Dragonlance: Heroes of a New Age

Game Master Shalafi2412

What came before...:

Six months have passed since the War of Souls, an epic conflict that spanned the world of Krynn. After 39 years when the Gods have been silent and magic flowed unrestrained by the Moons, the Gods of Krynn have returned. The first among the Light, Paladine walks the earth as a mortal, while the Dark Queen Takhisis lies dead, leaving their places vacant among the heavens. Ansalon still bears scars of the decades where evil reigned upon the world in the Godless times. The Dark Knights of Neraka still subjugate numerous lands and the wicked minotaurs have begun a campaign of conquest. Many among the righteous and good have suffered in the Age of Mortals. Solamina's forces are weakened by the war, the elves are in exile, the Kender lands burned to ash and the dwarves in ever conflict with their darker brethren. Decades ago, the Companions saved the world from the brink of ruin. Now once again, heroes must rise and bring balance back to the world. Will you be among them?

I think that the squid is a great addition to the party!

The squid launches itself at one of the Fish-Men, the first strike missing but the second one grappling onto his face, efficiently blinding him as it squeezes and chews its target. (Blinded as a Nat 20 effect)

Athola then stabs and kills him.

As for Televalis his double magic missile assault takes down one of the Monitors.

The squid launches itself at one of the Fish-Men, the first strike missing but the second one grappling onto his face, efficiently blinding him as it squeezes and chews its target. (Blinded as a Nat 20 effect)

Athola then water flips over behind the blinded Toa and stabs him through the back of the throat, killing it efficently and freeing up the squid.

As for Televalis his double magic missile assault takes down one of the Monitors.

The other Monitor casts bless and then moves for cover behind an ally. The other Toa move in without provoking and stab various targets with tridents.

Wand Attack: 1d20 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 7 + 1 = 9

Unfortunately in his exuberance he mispronounces the command word and the wand fizzles out. He loses a charge and the wand will not function for the next minute.

Yap intones "DRAT! Bloody wand isn't working!" as he madly jumps around waving it.

The Tenticle from the squid hits but the bite unfortunately is deflected by the hide of the creature and the grapple fails to establish.

Athola stabs the flanked Toa but the first blow does not quite kill it, forcing him to use a 2nd stab to finish it off, sending its foul blood bleeding through the water.

The other cleric, there is two of them. One of them is downed from the Magic Missiles.

That was the bad guys attacking in Round 3, the bad guys all go before the group. We go after again because combat didn't start until Gabriel entered and they all had ready actions so they all went before him. So this is bottom of round 3 then bad guys will go again at top of round 4

Bite Damage: 1d4 + 10 ⇒ (3) + 10 = 13

Round 5

Master Yap is fed up with this and and pulls a scroll out of his pouch and uses it to cast Cone of Cold (The only one he has). He angles the cone so only enemies are hit.

Cold Damage: 9d6 ⇒ (6, 2, 2, 5, 1, 4, 4, 6, 4) = 34

2 Toa get frosted and are taken out by the blast. As for the Berserker 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18 he barely fails the save and takes 34 damage from the attack.

Yap Curses under his breath in draconian. He had to pay a good deal of coin to buy that at the tower.

Round 4

Gabriel stabs at the one to his left two more times

Trident attack: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (19) + 15 = 34

The Magic Missile strikes the Monitor but since he's healed himself he is still alive from the assault.

Round 5 Start

Master Yap moves over and points his hand at Beserker and shoots a blast of ice at him.

Frost Ray: 1d20 + 7 + 1 - 4 ⇒ (19) + 7 + 1 - 4 = 23

Gabriel attacks the one off to the left. Stabbing two more times.

Gabriel hits a Toa twice wounding it badly.

The Toa warriors have a HP of 21 so that is what you need to take one out.

Gabriel, Jor and Athola ganging up on the berserk Shark/Fish man eventually overpowers him and he's taken down. Its the end of combat.

You find yourself in a large star shaped area, seemingly forged of beautiful coral, likely by magical means. There appears to be 5 hallways as well as 5 doors that look similar to the one you came into. Of course being in this room is rather uncomfortable for air-breathers. While the water breathing spell lets you survive in here its an odd sensation to breathe water and the taste of salt is constant on your lips. Bodies of dead Toa litter the room lying on the floor. Looking up you actually see that the water in this area actually serves a purpose. Looking up you see that there is an upper floor above, thus allowing easy 3 dimensional movement between the lower and upper floors.

What do you do now?

It would appear that our captors will know that we have been freed from captivity and very likely will being a moblization about us. I recommend that we find the rest of the items of power in order that we will have a greater chance of success.

She groans as she speaks, Could do with some healing. They were plenty.

We definitely need to find our gear.

Female Human Cleric 9 | HP = 61/71 - AC=23 - Channel 0/9 - Tear 11/20 - Hero Points 1/1 - Fort +9, Ref +4, Will +13 - Ini +1 - Per +14 Cleric 9

Alathea will begin to convert further spells to positive energy for hr injured allies.

CMW Athola - 2d8 + 9 ⇒ (8, 7) + 9 = 24
CMW Athola - 2d8 + 9 ⇒ (5, 8) + 9 = 22

CLW Jor - 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8

CLW Gabriel - 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13

CMW Self - 2d8 + 9 ⇒ (5, 1) + 9 = 15

Alathea sighs, "Agreed, we need to find our Gear, I am almost out of power and once I am I have not even a weapon to be useful to any of you".

Is there any gear hear from the kuo-toa that the cleric can use?

As Alathea move to heal Gabriel.

"No need my lady. I am able to heal my own wounds still. I do not need a focus of my god. Please save the magic for the others."

He nods in agreement.

"Yes let us look for our weapons, but where to start? The two that ran would presumably run to gather more men. I would guess our things would not be stored that way. So that leave going up to another floor."

HP: 96 | AC:20 / Touch: 12 / FF: 16 | Init +4 | Perception +12 | Fort: +9 / Refl: +7 / Will: +4

Wiping the blood of his sticks and sighing from the disappointed, Jor looks at others and shrugs "Does not matter what we do, point is that we have to move. We cant stay here and wait for them to come with more mages or soldiers."

DM I will apply Gabriel's CLW to myself to be healed fully.

Searching the bodies you don't find much. Most of the good stuff is on the dead beserker. You find the following:

potion of cure moderate wounds
bracers of armor +1
masterwork heavy underwater crossbow with 10 bolts and 2 shock bolts

The rest of the Toa have standard gear for their type, Trident, Underwater crossbow but the Monitors each have 2 cure light and 1 cure moderate potion (So a total of 4 cure light and 2 cure moderate potions). The Monitors also have pincer staffs instead of Tridents.

So where do you go next?
