MIDN. Cedrick Dragonne |
"What, you think you can fight us? Look at your men already bested, look how they fared when readied for assault, they may have given a good account, but to no avail... don't be stupid, lay down your arms or face a nastier fate - you can't beat us"
Braggart - 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14 30' Radius, vs DC10+Wismod+Hd.
Cedrick holds his shortsword meaningfully, but has not yet advanced.
Nachni Charan |
Round 6
Sense Motive 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 1 = 14
"A bad idea to go any further gentlemen. In fact, why don't you all take a seat." Nachni flicks a bit of pilfered butter at the deck by the sailors in front of her and murmurs an incantation. Casts grease on C4, C5, B4, B5 (DC 14)
DM - Voice of the Voiceless |
Cedrick's words of warning take root in the hearts of the sailors as they appear a little more unsure of themselves. 1 round duration
Meanwhile Nachni conjures a slick coating for the boards beneath their feet...
Reflex: 1d20 + 1 - 2 ⇒ (10) + 1 - 2 = 9
Reflex: 1d20 + 1 - 2 ⇒ (6) + 1 - 2 = 5
...sending two of the four assailants to the deck with a painful thump.
You get the feeling that the sailors understand the words you're saying, but they fear what they are fleeing from more than you... and are unlikely to yield if it means opening themselves to it's tender mercies.
No action from Deader or Joneth?
Obisyth |
I should be standing 10' away from them at the bottom of the steps I believe.
You have chosen poorly.
Obisyth steps forward to put one of the prone sailors out of its misery.
Attack:1d20 + 6 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 6 + 4 = 14 +1 BAB, +4 Str, +1 Enhancement, +4 Prone
Damage: 2d6 + 7 ⇒ (2, 6) + 7 = 15
DM - Voice of the Voiceless |
Joneth vaults lithely to the main deck as Deader affixes the newly come targets with an askew glance.
The two prone sailors crawl free of the greased deck...
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22 and 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17
...and regain their feet. The other two step up to the indifferent Deader and lunge forward to stab with their swords...
Short Sword: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 = 15 for 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Short Sword: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18 for 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
...both swords opening wounds on the unsettling tiefling's body.
Back to you guys for Round 7 Actions.
MIDN. Cedrick Dragonne |
Cedrick steps towards the opponents, in support of Deader... seeing the sailors might make an attempt at the boats, Cedrick chooses that side to move into...
E8
Then swings with the sword.
Attack 1d20 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 5 + 2 = 19(Intimdated target bonus)
Damage 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
John Rhasp |
"Hey!" Deader says, surprised but not really seeming to terribly upset by the unexpected attacks. Stepping back away from the sailors, Deader grumbled about what was left of his burned shirt getting blood on it.
"How would you like it if someone did that to you?"
Murderous Command, DC 14 will save
Obisyth |
Obisyth sighs: Is surrender really worse than death?
Move to D6 and attack D7 who I think is now flanked by me and Cedrick.
Attack-club: 1d20 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 6 + 2 = 24 <-- +2 flanking -- add +2 if intimidated
Damage: 2d6 + 7 ⇒ (6, 5) + 7 = 18
With a sickening crunch Obi's glowing green club leaves yet another former sailor with his skull in a rather unusual concave shape.
Joneth Revane |
Joneth joins the rest in attacking the sailors, who seem to find death a more welcome fate to surrendering. The tiefling moves forward and tries a fast stabbing strike, aiming to slide his blade between his opponent's ribs.
Round 7
Moving to D5 and attacking the one at C6.
Melee attack (masterwork dagger): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8
Damage (piercing): 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
DM - Voice of the Voiceless |
Nachni's sinuous lash is ill aimed and coils around a railing rather than it's intended target. Fish's aim is also spoiled, as she dares not risk friendly fire.
Deader's voice takes a sinister turn...
Will: 1d20 ⇒ 3 and 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10 for 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
...forcing one of the sailors to turn on the other, though to his relief his aim is wide.
However relief is fleeting, and Cedrick opens a sailor's arm and Obisyth follows by collapsing the other's ribcage entire. One goes down leaking frothy blood while the other stands yet.
Joneth moves against the Northern sailors but his dagger strike does not draw blood.
Of the three still drawing breath, two move to try and bleed out the one with the heavy club...
SSword on Obisyth: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19 for 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
SSword on Obisyth: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20 for 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
...both striking flesh with healthy force.
The third takes a momentary advantage of the fact he is not beset by enemies to work at releasing the Northern boat.
Ahead of you through the mist the battle continues. You catch a glimpse of a bloodied Captain Harrigan emerge from below holding a man's heart in one hand. He takes a healthy bite of the organ and grins a bloody smile as the fog hides him once more.
Round 8 for the merry crew.
Obisyth |
Being rather surprised that these soldiers would even dare to strike her, Obi's next swing misses the intended target.
Attack-C6: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8
Damage: 2d6 + 7 ⇒ (5, 6) + 7 = 18
Ouch, that was not nice. You might want to jump overboard and deal with the sharks about now before this little stick finds its mark.
