GET it?! Oh, so clever and subtle! ... or maybe not. (It's because it sounds like "therapy", which is a kind of "medicine", hence, "the best medicine" or laughter. Yeah, that's pretty baaaaaaaaaaad.)

Mhar thinks about this for a while, listening to a song from on high. Then, he says, "Together. Yes. Do you mind walking with me? I have an apology to make, as well as a repetition of your request to someone else."

Mhar would then either go with Thorrpe, or accept the idea of practice together and depart from Thorrpe for now with some practice time set aside for the 'morrow; either way he'd head off to find Jezelyn. After doing so...

Song of the Spirit and possibly a Shadow's Person Revisited:
Upon finding Jezelyn in the library (he'd accurately guessed at her general location by the song he'd heard her singing just a short time ago), Mhar would walk up to her.

"I would like to accept your offer. It took three people and a grand-high monk to kick sense into me, and I apologize for my earlier unintended rudeness. Thorrpe and I wish to learn our new abilities. You offered to practice with me. Please, practice with us, in the garden?"

Mhar would then, depending on their inclination, either go immediately to the garden, or get all three situated to practice magic together at the time originally set up with Thorrpe. He would set aside some practice time with them at all times, though he would not neglect his physical training just for magical training. He soon learns that he wields the mighty magic of... creating water... and mend slightly damaged things... and understanding languages. Uh... "impressive". Yeah, yeah, sure, that's the word. ;D

I know there were many questions asked and a lot to look through but I'm literally on my way out to the wedding. The water is 3 ft. high evenly, not enough changes to make that different. I'd assume 3 ft. puts it either at waist or chest level depending on your chosen height.

Besides that, I'll try and answer the rest when I get back late tonight. Very sorry for the delay in what is a fabulous rate of posting.

Actually 3ft. may well be drowning for small characters! Sense of proportion time!

(I'm running a game with mostly small characters so, upon reading this, I had to research and hence learn... and I'm taking you all with me! Mwahahahahahahahahahahahah! Er, I mean, uh, and now enjoy this education for our mutual edification. Yes. That is what I mean. Ahem.)

If you're 5ft. tall, it'd be chest-height. If you're 6ft. tall, it'd be waist height. If you're, say, 5ft. 6in. ... it'd be about mid-belly height, right in between.

Small size ranges from 2ft. tall (making them entirely under the water) to 4 ft. tall (making the upper part of their head the only thing showing.)

Medium on the same chart goes from 4ft. up to 8ft.

Gnomes would have two whole inches (at least!) guaranteed to be sticking up and may exceed it by as much as 8in. (enough size to cover their prodigious head?)... unless they're female, in which case they're entirely covered at minimum height, and only exceed it by 6in.

Halflings, on the other hand, are given no such guarantee. At best, the males might exceed the pond by 4in. and females by 2in. - definitely not enough for their heads.

Humans (which we are) are guaranteed to be above the water! Huzzah!

At an average of 5ft. 9in. for males and it'd be lower-belly (still juuuust above-waist) high (though probably close enough) for most humans (presuming "average" proportions, though many in real life obviously don't conform to this), and at an average of 5ft. 4in. for females, that puts it substantially higher on the belly... nearer the chest by 5in.

Hence... how do you round? I can see it being a serious question, though I hadn't thought of it prior.

I think Spirit of Kotei has the most elegant solution: is it closer to 2/3rd your height or half? Round accordingly.

Magic Practice: Simeon, Mhar, Thorrpe, and Jezelyn:

In response to Thorrpe's display, Jezelyn would perform several tricks with dancing lights and prestidigitation, and freeze a few leaves on nearby garden trees.
If she notices Simeon watching them practice, Jezelyn would finish whatever she was working on at that point, then smile and walk over toward him.
"Do you have any magical ability? If so, would you like to practice with us?"

I agree it has been quite difficult to figure out some of the new things this land has to offer, i have been up to the library several times trying to learn some of the history and advances that have happened in the past 300 years. Unfortunately i must say i have gotten no where. I think, if you dont mind, i will pick up on your idea and learn some of the herb lore of this new land hopefully these new ingredients are just as powerful as the ones 300 years ago.

Correct, but as I said, this is so we don't do 365 days of training to get anywhere. Feel free to RP time in between training of course!

I'll be checking through combat but I just realized that aside from answering questions, seeing as I'm not running actual enemies I can just post the "round 1 results" and then we move on to round 2! Will be done shortly!

For now, I will just boot my initiative by 1 and wait to hear if I also get the skill bonuses.
In the most recent post, the GM didn't specify, so it looks like I could get all three, but in a much earlier post, I think I remember the GM saying we would get to choose a bonus from some specific options, in which case, I would just get the one bonus.

Jezelyn would smile at Simeon.
"My magical ability does come naturally, although it has taken practice to hone it and develop it. However, I know there are some who learn magic, as opposed to being born with it. You are welcome to practice with us and see if anything occurs. Or, we could see if the library contains anything that could help you learn."

Here are my thoughts;

1. If you were a defender or made it on the raft, you receive +1 to acrobatics.

2. We all receive +1 knowledge.

3. All those who were injured, +1 to Init.

So at the very least, we all get #2. And the other two, you receive those if you qualify for them.

1st: excellent job, Rai! Had Jez fallen, between her damage and Thorrpe's ( and the others', though they are my closest allies) I would have tried halting the fight via Diplomacy (after a particularly dramatic healing surge; guess that'll have to wait 'till later :D) Good to know that diplomacy would have worked, at least in theory.

2nd: this is to teach us that things are unfair? (And/or lateral thinking?) Thus, I choose all three bonuses. To wit: 1) I know much of old Kotei, and thus would be able to progress forward toward the new, making the knowledge (local) logical; 2) I was on the raft and have acrobatics as a preferred skill from my old life, and have been retraining in that to a limited extent; and 3) I have been harmed by my "ally" the ship, my "ally" Vem's recklessness (nearly causing us to tumble over) and those who wounded others harmed my sensibilities greatly (I am loathe to see any of them coming close to death).

If others do not qualify for something, I use my newfound expertise to train them! Hence, bonuses for all!

That said, if the GM prohibits this for some reason (I can't imagine why - my logic is "flawless"... yes, that's the word... I'm just sure of it! :D) then... oh, man, I really don't know what I'd take. I suppose the knowledge (local) would be the strongest for my particular character, all-said.

I believe Spirit has said each training phase merely gives us a choice, which is the influenced by the choices we qualify for.

So someone like Jezelyn qualifies for +1 initiative because she was injured while Vem is not because obviously she took no damage.

This merely opens up the path for Jezelyn to chose this bonus, and is not conferred to her automatically, as per my understanding when Spirit first mentioned this training, we would always choose one bonus per exercise.

As soon as someone hits the water Thorrpe acts. He waves his hands and makes an odd shrill whistle as suddenly in front of Kite a dolphin appears, as it does Shadow winks out of existence in a puff of smoke, which flows into Thorrpe. The dolphin immediately charges Kite
