Hey folks, interest check and applications for PFS #4-09, The Blakros Matrimony. Applications will close the Monday, the 20th.

This is a PFS module and I will be assigning chronicle sheets for this.

I have a fair amount of experience GMing and playing Pathfinder. I have played PBP, and GMed non-Pathfinder PBP games. This is my first time PBP-GMing Pathfinder.

(I feel like I'm applying for a job, here.)

Anyway that's me, and now for you!

You should be...:
You should be:

-In possession of a PFS-legal character, Level 3, 4, 5, 6, or 7. There will be no playing down of 7+, or playing up of 2s considered. I will decide whether we are running tier 3-4 or tier 6-7 based on who applies.

-Able and willing to ROLEPLAY. That doesn't mean you must only apply with 'face' classes-- you don't have to GOOD at Diplomacy to roleplay a diplomatic encounter, you just have to be able to enjoy it as a player. If you are do not really like the roleplay aspects of a scenario, this is not the scenario for you. (Also I'm not the GM for you, but this is definitely not the scenario for you.)

-Able to tag the thread at least once every two days-- the more often, the better, of course, but I will be enforcing a two-day minimum. If we are waiting for your tag and 48 hours have passed, I will assume your character does something reasonable to the situation and roll as needed, and/or assume they delay. I will be tagging at least once a day, barring emergencies on my end.

-Able to trust the GM making rolls for you. I will roll some of your checks like Perception/Diplo/Sense Motive and some saving throws, and narrate the results for you, rather than list things in terms of numbers. You'll have to trust that I'm not cheating or trying to screw you over.

If this sounds like a game for you, post your deets! Applications formatted in the Pathfinder-standard stat block are preferred but not necessarily required; while I do need to know your mechanical details, I am more interested in hearing who your character IS.

Along with stats, give me some personality, back-story, and a brief description of what NPCs see when they look at your character.

If you have any questions, ask away, and thanks for your interest!

The Exchange

I present Filios Philandril, Elf, Rogue (Swashbuckler)/Level 3 for your consideration. I am in possession of the chronicle sheet from my last PFS, and I will complete his update to Level 3 tomorrow.

The Exchange

Filios leveled to Level 3 - PFS #44418-1.

I only have a level 1 that is working through the first steps but I'd be happy to play a pregen

RPG Superstar 2015 Top 16

Thanks for your application and interest, Filios!

Hawktitan, I'd prefer people to be playing their own characters, but I won't draw that line hard in the sand. If I do not get enough other applicants, I'll permit applicants to play pregens.

Liberty's Edge

A Tian woman enters the room, her appearance a curious mixture of battle-readiness and fashionable flair, of western design and eastern sensibilities; both her well-made plate armor and curved scythe are decorated with engravings in traditional Tian styles. Moving with both grace and determination, she greets those already present with a gentle smile and a respectful bow.

"It is a pleasure to meet you this fine morning," she says warmly, her voice noticeably accented. "My name is Saki Kanazawa, devoted follower of the Lady of Chrysanthemums."

----------

Throwing Saki in the ring. She's a Paladin 3, PFS #10321-1. Check out the profile for her stats, appearance, and backstory.

Scarab Sages

A man of a very eclectic background enters the room. The slender eyes and slender body of a Tien and the long limbs and blondish hair of a Varisian. His hair he keeps long and unbraided in any form. His eyes match his chiseled features as if he were carved from steel. On missions he dresses typically as seen when fighting in the ring; loose pants, with leggings and hand wraps fitted over his limbs. His arms are wrapped at the biceps, Pra Jiad, and wears a loose, sleeveless shirt. His head adorns a Mongkhon, a common headband among the fighters in Goka. Around his neck are multiple wooden holy symbols, so that he may give each god the respect they are due.

He simply bows and sits crossed legged on the ground and nods at the other two.

Alan is a level 3 master of many styles avowed monk. I will update his profile shortly. PFS #19327-1
P.S. Good to see you Filios. This is DaWay.

The Exchange

Hey DaWay...awesome to see you on here! Any chance of bringing over some of our common comrades? We could use a few more.

RPG Superstar 2015 Top 16

Thank you, Alan and Saki, for your interest and applications!

Liberty's Edge

I might be interested but the character I'd be bringing would be hilariously inappropriate.

RPG Superstar 2015 Top 16

Like I said, the character doesn't need to be GOOD at the face-stuff as long as you as the player can enjoy scenes where they might just muck it up. Having played Blakros, some of the funniest scenes came about as a result of our fighter being like '**** this talking crap' and flipping tables.

Of course, you have to be willing to OOCly accept the consequences of that. :P

Liberty's Edge

Alright, I'm tentatively in.

I'll be bringing my tiefling rogue. He's studly with his high strength and charisma but dumb as a box of rocks (5 int).

The Exchange

Feral's rogue.

Scarab Sages

Wow, this is a lot of skill characters.
Question, DM dien, if accepted into the group would I be allowed to drink my emerald elixir for they permanent mutation? If so, 1d20 ⇒ 5

Scarab Sages

That would be a water mutation which effects my musculature. My carrying capacity is increased as if my strength were 2 points higher. Kind of cool.

The Exchange

I was actually going to ask if anyone else had the boon!

If we drink them together we get to choose.

Scarab Sages

That's cool with me, I was just rolling in hopes of getting a 20.

I liked the one I got, The eating/drinking half as much and low-light vision ones.

Grand Lodge

I am almost through the last mission I need to make level three.

