Renn the Wanderer
|
Renn, seeing his friends all entranced, breaks into a song, working his volume to try to best that of their attackers.
Countersong: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9
Thanks, dice.
As he realizes his song isn't having the effect he desired, he steps back from the creature and swings his bow back around to his back (5ft, then move action).
| Dungeon Master S |
I forgot to mention that I do in fact offer my GM reroll to tables. It's currently 4 stars. It's up to the table if they want to use it now or later...
Seiran Leogil
|
I'd use my rerolls but since I failed twice.....Someone should do so.
Silgil
|
I'd like to see a reroll on that countersong.
| Dungeon Master S |
Reroll: 1d20 + 6 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 6 + 4 = 17
Renn's song pushes the insanity away! Everyone regains their senses. The undead make no change. Their insanity is their very essence and they continue to attack!
Round 1

Nemrok Blacktusk
|
Coming back to his senses Nemrok tries to identify the creatures.
Know. Religion: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17
Knowing it's an incorporeal undead he draws his wand of magic missile and uses it on one of them, the farest of them. Black one
Force Damages: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Use magic weapon or spells ! Nothing else will work except for holy water !
Silgil
|
"Huh. Wahh. "
Silgil is waxing eloquent again
Magic Missile: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5 aimed at the same one Nemrok tagged.
"Hey, Nemrok, wouldn't a wand of CLW would work too if you use it right."
| Dungeon Master S |
Nemrok and Silgil wax academically as they both use missiles of force to hit the creature to the east. It doesn't give in, but it does turn its attention.
Round 2

Peter: Go
Seiran: Go (Fascinated by Purple & Black (6 Rounds remaining) if Renn stops)

Peter Krauss
|
"Hit with a wand? Well..."
Peter was not sure if the idea would work, but probably his clever friends know more about this kind of creature than him.
The ranger draws his wand and use it against the "black thing".
melee atk?: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17
dmg: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
| Dungeon Master S |
Trusting in his friends, Peter tries to use a wand to harm the creature. Lo and behold it works! Will: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20, but it resists some of the magics.
Round 2
Helane: Go (Fascinated by Purple (6 Rounds remaining) if Renn stops)
Peter: CLW
Seiran: Go (Fascinated by Purple & Black (6 Rounds remaining) if Renn stops)
Baddies: TBD

Helane Tes
|
Recovered, somewhat, from her trance, and seeing that Peter seems to have black handled, Helane moves toward purple and releases an acid bolt.
Touch: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 1 = 161d6 ⇒ 3
| Dungeon Master S |
Helane's bolt lands, but much of it passes right through to the other side (though not all.)
Round 2
Helane: Acid (Fascinated by Purple (6 Rounds remaining) if Renn stops)
Peter: CLW
Seiran: Go (Fascinated by Purple & Black (6 Rounds remaining) if Renn stops)

Seiran Leogil
|
"Magic weapon?" Seiran sputters as he shakes himself from the fascination from the Alip and stares at his weapon.
Knowledge (Religion) 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9
Magic weapon at this level? Withdraw?
Nemrok Blacktusk
|
Seiran, you can use my wand of cure light wounds to attack these creatures. With it, you can even smite one !
Says Nemrok seeing Seiran looking at his weapon with doubt.
Having an oil of bless weapon for a warrior type is always a good option :)
Seiran Leogil
|
If I could, I would like to run back and get one now....
Chris Marsh
|
sadly, by the time Seiran bought one, it would be too late.

Seiran Leogil
|
Thanks Nemrock but that sounds so wrong....lol
Seiran Leogil
|
Sigh this is a bad situation for me.
Seiran waits for Nemrock, his fellow half orc, to pass him the wand as he sheathes his weapon knowing that it's useless in this situation.
| Dungeon Master S |
Seiran prepares, getting ready for the grim task. The undead close, reaching out to touch both Renn and Peter:
Purple v. Renn: Touch: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13 for WIS DMG: 1d4 ⇒ 4
Black v. Peter: Touch: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10 and misses!
Round 2
Helane: Acid (Fascinated by Purple (6 Rounds remaining) if Renn stops)
Peter: CLW
Seiran: Prep (Fascinated by Purple & Black (6 Rounds remaining) if Renn stops)
Baddies: ATK
Renn: Go
Silgil: Go (Fascinated by Purple (6 Rounds remaining) if Renn stops)
Nemrok: Go (Fascinated by Black (6 Rounds remaining) if Renn stops)
Black: 13
Purple: 1
Nemrok Blacktusk
|
Nemrok uses again his wand against the black incorporeal creature
Force Damages: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Then he takes a 5ft. step far from the creature and draw his wand of Cure light wounds
Take it Seiran !
Renn the Wanderer
|
Renn's eyes go wide as he feels his youthful wisdom flee. 6 Wisdom remaining.
"I... uh... oh?"
He struggles to continue his song, something about bravery in the space of daggers, or face of diggers... no, face of danger!
He stumbles backward, hoping his friends have what it takes to stop the apparitions.
Withdraw action. Free action to continue singing. 6rds remain.
Silgil
|
Standing firm, Silgil lashes out at black again, sending another magic missile it's way.
Magic Missile: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
"Make sure they don't get to Renn!"
Chris Marsh
|
The missiles add up, and the creature looks ever more transparent as the missiles break down its connection to this world.

