise in "from bad to worse". Hutts are disgusting creatures.
Some fun notes: Hermaphroditic, carry their young in a pouch, often eat said young to avoid future competition, often live up to two thousand years (one of the longest lived races in the Star Wars galaxy), the only Jedi Hutt I found ended up a petty dictator after finding a planet that increased his powers, find human and humanoid females attractive in a strange aesthetic sense as opposed to a sexual one (so that's what's with Leia's costume)
NT-2B

I think a fair amount of that was meant to be degrading - even though Alderaan had been destroyed, Leia was a powerful and intelligent woman. And she's in this gold bikini with a chain around her. He's mocking her royal background. And that she goes from such a humiliated position to killing Jabba with the chain is something that elevates her to being a proper badass. I dunno, despite how it tends to be perceived, I actually find very little sexual about that outfit.
Also, on the topic of the age of Hutts, there's a line from Return of the Jedi that was cut that I think is just a damned shame. At one point, Jabba was to say to Luke, "I was killing your kind when being a Jedi meant something.”

That's fair from a writing and story standpoint, but it was still a bit odd in universe. Seemed like Jabba was being kind of... I dunno... pointless? Still though, a way I'd never looked at it. And I do like having a canon reason he'd choose to have her lolling around.
Yeah, great line. Didn't know that. Hutt was originally intended to be a crime family honorific, like Capo or Don.
Jek Tarkin
I like the behind the scenes part for Jek. Very cool!
Last chapter for Jek: When a routine piloting duty leads to a stowaway and a hostage situation, Jek gets caught up in a human trafficking ring. His weakness for a pretty face may be his undoing when it's revealed that nothing is as it seems!
Last Aspect:"Never Trust Appearances!"
Skills:
Great (+4): Pilot
Good (+3): Notice, Provoke
Fair (+2): Will, Fight, Shoot
Average (+1): Investigate, Mechanics, Deceive, Athletics
Stunts:
Intuitive Mind Trick: Use Will to persuade a target
Faster, Must Go Faster: You can coax more speed out of your vehicle than seems possible. Whenever you’re engaged in any contest where speed is the primary factor (such as a chase or race of some kind) and you tie with your Pilot roll, it’s considered a success.
I Got a Bad Feeling About This: You have an almost preternatural capacity for detecting danger. Your Notice skill works unimpeded by conditions like total concealment, darkness, or other sensory impairments in situations where someone or something intends to harm you.

I like all of these. Good Stunts, Aspects and Skills. Approved and finalized.
Well, I've got a skill list worked out. Hving trouble coming up with the best stunt ideas.
Anyone got a clue?
Well I've got Force Absorb and Deflect above. There's a stunt somewhere that lets you use a Fate Point to deflect an attack from an ally to yourself. You could do a +2 to Fight when you go Full Defense. I don't really know what else you want Buceda to be good at other than defensive fighting. Perhaps a +2 to Rapport when trying to defuse a possibly violent situation?
Jek Tarkin
If you head over to the Fate SRD here, each skill has a few sample stunts with it. I just reskinned a couple for Star Wars and it worked wonders!
J'Ruuk
Aspect: Which Way Is Where? (w/ Omi-Cron)
Last chapter for Jek: When a routine piloting duty leads to a stowaway and a hostage situation, Jek gets caught up in a human trafficking ring. His weakness for a pretty face may be his undoing when it's revealed that nothing is as it seems!
I'll go off this one.
J'Ruuk had one simple job - not to let anyone into the cargo hold until they reached their destination. But when a roguish jedi interferes and J'Ruuk learns just what he had been guarding, he has to decide - is the boss' money worth it?
Aspect: "I Don't Do Slave Jobs"
Skills:
Great (+4): Physique
Good (+3): Fight, Shoot
Fair (+2): Contacts, Notice, Provoke
Average (+1): Athletics, Empathy, Mechanics, Pilot
Still working on stunt ideas.

Well we could always help if you know what kind of parts of your character you wanna focus on. Knowing you wanna be tough as heck...
Redundant Organ Systems: Once per session, you may downgrade a moderate consequence to mild or get rid of a mild consequence entirely. (physical only)
You Call That a Hit?: You gain one extra mild physical consequence.
Let the Whiphid Win: Use Physique instead of Provoke for intimidation rolls.
Thick Fur, Tough Skin: Armor:2 against physical, kinetic hits.
I got more, I love stunts.
