I like Riddick's build and think he would be a good RPer. I am a little worried about the Androgenous thing because I have played in a campaign with a character like that in the past and it took over the game. It had been a really good campaign until the player got flamboyant. He even started hitting on male characters. It got obnoxious and graphic. Players dropped one by one. I would like a little description of how you plan to RP the character (no spoilers of course). I am playing a LG Paladin and with a CN bard who serves a deity who is at odds with my deity, I am a little concerned. You may not be going this direction and if that is the case, you have my vote. I think you said you weren't extremely familiar with Dragonlance. While that isn't overly important, you might not know about the knights of Solamnia. They can not tolerate questionable behavior in their party. Do you mind giving a bit more information?

Damn, of coarse I would see this after you've already pretty much filled the party, and have a Knight of Solamnia and Wizard of High Sorcery....sigh. I'm a long time fan and have all of the Margaret Weis Productions Dragonlance sourcebooks (except one, Towers of High Sorcery). Good luck to you all and have fun.

My character submitted probably would have been, Drake Steelwind, a LG Solamnic Human looking to become a Fighter 1/Cleric 9 of Kiri-Jolith/Knight of the Sword 10, using the Knight of the Sword prestige class and Clerist archetype from Knightly Orders of Ansalon. Drake's main goal is to see the restoration of glory to the Knighthood, and to see Palanthas, and eventually of all Solamnia, rid of the tyranny of the Dark Knights and reunited.

Or Xaraven Arcanrae, a NG Silvanesti Elf Evoker, looking towards the White Robes and possibly the War Mage prestige class from the Age of Mortals sourcebook. His mission in life is to expel the minotaur scum and retake his homeland with his people, to do that he needs power, and the best way to achieve power is to adventure.

Oh, for the person who said Mishakal sounded LG, she is actually NG, and her domain list from Holy Orders of the Stars is Community, Good, Healing, Liberation, and Protection. I would also possibly recommend the Healing Hand of Mishakal prestige class from the same book.

Here is a great link to a website for someone elses Dragonlance campaign, in which they have converted almost all of the 3.5 DL stuff to Pathfinder, scroll to the bottom and click on the archetypes and prestige classes link to see the full list of those.

I agree with this as well. I wouldn't want to have to defend myself against that kind of behavior..

It may be a non issue. I just want to make sure. :)

Very very true, that would just be.. Unpleasant in my opinion,

Knowing that he would have to be on the road and under possible attack by bandits and other creatures of the wilderness, Jackin took an unconventional method of training by seeking out a warrior to train him in close combat. He took to both methods with ease and it was not long before, after some basic research for leads as to were to begin his quest, was given leave to travel to Khur.

Are we rolling gold(steel) or taking average or max? :)

Not 100% sure, but I did average

Good to see you are back Arknight. For starting money you should use the average for your class, no rolling. As for your character, it looks good so far. And a mender to boot. You are in the running for the 6th position. I just want to hear back from the others before I make my decision. Thanks for the character work. I hope to make my final decision tomorrow.

Yeah I agree with this as well. I am willing to give Riddick the benefit of the doubt here, but I don't want to see this RP quirk destroy the game.

Oh sure, now I come across a dragonlance recruit thread, and the group is made. Grrrr.
Well, since u got your 6, no need to submit.

don't have strong feelings either way, but do agree that an off-divine healer would be a good addition in case my meat-shield - i mean- minotaur friend -- fails to protect me adequately...I can be okay either way.

I was out all day with a friend so...uh..yeah what people are concerned about:

1) He cross dresses for the part as the elven harp maiden at his father's inn and to pass as his father's daughter which is more of a development on Willam's character more than Riddick's as it represents Willam's obsession with his mother. That and not having to pretend he's a girl all the time would be a nice change for him

2) Passing as an elf is WAY easier with feminine features in my opinion.

3) If for whatever reason Riddick even gets romantically involved with anyone, I've always done it with 'fade to black.' And I've only had one IC relationship ever playing D&D...and we just 'faded to black' and it didn't disrupt anything or play a central role in any situation whatsoever.

4) Branchala's at odds with your god Gareth? I thought he was allied with all the good aligned gods...unless his god is LN or something. What were you concerned about exactly?

Good enough for me!

Well, it's kind of a bummer getting passed over, but I'm ok with it. I did have one rebuttal, though: a 14 charisma works fine for a sorcerer who plans to be in melee eventually with the dragon disciple prestige class. Boosting cha at intervals ensures spells of all levels are castable, and the d12 HD of the PC makes a mino sorcerer surprisingly tough, at least according to the casual theorycrafting I've done.

It's ok though, I'll have him ready next time someone goes on a Dragonlance kick, and be like "Dragonlance? BAM! minotaur. let's roll."

Well it seems like choices have been made. Have a great games guys and guys masquerading as girls ;-)

This is not an issue. I was just bringing up differences. It could make for fun RP. My only concern was the possibility of flamboyant behavior. You have responded to that so I am good. Thank you for responding.

Tell me about it - but as you Kharon have put it so adequately: I am OK with it. If there is a need for replacement somewhere down the line, feel free to contact me. I wish you a great game, cheers.

Overhaul on Enistus; the change in deity demands it. He would make a good backup as well- pretty easy to work him in as a druid, that is, if he doesn't make the initial cast. In any case, I like this change, and simply enjoyed (re)making him. Several changes to statblock, but nothing role-changing, he's still a melee skirmisher/support caster.

Enistus, faithful of Habbakuk:
This is not the life I wanted.

