Hello Paizo boards!
As the title of the thread says, my Iron Gods campaign is in need of new players. Two, to be exact--our barbarian has decided to bow out of the campaign and our cleric has gone AWOL. We need a strong sword-arm and a devout divine caster to see us through!
Our current roster is as follows:
--Dejah Simin: a Changeling Archaeologist with more than a passing interest in exploring Torch's ruins;
--Jasper Finn: a Human Musket Master and survivor of Khonnir Baine's second foray under the town;
--Tabitha Flynn: a Human Wizard and Khonnir's apprentice.
The party has recently reached 2nd level and entered the Habitat Module.
The Character Creation rules are as follows:
Character Generation: 20 Point Buy.
Races: Core, plus Aasimar, Android, Changeling, Orc, & Tiefling. Variant heritages for Aasimar & Tiefling are permitted.
Alignments: Any non-evil is preferred. If you REALLY want to play an evil character, I'd like to see a good justification for it.
Classes: Any except: Antipaladins & Occult Classes. Unchained classes will be used.
Traits: 1 campaign, 1 other for 2 total. You may take a drawback for a 3rd trait.
Additional Details: Background Skills will be used for this campaign.
XP Track: What XP track? I'll level you up at appropriate points.

I am currently running this path in real life and I have studied it front to back to adapt it to my tables style.
I keep all of that out of play, no meta gaming, but if it's a trouble to you, I understand.
I am interested in playing either a barbarian or a bloodrager, with an interest in the high tech weapons.
Long term goals of destroying the Technic League and perhaps attempting to replace The Black Sovereign if they amass enough strength.
I like playing as a team player, I'm not big on standing in the cold, alone.

I haven't looked at the IG campaign guide in a while -- and I'd want to to make sure this idea fits -- but what about a Kellid shaman? He'd likely be fairly superstitious, with the robot slayer trait, and consider tech a blight on the fair land of Numeria.
I see him being fairly bombastic, with far more assurance in himself than he should have... He can certainly play a primary healer role, though I think I'd also like to get him involved with melee. Happily, shaman seems to be a fairly versatile class.
If you're interested, I can work on developing him further (give him a name, for example), though he's a fairly simple sort and likely just grew up near Torch -- or at least close enough that he saw when the flame went out and decided to go investigate what's happening with this abomination.
EDIT: If it helps, I can make sure my character's last name ends with an "-in" sound.

Ha!
FWIW, I'm a fairly consistent poster, who's been on the board and involved in PBPs for years (my longest-running campaign has been going for more than 5 years now). I've got regular access to computers, and will post in advance if I'm going to be away from the keyboard for any significant amount of time.
Dejah Simin
@motteditor: I like that. BTW, if your Shaman considers tech a blight on Numeria, then I think it will be amusing with two techies in the group: Tabitha and Dejah. I don't mind an opposing opinion as long as it doesn't bog the game down via character interaction/disagreements. :)
Each of the three remaining players have taken drawbacks and are playing them out in character.
Tabitha - Naive
Dejah - Pride
Jasper - Overprotective

I do like your eagerness. Please go ahead and develop your Shaman for I'd like to see him statted and his story. We are in definite need of both melee fighter and healer (our frontline fighter had to leave the game and our cleric has not been on the board for some time and we do not know if he will return).
BTW, Berating us occasionally for our foolishness is okay. Though don't forget about Tabitha and her poor nerves. ;)

Hi, Game Master Scotty. We like to play as a team. A barb is fine as we recently lost ours. We're asking applicants to stat up and give their character a short backstory, so we can look over the concepts and choose from there. You don't have to create an avatar unless chosen. Thanks! :)
Adrien Belmont
I've got a character from an Iron Gods game that unfortunately died off a while ago. This is his alias; he'd need to be rebuilt as an Unchained Summoner, but his eidolon would be filling the roll of a strong martial character. Adrien himself could function as a secondary healer as well, both from healing his eidolon with spells and being able to use wands and such with a good UMD.
The basic idea for the character is Adrien was originally from Brevoy, and traveled to Numeria due to his own fascination with the tales of technology from there. He ran afoul of the Technic League due to his own unfettered exploration, and as such has his own issues with the group. His "eidolon" is actually an ancient mechanical guardian he unearthed in one of Numeria's many ruins. Named OZ-M1, his eidolon goes by Ozymandias and believed Adrien to be whomever he had originally been created to safeguard, and as such has accompanied him ever since. Functionally, he'd be an Inevitable eidolon who focused on a large number of natural attacks, along with some degree of battlefield control. Adrien on the other hand mostly acts as a buffer, enhancing the rest of the party and using wands and such for healing and other utility.
Our game had just barely entered the Black Hill caves when our GM unfortunately disappeared. As such, I'm aware of the goal in exploring the Black Hills, but I never got very far and have no meta knowledge of the AP, so no worries about out of game knowledge. I'll get the both of them statted up as soon as possible and post in again with finished stats. In regards to posting, I'm a full-time student, but I have time to post at least 1-2 times a day. I'll be MIA this Sunday as I drive back up to university, but other than that I'm usually pretty free to post when not in class.
Adrien Belmont
Eh, not particularly? I was hoping he and his eidolon could help fulfill the melee combatant role, but if they aren't really what you're looking for, I'd rather take my leave than shelve them, you know? Let me know if you guys change your mind, but if not I hope you guys find some great new players for your game.
Fabian Benavente
No, we are looking over every applicant's submission/concept and choosing from there.
I'm currently reading about Numeria; I love the mix of sci-fi and fantasy so I'm very interested.
I would be applying for the strong sword-arm vacancy.
What is posting frequency of the game? How often does the GM post? How many posts per day do you average?
How long will you be accepting applications?
Thanks!