I will ask our GM if I will be done in time.

Dwarf Zen archer monk hoping to finally use 19 wisdom rather than his 13 dex to hit with his arrows.

Feel free to check out my alias for Jory's RP.

He is not a face, but he does provide comic relief.

Scarab Sages

Long time no see Jory, not since our time with Dakang in the Temple of Empyreal Enlightenment.

The Exchange

Hey Jory! Good to see another familiar face.

The Exchange

Dien...do you have enough sumbissions? When are you planning on closing the recruitmennt and opening the gamethread?

RPG Superstar 2015 Top 16

Per the original post, I'm keeping the thread open til Monday the 20th. Looks like we have enough already but I'll see if there's any late-comers.

Thanks everyone for your applications so far-- Jory sounds hilarious. Hopefully your GM will say you're free soon.

Alan, yes, you may use the emerald elixir, but I'll have to honor-system trust you're marking it off on your end, etc.

As for when gameplay will start, if Jory's game is done soon (like within this coming week) then we'll try and wait so he can join us. If it winds up being longer than that we'll just get going without him (sorry bro).

The Exchange

Thanks!

Scarab Sages

I'll send you a copy of the PDF and you can sign off on it.

So, recapping what we have here:

Filios Philandril, Elf Rogue 3
Saki Kanazawa, Human Paladin 3
Alan Baird a'Lorien, Human Monk 3
Krunch, Tiefling Rogue 2/Monk 1
Jory Redcap, Dwarf Monk 3maaaaybe

(With interest from Hawktitan in playing a pregen, but since there are 5 players with chars at level, I'll have to say no to you, Hawk, unless someone drops out. Good luck finding a game at that level!)

Not only is it a skill-heavy party, it's a lot of monk up in here, ha. Which is fine, I just don't think I've ever seen a party balanced quite like this. Pssht, who needs arcane? :)

Anyway, I'll see if we get one more person of level before Monday. Jory, let us know when you can play so I can let you know if you're in or not.

And Alan, that sounds fine re: the sheet.

The Exchange

Sounds good to me. I prefer smaller parties anyway. =)

Liberty's Edge

A bunch of monks, a paladin with Improved Unarmed Strike and... Filios. Someone needs to take up unarmed combat methinks. :P

Scarab Sages

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Well, it would be bad form to show up to a wedding armed wouldn't it?

What, no levels of monk? CLEARLY YOU ARE IN THE WRONG PARTY SIR.

(I jest, thank you for your application.)

Liberty's Edge

@GM,

I just put Saki into HeroLab to do some error checking, and came up with a few mistakes that I've now corrected (forgetting to add/mixing up a couple of possessions on my item list, miscalculating my current gp, and miscalculating a few skill ranks). If you notice anything that's changed, that's why. :)

Silver Crusade

So we've got a party made up entirely of level 3s (some of whom just hit that level) in a season 4 scenario. Is this wise?

Also, applying with Kardak. He just finished Thornkeep, and I should have him leveled in a day or two.

Are you asking me if it's wise, or the other players? >:)

Alrighty, thank you for the app!

Good to know, Saki. I'll be going over apps more closely once the party's finalized, but I'm not planning on fine-tooth-combing them, so it's mostly on you guys to make sure your sheets are correct. Thanks for the heads-up all the same!

Scarab Sages

And yet another familiar face.

Alan nods at maps.

The Exchange

Indeed...Hey Maps!

Scarab Sages

Heard there's a wedding in need of bullets. If you need help, I'll give it a shot.

Liberty's Edge

I would hope that the wedding does not require bullets at all, sir... it would be terrible for violence to interrupt their celebration of holy matrimony!

Scarab Sages

Sometimes it takes a bullet or two to insure the groom's participation.

The Exchange

Depending on if the rabbit died, or not. lol

Scarab Sages

This is a wedding of the Blakros family, a Chelaxian one, I would wager this union is more for station than romance. It would be a contract to be recognized and fulfilled nothing more. Calling this holy would be the same as me putting frosting on deer scat and calling it a pastry.

Liberty's Edge

Saki sighs. I certainly hope you're not correct about that, Alan, but I've seen it happen all too often. I just hope that they can find love after their marriage--whether with each other or someone else.

It is a terrible shame that the institution is often abused like that...

The Exchange

"Krunch hopes Amara Li doesn't make him wear tight itchy clothes."

"Krunch hates tight itchy clothes."

Scarab Sages

Ah, but Krunch you would like your finest in a silk kimono, perhaps Saki could help you look your loveliest.

Liberty's Edge

Saki eyes up Krunch, apparently unfazed by his rather grotesque outward appearance. "I'm sure we could organise something, I know some fabulous seamstresses in Absalom that could custom fit you to a suit of some kind!" she says with a teasing smile.

The Exchange

The hulking pitborn guffaws and looks sullen only to appear mildly interested a moment later.

"Pretty seamstresses...?"

Scarab Sages

Chelaxian, huh. Maps loads a silver bullet.

Maps was the next to get in an app, so, he'll be 6th and final player depending on Jory's availability. I've PMed Jory to see when he can get started; if it's too far away Kardak has dibs on 6th party slot.

Technically still accepting application but giving priority to those people already mentioned.

And y'all are amusing me with the pre-game fun. What a group of wedding crashers, indeed.

The Exchange

Filios smirks...

Never believed much in the whole idea of mating for life. Too much life to live and too much fun mating for one night a time.
