The Ratshank is a very filthy place.
Wicker Warrior it is. 1st day's room/fare is free, considered part of your character creation wealth spent. I'll post the in-character forum soon, to get you all started.
I will be posting sporadically afterward for the next few days, as I'll be without internet for 2 days.

Any of you who have not added your background to your character profile, please do.

Awesome. :)
I noticed the Riftview description refers to Shaygen as a woman but the post in the IC thread refers to him as a man. Small oversight there?

Vess'Sothek |

Sorry about the spareness from me, but my motherboard died a little over a day ago. I'm set to get the new part tomorrow, so I should be back in business then. I'm only posting from a contact's computer, so I can't take the time to compose something in-depth until tomorrow night.
I'll make sure it's extra-juicy then though!

No worries we won't leave you behind...

Vess'Sothek |

PC fixed and post up!
RE the background tie-in to Rsss'tak and Djatrix, I'm thinking Vess'Sothek observed Djatrix leaving for exile and, being a bit put-off by the warrior/hunter castes, decided it would be a good opportunity to join you in your travel and see the lay of the land in the process.
You two would know everything in the lizard's profile except any dealings with Landrith. Unless, of course, you happened to know him as well.

Okay, so Ultimate Combat comes out on August 4th... I'll read it as quickly as possible and update the available options and the like. IF anyone wants to tweak their character (feats, archetypes, etc.) based on this knowledge, I'll work with you to do so. In the future, I'll not be as accommodating with existing characters, but this game started so close to the book's release date. :)

BTW, I will be out of town from Thursday evening to Sunday afternoon, please bot me as needed. Going away on a bachelor party to New Orleans so I probably won't have much time to post much and am not planning to bring my laptop anyways.

No worries, thanks for the Head's up.
I'll be gone all day Sunday, as a head's up.

So a friend may be joining if it's okay with the group. I've asked him to create an account on here and gave him the relevant links via email. He's played Pathfinder/3.5 for a good while, and would be a decent addition. He wanted to know what sort of class you'd all like to see the most.
He's set on either playing a human or traull (and if he joins before you leave the tavern, I'll say he was one of the gamblers), and would ideally like to wait until Ultimate Combat to see what the gunslinger is like, but would be willing to play something else or multiclass.
Thoughts everyone? I think he'll lean ranged fighter-type or brutish-melee rogue type, as that's what he usually plays.
However, if you all think 7 is too large for a party, I'm sure he'd understand. Life got in the way of him joining sooner.

Good here, although I am not a fan of guns that much in Fantasy games. They are cool for D20 modern or scifi...just not my cup of tea in PF.
Not to sound snarky, but you did read the world fluff, right? In this setting, firearms are emerging among humans and traulls, and as time goes on will become a little more common. The setting will have to come to terms with what that means in terms of warfare, armor, magic, etc. It is a sign of civilization progressing--but unlike our world, Aeux has monsters and magic as a counter. There are also flying ships, among the mysterious gith... :)

I did read that, the flying ships I consider magic :)
I am cool with it, just wouldn't play one myself. Of course I still have to play about 10 pathfinder classes before I get to any of the UC or UM stuff....
Tharrek Duerforge |

Hello everybody. This is Therrek Duerforge, fighter and adventurer. i'm still workin on his char sheet and fluff but should have it ready soon. I decided against gunslinger for now and want to wait for ultimate combat to come out, maybe for a future character or multi class dip or something?
short background- Therrek was born in Drakkenfeyr and acted as a guard between there and Riftview, eventually setttling down in Dar'r with a girlfriend for a while until things went sour and the town got boring. Therrek then moved up to riftview to look into guard work or adventuring and make some money on te side in the weekly Wicker Warrior fights. He is gruff and cocky.

I still need to look over spells and feats, but so far I am happy with the material as presented.
Guslinger: I like that the Mysterious Stranger archetype for Gunslinger allows Cha in place of Wis for Grit and the like. I was considering making that default anyway (or player's choice upon character creation), but am not sure. Also, I am adding Sense Motive to the skill list, and making the Grit Pool = Wis mod + 1/2 level (like monk's ki pool). Otherwise I think it's fine. I'm ruling that the Pistol Whip deed, as I read it, allows the gunslinger to use their guns as melee weapons for free, but knocking a target prone costs grit.
Ninja: Rogues will have access to non-duplicate ninja talents, but ninjas will not be available as PC classes. Maybe in far-off lands, or secretive NPC assassin guilds, but not likely. Same reason I don't want monks in the game. Wrong feel.
Samurai: This class does not bother me as long as it's not called Samurai. Or, if it is the way cavaliers are, crunch-wise, in far-off lands like Sendast.
Archetypes: Not seeing a problem so far, but haven't looked over the alchemist, paladin, or cleric yet.
Feats: Still have to read.
Spells: Still have to read.

Fate and Fortune |

Spelndid. :) I am now a Cad. Gives me skills I want and frees up trait choices. Got rid of sledge, 5 sacks, and the shovel and got a horsechopper (good to have a bcak up weapon i figure). Taking Combat Reflexes instead of Imp. feint.
Trying not to optimize is hard for you, isn't it? :) Also, the Cad archetype takes away more than it gives, imo. So... make the cad's skill points 4+Int instead of 2+Int. Taking away med/heavy armor is rough.

I apologize for the unexpected hiatus; my transportation took a very interesting turn on Thursday. I've set my post to pace myself with the shopping while gone, and I will flesh out the more intricate details tomorrow after some sleep!
No worries, it happens to everyone. All I ask is that you all let me know if you're going to be gone for longer than a few days, or longer than a day during combat sessions, so I can accommodate.
@ Everyone: Another thing: How does everyone feel we should handle absentee players during combat?
Would you rather they fade into the background (neither act nor be harmed), have me take them over (if so, give me a brief standard tactics routine in the near future, even if it's just "I hang back and fight defensively, or I melee until half hit points and then fall back, etc.), be treated as holding your action and taking total defense, or something else?

Yochtanl Torufo |

Personally, I feel letting you control the PC as long as we're gone would be the best choice. I'm sure you can make sound combat decisions.
Yochtanl's default action during level 1 is probably to hit a group with Sleep or a single powerful target with Ray of Enfeeblement. If there's only a caster, melee attack with the spear.

I'm sort of curious on why vesh wear masks, myself. :D Is there a particular reason or is it just tradition?
Huh. I thought I added it to their fluff. It is sacred tradition. It is impolite to show one's face to people, the same way it is impolite for humans to show their genitals in public. Additionally, Vesh see their individual life as an extension of their tribe, their ancestors, and their future generations. Thus, masks are more important than faces, as they make one part of the tribe and connect you to your ancestors, with masks often being passed down or crafted in the image of an honored ancestor's mask. Archetypes are more 'real' than the physical body, and have greater effect on those around them.

Fate and Fortune |

Hey, guys, it may just be timing, but I'm worried I'm moving the action too slowly for your tastes. The plan was to make every day spent in the environment you traveled through immersive enough to give a feel for the environment and inhabitants, but skim through open uneventful environments with some descriptive text. I also want to expand the Rumor Mill organically, much like an RPG video game.
If you feel this approach isn't working, please let me know.
In civilized lands, the random encounter charts are pretty non-existent, combat-wise, but events (such as Add to Rumor Mill, Delay, Important NPC, etc.) still happen.
I initially wanted to catch up to 7 pm so Benjamin would have a chance to do whatever he was doing and then join back up, but since he's not posted I'm fast-forwarding.
You'll all be happy to know that I've rolled on random encounters, regarless of which direction/hex you head toward, and each has some interesting results...