Players have been asked to post 1-2 times a day during the week. Weekends are usually quiet, unless the GM says otherwise for e.g. during combat. But there is no golden rule that says a player cannot post more per day. ;)
The GM makes 1-2 posts a day (during the week) as well, but this is mainly dependent on the number of player posts on the board during the day. This is of course dependent on player posting and GM availability.
I'm on an opposing time zone to the other players (I live in the Southern Hemisphere). I generally post 1-2 times a day. If my char is scouting or in a social situation, then I certainly post more. If I am away for any extended leave of absence, I'll let the other players know on the discussion board.
We would like to fill the two slots ASAP, so I will say we will be accepting applications until midnight on Monday, 18th January (Northern Hemisphere time). We will then look them over and get back to the successful applicants in the next day or two. :)
rdknight

How does an Aasimar warpriest of the Empyrial Lord Bharnarol sound for a healer? Maybe with the construct domain. He's all about tracking down bad, bad inventions and making sure they never see the light of day.
I'd be fine with switching to cleric instead of you want the extra casting instead of help with melee.
Your posting schedule sounds just fine to me. Not a problem.
In case you're not familiar with Bharnarol, here's his wiki description:
He'sDeadJim
I have a 2nd level LG 1/2 elf Summoner (Synthesist) from an IRL game of Iron Gods that died (the game...not the character)just around the Habitat module part. He's basically a sword brawler (He uses an Elven Curve blade), but I would have to update him to Unchained rules. His eidolon is very steampunk (gears and such) and resembles a largish suit of Elven Plate Mail. Keldor Whisthawk.
Could that work for you?

Interest so far with possible concepts:
* Nohwear: Fighter- Cyber-Soldier
* Game Master Scotty: Barbarian or Bloodrager
* Emissary of the North: Some Melee/Strongarm character
* motteditor: Kellid Shaman with robot slayer trait
* rdknight: Aasimar Warpriest of the Empyreal Lord Bharnarol
Please note the deadline is Monday 18th January at midnight for putting forward a concept for consideration (we have two spaces available in game and the successful players will need to be ready to jump right in). Please provide us with a short backstory and some detail about your character to help us in our selection. No need to create an avatar at this stage. Thank you, kindly. :)

I am going to make my fighter a human with the robot hunter campaign trait and the burned drawback. He has become adept at hunting robots so that he can harvest them for their tech. He also seeks to replace his scarred flesh with metal and synth. I am still trying to decide if I want to go two weapon fighting or sword and board.
GM_Ironcat
@D-Kal: I believe we're using the rules for Emerging Guns. Rarity of high-tech firearms. No cyberarms to buy or knowledge to get them. The GM can confirm this when he's back on the boards. :)
Emerging Guns would be correct, yes. High-tech firearms will be as rare as the AP allows--and if you want cybernetics, you'll need to craft them yourself, otherwise they'll be as rare as the AP allows.
Beast of Battle "BoB"
BoB is an Aegis. It's DSP Psionic class. It doesn't have Psionic powers just a body suit that gives it abilities. BoB was in an Iron Gods game that died out. That game didn't have 3PP classes either but the GM like BoB as a concept and allowed him. I think we played through the part you are entering before the game died. If your interested he can replace your strong sword arm. Let me know. You can check his alias for how I play him. As a poster I am in many games and post 10 times a day or more so I keep games moving and you don't have to worry about me dropping.
He'sDeadJim
@He'sDeadJim: Thanks for your interest. :) Unfortunately, at this time, we're not looking to add a summoner and eidolon to the existing party, as I mentioned earlier to Adrien Belmont. Sorry.
I did not see that post...sorry.
How about a LN 1/2 Orc Monk? I'll have to check out the Unchained version before I decide on any archetypes.
Background: I'm thinking basically an escaped slave living in the River Kingdoms who then takes up Worship of Irori.