MIDN. Cedrick Dragonne |
R8
Cedrick continues to move about, cutting off the southern boat (D8) whilst slashing with his shortsword.
Attack 1d20 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 5 + 2 = 15(Flanking)
Damage 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
Obisyth |
Next Round - to keep things going.
Obi turns and decides to make the other soon-to-be-former sailor why attacking her was a bad idea.
Attack-club: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26
Damage: 2d6 + 7 ⇒ (2, 4) + 7 = 13
DM - Voice of the Voiceless |
Cedrick - these guys are just common sailors, 2 HD and he'd already had 6 damage on him. So your 9 on top makes 15.
Obisyth - I'll let you keep the rolls today - but please don't post out of round order... I know things might move a little slow at times, but I prefer to keep the chaos controlled and posting out of order just makes things messy.
Joneth's knife finds flesh and...
Will Save: 1d20 ⇒ 9
...the Northern sailor is unable to resist Nachni's spell - falling to the ground as he attempts to overcome the urge to cackle maniacally.
The sailor by the boat desperately attempts to come to his senses...
Will Save: 1d20 ⇒ 6
...but is unable to shake the hold Nachni's spell has on his mind.
The sole sailor still on his feet lunges for the aquatic opressor with the club...
Short sword on Obisyth: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 2 = 21 for 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Crit: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13 for 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
...managing a skillful thrust, but his weight was not behind it - leading to a shallow cut.
Obisyth then returns fire and blasts the man off his feet and back into the fog behind him.
Round 9 for the merry crew (except Obisyth, who has already acted) - only C3 is still active, though prone and laughing.
No map as I'm at work.
MIDN. Cedrick Dragonne |
R9
Cedrick holds his position, defending the boat... sword at the ready for anyone who approaches.
Thats awesome, I thought they were going to be tougher... was a bit worried :P
Obisyth |
Obisyth looks at her glowing green club and contemplates how she will describe the crushing defeat her opponents seem to have suffered. And waiting on the DM and everyone else to avoid any more wrath.
Doh!!!
Joneth Revane |
Joneth attacks the prone and laughing man again, trying to make the best of his foe's obvious disadvantage and strike a telling blow.
Round 9
Melee attack (masterwork dagger): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6
Damage (piercing): 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
Sneak attack: 1d8 ⇒ 4
I do not think sneak attack applies, but I thought to include it just in case.
DM - Voice of the Voiceless |
Assuming Deader grins off-puttingly...
As Cedrick regroups, Nachi waits with whip poised. Joneth slips as the deck lurches over a wave and it causes his strike to lose it's strength and draw no blood.
The sailor before him attempts to stand...
Joneth AoO: 1d20 + 5 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 5 + 4 = 18 for 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
...wounding the sailor, but not gravely. Nachni's attempt to trip him back to the deck is futile and the Rahadoumi manages to strike at Joneth...
Short Sword: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
...though the strike lacks power and is well wide.
Ahead of you the sounds of battle continue sporadically, but are beginning to gradually die down. Through the fog you see a Rahadoumi fall from the rigging and land awkwardly on the deck with a sickening crunch. Riaris' voice also wafts through with a smattering of her usual ribald words of encouragement.
Back to you guys for Round 10.
At work, so no map - but you've got just one bleeding sailor standing against you at C,3.
Nachni Charan |
Round 10
"Nice blow Joneth. I'm glad one of us knows how to handle a weapon." Nachni lashes out again with the whip to try tripping the sailor. "Maybe I should stick to spells."
Trip (Whip) 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13
I tell you...one of these days Nachni is going to get a really critical trip when it matters. Until then...ugh!
Obisyth |
Round 10
Obisyth steps over to the prone sailor.
You should have just stayed down and surrendered.
She raises her club and then swings the glowing green two handed baton down at the prone sailer.
Attack-club: 1d20 + 6 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 6 + 4 = 17
Damage: 2d6 + 7 ⇒ (2, 2) + 7 = 11
With a sickening crunch, the sailor stays down this time.
DM - Voice of the Voiceless |
Obisyth puts the last of the threatening sailors out of his misery, before the fog clears somewhat and a few more sailors appears heading aft towards the boats... but this time they're lead by a Rahadoumi woman with a stern face and cold eyes. Beneath her loose clothes glints a chain shirt and she wields a large pike with a wicked hook on it's tip.
Fish can take her readied action
Eyes quickly assessing the situation she motions with hand signals and her companions form a defensive line with weapons held ready. With business like efficiency her pike is thrust at Cedrick...
Boarding Pike: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21 for 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
...sinking into his shoulderblade, but luckily being turned away by the bone. She then taps her weapon on it's steelshod haft and it grows from it's length of 8 ft to close to 15ft long.
Your turn at Round 11
Obisyth |
Round 11
Seeing more men desperate to die arrive, Obi moves around the grease and swings her still glowing club at the nearest victim.
Move to A5 (if I cannot attack B6 from there because of the mast, then move me to A6).
Attack-club: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18
Damage: 2d6 + 7 ⇒ (6, 2) + 7 = 15
As with some of the prior victims, this one seems to want to fly across the deck.
--> DM VoV, was there a down round in between? If so, I would have cast CLW.