Peter Krauss
|
Seeing that his wand hurts the creature, Peter uses it again on the black thing.
melee atk?: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17
dmg: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
"DIE!", shouts the ranger.
Seiran Leogil
|
Taking the wand, Seirn advances! He then jabs the wand towards teh creature all this while hoping it's the correct end!
Take A CLW! 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 171d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Helane Tes
|
Uncomfortable with how close the creature has come, and realizing she doesn't have much in her arsenal to help, Helane withdraws to the back of the room.
Withdraw action
| Dungeon Master S |
Peter and Seiran both connect with the creatures. The black creature dissolves into the tomb-light. The other beats a hasty retreat into the wall, never to be seen again...
Out of combat.
Seiran Leogil
|
Looking at the wand in hand, Seiran sheepishly returns it to Nemrock.
"My thanks."
Renn the Wanderer
|
Renn abruptly stops his song, collapsing to the floor and leaning heavily against the wall.
"Oh... my head... were we drinking earlier?"
Rubbing his eyes, he glances about.
"Is everyone, okay? And more importantly, did those creatures drop any treasure?"
He smiles... maybe that last part was a joke?
| Dungeon Master S |
As Renn looks about, he spies a ring that fell down with the party. It appears to be a simple gold ring etched to look like a feather.
Chris Marsh
|
It's certainly magic, but it's exactly properties, Renner can't identify.
-Posted with Wayfinder
Silgil
|
"Mind if I take a look?"
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15
Unfortunately, Silgil has no better luck than Renn.
Helane Tes
|
Helane rolls her eyes and grabs the ring from the men. She rolls it over in her hands and inspects the magical energies from it.
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (13) + 8 = 21
When she thinks she's figured it out she hands it back to Renn with a huff.
"Can we move on now? Surely there's more to explore than just this ring."
| Dungeon Master S |
Helane quickly determines that it's a ring of feather fall.
If I havne't mentioned it, when opening a door I like minis on the map in case it explodes or something.
Seiran Leogil
|
If Seiran isn't there, then Seiran will be the desingated door opener, feel free to move my mini there. If you need Seiran to search for traps? Sure. Don't blame me Seiran doesn't think the door is evil. :P
Seiran moves down towards the door and if given the all clear will open it.
| Dungeon Master S |
Seiran declares the door safe and opens the door to more hallways and rooms. The stairs lead to flooded or collapsed dead ends. One path, however, leads to something even more macabre than the classroom above.
Water drips from the double-vaulted ceiling and trickles down the walls to pool on the floor. Bone shards of a hundred skulls litter the room like shattered seashells. Wide stairs climb to the west. Narrow stairs dive to the north. On the south wall, an open doorway gapes, a carved relief depicting a massive battle filling the archway over the door. The rest of the walls are filled floor to ceiling with nooks that house ancient, but drenched, skeletal remains. In the center of the room sit twelve school children in a circle on the floor. One child seems to be silently telling a story, her arms moving rapidly as she makes scary faces.
Marlinchen immediately recognizes the spirit telling the story as his daughter Cassiel. He says, “See! Alive! I knew it!” and points at her. He nearly freezes as he simply looks on...
Helane Tes
|
My icon was gone, I assumed this wasn't intended to I added it back in.
"Marlinchen, would your daughter not be older if she had lived? I'm afraid dear that this is her spirit, perhaps you can talk to her and find out why she and her fellow students linger here?"
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
What she intends to be a consoling tone sounds, instead, harsh and uncaring. She turns to her companion for help reasoning with the man.
Chris Marsh
|
Not sure where your icon went...
He clearly doesn't like Helane's words "I would not say such things if I were you!"
-Posted with Wayfinder
Seiran Leogil
|
"Hold." Seiran whispers to Helane.
Turning to Marlinchen.
"Go to her. I do believe she's telling a story, perhaps you might want to listen in." He cajoles the obvioulsy insane man away....perhaps he might be safer there for now.
Let's try the 'soft' way diplomacy: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12
Silgil
|
diplo aid: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (17) - 1 = 16
Liking the direction Sieran is taking, Silgil chimes in and says, "That sounds like a really good idea. Why don't you go catch up for a bit?"
| Dungeon Master S |
The broken man stares at the party and then at his daughter. Tears stream down his face. He simply stares. He wanders into the room, in front of the vision of his daughter and... stares.
Feel free to do whatever you'd like, but include a trio of Perception checks. Once everyone rolls, we'll continue.

Renn waits around the corner, ready for the others to head into the room with the children despite the likelihood that they are in fact some sort of ghostly image.