Hmmm. I was just dropping by, but now that I see mott's tossing a hat in, I can't resist tossing a headband in. In terms of posting/reliability, been spreading the joy of gnome-based PbP daily since 2011.
A grey-haired gnome, slightly less than 3 1/2 feet tall, throws the door open as the dry outside winds spread his white quilted night-robe into disarray.
Pressing thick spectacles back up his nose, he scans the room with oversized eyes before padding up to an empty chair at an empty table. His footsteps are quiet as he seemingly is wearing fuzzy slippers. He appears unaware his robes are open.
"You there! Your search is over!"
He prods the chair with a small wooden club. His voice booms over the crowd until all present stand in disbelief observing the newcomer.
"Professor Fitzdaggle stands before you, having braved the horrors of the Mwangi Expanse in search of relics and artifacts!"
He continues to wave his club at the chair, seeming more like an elder scolding a child than an actual adventurer.
"While I failed once again to obtain the Thuvian elixir, everything else you've heard is true!"
He begins to pace, the grey remnants of his hair trailing behind him, fully revealing dozens of "age-spots".
"It's true that I've studied at the Quantium University in Nex. It's true that I've meditated with Vudran mystics on the Isle of Jalmeray. It's true I've... "
Stopping abruptly, he spins and prods the chair once again.
"Ohh? A quiet one are you? Playing hard-to-get are you? Very well, then! We will negotiate!"
Clearing his throat, his bravado lessens as he makes an offer.
"In exchange for providing the services of our great mother, Brigh, to your group, I will take only my fair share of all treasures and technologies uncovered, and only a half-share of any of those that are... "
The gnome 'professor' lowers his voice slightly.
"...accidentally disintegrated."
The chair, subject to a good number of recent club-prods, wobbles slightly in response.
Mechanically, full cleric. Theolgian of Brigh. So, usual cleric load out with selective channel but with the added benefit of incinerating blurry foes via pyromaniac-enhanced fire magic like fireball...
And he always wears smoked goggles. Yeah, yeah... I know... Perception. Wisdom-based class. The Professor waves away your concern.
"Hogwash! My eyesight is perfect! 20/20! 19/19 even!"

If you take my spot, Professor, we're going to have words! :)
Here's Kadosh (though that name's not final): http://paizo.com/people/Kadosh#newPost
Character's not quite fully done -- I have to buy equipment set and I'm still mulling a couple things over. I'm going back and forth on my choice of spirit animals, and on one of my feats, plus still need to buy equipment, but I can finalize all that pretty quickly if you choose him.
He's obviously able to fill the healer role -- channels and the heal hex -- though I think he's going to be fairly versatile, with also some melee abilities and some debuffing.
--
His history:
Born 22 years ago in the Sellen Hills, Kadosh was a typical child of the Ghost Wolves tribe, learning riding, a smattering of martial skills and magic, and most of all a healthy hatred of technology from his elders.
The youngest of three children, he doted on his older brother and sister, following them around whenever he could escape his parents' watchful gaze -- which wasn't difficult as the trio ran them ragged. That lasted until he was 8, when he tried to follow his brother and sister as they joined in the tribe's defense when it was set on by the Technic League and a monstrous robot. Accidentally blasted during the fierce battle, Kadosh was mortally injured.
Grief-stricken, his parents went to the tribe's shaman, who prayed for the boy's health ... to no avail. Kadosh died that early that night.
Yet, after being laid out and prepared for cremation the next evening, the boy rose with the sun, completely hale other than a burn scar over his heart. Life changed for Kadosh after that. His nascent raiding days ended as his parents refused to let him out of their sight, unless he was in the care of the tribe's shaman. His new guardian in turn took him under his wing, explaining the nature of the spirits and how they had saved the boy.
Kadosh learned much, particularly how to heal with first needle and sinew and then with magic. Still, he bridled under his parents' restrictions and champed at the bit to join his older brother and sister, Tyrr and Aldyk, who had begun regularly raiding with the tribe's other adults.
Finally, he could take it no longer and decided he had to take matters into his own hands. He slipped out of camp one night and made his way west, trading on his skills and spells for food and lodging. He longed to do more, to bring glorious battle to the Technic League, as he had been taught, but knew that to do so on his own would be suicide -- they had killed him once, already, after all. Instead, he issued warnings of the dangers of technology as he traveled, hoping to make sure others saw the proper way to act.
Most recently, he arrived in Torch, where perhaps the end of that town's flame will help them see sense about the dangers of technology.

What? You built a healer?? The hat was tossed in to play alongside you, not instead of you! :)
I think our PCs are fine as first-pass concepts... if our prospective companions like where we/any submission on the thread is headed, mechanics can always be retooled further to be make them more complimentary puzzle pieces.
motteditor RPG Superstar 2014 Top 16, RPG Superstar 2012 Top 16
Sorry, I thought it was clear I was angling for a healer role. I was wondering why you were jumping in to fill the same role I was!
That said, it actually wouldn't be at all difficult to make him more the melee guy. I'd probably completely rebuild him and tweak his history, though the basics of the character would be the same (a somewhat bombastic Kellid luddite). Not sure what class I'd take yet.