I decided this when forced to lay low a lone hobgoblin, the moments of realization remaining clear to me. For me, there is no desire to wish for another fate, because I have learned what it means to persevere. There's little more needed than this. Though I've always been a persistent man, it was only in ignorance. Only because there was nothing else for me. It should have been a restless, lonely life. But this is better, allying magic and nature. Perhaps not as enjoyable, but certainly better than it was.

My place was at the docks of Ak-Khurman, not but a common worker a year ago. Perhaps 'common' is misleading- I am a powerful man, much more so now than then. There are few weapons that I've devoted to learning, and as few books that I have seen. My new strength... the power of faith... it is invigorating. All of it came at first from a Medallion of Faith, as it is called, though it surely was never meant to find itself in my hands. But it did. I don't remember if I bought it years before, had it handed to me from my mother, or simply found it as a child. First came dreams, of a city in shallow water, lands rarely visited by nomads, and then myself wielding powerful magic. Like a man in teen years, I felt compelled to explore the power of faith. When a petty worker tried to remove the medallion from my chest and caused trouble, I left Ak-Khurman. I knew of Habbakuk from the tales of sailors. It was time to learn more of the god who would be my benefactor.

The elven refugees who spoke common had much more to say of Habbakuk. Some found it odd that I bore such a medallion and had so little to say of the faith, some even sought to relieve me of it in their own ways. I believed that Habbakuk was trying to speak to me, though doubt lingered. Like many wild sorcerers or mystics, the land became my classroom. For the first time, the world spoke, making a willing student out of me. Eventually, a wolf wounded by an arrow lay in my path, doomed to a premature death by the hands of humans. It was in this moment that I truly felt Habbakuk take notice in me. Spontaneously, driven by a desire to simply let live, I treated the wolf, and it did not retaliate. It was for this meeting that he came to be called Mortal. My first true companion, the one who taught me true loyalty. And with those teachings, so too came the understanding of druidic magic.

What amazing abilities magic gives! Tumbling mists, boosts of speed, arcane-like fire, and more. Much was used in the learning, little in service, but I knew that Habbakuk's teachings were somehow revealing themselves to me. It was then that I encountered that lone hobgoblin. It seemed surprised, but didn't hesitate in attacking. Mortal ultimately allowed me to survive, and reminded me of friends in Ak-Khurman. Then I realized it. These gifts weren't for me to play with. I had to return to give my part to the world I am part of. I understand why, but...

This is not the life I wanted.

Awesome write up Enistus! You and Riddick both have very strong submissions and I would be happy to have the opportunity to RP with either of you! Good luck!

You guys make me feel bad for suggesting anyone :/
I'll take you allll! But there isnt room for that. . . :(

Well then, after much deliberation I have decided on a character who will fill our 6th player role. In the end its a decision between versatility or focus. So far we've got two solid front line warriors, an arcane support, a divine support character and a sneaky skulldugger. What the party lacks is a solid ranged support character. As we already have 3 humans in the group so a 4th human would probably made the party maybe too human centric. The Druid Enistus by the looks of him is another melee style character. By the looks of him he's focused highly on his Melee skills, something we got covered quite well already. As for the toss up between a Bard and a Magus its tough. A Magus can be good with both ranged and melee support in combat while a bard would provide good skill support. Still between the Wizard and the Rogue we've already got a good knowledge based group. There is also the questionable issue of his androgynous gender that has some players concerned. Jackin Foolquest on the other hand could provide some backup arcane support and switch well between the two extremes. Also having a kender in the group should provide at least some comic relief as well add a Kender perspective to the group dynamic. So in the end the coin was tossed and I've made my final decision. Jackin Foolquest will be joining our band of adventurers.

Thank you everyone applying for the game. I'll be creating the room soon and start posting introductions to give some back-story to your characters, but the adventure officially begins in the town of Pashin. You will all have a reason to be there. So let the adventure begin!

Congrats Jackin! Kender Power!

It looks like Foolquest has flown the coop. I'll still run the game with five but just announcing there is an open slot in case a new player (or one of the old players) wish to jump into the action.

\o/ (I mean, sorry to hear that.)

Still watching. And good to join.

Also making a ranged caster alternate build that will require a minimal change of back-story.

So, what's the (still not official) missing class/role?

Presenting Enistus, spellcaster focus alternate. This build features no animal companion, but you could allow him to have a pet wolf to preserve the potential roleplay value, or merely ask that I keep Mortal instead of taking the Ocean domain.

Good to see you wanting to jump in Enistus. I'ed need to know why an Ocean Druid would be in Pashin though. You're at least 10 day's travel to the nearest ocean and in a desert, pretty far from the lands you'ed take as your charge.

As for the 6th slot, someone with some ranged skills or a jack of all trades would fill the role nicely.

Dang it :( I just completely missed the last bit of this thread :(

As Jackin is replaced I'd definitely like to be on an alternates list :)

Having the Ocean domain stems from his visions, more strongly with "The Fisher King" depiction of Habbakuk. The previous owner of his medallion having been of this particular domain, and having been born in a coastal city, this connection stems not from his habits, but of his origins. His habits, being particularly fresh, have yet to reach a state that he can even relate strongly of what Habbakuk demands of him; though he seeks such knowledge.

He comes to the desert, to Pashin, expecting his ability to conjure water and make meals of berries to be of aid, or at least of value. He does not seek wealth, but seeks a way for him to apply these new talents gainfully. He is folly in not seeking the guidance of other priests, but he is not ignorant, going in search of answers as to how to best be exactly what he believes himself to be.
