"perhaps leave the jokes to the professionals, you might hurt someone worse than your fancy sword would"
Cale Vatay |
he sighs "and what I dislike about half elves, would be their inferiority complexes, that need to prove yourselves, see my previous statement was a joke" he turns to the paladin " one that wasn't forced sounding, so that were it not funny or not recieved, it wouldn't be so much of a flop"
Fulito_Ferrywarden |
[Fulito gives up wanting to pet the weasel. he simply takes whats left of his food and moves around to another part of the table. sits down and pulls out his journal, a pen and his ink and begins to record the events of the day up till now.
one prevailing thought in his mind see...tension
Reda beliss |
if you've got anything but a flat tone, you may wanna mention it. We aren't mind readers. So far, i haven't described her speech as it's been flat and uninteresting. It's hard to call a joke when there is no "tone" denoting it. Remember, we can't see your tone.
"Yeah, yeah. I don't feel a need to "prove myself". In fact, I've done anything but, leaving a life that could have been much better because it was boring. My parents are rich. I just left them and everything behind, because having everything is /boring/."
her voice is slightly harsh, but mostly without tone.
Cale Vatay |
you could have just asked the weasel, and humor what apparently to you is a crazy person with a trained weasel.... then there might not have been so much tension
Cale Vatay |
"Fair enough, how about we just cool off, this is a time for joy and merriment, if we still feel like it we can beat each other senseless tomorrow" he looks to the halfling wondering why he didn't ask the weasel if she wanted to be pet
Eldon Underbough |
When the weasal is first produced, Eldon looks annoyed at best, especially when the word 'pet' is mentioned, but he does not intrude on the conversation, choosing instead to listen. It was not his place to judge others after all. What he did not like was others forcing their choices on the natural world - defenseless animals in particular. However, Cale's weasel did not seem like a captive, but more like a companion.
He continues his meal quietly, deciding not to impose his choice on the conversation, seeing as how it had drawn to an end.
Death_Keeper |
A sharp retort, like a crack of distant thunder, slices through the excited crowd as the sun's setting rays paint the western sky. A stray dog that has crawled under a nearby wagon to sleep starts awake and the buzz of two dozen conversations quickly hushes as all heads turn toward the central podium, where beaming Father Zantus has taken stage. He clears his throat, takes a breath to speak, and suddenly, a woman's scream slices through the air. A few moments later, another scream rises, then another.
Beyond them, a sudden surge of strange new voices rises--high pitched, tittering shrieks that sound not quite human. The crowd parts and something low to the ground races by, giggling with a disturbing glee as the stray dog gives a pained yelp and then collapses with a gurgle, its throat cut open from ear to ear. As blood pools around its head, the raucous sound of a strange song begins, chanted from shrill, scratchy voices.

He immediately stands, hearing the screams of needy citizens.
"What's happening?!"
He hefts his sword in his left hand, shield in his right.
He scans the lower areas of the crowd for threatening gremlins and things, spinning his longsword on its handle as he scans the crowds.

Fulito seems engrossed in his meal as the sudden thunder sounds throughout the area. His attantion turns toward the source to hear the good father give his speech.
As the new noises come to his ears Fuilito quickly puts his journal and writing supplies away and fumbles around to draw his sword. His stance and grip indicate that he carries a sword for show instead of use, clearly this little halfling has not trully engaged in a real combat.
Eldon Underbough |
As soon as the first scream rent the air, Eldon's meal lay abandoned as the halfling had retrieved his tool/weapon and began padding silently along towards the horrible noises, wracking his brain to if he could remember what creatures made sounds such as that.
Staying as much in cover as possible, Eldon surveys the scene. He was now both hunter and guardian, and his prey would regret what they had done.

Fulito and Eldon both spot a goblin under the wagon behind the dead dog... the eerie strains of goblin music wash over the group... you make out the words
"Goblins chew and goblins bite. Goblins cut and goblins fight. Stab the dog and cut the horse, Goblins eat and take by force!"
All around goblins are swarming, through the crowd, over tables behind barrels, chasing men and children, women and animals...
Swords drawn, fire in hand... people's lives are in danger...
Before you can act two goblins swarm toward the table Where you were sitting... the one under the wagon coming up behind

My current plan is to cast Entangle to attempt to prevent the goblins further attacking the villagers, but it is a 40ft radius spell, and I won't cast it if it will prevent innocents from fleeing the scene. Please advise if this is a good idea, as we do not have a battle map for me to determine this myself.

Seeing Cale take several painful hits, Eldon abandons his immediate thought of attempting to ensnare or distract the attackers and goes on the offensive, charging towards the goblin who had struck the wielder of the arcane, bringing his scythe down hard on the goblin, using all the strength in his small body.

I believe this will be mapless so I this will based on what Fulito can see on the battlefield.
With the sudden rush of goblins int the town square, Fulito stands motionless for a bit unsure what to do. soon it comes to him that the creatures are usually pretty dim.
He quickly pulls out his magical harmonica and plays a rather haunting melody directed toward a group of goblins.

Eldon Underbough |
With Reda's blade buried deep in the goblin's chest, Eldon is left without a target to fight, glancing around and seeing only unconscious or dead goblins left. His clicks the butt of his scythe onto the ground, the weapon unbloodied somewhat to the halfling's shame.
"There may be others, we should keep aware." Eldon says simply before looking at Cale, wincing slightly at the wounds.
"Allow me to heal you of your wounds, Cale. It was brave to come to the fight, even if both of us came for naught. It seems that the good Sir and Lady," motions here to Flint and Reda as appropriate. "Are skilled with their blades, and have saved the day, and many lives beside."

The town is full of chaos
Goblins are rushing everywhere, chasing townspeople with torches and their rusty, cobbled dogslicers... A particularly brave goblin had climbed onto a porch roof and leaped at some of the passerby below.. landing on its head with a sickening crunch.
Father Zantus hurries over to the group.

woo healed
Cale, now that he has his defenses up looks to go back on the offensive, his hands cackling with arcane power, that would only really look impressive to those who were mostly ignorant of the arcane, finding no conscious target for his magic he lets it fizzle
"thank you, as one with the means to stand up to the opposition, I was also in the position to have the responsibility the injuries were not life threatening, though your magic is much appreciated, ugh, blood all over my brand new robe,"
EDITseeing the commotion of more goblins "this however is unfortunate indeed, I didn't expect to have to use spells to fight today, I am woefully unprepared, still, those people need help"

"There's more to do. Quickly!"
He runs off to the group of goblins attacking towns folk. He targets the ones near people first, though not ones directly on people. Don't want to risk hurting people.
He goes to do this whether others follow him or not.
Presumably south?
