Bonded mind is great, it's like having CB radios with throat mics (the ones that Seals use but you don't have to even speak or point at the individual you want to talk to).

    Outflank is good too.

Outflank can be something the melee combatants take on their own feat-slots, honestly, because it wouldn't help a significant contingent of most parties.

I just realized Swashbuckler grants a variant version of Weapon Finesse. Would ticking that over to Combat Reflexes be allowed or is Swashbuckler's Finesse/Inspired Finesse different enough from Weapon Finesse that it doesn't count for the feat tax? I'm fine either way, but having Combat Reflexes free would make it easier to use teamwork feats like Outflank later on.

There is also the fact that we couldn’t select Outflank yet (+4 BAB req) unless Rahl waived feat requirements for the free feat

Yeah, I'm used to Hunter, where you get it free at 2. Bonded Mind is pretty incredible, it's not one I'm familiar with. As an alternate I was going to suggest Shake It Off, which can provide a significant boost to saves, but relies on being adjacent to teammates. Boned Mind is probably still better though.

Bah, I am unsure I will have time to finish my PC. My bro called me last minute with an extra ticket to Last Jedi, and I just don't have the energy to work on him any more tonight.

I will try and finish him off tomorrow, before Final Battle.

I won't have time to finish this one so I'll back out.

    Enjoy the game.

    Marek D'Lyrandar
    Unchained Monk/Druid

    Background:
Marek's life as a soldier was unremarkable until the end of the war. A distant relative of House Lyrandar, he didn't even bare the House's name. A Dragonmark hadn't been on a relative of his in more generations than his grandfather could recount and that left them as minor players on the edges of the Lyrandar holdings in Valenar.

He worked as an envoy to the Deneith troops stationed nearby. While often not employed by the Valenar, they were hired by the Siyal Marrain to help keep House Vadalis from interfering in their horse breeding when their ranks were stretched thin towards the end of the war. Marek spent most of his time talking with soldiers, both mercenary and national. Though he was sometimes deployed with a small honor guard when the Valenar wanted to make a small show of intent in nearby Metrol.

In battle he served mostly in posts closer to home, but traveled in battles across Khorvair as well as guarded a few diplomatic missions. One of his final postings had him working in an honor guard with several other nations. He was briefly in the consulate in Metrol before going to Gatherhold to attend a series of diplomatic meetings. As a member of Lyrandar he was held in political esteem amongs the soldiers. In Gatherhold he met an elvish Valenar woman named Mialee.

The two were antagonistic to one another at first, blustering and making jokes at each other's expense (as was the way of the Valenar). However after an assassin used the Karrnathi undead to attack the diplomats in the streets of Gatherhold the two fought side by side to save the diplomats and came to a kind of respect for one another. It wasn't long before they became much more than friends. Often spending nights with each other between assignments. She was a citizen of Cyre before the Valenar annexed them. She joined the army shortly after. As it happened she was the first to notice his newly formed Dragonmark one morning.

Marek, fearing what it would mean for his posting, kept it hidden under his clothing. The two worked studiously to hide his new mark from all prying eyes. However it was only a few months later that she developed a mark as well. Just days before the Mourning she developed an aberrant mark on her thigh. Neither understood why, but they understood what it meant for them. She would be killed outright simply for bearing the mark if Lyrandar discovered it.

Fearful of what would happen they volunteered for a boarder patrol, intent on finding a way to get her across the boarder and to Metrol. Their plan was to hop the lightning rail bound of the Eldeen Reaches and never look back. Instead on their second day of patrols Cyre suddenly died. In the hours after the horrible event people came pouring out of the blasted wasteland, trying desperately to find help. Hundreds of people formed all around the smokey boarder and Valenar reigned them together.

In an instant the commanding officers passed down a death sentence to all refugees. Instead of simply push them out they were to be killed to the last survivor. In horror Marek and Mialee grabbed as many refugees as they could and fled north, trying to reach the Talenta Plains. At the boarder they were assaulted by Valenar and only barely managed to get half their charge across the boarder before the Halflings descended on them.

The refugees were taken, but so was Mialee. Her mark discovered they attempted to take her into custody. Marek, in a fit of fear, used his Dragonmark to assault the halflings and drive them away long enough for her to flee. But he was captured shortly after. Chided for his actions and threatened with excoriation for his crimes, he instead was given to the Sentinel Marshalls to be locked away.

Instead of being thrown in jail the Marshalls were paid and he was courted by a man claiming to offer a life better than that in a cell. It was then he was taken in and auditioned for the Hounds. From there he gallivanted all around the remaining nations. Working for whoever paid the most, much to the chagrin of House Deneith. But since the war ended the mercenary band fell on tougher times. Now he's traveling to Sharn for work, hoping to save enough coin to find Mialee someday.

Looks good, but for some reason your race shows as human while all your abilities are from a half-life.

@Cuan thank you for the interest, good luck in all your adventures.

@Seras Sorry Swashbuckler finesse is different since it allows any 1 handed piercing weapon to be Finessed,i view it more like a class ability then an actual feat.

