Sense Motive: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10
In the depths of the pool she finds herself in, Gadrielle finds herself at a disadvantage when trying to ascertain body language.

"Thank you. Could you tell us about the other levels?"
Seeing no hostility from her or the automaton, Uhvat moves closer to study it more closely, although he carefully avoids touching it or allowing his ectoplasmic lash to come near.
perception: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (13) + 12 = 25

Galonor sees a short tunnel that ends in a T. On the left, a ladder ascends to a higher platform.
Uhvat, the automaton is well-made, with slivers of emerald green spire material in the design.
"Klarkosh's lair lies below this level. It's a mess of clockwork and gears, confusing and twisting. I have only been there once; when we came through the portal from the Plane of Water, he found us here and offered an alliance. I respected his wishes that we not explore any further. He seemed... reluctant to allow anyone else to delve too deeply into his secrets. Beyond that.. I know there are serpentfolk who dwell deeper, who dispute Klarkosh's claims of lordship. But the magic on this level is enough to occupy my scholarly concerns for the time being and the near future as well. A further examination of the spire's magics may be in the cards, but I could easily spend a year studying the fluctuations here without issue." She seems to be becoming distracted and slightly annoyed as the conversation goes on. You suspect she's ready to return to her work.

sense motive: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15
Sensing her growing irritation, Uhvat bows and replies, "Thank you for your help. The information is very useful. We would not disturb you any further and will be on our way." He bows again and joins Galonor.
"Do the way look clear?"
(Does it look like we've explored this whole level? Unless we want to go back and fight some of the creatures we skipped?)

"We'll leave you to your work. Thank you for your time, and the information." Zifan looks ready to go as well. "I believe we should introduce ourselves to Klarkosh."

Our Mysterious Benefactor |

You could certainly fight some monsters if you wish, but I'm not penalizing you for not fighting them. Diplomacy led you to avoid some encounters, which counts to my mind as successfully overcoming the challenge.
Galonor, who is exploring the exit, calls out that it looks clear.
"Very well. You were... less offensive than most air-breathers." She allows, with a quick wave.

Sense Motive: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
"Less offensive, high-praise indeed..." Chinchi mutters to himself. But then again, scholarly types often seemed not to notice their lack of social skills.
"We should leave these fine folk to their work, and carry on with our own then. Descend?"

![]() |

"Yes let's descend." Zifan agrees. As she moves away from the pool and the clockwork she says, "This tower isn't as bad as I thought it would be, but we have managed to talk through quite of bit of what may have been fights otherwise."

Likewise, Galonor agrees and leads the path down the spire. "Don't count on it. Clearly, there will be challenges to come that the word of mouth cannot solve." The half orc eyes suspiciously at the wondrous construct as he walks away.

![]() |

"Let's go then. There is no need for unnecessary battle. Let's leave the creatures be and continue on our journey."

Thus concludes this level. In keeping with the PFS timeline, this level will be a slow track to balance the last one. If this does not work for anyone, please let me know. Otherwise, roll dayjobs in the discussion thread and I will begin work on the chronicles.