As I thought, but it's worth asking.

Bonded Mind is good for now and the rest can be discussed as the chosen level up. That way, better decisions on Teamwork feats can be chosen.

Unfortunately I don't think I'll get my character finished for tonight, so I'm going to withdraw. Thank you for the opportunity though and the game looks like it's going to be great. Good luck to you and everyone who is still in the running.

I still hope to get a submission in, I was called away with work and have had trouble keeping up with posts here. But I've had a sit-down and I'm working on my backstory now.

I'm really loving the submissions so far, I'll have another quick glance and see if I can fit anyone into mine.

I ended up going with Human Shaman/Barbarian tribesman. Currently trying to piece together a backstory from my notes.

Supposed to be Half Elf. Botched the header.

@Lucky To bad, I wish you luck in your future adventures.

@Ictoo I wish you a speedy and fulfilling race to the finish line.

    @ExiledMimic That's what I figured.

@Everyone People have around 12 hrs to go, I'm giving you a couple more as it's RL gaming tonight and while I'll post responses to questions and such I won't close recruiting until after my game, which can end around 1ish or later here locally. So at the minimum you have 12 hrs which brings you till 1am Sat morning locally. Use your extra time wisely.

I present Bryn 'The Bull' Tirum, Barbarian/Shaman. I liked the code names everyone had, I felt Bryn being a brash man always charging in head first would be given Bull as a name. It fits quite well.

I haven’t really linked myself to many people here, I missed the boat on that but If I get in I’m sure we could polish that a bit. I did put myself in Angwar keep. So, people would know about me.

It’s light on ‘world’ stuff since I really do lack a lot of knowledge on it but I hope you can see intent :P I always find it hard dumping out loads of information like this, I have notes on my character and I’m always interested to see how they evolve as people play. I'm not 100% happy with his background.

But here he is, I think everything is correct. I used hero labs and there doesn’t seem to be any glaring errors.

Its super late but I got something I can be happy with, good luck to everyone!

Here's a neat trick - if you click (or hover over or whatever) on the time someone posted, you get a direct link to the post in question, like so.

    That is beautiful.

The joys of puttering around this place for such a long time. You learn all the tricks.

    ...also, I'm very old.

    Hows everyone doing?

...eagerly awaiting the horrifying revelations of whose in and who didn't make the very tight cut?

Nervously waiting for the good/bad news.

    Fingers crossed. :)

Well people it's that time, Recruitment is finally over and now my impossible task is about to begin. So good luck to you all and while I aim to have a decision by Sunday evening, it won't be easy. So feel free to continue asking questions and mingling with the rest of the potentials and I'll be as quick as I can

Cant wait to see final selections. Good luck to everyone.

    Good luck everyone!

Welp. Good luck, everyone. I'm gonna go knock out some Christmas shopping.

Give us a Will save vs Holiday Shipping Pipeline (DC 29) :P

I know it's hard to believe but I can actually leave my house and not collapse in anxiety for like three whole hours at least. :P

I did all my shopping over the last three months. With four kids and a limited budget you gotta plan ahead...lack of gifts makes children sad. All that's left now is some digital purchases.

I am good and everything was purchased online which is better these days than going to brick and mortar ... :-)

I just have to grab fresh ground coffee on Christmas Eve for the gramps and uncles then I’m done. Praise the speed of UPS on the my other orders xD

I'm not as fancy as you folk and go to stores, malls and outlets to do my shopping. Though the family is covered, so all that's left is Mistress Rahl and a loyal hound.

Don't forget Mistress Rahl's gift or Krampus will visit you ... lol.

I've been pretty bad at getting gifts this year, leaving it all to the last week isn't that and right?

Well Eberron fans, you've not made this easy, I spent the last 2 days with a small headsche trying to figure out who I wanted to tell the story of the Hounds with but with some dedicated reading of backstories and crunch I finally decided on three characters. First off I want to thank everyone who spent time on making my life difficult in this choosing, and everyone else as well. Just showing an interest show how much of an impact Eberron has made over the years.

Now onto the picking, so I would like to ask:

Threll Aeckson, Guardian XI, and Seras D'Cannith to join me in the discussion page.

For the others, I ask those that wish to be kept in reserve to raise their hand. Either way I again want to thank everyone for their interest and as much as I would like to I cannot run a second gorup I can't at this time.

Thank you everyone and good luck in all your future adventures.

Bum. Well, I'll raise a hand as a reserve.

Definitely want in reserve. Was hoping with all this interest you would have decided on more players in general(not just for me, but for all who applied with awesome characters).

1 person marked this as a favorite.

I seriously thought about it, but a larger number of players means more rework on the premade adventures that I currently unprepared for. That said who knows how things will go, I may expand or start a second game in the future.

I also raise a hand for reserve. Thank you for the consideration. And congratulations on the chosen 3.

Congrats to those chosen. Like the others, I'll put my name on the reserve list.

Have fun evergone who got chosen. You can add me to the reserves.

    Congratulations all!

shame I was too late for this. it looked cool
